When our heroes arrived in Nyxer City, they met up with their old friend Adrien, and were happy to hear that he went on his own journey. They also met Vanica, the Nyxer City gym leader, and Davis' Tazzvil evolved into Werevil. Now, Davis is getting the chance to battle Vanica for his seventh badge? Can he win?
"This is so exciting." Adrien said as he and the others were in the stands, including Imperialdramon. "I get to see Davis battle again."
"Are you sure you're okay with letting Davis go before you?" Imperialdramon questioned.
"Yeah. I'm fine with it." Adrien said. "I would love to see him battle again." As for Davis, he and Vanica stood facing each other so that he could have the chance to have this gym battle.
"Well, Davis, are you ready? I should warn you that while I do find beauty in dark-type pokemon, I find power in them as well." Vanica claimed.
"That's fine. I like a good challenge. Once I beat you, I'll have my seventh badge." Davis said. Vanica could see he's confident, but wants to see if that confidence can last.

(Davis' voice) The Allure of Dark
"The gym battle between Vanica, the gym leader, and Davis, the challenger will now begin. Each side will be allowed to use three pokemon. The battle will be over when all three of one side's pokemon is unable to battle. When you are both ready, you may begin."
"Well, let's see how your pokemon radiate." Vanica claimed. "Here's my first choice: Sneasel!"
"Sneasel!" She brought out her Sneasel, and it was indicated to be a male.
"Sneasel?" Terra questioned. She pulled out her pokedex to learn more about it.
"Sneasel, the Sharp Claw Pokemon. A dark and ice-type. Using the cover of darkness, this pokemon can be quite stealthy and sneaky."
"This is going to be awesome!" Davis said as he was excited about his choice. "Werevil, let's go!"
"Rorwwoooooo!"
"Werevil... So, you want to see what your newly evolved pokemon can do now." Vanica said. "I'm rather interested in myself. Let's see if the moon truly did bless it or if the evolution itself was the blessing."
"Werevil, let's get this started! Night Slash!" Davis called. Werevil had its claw glow with dark power and it went right at Sneasel to attack.
"Sneasel, Ice Beam on the ground!" Vanica called. Sneasel aimed the attack right at the ground and was freezing the entire battlefield. Werevil ended up slipping on the ice, but Sneasel had no problem as it slid around like it was skating. "Good. Now that the stage is set, let's get serious. Sneasel, back-to-back Slash attack!" Sneasel skated around the ice and kept attacking. Sneasel kept slashing its claws against Werevil and all Werevil could do was take it since it had a hard time even standing. "What do you think? This is how my dark-type Sneasel shines it's beauty. It can be quite the figure skater."
"Quite effective. Sneasel is using the ice to help its movements, making it harder for Werevil to move while making it much easier for Sneasel to get around." Cletus said.
"Oh please. I know how to deal with this. We just break the ice." Davis said. "Werevil, let's use Shadow Ball right on the ground!" Werevil followed Davis' lead and threw the attack right where it was standing, clearing away the ice so it could stand. "Good, now for the rest of the battlefield."
"I don't think so! Sneasel, Icy Wind!" Vanica called. Sneasel breathed out a cold blast of wind with it hitting Werevil and it kept Werevil from attacking. "Good! Don't let Werevil attack! It's not like any of Werevil's attacks are going to do much damage against you."
"Are you sure about that?" Davis said as he had something planned. "How is this for being blessed by the moon? Moon Blast!" Vanica didn't expect that. Werevil gathered power of the moon right between its claws and formed a pink orb. When Werevil formed it, it gave the attack a good throw with it hitting Sneasel and dealing a lot of damage.
"Werevil knows Moonblast?!" Vanica said.
"Surprised? Werevil learned that from evolving." Davis said.
"Brilliant! How perfect that Werevil knows Moonblast. That's going to be real helpful against a dark-type specialist." Cletus said.
"Now, let's get back to what we started. Shadow Ball!" Davis called.
"Dodge it, Sneasel!" Vanica called. Werevil launched the attack, but Sneasel kept skating to avoid the attacks. However, each attack was causing the ice to break apart. Werevil kept the attacks going until he was forced to jump in the air.
"There! Sneasel can't use it's speed in the air! Use Crunch!" Davis called. Werevil attacked before Sneasel could even touch the ground, the one spot it would be vulnerable. Werevil jumped up and crunched down on Sneasel to deal some damage. Werevil threw Sneasel to the ground and Sneasel was knocked out of the battle.
