Todoroki knelt by the open window in her room, lamenting another depressing night under her father's thumb. She wanted nothing more than to break away from him, but he had given her a harsh reminder that if she left him, then where else would she go? As much as it sucked to admit it, she felt that there really was no way out except with him. Nevertheless, nothing would stop her from hoping, for as abusive as Endeavor was, he could never take that away from her. Even so, hope could only take her so far tonight, and so, she closed her window and prepared to go to bed when she heard knocking on her window.
"Huh?"
Todoroki turned around and saw a moonlit figure standing outside her window. She thought he looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn't really tell. Still, she decided that maybe he was worth talking to, so she opened the window.
"Hey Todoroki!" The boy waved at her.
"Um…who are you?"
"I'm Izuku Midoriya; I'm in the same class as you!"
Todoroki stared at Deku blankly, and then she snapped her fingers.
"Wait, I remember now!" Her look turned serious. "So, what are you doing here, and what's your Quirk, anyways?"
"To answer your first question, my Quirk is why I came here. I heard you were kept in a vicegrip by your father, and I want to give you a taste of freedom. My Quirk is Float, which…well, it allows me to float."
Todoroki put her index finger on her chin. "I don't know; that sounds kind of dangerous…"
"It's OK; I won't let you fall!" Deku offered a hand to Todoroki. "You're free to turn me down if you wish. I'm only offering this because I care about you and your feelings."
Todoroki looked at Deku's smiling face. While she was still afraid of falling, she felt that he might be honest about this, so she answered by reaching out and taking his hand.
"OK, I'll go."
"Great!"
Todoroki stepped out of her bedroom window with some assistance from Deku, and once they were outside, she held on tight and braced herself for what was about to happen next. Then, Deku ended up floating away and taking her with him. As soon as they left solid ground, Todoroki screamed, not being used to being up so high despite ice surfing before.
"Everything OK, Todoroki?"
"Midoriya, I'm scared! I feel like I'm gonna fall!"
"It's OK! I'm holding on to you as tight as I can! I promise I won't let you fall! Just imagine you're floating down a lazy stream, OK?"
"OK, I'll try, but no guarantees!"
And so, Todoroki closed her eyes briefly and tried to pretend that she was indeed floating down a stream, hoping that Deku would be right. After closing her eyes briefly, though, they came back open, and this time, she felt no fear, just a sensation of weightlessness, as if she was meant to fly. That wasn't the only thing she felt, however, for she was starting to see Deku in a new light as well.
(Can you read my mind? Do you know what it is that you do to me? I don't know who you are. Just a friend from another star. Here I am, like a kid out of school. Holding hands with a god. I'm a fool. Will you look at me? Quivering. Like a little girl, shivering. You can see right through me. Can you read my mind? Can you picture the things I'm thinking of? Wondering why you are... all the wonderful things you are. You can fly. You belong in the sky. You and I... could belong to each other. If you need a friend... I'm the one to fly to. If you need to be loved... here I am. Read my mind.)
Deku must've read Todoroki's mind, for he brought her to Soruziberi Hill, the highest natural point in Musutafu. They set down in a small clearing amongst some bushes, where they sat down next to each other and looked up at the moon and the stars.
"Wow…it's so beautiful," said Todoroki.
"Isn't it? It's not often I get to see the stars, but I'm glad I did."
"So am I. Also…Midoriya…"
"Please, call me Deku."
"Right. Anyways, I wanted to tell you, I…for some reason, even though I haven't known you for that long, I get this weird feeling from you, like I feel very warm. No one else has made me feel this way."
Deku smiled. "I know." He put a hand on her cheek. "I get the exact same feeling from you."
Deku leaned in and kissed Todoroki, and she gasped and flailed around a bit, not knowing how to handle the sudden onslaught of hot and tingly feelings. However, once she got a handle of herself, she wrapped her arms around him, laid him on the grass and straddled him as she continued to kiss him. Overall, this was turning out to be the best night of her life.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
