As hard it was to believe, another year had gone by, and Deku and Todoroki were once again spending it with Inko and Rei, also Hisashi. However, this year was no ordinary New Year's celebration, for this year, the four of them would be spending at Ashido's place. The initiative was Todoroki's idea, mainly because she wanted to spend more time with the other girls of Class 1-A outside of the usual school setting. While Deku considered Ashido a good friend and was happy to spend time with her, he had to wonder about something:
"Shoko, I'm glad you want to spend time with Ashido, but are you sure it's a good idea to leave Fuyumi and Natsuo with Endeavor? I worry about leaving those three with each other without your mom around to serve as a voice of reason."
Todoroki smiled and gave a dismissive hand flap. "Relax, Deku! Fuyumi and Natsuo are spending New Year's partying out on the town! Besides, Daddy said he needed to be alone tonight to have some time to reflect on things."
Deku nodded. "OK, I trust you."
"Besides, I'm looking forward to meeting more of Shoko's friends now that the hospital released me," said Rei.
"That reminds me: what's Ashido like?" asked Inko.
Deku smiled. "She's…well…she's very girly. I'd say she's probably the girliest girl in our class."
Todoroki giggled. "That would probably be an understatement, Deku."
"She seems like a nice girl, though," said Hisashi.
Todoroki raised her hand. "Oh look, we're here!"
Since Ashido's house – a more modern-looking house similar to Kacchan's – was only a few blocks away from Deku's apartment, the four of them had opted to walk there. Todoroki was the first to knock on the door.
"Coming!"
The door opened, and…
"OH MY DAMN CHERRY BLOSSOMS!* Glad to see you, Todoroki!"
"Same here, Ashido!"
Todoroki and Ashido gave each other a big hug plus a couple of quick pecks on the cheek – what would be known as "la bise" in French.
"I see you brought Midoriya, too!" Ashido waved at Deku.
"Hey Ashido!" Deku waved at Ashido. "By the way, this is my mom and dad. Mom, Dad, this is Mina Ashido; she's one of my classmates."
Ashido waved at Inko and Hisashi and smiled. "Hi, nice to meet you, Mrs. and Mr. Midoriya!"
"Hello, Mina!" Inko and Hisashi waved at Ashido.
"Ashido, this is my mom, too," said Todoroki.
"Nice to meet you too, Mrs. Todoroki!"
Rei giggled. "Please, call me 'Rei'!"
Ashido made a "come hither" gesture to the Midoriya-Todoroki gang. "Come on! Mom and Daddy are waiting for you!"
After the gang took off their footwear, they entered the Ashido household, which was decorated in a 70s retro style with an abundance of pink. Sitting on the pink leopard print couch were Ashido's parents. Ashido's mom looked like a carbon copy of her, only she had longer hair, and she was taller and more buxom. Ashido's father, on the other hand, was a muscular man of average height with a normal Asian skin tone and mid-length graying brown hair. Ashido's mom was the first to take notice of them:
"Mina, it's so nice to meet your friends! Mind telling me who they are, honey?"
"Mom, Daddy, these are the Midoriyas and the Todorokis. The boy and the girl are my classmates Izuku and Shoko. Those two are Izuku's parents, and that's Shoko's mom. Everyone, this is my mommy and daddy!"
"Please, call me 'Tina'!" said Ashido's mom.
Ashido's father waved at them. "Hi, I'm Kenji."
"Nice to meet you!" said the Midoriyas.
"Interesting." Todoroki smiled. "Ashido, I never would've guessed your father wasn't pink."
"Yeah, but I love him very much anyways! I am a daddy's girl, after all!"
Ashido gave Kenji a hug, which he gladly returned. Everyone smiled, but perhaps no one more than Todoroki:
"So Ashido, what does your family do for New Year's?"
Ashido let go of Kenji. "Hmmm…we don't really have anything special planned. We just do whatever our hearts feel!"
Todoroki smiled. "Well then, I did have this one idea…"
"Go on!" said Tina.
"I was watching these old videos of the National Aerobics Championship, and I thought: why don't we do aerobics?"
"OH MY DAMN CHERRY BLOSSOMS!" exclaimed Ashido and Tina simultaneously.
"That sounds like a great idea!" said Ashido.
"I haven't done aerobics in so long!" said Tina. "Let's do it!"
Todoroki pulled out her phone and put on the theme song from the Crystal Light National Aerobics Championship, as composed by Dan Slider and sung by Ty Parr. Almost immediately, Todoroki, Ashido, Tina and Kenji broke out into a synchronized aerobics routine involving various kinds of leg raises, kicks and other dance moves. Even Deku couldn't resist joining in on the fun. Though he wasn't quite as limber as the girls were, he still had a great time working out to the hi-NRG music. However, Inko, Hisashi and Rei had elected to stand on the sidelines, though Ashido and Tina took notice:
"Come on, Mr. and Mrs. Midoriya!" said Ashido. "Come on, Mrs. Todoroki!"