"Sneasel is unable to battle! Werevil wins!"
"Nice going, Werevil!" Davis said. "I'm going to switch, so you get ready for next time." He said as he brought Werevil back.
"Not bad. You aimed right for when Sneasel was most vulnerable. Your Werevil certainly has power, but let's see how you do against the darkly beauty." Vanica said as she had her next pokemon ready. "Sableye!"
"Sableye!"
"Sableye?" Terra questioned. She pulled out her pokedex once again.
"Sableye, the Darkness Pokemon. A ghost and dark-type. Sableye are able to eat gems, but the gems eat can stick out of its body."
"Skyjay, time to take flight!" Davis called as he made his next choice.
"Skyjay!"
"We'll win this one fast!" Davis said. "Skyjay, Quick Attack!" Davis called for the attack, but the others were a little shocked at his choice. Skyjay flew right at Sableye, but the attack just passed right through Sableye and didn't bother it at all. "Uh... Oh man! I got so pumped that I forgot that normal-type attacks don't work on Sableye with it being part ghost-type!" His friends nearly fell over at what a silly mistake someone like Davis made. "I guess even awesome trainers like me forget the simple stuff."
"So it would seem, but that mistake is going to cost you. Sableye, Power Gem!" Vanica called. Sableye fired a powerful beam from its eyes and blasted Skyjay with it.
"Power Gem?! Oh no! That's a rock-type attack!" Cletus said. "Super effective against flying-type pokemon!"
"I may have made one mistake, but I can still comeback from it! Skyjay, Wing Attack! That will surely work!" Davis called. Skyjay empowered its wings and flew straight at Sableye.
"My Sableye's dark beauty comes from it's lovely gems! Sableye, Dazzling Gleam!" Vanica called. Sableye unleashed a bright light from the gems on it's eyes. Skyjay practically flew right into the attack and took even more damage. "Finish with Power Gem!" Sableye fired the attack and blasted Skyjay once again.
"Skyjay!" Davis called as he was real concerned about his partner now. Sadly, Skyjay dropped to the ground and was knocked out of the battle.
"Skyjay is unable to battle! Sableye is the winner!"
"Oh no. Poor Skyjay didn't even get an attack in." Adrien said.
"I'm sorry, Skyjay. I was just reckless there." Davis apologized before bringing Skyjay back to it's pokeball.
"You certainly are energetic, and your pokemon feed off that." Vanica said. "It's obvious you have a strong bond with each of your pokemon. Now, show me that with your next pokemon."
"Gladly. Camoleaf, let's go!" Davis called.
"Camoleaf!"
"A Camoleaf... Interesting choice. Your other pokemon were rather fast, but Camoleaf aren't that fast. I'm curious to see how you will battle with this pokemon." Vanica said.
"Let's not keep her waiting. Camoleaf, attack with Power Whip!" Davis called. Camoleaf stretched out it's tongue and it smacked against Sableye.
"Sableye, Shadow Claw!" Vanica called. Sableye charged right at Camoleaf with its claw surrounded by ghostly energy. It clashed right against Camoleaf and did some damage.
"We're not going to back down! Camoleaf, attack with Razor Leaf!" Davis called.
"Sableye, Fury Swipes!" Vanica called. Camoleaf tried attack with the leaves, but Sableye slashed its claws around and were cutting away all of the leaves shot at it.
"Oh man! Look at Sableye go!" Adrien said.
"That Sableye is quite cunning." Cletus said. "It knows a variety of attacks that can be strong and quite effective in a battle."
"Come on, Davis. There's got to be a way you can turn this around." Adrien said.
"That Sableye appears to be light on it's feet, but Camoleaf never misses it's target." Davis said.
"But that aim doesn't help if Camoleaf can't see. Now use Dazzling Gleam!" Vanica called. Sableye unleashed a bright light once again. Not only was the attack dealing some damage, but Camoleaf was having a hard time seeing. If Camoleaf can't see, it can't aim.
"Stay calm, Camoleaf! Trust you instincts and use Power Whip!" Davis called. Camoleaf did just what Davis said. It trusted its instincts and attacked.
"Relying on instinct? It won't..." Vanica was sure that attack was going to fail, but it actually made contact with Sableye. "What?!"
"Yeah! Now use Razor Leaf!" Davis called. Camoleaf attacked once again. It launched the bladed leaves, and those blades leaves slashed against Sableye. The attacks hit rather hard that Sableye was knocked right out of the battle.
