The weeks have passed slowly since that night when Brooke left Houston and left all that behind her. Every day, she tries to close the wound that Lucas left. His rejection, his harsh words still haunt her sometimes, even if she tries to turn the page. He tried to reach her several times after he left, leaving messages that she didn't listen to, sending messages that she never read. She didn't try to understand or know the truth, preferring to preserve the little peace that she had managed to rebuild here, in New York. Today, she is five months pregnant, and despite everything that has happened, the idea of becoming a mother fills her with a sweetness and strength that she would never have imagined. Fortunately, Peyton is by her side. She has been incredible since she came back. She supported her without question, giving her time to heal and find herself. Today, she comes to attend her second ultrasound, the one where they will finally find out if Brooke is having a girl or a boy. Just thinking that she will be there for this moment, touches Brooke deeply. She turns to Peyton, as they settle into the waiting room of the clinic.

Brooke : Thanks for being here, Peyton. I know I could have probably come alone, but... having someone by my side... feels so good.

Peyton : Stop it, honey. This is such a special moment, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! And besides, I have to have someone film your expression when you find out the sex of the baby, right?

Brooke : I'm warning you, if you scream with joy or cry, I'm going to pretend I don't know you, okay?

Peyton : Oh, of course! I bet you'll start bursting into tears as soon as you see that little face on the screen!

Brooke : Maybe... I already feel so close to him or her, you know? Like, despite everything, I'm not alone anymore.

Peyton : It shows. You are already a mother, we feel it in your way of being, of speaking. I am so proud of you.

Brooke feels a gentle warmth invade her heart hearing his words. Peyton has always supported her, even in the worst moments, and there again, she is there, ready to help her face this new stage.

Brooke : Thank you, really, Peyton. I don't know what I would have done without you...

Peyton : Well, lucky for you, you'll never know, because I'll always be there for you and this baby!

The nurse finally calls them, and a slight shiver runs down Brooke's spine, a mixture of nervousness and excitement. She stands up and glances at Peyton, who smiles at her with a sparkling look. She seems just as impatient as she is, if not more. Brooke nods and they head to the ultrasound room. The atmosphere in the hallway is calm, and Brooke tries to remain calm, but a small ball of stress forms in her stomach. The room is welcoming, bathed in soft light, and the gynecologist greets them with a smile. Brooke sits down in the large chair, gently lifting her dress to get ready for the scan. The cool air of the ultrasound makes her shiver for a moment, but she quickly relaxes. Peyton is next to her, holding her hand, his gaze on her with comforting tenderness.

Gynecologist : Are you ready to find out the sex of the baby?

Brooke : Yes, we've been waiting for this for a very long time.

The gynecologist begins the exam, gently guiding the probe over Brooke's belly. The screen lights up and Brooke sees the little being inside her move. It's a strange feeling, but beautiful. Her gaze fixes on the screen, and a smile escapes her as she sees the little body forming inside.

Peyton : It's incredible... it's so real now.

Brooke smiles at her, a little moved, and focuses back on the screen. After a few minutes, the gynecologist stops, her gaze intently on the image.

Gynecologist : Congratulations, you're having a baby girl!

Time seems to stop at that moment. Brooke stands there frozen, her eyes glued to the screen, the gynecologist's words running through her head. A little girl... She can hardly believe it, can barely grasp the full significance of this news. Peyton bursts with joy at her side, squeezing her hand so hard that Brooke can feel it vibrate with emotion.

Peyton : I can't believe it. You're having a little girl!

Brooke takes a deep breath, her heart pounding, and she lets her tears flow down her cheeks, a smile on her lips all the same.

Brooke : I'm so happy.

She puts her hand on her belly, as if to feel her, to feel even more this bond with her, with this little being she's carrying.

Peyton : It's beautiful, Brooke... I'm so happy for you. A little girl! She's going to be so lucky to have a mom like you.

Brooke : I don't know if I'm ready for that, Peyton. But I'll do anything for her.

Peyton : You're going to be great, I don't doubt it for a second. She'll be pampered, loved... I can feel it.

Brooke looks back at the screen, and she feels overwhelmed with emotion. This little girl, she's a part of her, a new life, a new chance. And suddenly, she feels ready to face whatever comes her way, for her daughter. Because she's worth it. The gynecologist continues the exam, giving Brooke some more information, but she's lost in her thoughts, in the happiness she feels. Everything around her fades a little, and there's only this little life growing inside her.

When the exam ends, the gynecologist asks Brooke if she has any questions, but she just smiles, a sincere smile, almost without words. She and Peyton both get up and head out of the room.

Peyton : You're going to be an amazing mom, Brooke. I'm so proud of you.

Brooke : I'm having a little girl, Peyton... can you believe it!

She repeats these words, as if to make them more real, more tangible. She looks at her best friend and she feels more ready than ever. This little girl, she would carry her until the end, she would be there for her. Because she is her strength now.

Back in her apartment, Brooke puts down her things, still slightly in shock. Peyton follows her and sits on the couch while Brooke makes them coffee. Brooke hands her a cup and sits down opposite her. Peyton looks at her, a gleam of determination in her eyes, as if she were about to discuss an important subject.

Peyton : Look, I've been thinking, and I think you can't just stay here and avoid things forever.

Brooke : What do you mean?

Peyton : I think you should come with me to Houston to talk to Lucas. You have too much unsaid between you. You can't keep carrying this alone.

Brooke : But Peyton, you saw what he said to me, what he thinks of me. He rejected me, he was... so hurtful. I don't see the point in going over it again.

Peyton : There are things you may not understand yet. What I mean is, sometimes people say things out of pain or confusion. Do you really think Lucas didn't feel anything for you? That that kiss was just a mistake?

Brooke : Maybe... I don't know, Peyton. I do have feelings for him. But I'm so tired of this internal struggle. He won't even know I'm having a little girl.

Peyton : Exactly, Brooke. You're having a baby, and this is also his story, his family. I'll remind you that she's his brother's daughter. You don't want to deprive her of all that, and... imagine what that could change, for you and for him.

Brooke : What if I'm kidding myself? What if he doesn't want to know anything about me or the baby?

Peyton : You have to give yourself at least one chance to know, to free yourself from these questions. Maybe he doesn't want to know, but he deserves to understand, to know who you are, who this person is with whom he shared such an intense moment.

Brooke : You're right, but it scares me. It's so much easier to stay here, to run away from all this.

Peyton : But it's not by running away that you'll find the answers. Come to Houston, talk to him. Tell him the truth, tell him about your feelings, and about this little girl who's coming. If you stay here, you risk living with these doubts, with this uncertainty... and I know that's not what you want for yourself, or for your daughter.

Brooke : Okay. I'll think about it... but if I take this step, I'll need you by my side.

Peyton : Always, my dear. I'll be there every moment.

Brooke takes a deep breath, feeling the weight of this decision, but also a strange sense of release. Maybe going back to Hosuton is exactly what she needs to put an end to this story... or, who knows, to start a new chapter.
