Chapter 24 Prom.
Tommy opens the door of the limo and helps Carrie to get out of the vehicle.
Sue smiles.
Mrs Desjardin tries to do the same, but it comes across as an bit forced.
Around her multiple people have their own reaction, but Carrie isn't really interested in those.
Instead she looks at certain people, looks at their faces trying to see what they think.
Do they think I am taking advantage of Tommy's kindness? I could get myself out of the limo I don't really need his help.
Or do they don't like my dress anymore after they see the other girls dresses?
Carrie feels herself getting smaller, her earlier confidence fading an little.
She looks at Heather and tries to concentrate, it would be so easy to know what she and the others thi...
No, I can't do that.
I can't let my own insecuraties color my judgement like this. I don't like people breaking my privacy, me reading their minds on purpose is an huge invasion of privacy. Even if they never find out I did that, HE would know.
I would know.
Shaking her head, Carrie looks at the screen with the hope it will distract her from the part of herself that wants to read the others mind.
The camera shows Carrie's back as the two of them walk inside.
The next scene shows Carrie and Tommy walking in the gym while they stay close.
The camera shifts, giving the others a good look at the decorations of the gym.
The people in the room take in the view of the decorated gym. While some people don't really care for this and are distracted by everything else they have seen, others especially the students, look in awe of the decorations.
The beautiful decorated gym lifts the mood a little and family and parents off the students start chatting with each other, sharing some of their own prom experiences and talk about the decorations.
''The gym really looks beautiful, you have outdone yourself!'' Says Principal Morton.
The other teachers nod, agreeing with him.
The students that are part of the Prom commision and those that have volunteered, accept the compliments or blush under the praise.
''I knew that this theme would be an hit!''. Says Vic Mooney.
''Yes, but now everyone knows what the decor is going to look like''. Answers Norma Watson.
While she was happy that everyone seems to like the decor, the fact that now everyone, knew how things were going to look like did dimish her joy a little.
''It really looks beautiful''. Whisper Chris Hargenson, Sue Snell and Carrie at the same time. Each of them having their own reaction on the decorations and their Prom.
Chris looks at it with regret, knowing she is going to miss it thanks to her own fault.
Sue also looks at it with regret, but with the knowledge that she is doing the right thing.
Carrie looks at it with an sense of nervousness but also happiness. Her earlier insecurity and shame forgotten for now.
Please let this have an happy ending.
Multiple couples are shown getting filmed or their pictures taken.
After some groups and one boy act crazy in front of the camera.
Said boy was the victim of multiple people now looking at him.
The screen shows Carrie, she looks scared at first but the fear in her face dissapears as an smile finds it way there.
Mrs Desjardin looks at the Carrie on screen. The way that Carrie looks and acts still a bit foreign to her.
''It is strange seeing her like this, isn't it''. Whispers Hermosa.
Rita can only nodd. Beside her Carrie is chatting with Jessica, Freddie and Freddie's parents.
Carrie looks at her in between, but thankfully didn't seem to expect anything from her at the moment.
Did she feel how exchausted Rita was?
The thought made her feel guilty.
Despite her earlier confidence, she wasn't as well put together as she pretended to be.
I know I probably should talk with Carrie, encourage her, but Freddy and Jessica and the others seem to take good care of her.
Please, I just need a little break to progress all of this.
A part of Rita was angry at what or whom had brought them here.
Couldn't you have split the movie in multiple parts, like one for each week, so we actually have time to come to terms with things?
Rita was met with silence. The power that brought them together kept silent, leaving her to her own thoughts.
A colored guy in a nice suit stands up from an table and walks to Carrie and Tommy.
Dawson: ''God, you look handsome, Ross''.
Tommy: ''Dawson!''.
The two know each other and greet the other in their own greeting.
Both boys watch their future selves with an grin and start hugging the other.
''You wouldn't laugh if you know how many people think you two are gay''. Says Ruth Gogan plain, though not unkindly.
This causes both Tommy and Dawson to stop laughing and start looking around.
A part of the student population refuse to look the two in the eyes, finding the floor or their hands very interesting.
''Oh let them be Ruth''. Says Sue, not seeing the problem in her boyfriend and George being more physical affectionate with each other then was ''seen'' as acceptable and manly.
