Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon
And yes, this is a rewrite. And I hope it's good… I hope it will.
Pokémon - Shiny Aura
Chapter 1: New Region, New Troubles
This world is inhabited by creatures called Pokémon. For some people, Pokémon are pets, while others use them for fights. But for our protagonist, he isn't using his Pokémon for those reasons.
His name is Endre Adler. A 18 years old man and self-proclaimed "Pokémon Adventurer", as he had already travelled through 9 regions all by himself and his trusty Pokémon. It isn't an exaggeration to say that he's an expert in Pokémon's knowledge, but not at a professor's level. Though, with his black shirt, red jacket, beige pants and a ring in his right index finger with an amber stone on it, he doesn't look like an intellectual person.
But now, he left his hometown of Rustboro City in Hoenn to visit his father, who's a travelling paleontologist, in a region he never heard of before.
"Sigh*" A young man with brown hair and orange eyes sighed as he was tired from sitting during the long flight. "I didn't think that staying in one position would hurt my back like this. Oh well, welcome to Wifiot Region, I guess…"
Wifiot, a region full of mystery to Endre. He can't find any information useful about it on the net. All he found is that this region's Pokémon League would reopen after long years, and the company, Brilant, which produces many Pokémon products. Aside from that, the net doesn't tell much about this region.
Endre then looked to the sky, where he saw a group of Pidgey's flies through the sky.
"At least there's some Pokémon that I know of here." Endre said to himself. "And where's my ride to the museum…"
The brown haired man searches for his ride, which his father stated is a short girl with a spicy attitude. Endre himself didn't know what his father meant by that.
"Hey,"
"Huh?"
Endre heard something talking near him, so he turned around and saw a short girl with Blonde hair and reddish eyes. She's wearing a white coat over a black shirt and gray jeans.
"Are you Prof. Adler's son?"
"Yeah… Who's asking?" The man replied.
"Me, obviously." The girl said. "In short, I'm your ride to the museum. Come on, follow me on my ride."
The blonde girl said while walking towards a direction. Without any choice on hand, Endre just pulled his luggage and followed the girl from behind.
After walking for a while, she stopped at a green jeep. The girl signals Endre to put his luggage behind. Then, she went towards the driver seat and started the vehicle.
"Hop on, can't let the prof. wait for his kid's arrival." The blonde girl said to him.
Hearing that, Endre went to the backseats, and the girl started driving.
"Say," The girl started talking. "To think that the prof. has a teenage son. I swear he looks like he's in his 30's."
"What, are you trying to hit on him or something?" The brown haired boy asked.
"That clearly isn't my intention here. I'm surprised that he has a son near my age."
"Oh yeah? How old are you, then?"
"Has anyone ever taught you about not asking a woman for her age?" The blonde girl said to him.
"Really? And has anyone ever told you to introduce yourself first to the stranger that you have met for the first time?" Endre retorted back.
"To think that you talk back. You are clearly the opposite of the prof…" The blonde girl muttered. "Well, my name is Aika Kurogawa. And for your info, I'm 21 this year."
"Aight then. Like you already know, I'm Endre Adler. I'm 18 years old." He replied back.
"18, huh… Are you a Pokémon Trainer?" Aika asked.
"Nah, I'm more than that. I'm a Pokémon Adventurer." Endre claimed it himself.
"Pokémon Adventurer…?" Aika thought that a Pokémon Adventurer is a person who ventures through ruins to find treasures. But in Endre's case, he doesn't seem well equipped for that. "Are you perhaps… don't have any kind of jobs or something?"
"No. I travel through multiple regions for explorations. Last week, I travelled to Borrius and managed to meet with the champion there. We even exchanged contacts with each other." Endre told Aika.
Then, a thought struck Aika.
"Wait… How's that any different from a regular backpacker?"
"Well, does a regular backpacker have these?" Endre then pulled some things out from his sling bag, and then showed the ring on his right index finger to her.
"A red Z-Ring, Dynamax Band, Tera Orb, and… a Key Stone?" Aika knew the items that Endre showed to her. "But how come the Key Stone is in this amber colour? I thought it was supposed to be translucent. Where did you get it?"
"Got it from someone. But the thing is that these items show that I'm not a regular trainer."
