Our heroes are continuing on their journey so that Davis can find his next gym battle and earn his seventh badge. As they were continuing on their journey, they are about to get quite an experience.

"Let's see. There's a pokemon center not that far. We can rest there and maybe try to figure out where your next gym battle should be, Davis." Cletus said.

"Sounds great." Davis said.

"Hold on. Do you all see what I see?" Imperialdramon questioned. He spotted something unusual with all of them seeing it. It looked like a person, but it was made of wood. It was the same size as a person, but had moss around its legs, arms, waist, and the top of it's chest. It was like the moss was an outfit. The strange creature also had a couple branches sticking out of it's head with dotty yellow eyes. "What pokemon is that?"

"I think that pokemon is called a Willowgin." Terra said.

"Willowgin? That's one pokemon that's a little hard to look at." Davis said as he didn't find it all that appealing.

"Don't be rude. It doesn't look very happy." Terra said. They could see she was right. That pokemon looked rather miserable

"Willowgin! Willowgin, please come back!" All of them saw Nurse Joy, and she appeared to be running towards the Willowgin.

"Willowgin!" Willowgin didn't stick around. It just got up from where it was sitting and just ran off.

"Willowgin! Please come back! It's not as bad as you think!" Nurse Joy called, but Willowgin didn't stop. Nurse Joy knows that pokemon? What's going on that Nurse Joy would help a sad pokemon? Not much to go on, but it usually means is that there's something wrong with the pokemon.

Through the water, forest, and up in the sky

In the fire, thunder, and right in your heart

There are so many, many, many to find

And I know I can do it

(I can do it)

I know I can catch them all-all-all

(Gotta catch'em all)

So let's go

(Come on)

Oh

Watch me, here I go

Pokemon, here I come

It's destiny calling

I'll give it my all

It's all I can do

(Davis' voice): Willowgin Showers Bring Flowers

"Poor Willowgin." Nurse Joy said.

"Nurse Joy!" Davis called as he and the others hurried over. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah. Do you know that Willowgin?" Terra questioned.

"Yes, I do. That Willowgin was once the Sylphly that works at my center." Nurse Joy said.

"Say what?! Your Sylphly?!" Davis said in shock. He remembered meeting a few Sylphly at some of the centers he's been too, but he never would have thought a Sylphly could become a pokemon like that. Wanting to know more, Davis pulled out his pokedex to learn more about it.

"Willowgin, the Spriggan Pokemon. A fairy and ghost-type, and the evolve form of Sylphly. Willowgin's evolution from Sylphly is considered one of the most mysterious. Though they aren't grass-types, they produce powers that can be beneficial for nature."

"Wow. They really do evolve from Sylphly. Freaky since they don't look much alike." Imperialdramon said as they certainly didn't expect that.

"So, what's the problem? How come your Willowgin looked so sad and ran away from you?" Terra asked.

"It all happened when Sylphly evolved." Nurse Joy said as she remembered when it all happened. "Sylphly usually are the ones to aid us at the Pokemon Center, just like Chansey or Audino. However, the evolution was surprising and sudden. I certainly didn't expect it." She remembered seeing Sylphly's evolution appeared out of nowhere and soon became Willowgin. "However, Willowgin took a look at it's reflection and was quite shocked at what it saw. Willowing thought it was... Well, for lack of a better and nicer word, ugly." Nurse Joy couldn't forget the look of shock and horror Willowgin had when it saw it's face. The poor thing looked heartbroken.

"It thinks it's ugly?" Davis questioned.

"It's not uncommon." Nurse Joy said. "Sylphly usually come across as cute pokemon, but evolving into Willowgin damages their pride. When they see that their cuteness is gone after evolving, they take it rather hard. My poor Willowgin feels greatly hurt, especially since it can't revert back to normal. The poor thing now thinks it's ugly and doesn't want to be seen by anyone."

"That's it? That doesn't sound so bad." Davis said.

"Don't sound so insensitive." Terra scolded. "That poor pokemon thinks so little of itself that it doesn't want to be seen by others. It's terrible."

"It must be rather hard. Lots of people take pride in their looks." Cletus said. "While it's a valuable lesson in the fact that the inside matters, and one should be judged based on their actions rather than their appearance, one's appearance can effect how they think and feel about themselves."