"Sableye is unable to battle! Camoleaf is the winner!"
"Yeah! He did it!" Adrien cheered.
"Just one more and that seventh badge is all his!" Imperialdramon said.
"I must admit that I'm a little impressed." Vanica said. "Dazzling Gleam was suppose to blind Camoleaf and prevent it from attacking, but Camoleaf still managed to connect an attack."
"Yeah. I knew that Camoleaf would." Davis said. "That's how me and my pokemon battle. No matter what, I trust them and believe in them. I know they're capable of making it work, and they prove me right."
"Amazing! He just simply believes in his pokemon, and they reward him for that by doing what he believes they can do!" Adrien said as he continues to admire Davis and the type of trainer he is, the type of trainer he wishes to be.
"He's certainly and interesting one." Vanica said as she was getting amused. "So, let's see how you do against my final pokemon. A pokemon that hold real dark beauty. Let's go, Rosery!" She called out her next pokemon, and it was one Davis never saw before.
"Rosery." It looked like Roserade, but it's green body was more of a purple dusk color. Instead of bouquets for arms, she just had a dark blue rose and a black rose. Her head was shaped like a fellow rose, but her mouth was covered by leaves with her eyes having mascara on them with lashes drawn on. This pokemon appeared as elegant as a rose, but shrouded in mystery.
"Never saw that one before." Davis said. He pulled out his pokedex to learn more about it.
"Rosery, the Black Rose Pokemon. A grass and dark-type, and the evolve form of Roselia. Unlike most plants that bloom in sunlight, the plants on Rosery can bloom in the dark."
"But I thought Roselia evolve into Roserade." Davis said.
"That's true if you use shine stones." Vanica said. "Roselia can evolve into Rosery with the use of a dusk stone. Now it's a grass-type with dark-type capabilities."
"That isn't going to stop us! Camoleaf, let's show them we won't back down!" Davis called. "Give them a taste of your Power Whip!" Camoleaf stretched out its tongue to try and attack Rosery with it.
"Rosery, Magical Leaf!" Vanica called. Rosery unleashed energy scythes and was able to counter Camoleaf's attack with Camoleaf's tongue taking some damage. "Now use Energy Ball!" Rosery formed a ball of energy and tossed it right at Camoleaf. Camoleaf took the attack, but was still standing from the attack.
"You're going to have to do better than that." Davis said.
"Very well. Even a black rose can be quite elegant, but every rose has its thorns." Vanica claimed. "Rosery, Poison Jab!" Rosery had poison flow into its flowers and attacked. It went right at Camoleaf and kept attacking. Rosery kept pounding those flowers against Camoleaf and Camoleaf was taking some serious damage from that.
"Camoleaf, Rock Climb!" Davis called. Camoleaf fought back. Camoleaf had claws grow out of its feet and smashed them against the ground. That caused the ground underneath Rosery to rise up into the air. After that, Camoleaf climbed up with the aim to tackle Rosery.
"That won't help you." Vanica said. "Rosery, Dark Pulse!" Rosery held out its arms and fired twin dark blasts. Camoleaf took the full extent of the attacks and was knocked back into the ground.
"Camoleaf!" Davis called as he was worried his pokemon was hurt. When the dust cleared away, Camoleaf was knocked out of the battle.
"Camoleaf is unable to battle! Rosery is the winner!"
"Oh man. I thought that Rock Climb was going to do some damage." Adrien said.
"She timed that Dark Pulse perfectly." Cletus said. "Rosery attacked when Camoleaf was most vulnerable and dealt a powerful blow."
"So, what chance does Werevil have on winning this for Davis?" Terra questioned.
"It will be tough. I'm getting the feeling that Vanica and Rosery haven't shown all their tricks." Cletus said.
"Well, you're just as tough as I thought, Vanica." Davis said. "I knew beating you wasn't going to be easy, but that doesn't mean I'm going to lose. That badge is going to be mine. Werevil, let's go!" He called out his last pokemon and brought Werevil back in the battle.
"Werevil!"
"Well, let's see if you can pull off that win. Come at us." Vanica dared.
"Gladly! Attack with Shadow Ball!" Davis called.
"Energy Ball!" Vanica called. The two of them attacked with the two attacks collided into each other and caused the smoke to cover the area.