"You certainly proved that yourself. A Gym Leader would have a headache if you decided to face them fully equipped like that."
"Certainly. That's how I get 16 badges." Endre then showed both of his badge cases, which are from both Hoenn and Sinnoh. "Having a Hoennian mom and Sinnohian dad makes accomodation easier for getting these badges."
"16 badges? That's quite impressive. Perhaps you are interested in becoming a champion?" Aika asked.
"Nah. Being a champion is tiring. Sure, you're seen as the strongest. But it disturbed your lifestyle. The only champion I saw chilling is Leon from Galar. And that said something about it." Endre gave out his reason as to why he opposed becoming a champion.
"At least you aren't the only one thinking like that." The blonde girl muttered.
"What did you just say just now?" The brown haired man asked as he didn't get to hear what she just said.
"Well, we finally arrived at Lenda Town." Aika stopped the jeep, as they had already arrived at the museum where Endre's father wanted to meet him.
"Right… Oh, yeah!" Endre himself forgot to ask about something important to Aika. "What is your job exactly, Aika?"
"Oh! I'm the assistant of Wifiot's leading Pokémon Professor, Prof. Will Aspen." She answered him.
"Ah, so you're aiming to become a Pokémon Professor yourself, huh?"
"Something along the line."
"Well, good luck with that." Endre said as he took his luggage from the jeep's trunk. "If you're smart enough, you'll get to be a prof. before reaching your 30's."
"I hope so. And something tells me that this isn't the last time we're going to see each other."
"What? Interested in going on a date with me?"
"Sorry, little boy. I don't date boys younger than me. Well then, I have to go now."
Aika then drove out from the museum to somewhere else.
"To think I found someone with the same brainwave as me. That's the reason being an adventurer is a cool thing." Endre then pulls a Cherish Ball from the Pokéball's Strap that's on his belt. "We have arrived in a new region. Let's start exploring after dealing with dad's shenanigans, partner."
He stored the Pokéball back to his belt and walked inside the museum.
Colewood Town, Wifiot
In a peaceful town of Colewood, there's a white two storey house where there resides two woman in the house, which are both mother and daughter.
Chop* Chop* Chop*
A woman in her 40's with black hair and eyes is chopping some vegetables in the kitchen.
"Sigh* She hasn't woken up, huh…" The woman there stares at her Chatot that stays on the windows. "Chatty, please wake Emery up."
"Chatot!"
It then flew up through the stairs and went towards one of the rooms upstairs.
"Zzz…"
There's a brown short haired girl wearing pajamas who is still sleeping on her bed. Chatot then landed in front of her face.
"WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"
"WOAH?!"
Thud*
The girl instantly woke up, and fell off from her bed.
"Chatot?" The Pokémon then innocently stared at the fallen human.
"Ugh… Thanks a lot for the alarm, Chatty…" The girl groaned as she stood up from the floor and glared at the Pokémon with her orange eyes.
"Chatot!" It then flew out from her room.
"Sigh*" The girl sighed profusely.
Her name is Emery Ashleigh. A 18 years old girl without a dream of her own. Because her mother doesn't like her coped up in their house all day, she usually run errands for Prof. Aspen who has a laboratory nearby. In that way, she can gain some payout while being productive.
"I don't like to do any jobs today…" Emery muttered as she got dressed up.
After wearing her cyan jacket, white shirt, dark blue jeans and a topaz necklace, she went downstairs to have some breakfast.
As Emery sat down, her mother came out from the kitchen looking disappointed.
"Emery, how come you didn't wear the dress that I bought for you yesterday?" She asked her daughter.
"Like I said, I don't like wearing dresses, mom. Besides, it will only disturbed my work." The brown haired girl replied.
"Well, do you have or want to do any job for today?"
"That depends…"
"From what I see, that means no."
"And your guess is correct."
"Sigh* What has become of you, Emery…"
"I'm like usual, mom. It's not like I've changed a lot or whatnot." The brown haired girl casually replied.
"That's not what I mean. Haven't you looked at your image in the mirror or at your selfies?" Her mother asked.
"I did back then, and I don't take any selfies. You know that, right?"
"I don't mean it like that." Her mother shrugged. "After the divorce between me and your dad, you have changed a lot."
"Yep, thanks for mentioning it again." Emery said while eating her breakfast. "And again, it's his fault. Not yours, mom."