Another girl joins the group.
Erica: ''Don't worry. If they kill each other, I'll dance with you''.
The comment from Erika earns multiple raised eyebrows and some snickers.
Carrie smiles.
Carrie blushes a little at the other girls words.
Sue looks surprised at Erika's straightforwardness, but is also happy that she acts so warmly towards Carrie.
So far, sogood.
Beside her Tommy and George grin at her.
Tommy turns to Carrie and introduces the couple.
Tommy: ''Carrie, this is my best buddy, George Dawson''.
Tommy: ''And this is his girlfriend, Erika.
Tommy: She goes to Dover.
George Dawson signs.
''Men, I can't believe Erika is missing this''.
''She will never believe me when I tell her this''.
''No one will'' Says Tina Blake dryly.
''Yeah, unless we still have the tape after this''. Says Freddy Holt.
This gets the rooms attention.
''Do you think we will be allowed to keep the tape afterwards?'' Says John Hargenson.
He couldn't help thinking it would make proving Margareth White's guilt much easier.
But how to explain how we got it and of course what is on it beside the abuse?.
Not to mention Chrissie's awfull criminal behavior?.
John Hargenson grimaces.
On the other side of the room Mr Holt was facing his own battle.
This tape could prove that telekineses excists.
It would be an huge step for science, an discovery that can change how we as humans view ourselves.
Mr Holt tries imagining the reactions of the world, he imagined himself in front of Harvard or Yale showing the video and maybe Mrs White, showing undeniable proof that telekineses excisted.
How would the people and gouvernment react to undeniable proof telekeneses excists?
There have been multiple studies and professors who have tried proving it excists, with no luck.
The results were always to little, the people who supposedly had these gifts falling short.
At least as far as he knew.
That is certainly not the case with Mrs White.
I have never seen anyone like Mrs White, never in one of the studies I have seen or read was there someone like her.
Her level of control and power is remarkable, if I went forward this no one could deny telekineses anymore or try to silence it.
I can be like doctor Omalu, I can help the people find out the truth.
Mr Holt feels himself getting an adrenaline rush, imagining the amount of fame and recognation this would grant him and what the world could do with this knowledge.
He just would have to expose an frightend young girl to the world.
Mr Holt felt slowly his adrenaline fading, making place for some doubt and guilt.
It would be hard on Mrs White but this isn't only about her, the world deserves to know'
This is an world changing event, like when the continents discovered the excistence of each other.
This could do so much good, Mrs White has already shown us what good it can be used for.
Imagine firefighters and policeman using telekineses to stop criminals and others from getting hurt.
Policeman would never have to fear an bullet again, one telekinetic person on the force could protect them.
If we can find individuals who have these gifts, that are as strong as Mrs White and we learn them how to control them...
So much good can come from this''.
Mr Holt could already see it, an world full of telekinetic people surviveling the streets, keeping the streets safe.
How long would it take before criminals find out or try to recruit people with these gifts to help them if it becomes known?.
Does the good outweight the evil?.
Once Pandora's box has been opened we can't close it again.
Beside him his wife leans closer, holding his hand.
On his right side his wife and son sit quitely, the other side is empty. There his mind whispers an tale as sweet as honey of fame, acknowledge and knowledge in his ear, leaving him very tempted and conflicted about what to do.
Erica: "Hi'.
Erica: ''Come on, I'll show you the table''.
The 4 walk through to the room, walking to their table.
Erica walks beside Carrie.
Erica: ''I love your dress, where did you get it?''
Carrie: ''I made it''.

I hope everyone is doing I want to thank everyone for their reviews and what they like to or like not to see. I sadly still are facing an tough time at work so I haven't been able to write as much as I would like. But in spirit for the Holidays I decided to post this small chapter/preview. I hope you enjoy it and happy Holidays and a good 2025!
Now a little about the chapter. Did you guys notice the 2002 reference in this chapter? If so please let me know. As you all have ready everyone is facing their own demons this chapter with an special mention towards Mrs Desjardin, Carrie and Mr Holt...how do you think they will deal with it? Carrie is at the moment one of the few people holding herself remarkably together for the most part (well if you read all she has gone through she is) but for how long when her dream becomes an nightmare?
