(With Harry)
Harry was in the bakery. Today it was just him since Bella had school and then she was going to study at Angela's house. He was happy to see her so happy. He was just getting everything set up when Bella's friend Mike entered. Harry looked at him and could see something on his mind.
"Good morning Mike. Is everything okay?" He asked.
"Um…"
"Is this about Bella?" He asked.
"What?" He was shocked.
"Is this about Bella?" He repeated.
"H-how?" He asked.
"Your crush on her is obvious to everyone but herself." He told him.
"O-oh." He was bright red.
"Don't be embarrassed. I have had some obvious crushes when I was a teen." He said.
"Really?" He asked, surprised. 'But he is so cool.'
"Really. I hid I was gay because my relatives were homophobic and my best friends at the time wanted me with a certain person. The boy I liked was a rival house. The few times we interacted it was obvious. Luckily the people I hid it from never realized it." He chuckled.
"I want to ask her out but…" He trailed off.
"Yes?" He asked when Mike remained silent.
"I'm scared. Last time I asked she didn't realize it was a date. She brought her friend Jacob and he laughed at me because I couldn't handle a horror movie. What if she doesn't like me that way?" He admitted.
"Ah! You will never know unless you ask. In all honesty it is hard to tell if she likes you. This time if you ask her to the movies or anywhere make sure you tell her that it will be a date." He said, 'Jacob laughed at someone for not being able to handle horror? What the hell?' He didn't like that.
"What if she says no?" He bit his lip.
"Then you know she doesn't like you and you can move on. Blaise, the boy I like, told me no. Look where I am now." He said.
"He turned you down?" That shocked him.
"Yes. He was straight but if I never asked I probably would have kept crushing on him and not exploring other options." He told him.
"Hmm." That gave him something to think about.
"Mike?" The kid stared off into space for way too long.
"Y-yes?" He snapped out of it.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Just thinking. Thank you. Bye." He left.
"Bye and you're welcome." He smiled.
"Playing matchmaker?" Charlie asked, walking out of the kitchen.
"What?" He dramatically said as he looked at his fiancé.
The brunette gave him an unimpressed look. "Why are you setting my daughter up?" He asked.
"One, I like Mike. He's a nice kid. Secondly I am not setting them up. I am just telling him to go for it. It is better than wondering." He said.
"True." He agreed with him there.
"I don't know how Bella feels. We aren't close enough to talk about things like that. I wouldn't set someone up with her without knowing if she likes someone like that or already has a crush on someone." He said.
"That is good to know." He said.
"Did you get everything?" He asked.
"I did. Thanks for baking a few things for the station. It's hard to believe my receptionist is finally going to have a baby. It has been seven years since she gave up. She had planned to adopt since she knew she was infertile and those bastards had the audacity to deny her because she had been suicidal when she was thirteen." He shook her head.
"That is ridiculous. I would see if it was recent but not when she was thirteen. If I remember correctly she had lost her family in a fire and she was the only survivor, correct?" He looked at him.
"Correct." He said.
"Disgusting. She had survivor's guilt. I know what that is like." He sighed.
Charlie hugged his fiancé. He too found it disgusting that they rejected Pamela just because she had been suicidal in the beginning of her teen years. It was ridiculous. He wished he knew what the social worker's problem was. Luckily she wasn't around anymore.
Pamela had been raised by her aunt. Her cousin and her were close. When she ended up pregnant but not wanting a baby she immediately contacted her cousin. Pamela and her husband agreed and now they were going to be parents.
"Just call me if you need anything else." Harry said.
"I will." Charlie promised.
The two shared a kiss before Charlie took the baked goods and left. Harry smiled and went back to work. Almost everyone that came in talked about Pamela becoming a mom. They were all happy for her. They had always believed she would make a great mother and now she was going to.
(With Mike)
Mike went home. He went to his room and shut the door. He laid down on his bed and thought over what Harry had said to him. It had been on his mind the whole time and now that he was alone he didn't try to stop those thoughts.
[What should I do? If I don't ask her out I will never know if she likes me. If I do and she rejects me it will hurt.] He thought.
He always wondered if Bella had known he had asked her out on a date last time. Did she bring her friend as a way of telling him she only thought of him as a friend or did she generally not know. He also knew she was still in love with Edward at that point in time.
[She isn't with Edward anymore. This time she broke up with him.] He thought.
Mike knew that this time Bella was the one to break up with Edward. It wasn't the other way around. She was also acting differently after the breakup. She wasn't like a zombie. Maybe he had a chance this time. If not, maybe he would finally be able to just move on.
"Tomorrow." He said out loud. "I'm going to ask her out and this time I will make sure she knows it is a date."
