The long awaited gym battle between Davis and Jean is finally about to start. It's been a long wait, but Davis is going to battle and try to earn his fourth badge.
"It's finally time." Terra said.
"We were told that Jean uses poison-type pokemon." Cletus said. "Better be careful with this one."
"No worries." Davis said. "That fourth badge is going to be mine." They all walked in so that he could finally have his gym battle. When they got in, they all saw Miss Bustier's class was in there. "Miss Bustier? What's going on? What are you all doing here?"
"It's the funniest thing, Davis. Everyone enjoyed watching your battle that they wanted to see more." Miss bustier claimed.
"Miss Bustier talked to Jean, and he allowed us to watch the gym as long as we're on our best behavior." Marinette claimed.
"No way! You guys must have the best teacher ever!" Davis said.
"Well, it will probably do some good for the class to see how a gym works. It could be educational." All of them looked and saw Jean stepping in. "Glad you made it, Davis. You've been waiting long enough for this gym battle."

The two stood facing each other as their long awaited battle was about to begin. Everyone else was watching in the stands.
"This is so cool. We get to see a real gym battle." Adrien said as he was excited.
"Oh please. Do we really have to watch another one of this guy's battles? He's not even famous." Chloe said.
"It will be fun. Now be quiet." Alya said. "It's just too bad I'm not allowed to film."
"The gym battle between Davis and Jean will now begin! Each side is allowed to use three pokemon! The battle will be over when all three of one side's pokemon is unable to battle! You may both begin when ready!"
"After seeing you battle in the tournament, Davis, I'm interested to see how you'll battle here." Jean claimed. "Here's my first pokemon. Skorupi, let's go!" He called as he made his first choice.
"Skorupi!"
"That's a Skorupi?" Terra said as she used her pokedex.
"Skorupi, the Scorpion Pokemon. A bug and poison-type. It waits patiently in sand to inject prey with poison from its tail. It is said that it and Sizzlipede share common descent."
"Skorupi is a bug-type. In that case, I know who to use. Bluja, let's go!" Davis called with his choice coming out.
"Bluja!"
"Time to get that badge! Bluja, start this out with Wing Attack!" Davis called. Bluja flew right in and was ready to attack.
"Skorupi, Pin Missile!" Jean called. Skorupi fired some pins and Bluja was forced to pull back and tried to avoid the attack.
"Don't let that stop you! Keep going!" Davis called. Bluja used some fancy aerial maneuvers to avoid the attack and managed to close the distance. Bluja flew in and landed a strike against Skorupi. It was a hard hit, but Skorupi was still standing.
"Wait. It's still standing? Why didn't that flying-type attack work?" Marinette questioned.
"It did, but you can't expect even super effective attacks to defeat your opponent in one hit." Cletus claimed.
"You can if you were good enough." Chloe claimed.
"Pin Missile again!" Jean called. Skorupi fired away once again, but Bluja kept flying around and avoided the attacks. Jean followed its movements carefully until it saw Bluja fly straight down. "There! Use Poison Fang!" Skorupi jumped right at Bluja with venomous teeth.
"Use Quick Attack!!" Davis called. Bluja flew out of the way with great speed and avoided the attack. "Now use Wing Attack once again!" Bluja flew at straight at Skorupi and smashed into it once again and knocked it out.
"Skorupi is unable to battle! Bluja is the winner!"
"That was amazing! He used Quick Attack to evade and then attacked!" Adrien said.
"And he's only getting started." Terra said.
"Not bad, Davis." Jean said as he brought Skorupi back in its pokeball. "Now that the warmup is over, let's get to the main event. Skuntank, let's go!" He called as he chose his next pokemon.
"Skun!" When that pokemon came out, Terra used her pokedex.
"Skuntank, the Skunk Pokemonz. A poison and dark-type, and the evolve form of Stunky. It protrudes a powerful stench from its tail that can last for a day."
"We'll take Skuntank down all the same. Now use Wing Attack!" Davis called with Bluja diving down straight at Skuntank.
"Don't you know you should never get too close to a Skuntank? Use Toxic!" Jean called. Skuntank unleashed a poisonous blast that made contact with Bluja. Once the poison cleared away, Bluja was badly poisoned.
"What happened to Bluja?" Marinette questioned.
"It's been poisoned! Now Bluja is going to keep losing energy!" Cletus claimed.