"But I felt somewhat responsible for it. Look at this."
Emery's mother's Rotom Phone then flew at her front. The phone then showed a picture of a younger Emery standing next to a young boy with brown hair and green eyes, which is similar to Emery herself.
"Look how cheerful you looked here next to your first crush." Her mother continued. "And every time I showed this picture to my friend, they always thought that he's either your brother or your cousin."
"Mom… Can you stop with that picture? It's been 5 years. Can't you move on from that?" Emery begged her.
"I can't, sweetheart. It's the first time I saw my own daughter fall in love. And I can't let the chances to get a good in laws slip."
"Ugh… It's been 5 years, mom. He may have already forgotten about me-"
Beep* Beep*
A cyan Rotom Phone then flew out from upstairs.
"You have a message from Prof. Aspen!" The phone said to Emery.
"From Prof., huh… Let's see what he wants now…" The brown haired girl then looked at the screen of phone for a few seconds. "Alright then…"
She stood up from the table and fetched her sling bag.
"Ok, mom. Prof. Aspen had something important to discuss with me. So, I'll head out now." Emery said to her mother.
"Ok, dear! Make sure to not be late for dinner!"
After hearing that, Emery left the house.
"Ah, I hope that girl doesn't waste her youth like this…"
Lenda City, Wifiot
After contacting his father through his Rotom Phone, Endre manages to get to the hidden lab inside the Museum.
As he got into the lab, he saw a few scientists researching some fossils that related to the ancient Pokémon.
"At least it's not messy compared to the labs in Galar…" Endre muttered.
"Well, if it isn't my little adventurer!"
Endre turned around to the source of the voice. A man with grey hair and red eyes in his early 40's wearing paleontologist attire is walking towards him.
"It's been a year since we last saw each other when we met up in Sinnoh, Endre." The man continued.
"Sure, dad." Endre replied back.
The man's name is Andrew Adler. Originally hailing from Sinnoh, he meets Endre's mother, who's his wife, during his excavation on Granite Cave. Despite being a paleontologist, he's also a certified Pokémon Trainer with all 8 badges from Sinnoh's Gym Challenges. Although, he never enters the Sinnoh League.
"Lucario!"
Then, a yellow fur Lucario then appeared behind Andrew.
"Lucius!" Endre excitedly called the Pokémon's name. He then kneels down a little so that he can face the Pokémon. "It's been a while!"
"Lucario!" It then patted Endre's head.
"Hey, I'm not a kid anymore, you know that?" The brown haired man then shrugs off the Pokémon's hand.
"It seems like you're more excited to see my Pokémon than your own flesh and blood." Andrew said with a little bit of spite in his voice.
"Oh, please. Said the guy who missed my birthday 50% of the time. But hey, at least you didn't miss your wedding anniversary every year. That's a plus, even for neglecting your own son." Endre said to him.
"Don't spit poison on me, Endre. This job required me to travel a lot. And besides, I did give you something for your 17th birthday."
"Oh, yeah…" Endre then pulled out a minimized Pokéball and expanded it.
Pop* Bzz*
A Pokémon then came out from it.
Spark*
"Electrode!"
An Electrode then appeared in front of them. But this Electrode looks different from the usual one. It has a wooden texture on it and a black texture under it. It looks like a Pokéball that is made out of wood.
"It seems like you have taken good care of Electrode." Andrew said as he inspected the Pokémon.
"Dad, it's Volta." Endre corrected his father about his Pokémon's name.
"Alright, my bad. But it's not a bad idea for me to let you take care of Volta." The grey haired man said. "We're currently short on manpower to take care of these Pokémon that we found at Spear Pillar."
"These are ancient Pokémon from the past Sinnoh. How come you out of all the people who are short on people?" Endre asked.
"Well… This is a top secret project. These Pokémons are much stronger than their regular counterparts. If an evil organisation managed to lay their hands onto them, it would be disastrous and thousands of Pokédollars would be wasted just like that." Andrew explained the reasoning.
"I see… It's like Team Magma and Team Aqua all over again." Endre summarised.
"We don't talk about that, Endre. We're never going to talk about it, ever again."
Tap* Tap* Tap*
A light footsteps can be heard, as it is approaching both Endre and Andrew. They turned around and saw an elderly man wearing glasses and a white coat.