"I've been trying to make Willowgin feel better about itself, but Willowgin wouldn't even give me a chance." Nurse Joy said. "This doesn't affect just Willowgin. Without Willowgin's help, I have no one to assist me in running the Pokemon Center. I do the best I can, but I can't do everything on my own."

"Without Willowgin's assistance, it isn't easy to run a center all on your own." Cletus said.

"Guys, we've got to try and help." Terra said.

"No worries. Let's go find Willowgin and cheer it up." Davis said. All of them were in full agreement that Willowgin needs to be cheered up.

...

Willowgin

Willowgin tried to seclude itself out in the woods. If what Nurse Joy said was true, Willowgin didn't want to be seen by anyone. It didn't even want to look at itself. When Willowgin took a look at it's own reflection in the river, Willowgin just smashed the water and cried at it's own appearance. When Willowgin heard someone else by the water. It took a look and saw a Deerling helping itself to some water.

"Willow..."

"Deerling?" Once Deerling noticed Willowgin, Deerling actually got scared of it and just ran off. That didn't make Willowgin feel any better.

"There you are, Willowgin!" Nurse Joy called once they were able to find Willowgin once again. "Willowgin, please come back to the Pokemon Center. It doesn't matter how you look. You're still a big help there. You shouldn't worry too much about how you look." Nurse Joy tried to reason with Willowgin, but Willowgin just refused to come back.

"The poor thing." Terra said. "We've got to do something to try and restore it's self-esteem."

"Come on, Willowgin. You don't look that bad." Davis said. "There are bunch of pokemon that don't look that good, but have other great qualities. So you might not be the prettiest of pokemon. That shouldn't matter. You still got plenty of other great qualities." He tried to boost Willowgin's ego, but it just didn't appear to be working.

"I think Willowgin might need someone else to talk to." Imperialdramon said. "Someone who might be able to cheer Willowgin up about it's appearance and show that there's more than what meets the eye."

"More than meets the eye... I have just the pokemon to help." Terra said. "Come on out, Slowpoke!"

"Slowpoke."

"Slowpoke? What makes you think that Slowpoke can help?" Davis questioned.

"Slowpoke is a perfect example of what Imperialdramon is talking about. Slowpoke looks so dopey, but it does hold a lot of power." Terra said. "I never would have known that from the way Slowpoke looks." That's how she explained it, but they all aren't sure about the logic in that. "Slowpoke, go over and talk to Willowgin. Tell it that it shouldn't put itself down because it holds more than just appearance."

"Slow..." Slowpoke just stood there and didn't really do anything. As Slowpoke just stood there and did nothing, Terra got rather annoyed. "I know you're a slow battler, but I'm not asking you to battle this time!" She lifted Slowpoke off the ground and placed it right with Willowgin. Willowgin was expecting Slowpoke to say something, but Slowpoke didn't really say anything, and Terra just got more annoyed. All that Willowgin really did was sigh because Slowpoke wouldn't do a thing. "Unbelievable. You didn't say anything and still made the situation worse." She complained and brought Slowpoke back to its pokeball. As for Willowgin, Willowgin didn't seem to be getting any better.

"Anyone got any ideas?" Davis questioned.

"Maybe you had the right idea, Davis." Cletus said. "Maybe if Willowgin saw how helpful and special it was, it might feel better. We just need to help bring out its good qualities."

"Yes. We need to show Willowgin that it may have lost it's looks but has other great qualities. Being a nursing assistant would help with that." Nurse Joy said.

"Great. Hear that Willowgin. Once people appreciate all your help, you'll feel better in no time." Davis assured, but Willowgin didn't seem so sure.

...

The Pokemon Center

All of them went back to the Pokemon Center. They thought if Willowgin could act like any other nursing assistant and help people, it might stop worrying so much about how it looks because people will appreciate the help. Willowgin was given a nurse's hat, but didn't look that upbeat about it.

"Come on, Willowgin. Cheer up. Remember that you're here to help people and pokemon." Davis encouraged.

"That's right. You were able to do this before, and you can still do it." Terra assured.

"It would also mean a lot to me to have your help again." Nurse Joy said. Willowgin didn't want to let them down, so decided to give it a try, but Willowgin just wasn't sure about itself now.

"Hello?! Anyone here?!"