"Don't worry. It won't last long. Now use Slash!" Jean called. Skuntank had its nails stretch out and slashed against Bluja. That one attack and the poison was enough to defeat Bluja.
"Bluja is unable to battle! Skuntank wins!"
"Poor, Bluja. It was going good." Alya said.
"it's not over yet. Davis still has two pokemon." Terra said.
"Bluja return. You did great." Davis said as he was switching his pokemon. "Slotter, you're up next!"
"Slotter!"
"A water-type this time? Let's see if that will do you any better." Jean said.
"Better keep our distance. Can't risk getting hit by Toxic again." Davis figured "Slotter, Water Gun!"
"Skuntank, let's use Swift!" Jean called. Slotter and Skuntank used their attacks and it caused the two of them to cancel each other out. "You can't avoid my Skuntank. Now use Slash!" Skuntank charged right at Slotter with its nails ready.
"Aqua Jet!" Davis called. Slotter surrounded itself with water and flew straight at Skuntank. Slotter was faster as Skuntank's attack missed and it crashed right into Skuntank. "Now use Water Gun!" Slotter blasted Skuntank with water and pushed it back. "We've got them now! Aqua Jet!" Slotter surrounded itself in water and dived straight at a Skuntank.
"I don't think so! Toxic!" Jean called. Skuntank waited until Slotter was close enough and blasted it with poison. That caused Slotter's attack to stop and now it was suffering from the Toxic.
"Not again! Not cool!" Nino said.
"Jean waits until his opponent is close enough so that he can hit it with poison. Quite effective." Cletus said.
"Now use Swift!" Jean called. Skuntank blasted Slotter with a ray of stars. It wasn't looking good.
"Come on, Slotter! Hang in there!" Davis encouraged as Slotter tried to hold on.
"Finish this with Slash!" Jean called. Skuntank slashed its claws against Slotter and that knocked Slotter out.
"Slotter is unable to battle! Skuntank is the winner!"
"Now what?" Imperialdramon questioned.
"Don't worry about it." Davis said as he brought Slotter back. "There's still one pokemon left, and I know it's going to win it. Cubolt, let's go!"
"Cubolt!"
"So Cubolt is your final pokemon." Jean said. "Very well. Let's see what your pokemon can do now."
"We're going to win! Use Spark!" Davis said.
"Use Flamethrower!" Jean called. Skuntank breathed out fire, but Cubolt dodged the flames as it charged at electricity and smashed right into Skuntank.
"Nice work! Now use Fury Swipes!" Davis called with Cubolt scratching against Skuntank.
"Skuntank, Slash!" Jean called. Skuntank slashed against Cubolt and pushed it back, but Cubolt stayed strong. "Now use Toxic!"
"Smash them with Spark before they can use it!" Davis called. Cubolt charged right at Skuntank just as Skuntank used Toxic, but Cubolt's attack did some damage and knocked Skuntank out.
"Skuntank is unable to battle! Cubolt wins!"
"Yeah! Nice going, Cubolt!" Davis called, but Davis then noticed something was wrong. "Cubolt?" A closer look showed that Cubolt was poisoned.
"Oh no! Now Cubolt is poisoned!" Imperialdramon called.
"Not good. Toxic must have worked!" Alya said.
"But Cubolt is his last pokemon. How's Davis going to win with that going on?" Terra questioned as this wasn't looking good.
"Here. Just take this." Jean called as he tossed a berry over to Cubolt, to everyone's surprise. "It's a pecha berry. It will cure the poison."
"Hey! We don't need your pity!" Davis called.
"Don't think of it as pity. It's just that since this is going to be our last battle, I don't want a handicap." Jean claimed. This was unusual, but Davis respected it and allowed Cubolt to eat it.
"Can he do that?" Terra questioned.
"It would seem so. Jean is really getting into this battle." Cletus said. "He really wants Davis and Cubolt to bring out their best." Cubolt finished the berry and was feeling like himself again.
"Now, let's get to the last battle." Jean said as he got his last pokemon. "Let's go, Roybra!" He called out a brand new pokemon that looked just like a Seviper, but it had a good like a cobra with the inside purple and had spikes on the side. It also had longer teeth with what apparatus to be a sharper tail. The thing was that it was as big as an Onix.
"Roybra!" Just seeing something like that sent shivers down their spines.
"What is that thing?!" Davis questioned.
"I wouldn't want to bump in that thing in the middle of the night!" Imperialdramon claimed. Davis used his pokedex to learn what he was up against.
