I won't lie. This chapter is a bit of a filler because I wanted to end the medley at 150 chapters.

Chapter 148: Final Touch-Ups

Wagner Cove - 13:58 PM

Daniel didn't run. He didn't even think of it but it was heartwarming to hear that the guys thought of an escape plan, even getting Blake involved and him being willing to participate. When the guys saw that Daniel didn't leave the venue, they were relieved and were calming him down since his bride is ready. His vows aren't but she's ready which is more important.

"You'll have a bit more time," Merida says as she hands Daniel a glass of water.

"Really?" Daniel asks between sips.

"Emily's distracted since her parents are crying, Fury showed up, and James saw Emily in full bridal and is crumpled to the floor in a fetal position."

"Comforting," Daniel states as Merida hands him a paper bag to breathe into. He glances at Imanu after taking a few breaths. "Quick, tell me. What's the secret to a happily ever after?"

"Say I do," Imanu responds.

Daniel pauses. "I can't tell if that's helpful."

Xavier puts a hand on his shoulder. "He's been married for eight years. He knows what he's doing."

Daniel nods, handing Xavier his water and paper bag. He takes a few more breaths on his own and shakes his hands.

"Alright, I can do this," Daniel states before smiling brightly. "Let's get married."

Angela cheers. "Holy, it's finally happening!"

"Only took you eight years," Xavier says smiling.

Daniel glares at him with a grin. "We've been busy."

Daniel did the custom of greeting everyone when they arrived. As he walks past them down the aisle to get to the front, he can't help but think he'll soon see Emily walking down this exact path in her wedding dress. He hasn't seen her all day. The moment he does, it will be her last moments as Emily Stark. She won't walk out of here until she's Dr. Stark-Banner with a wedding band next to her engagement ring. He'll have a wife. She'll be his wife. Dr. Emily Stark is marrying him. They won't be fiancés because they'll be husband and wife.

Daniel heard that he would cry when he would see her at the other end of the aisle and he can't wait. He wants to tear up. He wants to marry her. He wants to be her husband. He always has.

He's no longer nervous. His face hurts from smiling at those thoughts and seeing everyone take their seat. His friends are sitting with their dates and near their parents, equally dividing themselves into both sides of the aisle.

He had eight years to write vows and his mind is still blank, but he'll be fine. He hopes.

Daniel turns and sees Fury smiling down at him. Daniel knew he arrived and went to see Emily but is still jumpy when he sees him. He even dressed up for the big day.

"Banner, I haven't seen you yet," Fury says.

"Busy day and I heard you were seeing Emily," Daniel responds.

"I was concerned about a bridezilla."

"And yet you walked right into a bridezilla."

"Had to drop in and say hello. I thought her seeing that I showed up would put her at ease."

Daniel nods. "Right … hey, Fury." Fury looks down at him and Daniel feels like a little high schooler again. With that look, Daniel feels compelled to ask him for help that he didn't want to go to his parents. They've always done that as kids. "Thanks for helping me out with the ring."

"What do you mean? You paid for it."

"Like eight years later."

"Just like marrying her."

Daniel smiles and Fury grins a little, patting his back. It only makes sense that Fury's officiating because he helped with the engagement ring. Like he just said, Fury was always their last resort, the man they would ask for help when they had no one else or didn't want their parents to know. And now, at an event that's debatably the moment before they're really grown-ups, he's sealing the deal for them by officiating.

"I'll see you when Emily walks down the aisle," he says before heading to the front.

Daniel looks down at himself for a minute. He sees his full wedding attire: a dark jacket, white dress top, black socks, black dress pants, and dress shoes. He wipes his already clear glasses and puts them back on before taking them off again. Finally, his mother adjusts them and he doesn't feel the need to fix them again.

He looks at both of his parents with a nervous smile. "Do I look ready to get married?"

Betty nods with a soft smile. "You just keep on growing up. It was like yesterday you were getting your first Ph.D."

Daniel nods. He's already going to cry.

"Are you good?" Betty asks.

"I constantly feel like I'm going to cry," Daniel admits, "in a good way, the best way."

Bruce straightens Daniel's jacket. "Being married is a new experience. You'll get to come home to your best friend and just live life together. It's amazing."

Looking in the mirror, it's her but not at the same time. There's an engagement ring on her finger about to be paired with a wedding band. Her hair is perfectly tousled into waves, falling over her shoulders, luscious lips, and a perfectly tailored dress that fits on the waist and flows down her legs gently. Her shoes are comfy, no need to be broken in.

Her parents are standing behind her, looking the proudest they've ever been, and she knows she's given them lots of opportunities for that. She doesn't care what she does in the future because she wants this to be their proudest moment for her (except maybe popping out a grandkid for them one day).

"Oh god, Tony, this is finally it…" Pepper mutters, holding his arm tightly.

"I'm walking my baby girl down the aisle," Tony states as if he's still in disbelief. "You're all grown up now. Are you ready?"

Emily nods, holding out her arm. "Are you?"

Are you ready for the ceremony? Because I'm not.