"Oh, so this is the so-called Hisuian Electrode, huh? Fascinating…" An elderly man who approached them said.
"Ah! Endre, this is Prof. Will Aspen. An acquaintance of mine. He's-"
"Wifiot's leading Pokémon Researcher. Yep, I already knew that from Aika." Endre cut him off. But suddenly, the Prof. then immediately approached him. "Uh…"
"Hmm…" Prof. Aspen stared at Endre's face. "Like father, like son. You have a burning passion in those eyes."
"Um… Thanks?" The brown haired boy is now confused by the professor.
"Don't sweat it, Endre. He did that when we first met as well." Andrew reassured him.
"That doesn't make it better, dad…"
"Well then," The prof. then backed down. "It seems like your son here is trustworthy, Andrew. We can continue the project like usual."
"Wait, what project?" Endre asked.
"To put it in simple terms, we need you to help us to research these Hisuian Pokémons." Andrew explained. "The reason we choose you for it is because you're a suitable candidate for it, since you're the one who discovered that Volta evolved through Leaf Stone."
"Yes. We believe that you will be able to decipher whether or not these Hisuian Pokémons evolve through the same manner as their current counterpart or there is some slight difference in achieving their evolution." Prof. Aspen added.
"Hmm… That seems like a huge job. It's a job that takes a lot of time and-"
"If you managed to help us record the evolution of these Pokémons, the rewards would be around a couple millions of Pokédollars-"
"I'm in." As soon as Endre heard the P-word, he immediately agreed without any objections.
"Sigh* You're like your mother, Endre." Andrew sighed.
"Hahaha! You reminded me of the girl who usually runs my errands. She is also mesmerised when something is involved with money."
"She seems like a very greedy person. I wouldn't want to meet up with her if that's the case." Endre stated.
"Well, at least take a good look at the mirror before you say that to anyone else, Endre." His father told him.
"Whatever. In any case, when can-"
Boom*
Suddenly, a loud explosion can be heard from the outside of the museum.
"Holy Bidoof, what the hell was that?" Endre asked.
A guard then came running towards them.
"Prof. Aspen, it seems like the museum was attacked by a group of Team Toxic grunts!" The guard exclaimed.
"Team Toxic?" The brown haired boy is clueless about it.
"Really? I knew they were a bunch of barbarians, but I had never imagined that they would attack a museum." Prof. Aspen muttered.
"Hey, dad. What is with this 'Team Toxic'?" Endre turned to Andrew.
"Well, son. Team Toxic is a group of rebellious people who wanted to erupt chaos in this region. They would usually attack stores, rob people and pretty much disturbed the peace of Wifiot. Even the police had problems with demolishing them." His father explained.
"If the police had problems with them, then they would surely be a pain in the butt." Endre then turned to the guard. "How long will the police be arriving here?"
"Unfortunately, Lenda's police station is being attacked by another group of Team Toxic. So, we're asking the assistant from outside the city for help-"
Before the guard could finish, his Rotom Phone then flew out straight to his face. His face changed from worried to shocked.
"Darn it! The other guards and their Pokémon have already been poisoned by Team Toxic's Pokémon! If the grunts entered the museum now, it would harm the staff and the visitors."
"The situation here has gotten dire…" Andrew said while scratching his chin. "Alright. Me and my son will handle these grunts. It's a mistake for them to attack when I'm around here. Let's go, Endre!"
"Ok! Volta, return!" Endre returned Volta into its Pokéball, and then joined his father and Lucius running to the entrance of the Museum.
As the father and son went out, Prof. Aspen then brought out his Rotom Phone and called someone.
Colewood Lab, Colewood Town
There's a huge lab up on the hill in Colewood Town that was owned by Prof. Aspen. Since Colewood is his hometown, he decided to build a research lab here.
And from afar, Emery can be seen cycling her way towards the lab.
"I wonder why prof. would ask me to come here when he's literally at Lenda City's Museum…" The brown haired girl wondered.
As she got closer towards the lab, she saw a boy younger than her waiting at the entrance to the lab. The boy then turned around and then saw her.
"Oh, Miss Emery!" The boy called her.
"Oh, Markus! What's bringing you here?" Emery asked.