"Roybra, the King Cobra Pokemon. A poison-type, and the evolve form of Seviper. Many serpent pokemon come to view Roybra like a king. The longer and sharper its tail and teeth, the more respect they get."
"I didn't even know Seviper could evolve! How does a Seviper become that?!" Davis questioned.
"First time seeing a Roybra?" Jean said. "Seviper are able to become Roybra when they evolve at a high enough altitude, say like the top of a mountain. Roybras can also be quite fierce, as you can see by the appearance."
"Well, this battle is over. No way his little zappy pokemon can beat that freak show." Chloe claimed.
"I wouldn't underestimate Davis. Size isn't everything, and he can be full of surprises." Cletus claimed. Cubolt was a little nervous, but he tried to stay brave.
"It's okay, Cubolt. It's still a pokemon, and a battle is a battle." Davis assured with Cubolt feeling more confident. "Now give them a taste of your Spark!" Cubolt unleashed some electricity and charged at Roybra.
"Roybra, Crunch!" Jean called. Roybra stretched out its head and tried to bite Cubolt. Seeing as how Cubolt could be swallowed, it cut off the attack and tried to avoid them. "Now use Poison Tail!" Cubolt avoided the teeth, but Roybra was able to swing its tail and smashed it against Cubolt. "I'm afraid my Roybra is too large to avoid so easily."
"That Roybra is rather huge." Davis said as he tried to think of a way to use that.
"Roybra, put the squeeze on Cubolt with Bind!" Jean called.
"Dodge it and run up Roybra's body!" Davis called. Roybra tried to grab Cubolt, but Cubolt jumped up and avoided it. Cubolt ran up Roybra's body and tried to make it to the head. "Get to its head and use Fury Swipes!" Cubolt was able to make it up to the head and started scratching against Roybra's head.
"Shake it off and use Poison Tail!" Jean called. Roybra shook its head around. Cubolt tried to hold on, but ended up getting tossed right off. When that happened, Roybra smashed its tail against Cubolt.
"Hang in there, Cubolt! Thunder Fang!" Davis called. Cubolt had electricity course through its teeth and hit down on it. Roybra did get a good shock, but it managed to toss Cubolt off.
"This doesn't look good." Adrien said.
"How is Davis going to beat something so big?" Marinette questioned.
'At this rate, the battle isn't going to last much longer.' Davis thought. 'We got in good with that last attack, but how do we get in that close again?' He wondered what to do until an idea came to him.
"Poison Tail!" Jean said. Roybra used the attack once again with it smashing against the ground. They all thought the attack made contact, but they saw no sign of Cubolt anywhere. "Where did it go?!" He and Roybra looked around until Jean spotted it running along Roybra's body. "Roybra, Cubolt is running along your body! Shake it off!"
"Thunder Fang!" Davis called. Cubolt bit down on Roybra and gave it a good shock again. Cubolt jumped off and jumped against Roybra's body to smash electricity against Roybra's chin. He hit Roybra rather good from that and knocked it out.
"Roybra is unable to battle! Cubolt wins, so the battle goes to Davis!"
"We did it! We won!" Davis cheered. "You were great, Cubolt!" He said as Cubolt jumped right into his arms out of joy.
"That was amazing!" Terra said.
"He used Roybra's size to their advantage! Ingenious!" Cletus said.
"Wow! So that's what gym battles are like! Incredible!" Adrien said as he was amazed with what he saw. Now that the battle was over, the two of them shook hands.
"That was a great battle, Davis. You've certainly done well." Jean said. "Here is proof that you won. The toxin badge." He claimed as he gave Davis a purple X-like badge.
"Thanks, Jean. Yeah! The toxin badge is mine!" Davis cheered. Once he got it, he placed it with the others. "I now have four badges. I'm halfway to the Grecko League."
"On that note, you might be interested to know that Erik left Bacu City. He's decided to challenge the gyms himself." Jean said. "Battling you seems to have changed the way he thinks."
"Erik is going for the gyms, too. Sweet. That means we get to battle again." Davis claimed.
"Davis, you really are incredible. You've got four badges, and I've never seen battling like that." Adrien said.
"Thanks, Adrien. I can't wait for next time." Davis claimed.
Davis has succeeded in getting his fourth badge. He's battled well and made many friends and rivals here in Bacu City. Where will his adventures take him next? Stay tuned to find out.