"Perfect! It sounds like someone walked in!" Cletus said. "Go and see what he needs help with." All of them encouraged Willowgin to go for it, and Willowgin gave it a try. A trainer looked around for someone to help it out. Willowgin tried to come off as friendly and welcoming, but the sounds it was making sounded more like moans. When Willowgin stepped out, the trainer couldn't hold back its screams and just ran right out of there. That wasn't suppose to happen, and probably just made things worse.

"Dummy. Even if he got a little spooked, he didn't have to go running and screaming like that." Terra said. It looks like it only made Willowgin feel worse since someone actually ran from it.

"That didn't work. Is there anything else Willowgin can try?" Davis said.

"Back when it was just a Sylphly, Willowgin remained focus on it's nursing responsibilities." Nurse Joy said. "I can't really think of anything that might help it cheer up."

"It's because Willowgin is too concerned about how it looks." Cletus said.

"In that case, maybe all Willowgin needs is a makeover. A good makeover can make anyone feel better." Terra suggested. Thinking a makeover was what Willowgin needed, Terra got to work with help from Misdreavous. The two of them worked together to try and make Willowgin look more appearing. They used all the cosmetics and accessories they could think of.

"How long is this going to take?" Davis questioned.

"You can't rush art!" Terra called.

"Art? I think clowns take less time than this, and they have a ridiculous amount of makeup." Davis said as he was getting annoyed. Terra and Misdreavous were at it a little while longer until...

"Done!" Terra called with everyone getting a look. "Well? What do you all think?" Terra and Misdreavous did the best they could, but even they weren't satisfied with it. Willowgin actually looked worse with fake eyelashes, blush, bows, stickers, and whatever else. The bottom line is that Willowgin didn't look that much better. In fact, it was worse that they all felt like they turned to stone. "Literally the worst thing any of you could say."

"We didn't say anything!" Imperialdramon said.

"Exactly!" Terra said. Willowgin seemed to have felt even worse. Willowgin was actually in tears and ran out crying.

"Willowgin, wait!" Nurse Joy called. All of them chased after Willowgin and made it outside. Willowgin just kept on running until it dropped to it's knees and continued to cry. "Willowgin, I'm so sorry. I wish there was something we can do to make you feel better, but it looks like all we did was make your feel worse."

"There has to be something we can do. We can't leave Willowgin like this." Terra said. They all wondered how they can help Willowgin until Cletus noticed something with the tears falling to the ground.

"Wait! Look!" Cletus said. All of them looked down and saw that the tears were causing flowers to bloom right where Willowgin was, and they were beautiful. "Willowgin's tears are causing flowers to bloom!" They all couldn't believe that was actually happening.

"They're beautiful, and you made them, Willowgin." Nurse Joy said. Willowgin looked and couldn't believe that it made those flowers bloom.

"Didn't the pokedex say something about how Willowgin can produce powers that are beneficial for nature?" Terra questioned.

"That's right. I remember hearing that the tears of a Willowgin losing it's appearance channels a source that helps flowers bloom, but I thought that was just a myth." Nurse Joy said.

"It's sort of like in exchange for losing their looks, Willowgin can create something equally precious." Cletus said. "That's actually incredible." Willowgin was amazed that it could do something like this itself. It was actually feeling happy now, so happy at what it created that it began to smile.

"Willowgin, you're smiling!" Nurse Joy said. "See? It doesn't matter how you look because you can still do something incredible."

"Willowgin!" Willowgin seemed so happy now. Who cares how it looks when Willowgin can create something so lovely.

...

Later

"Thank you for all your help." Nurse Joy said. "Willowgin is feeling so much better about itself, and will now be our local gardener."

"We were glad to help." Terra said.

"We were, but I need to ask something, Nurse Joy. Do you know where the nearest gym is?" Davis asked.

"You're looking for a gym? I believe the nearest one would be in Nyxer City." Nurse Joy claimed. "That is quite a lovely gym itself."

"Nyxer City... Great. That's where I'll get my seventh badge." Davis said as he was glad to have his next destination.

After helping a distressful Willowgin, our heroes are reminded the importance of one's inner beauty, as well as that it's our actions and what we're capable of that really matters. They're sure to find more beautiful phenomenon out there, as the journey continues.