"Get ready." Davis said. Werevil readied itself for another attack, but something strange happened. A set of vines shot out of the smoke and coiled around Werevil's snout and kept it shut. "What's going on?!" Werevil tried to get free, but those vines were on tight. The smoke cleared away and showed the vines came from Rosery's roses. "No way! Where those vines hiding?!"
"Surprised? Rosery can conceal a set of vines in their roses. I told you that every rose has their thorns." Vanica said. "Now that we've got a good hold on you, you won't be able to escape so easily. Rosery, Magical Leaf!"
"Get out of the way!" Davis called. Werevil tried to jump for it, but Rosery pulled on the vines and pulled against Werevil. Rosery attacked and it blasted against Werevil.
"Good! Now use Energy Ball!" Vanica called. Rosery attacked once again. Werevil tried to avoid it, but Rosery pulled once more and forced Werevil to be in the way of the attack and had to take it.
"This is a problem. Werevil has to figure out how to get free from those vines or else dodging is going to be hard." Cletus said.
"Come on, Davis! You can get out of this!" Adrien called.
"I know, but how?" Davis questioned. "We can't use Crunch as long as those vines have a hold on us. So, what can we do?"
"While you're busy figuring that out, we will keep on the attacks. Poison Jab!" Vanica called. Rosery went right at Werevil and attacked with its poisonous flowers.
"We can still battle back! Night Slash!" Davis called. Werevil was still able to fight back and slashed against Rosery. "Good! Now use Night Slash right on the vines to try and free yourself!" Werevil slashed against the vines. The vines were connected to Rosery's body, and Rosery felt pain from that. It was forced to let go and Werevil was now free. "Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!"
"So you managed to free yourself. Your Werevil certainly is a strong pokemon, but will that strength be enough?" Vanica said.
"This will! Moonblast!" Davis called.
"Not this time! Your vines!" Vanica called. Werevil was going to attack again, but Rosery stretched out its vines and wrapped them around Werevil's arms and pulled on them to have the attack cancelled.
"This is a problem. We need to get a clear shot with Moon Blast for it to deal tons of damage, but Rosery isn't going to let us." Davis said as he tried to figure out how to win this with Moonblast. "There has to be a way to..." He tried to think of how he can win this until an idea came to him, but he needs Rosery to perform Dark Pulse for it to work. "That might work. We just need to wait for the right move."
"Let's see who hold the greater beauty and power of darkness! Attack with Dark Pulse!" Vanica called. Rosery got it's attack ready.
"Werevil, listen. Don't move. Stay right where you are and endure the attack." Davis said. Werevil trusted Davis and readied itself.
"What's he thinking?! Sure, Werevil might be a dark-type, but that attack could still do some damage!" Adrien said.
"Just wait. He's got something planned." Imperialdramon said. Rosery unleashed the attack and it came right at Werevil. The attack connected, but Werevil endured the attack just like Davis said.
"What are they up to?" Vanica questioned.
"Werevil, aimed right down the center of those two beams and use Moonblast!" Davis called. Werevil went right for it. Werevil fought through the attack and unleashed a blast of moon power and Rosery couldn't block the attack. The attack connected and did a lot of damage that it finished the battle and knocked Rosery out.
"Rosery is unable to battle! Werevil is the winner! The victory goes to Davis the challenger!"
"You were awesome, Werevil! Way to go!" Davis cheered as he petted Werevil and Werevil acting like a happy puppy.
"Incredible! He found an opening in the attack!" Cletus said.
"He really is amazing! That had to have taken real endurance, aim, and real trust between trainer and pokemon to pull it off!" Adrien said as he was so impressed with Davis and his battling. Now that Davis has won all three battles, all that was left was being rewarded his badge.
"Davis, you have real beautiful pokemon, and a beautiful trust between them." Vanica said. "As your reward, I present to you the Twilight Badge." She said as she handed him a badge that was square shaped with a purple star on it.
"Thanks a lot, Vanica." Davis said as he took his badge. "Yes! I got the Twilight Badge! It's number seven!"
"Your seventh badge... Most impressive. That means you only need one more to enter the Grecko League." Vanica said. "Adrien, I be glad to take your challenge next whenever you are ready."
"Thanks, Vanica. Seeing Davis has really got me going." Adrien said. "Davis, you really are an incredible trainer."
"Thanks, Adrien. This is getting awesome." Davis said.
Davis has managed to get his seventh badge. With only one more before entering the Grecko League, Davis' journey is only going to escalate from here.