The boy wearing a black cap, red shirt, white shorts and a sling bag name is Markus Eagon. He's a newbie trainer from a village near Colewood.
"Oh, I'm here for the Pokémon that Prof. promised me about." The boy said to her.
"Pokémon? The starters?"
"Yup! Prof. said something about it. But it seems like he isn't here, isn't he?"
"He's at Lenda's Museum for some project I didn't know of. But I guess he wanted me to give out the starters to you." Emery then brings out a ring of keys. "Wait just a moment. I'm going to open up the laboratory."
As the doors were unlocked, both of them then entered the lab.
"If I remembered correctly, Prof. had only three starter Pokémons left to be given out to new trainers. However, one of them is quite rebellious. So, there's only two Pokémon left, which are Sprigatito and Litten." The girl told the boy.
"If that's the case, then I want Litten as my Pokémon." Markus decided. "Since my ancestors are from Alola, it is fitting for me to have a Pokémon native to Alola."
"That's a great choice."
They then entered Prof. Aspen's office.
"If I remembered correctly, the briefcase containing its Pokéball is around these parts…"
Emery then searches for the Pokéball containing Litten. However…
"Ariados!"
Both of Emery and Markus turned around to the direction of the voice.
"Use Toxic Thread on them!" An unknown girl's voice ordered the attack.
"Ariados!" The Pokémon then shoots out the poisonous threads at both of them.
"There's no way I would let it do that!" Emery then pulled out a Cherish Ball from her Pokéball's Belt. "Slice the threads off, Glaive!"
Pop* Bzz*
"Gallade!"
Swosh*
In a matter of seconds, the thread is shredded.
Sparks*
Sparkles appeared around the blue Gallade that was named Glaive.
Emery then gets closer to her Pokémon to get a good look at her attacker. It as a girl wearing a purpcap, purple jacket over a black shirt and a black shorts.
"You are a part of Team Toxic!" She recognises who she's from her outfit. "What business do you have here?!"
"Oh, nothing… I just wanted the briefcase back there." The Team Toxic grunt then points at the case on Prof. Aspen's table.
"You think I would give it to you since you asked for it?"
"Of course you won't! That's why I attacked you in the first place!" The grunt exclaimed.
"And I wouldn't let you have it!" Emery exclaimed. "Glaive, use Psycho Cut!"
"Gallade!" The Pokémon then rushed at the Ariados while his blade-like hands were powering up with psychic powers.
"Heh!" The female grunt then smirked. "Ariados, use Foul Play!"
"What?!" Emery is surprised to hear that Ariados knows that move.
"Ariados!" The bug Pokémon then swiftly latched towards the Gallade and forced it to attack itself.
Boom* Thud*
In an instant, the Gallade then sent flying back from the impact of the attack.
"Glaive!" Its trainer then turned around and tended towards it.
"How cowardly! I'm not going sit down and do nothing!" Markus then grabbed his Nest Ball and threw it out.
Pop* Bzz*
"Scyther!"
Spark*
A greener Scyther then stood in front of him.
"Ok, Slicy! Use Dual Wingbeat on that Ariados!" Markus ordered it.
"Sycther!" It then flew straight towards Ariados.
"Hah! You fool!" The grunt then pulled out another Pokéball and threw it out.
Pop* Bzz*
"Scolipede!" The Pokémon cried.
"Use Rollout!"
"Scolipede!" The Pokémon then rolled its body up and struck the incoming Scyther.
"Scyther!" The Pokémon flew back from the impact.
"Slicy-"
Thud*
The Scyther was thrown towards its trainer, knocking both of them out.
"Markus!" Emery turned around to see this whole mess. "Darn it!"
She then reached for her other Pokéballs. But then…
"Toxicroak!" The Pokémon's hand is by her neck by a few centimetres.
"Urgh…!" Emery groaned at her disadvantageous position.
"Too bad, errand girl." The grunt gets closer to her. "My Toxicroak's ability is Poison Point. If either of you or it touches each other, I'm afraid you will be staying at the hospital for a while."
The grunt then walked past her and headed towards the briefcase.
"Ugh… What should I do now…" Emery wondered to herself.
With our protagonist on his way facing the threats of this region, and the errand girl having problems with the grunt stealing the starter Pokémons, how will they handle these problems?