"Yeah, don't you wanna do some aerobics with us?" said Tina. "It's good for the body!"
"I know it's good for me!" said Kenji.
Inko smiled nervously waved her hands from side to side. "Thanks, but I'll pass!"
"Me too!" said Hisashi.
"Yeah, that looks too tough for me!" said Rei.
"OK, if you insist!" Ashido smiled. "You're missing out, though!"
Deku, Ashido, Todoroki and Ashido's parents continued on with their little aerobics session, getting down to more hi-NRG jams such as "Sunset People" by Donna Summer, "Can We Try Again" by Teknique and "Radio Action" by Claudja Barry. Though everyone was doing well, someone eventually tapped out:
"OK, that's enough for me!" said Kenji.
Despite being the first to call it quits, not only did Kenji enjoy himself, but he was having a good time watching his precious little girl having fun along with his pink wife as well as his daughter's friends. As they continued with the fun, he bobbed his head along to more jams such as "Without Your Love" by Cut Glass, "Speed" by Mary Hylan and "Bring It Back" by Taka Boom. Eventually, someone else threw in the towel:
"Phew, I'm tired!"
Deku sat down on the couch with Kenji and wiped the sweat off his brow, while Todoroki, Ashido and Tina kept up the hi-NRG madness with songs such as "Rattlesnake" by Peter Griffin, "Academy Award Performance" by Sparks and "Fly With the Wind" by the Peter Jacques Band. Deku wondered how those girls could be so full of energy. He was no slacker himself, but these three had him beat. He figured that in the case of Ashido and Tina, they had so much energy just from being pink girls. As for Todoroki, he speculated that the "Hot" half of her Quirk gave her plenty of energy to boot. Speaking of boots, one of the three gave herself the boot eventually:
"OK, I can't!"
Tina sat down between Kenji and Deku. However, the odd thing was that Tina wrapped an arm around Deku and laid her head against him. While he found it unusual that one of his friend's moms would be so affectionate to him like this, on the other hand, he enjoyed such affection from women, so he wrapped his arm around her as well. He found her to be just as soft and cuddly as Todoroki, and she smelled just like a spring field of the pinkest cherry blossoms. As for Ashido and Todoroki, they continued to work their asses off to songs such as "Invasion" by Patrick Cowley, "Take Off" by Harlow and "Rydeen" by the Yellow Magic Orchestra. Considering these two girls were the only two left doing aerobics, they used this as an opportunity to launch playful verbal jabs at each other:
"Hey Todoroki, I bet you're gonna get tired first!"
"No way, Ashido, it's you who's gonna get tired first!"
"Me!?" Ashido laughed. "You're talking to the pink breakdancing queen here! I'll DEFINITELY win!"
"Oh yeah? Well, I've had more practice with aerobics than you!"
"Oh YEAH? Well, I'm pink and full of energy!"
"Oh YEAH!? Well, I have bigger boobs than you!"
Ashido laughed. "Oh, playing that card, eh!? Well, I have the power of cherry blossoms and you don't!"
Todoroki laughed. "I don't need the power of cherry blossoms to beat you, because I am the storm!"
"Yeah!? YEAH!? OK, Miss Two Color Hair, we'll see who…"
While jamming out to "Vibration From the Sky" by Yann Linhart, Ashido found that even her pink girl energy had its limits, so she stopped her aerobics session, huffing and puffing. Todoroki jumped up with her fists held high.
"I WON!"
Everyone clapped for Todoroki, even Ashido despite her tiredness.
"Great job, Shoko!" Deku hugged Todoroki. "You really rocked your body!"
Todoroki giggled. "Oh you!"
"Shoko, that was a great round of aerobics!" said Tina. "I had fun with you!"
"So did I, Mrs. Ashido!"
Tina and Todoroki hugged each other as well. Kenji also approached Todoroki:
"Well done, Shoko! I've never seen anyone do aerobics like that!"
"Thanks, Mr. Ashido!"
Todoroki and Kenji shook hands. Then, Ashido came up to them:
"Hey Todoroki, mind if I get a selfie with you and Daddy?"
Todoroki smiled. "Not at all!"
"OK!"
Ashido wrapped her arms around Todoroki and Kenji, and then she snapped a selfie with them.
"Honey, the countdown is happening soon!"
Tina had turned on the TV, and the Midoriyas, Todorokis and Ashidos gathered around to watch the countdown. When the countdown rang in the new year, Ashido hugged her father first, Deku and Todoroki kissed each other, Inko and Hisashi kissed each other, Todoroki and Rei gave each other hugs, and – in a surprise move – Tina hugged Deku, but Deku being about a head shorter than her, he ended up having his face smothered in her massive chest, which got a bunch of laughs from Todoroki and Ashido, even Rei. Overall, it was another memorable New Year's celebration.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
