One rainy night, it was too dark to even go outside and enjoy the weather, mainly because the rain was too heavy. Lady Penelope and I liked to stay indoors and drink hot beverages in the quiet living room by the fire together. Lady Penelope drinks hot coffee, while I drink a nice, warm mug of cocoa. It was such a warm and lovely evening spent indoors with the ones you love.
"Penny," I said suddenly, "Do you remember when Bluey and Bingo put on a show for their parents?" "Mmmmm," hummed Penelope as she gulped down her cocoa, "I remember it all too well." "Well, during the part where Chilli went to hospital and had a baby, Bluey and Bingo got their dad to play a baby, complete with a bonnet and a stinky nappy. In fact, people aren't born with nappies and bonnets! That's just how stereotypically they depict babies. Babies come out red and disgusting when they're born. That's exactly what happened to me when I was born - I was smelly as a drowned rat. But luckily they cleaned me!"
"But then you were abandoned, and I found you. Parker and I took great care of you and loved you as our own. We're a tight knit family, of course, and you're our centrepiece - like one of those fancy ornaments first class people keep on their fireplaces in any first class British home. I love you like you're my very own, precious, china doll." "Hao!" I cried out loud, which caused Penelope to giggle.
"But seriously," I continued, "I am like your precious China doll, even though these sorts of dolls don't come from China." "I know you are," smiled Penelope, "I thought you might say that. Dolls don't just come from China, they come from the most precious place inside you - your heart. And you came from someone else's heart, yet you remain in mine." "And Parker's?" I asked. "And Parker's." said Penelope.
Penelope put her mug down and hugged me softly. "Some people say horrible things to you, but, my dear, you're one of a kind. You're...how do I say it...quirky and unique. You're the most esoteric person I have ever met. In fact, being esoteric is what makes both of us special." I smiled. Penelope was the best teacher in the world, and still was to this day.
