Chapter Eight- Marriage
Andrea showed up back to her apartment, where Philip was waiting with Addison. After talking with Philip's attorney, Andrea knew Addison's father wanted her niece to be raised in a two parent home. He is concerned that she wouldn't financially be able to support Addison. A DNA test would be taken and if he was in fact her father. If he was proven to be the father and not one of her sister's ex-boyfriends ,she knew he would get custody. To make everything worse he was refusing to meet with her.
She knew how the law and everything was against her in this case. She sits down with Philip on the sofa, and he pulls into his arms.
"I am sorry you weren't able to go to work today. I have got to find Addison a new daycare. The appointment with the lawyer, didn't go well. I am going to need a miracle," she says putting her head on his lap.
"I can make this all go away," he says knowing he wouldn't be rejected now. She looked broken and that is when he knew he could win.
"But I am guessing the offer is conditional, you will help me once I am your wife. Am I correct?" she asks already knowing his answer.
"I will feel more secure once we are married. I love you and Addison. I want us to legally adopt Addison together. I am not being unreasonable. Most men would have given up the first time you said no. I didn't give up on you. I love you,"he says feeling annoyed.
Part of him wants to tell her the truth and let her know she doesn't really have a choice. But he doesn't. Instead he decides to show her the diamond engagement ring, holding the ring box where she can see it.
"I got your engagement ring," he says looking into her big blue eyes.
"You really think you can make this all go away?" She asks feeling completely helpless. She knew he was rich and powerful. What other option did she have but to ask him for help?
"You have no idea how many judges I know and how much power I have. I promise you, I can make this all go away," he says sliding the diamond ring on her finger together.
"But only if I marry you?" she questions him.
"I want to know that you won't disappear on me again. You were gone a month. I don't think I am being unreasonable. I'll take care of you both. All you have to do is set the wedding date," he says moving closer to her.
Andrea is feeling overwhelmed. She went to college to be a lawyer and never had planned on being a mother. Philip Blake had been offering to help her emotionally and financially support her and Addison. She wanted to make things easier. And Addison needed a father.
"I took two weeks off work. So we could get everything straighten out. Promise me I won't lose Addison, we can go to the courthouse tomorrow," she says.
"We could get married tonight,"he says not wanting to wait any longer.
"How?"
"Judge Todd Marble is a close friend. He could come over with the paperwork. We exchange vows and just like that we'll be a real family," he says, afraid she'll change her mind if they wait until morning.
"But I don't have a dress, shoes, and no one to take photos,"she breathes. She just wants to wait a few more hours. What could that hurt?
"Sweetheart, I have everything already. I've been waiting for you to say yes. I knew you were the one from the first time I saw you,"he admits.
She looks over at Addison, her blonde hair and big blue eyes. She looks exactly like Amy. Then she looks over at Philip. Amy wanted her daughter taken care of. Philip would make sure Addison had the best life. Here he is offering to marry her again.
"So what do you say should I call Todd?"
"Yes, we will get married tonight," she agrees.
He pulls her into his arms kissing her lips. Tonight she would finally be his wife tonight. She would belong to him.
