Dawn was rising on the Owl House. The wind howled as it entered through a window into the room the Noceda siblings were sleeping. Luz rolled in her sleeping bag as she dreamed about the events of yesterday.

"Stop adorably hopping away, you... Huh?" Luz said as she followed the owl

"Oh, dear child, I'm not like you." Eda said as she revealed her ears.

"Welcome to... the Owl House." Eda snapped her fingers as the house decorations came to life.

The last sequence in her dream was her and her brother riding away from the Conformatorium with Eda and King on her owl staff.

Meanwhile, Hunter was having a different dream, one that he has not experienced in a long time. He was in the dark void again, being moved against his will as the unrecognizable voices roared around him. He tried to yell out, but like all those years ago, he couldn't make a sound. He covered his ears in order to block them and crouched to the floor. Suddenly, a bright rectangle illuminated the dark void as Hunter looked up at it. It drew closer to him as he put his arms up to his face and let out a silent scream.

Both teenagers woke up with a gasp as they looked around the room. "It wasn't a dream." Luz said, her mood turned into a happy one as she got up and giggled.

"No, no, no…" Hunter groaned as he put his hands to his face.

Luz went to the open window and looked outside "Good morning, terrifying fantasy world!" She said in excitement.

"Good morning." A large sea monster said as it sank back to the ocean. Luz let out a disgusted groan as she went back to her sleeping bag, where King was still sleeping.

"Good morning, you little cutie-pie." She said as she picked him up, waking him, and began to give him kisses on his head.

"I am not your cutie-pie!" King yelled out in annoyance as he tried to break free from her grasp.

"Yes, you are." She said as she continued to baby him.

King sighed in defeat. "I know." he said.

Luz put him down as she turned to attention to her brother, who still had his hands to his face. "Buenos días, hermano. Ready for our first day as witch apprentices?" She said with excitement. Hunter groaned as he raised his head, his face was tired.

"Please tell me I'm still dreaming." He said.

"Nope, this is as real as real gets." Luz said, her mood not dampening at his response.

Hunter sighed as he got up from his sleeping bag. "Alright then, I'm going to the bathroom to freshen up." He said as he left the room and entered the hallway. He found it and opened the door, where a couple of owls flew out, startling him. He walked backwards into the bathroom, unknowingly bumping into Hooty.

"Hi, Hunter!" Hooty said. Hunter turned around and screamed at him before karate chopping him in the face. "Ow! I'm just wishing you a good morning." Hooty said annoyed before retreating back to the front door through the window. "Jeez! Hoot! Ow!"

"Don't scare me like that!" Hunter said as he went to freshen up. Moments later, Hunter left the bathroom, ready and dressed. His sister, now dressed, entered it as he got out. Luz opened her book to a portrait of Azura, smiling in delight.

"This is it, old girl. Your first day on the Boiling Isles, as a witch apprentice. Hyah!" she said as she punched the air.

"Are you getting ready in there?" Hunter asked.

"Yes, I'll be out shortly." Luz responded.

The two teens were walking towards a closet door. Luz approached it and closed her eyes as she opened it. "Please have witchy clothes. Please have witchy clothes. Please have witchy clothes." She said as she opened her eyes and saw a bunch of witches clothes and gear. Luz beamed a large smile. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" She screamed in excitement.

"I am not wearing any of that." Hunter said as Luz entered the closet to get dressed, closing the door. A little while later, she came out wearing a black robe with a red belt tied around her waist along with a black pointed hat on her head. On the left side of her chest was a name tag that said 'Witch Apprentice Luz'. "How do I look?" Luz asked her brother.

"Is this really necessary?" Hunter asked.

"Yes it is." She said as both of them heard Eda downstairs in the kitchen. "Come on, let's go." Luz then ran down the stairs to the kitchen, with Hunter walking his way there. Eda was sitting at the table with a mug in her hand. She was still wearing her pajamas, which was a plum sweater with amber cuffs, a violet nightgown, and yellow bunny slippers. She held a mug in her hand and was still tired, her body getting used to being awake.

Luz spoke. "Good morning, Eda the Owl Lady. I am ready for my first day of Witch Apprenticeship." She said with a smile.

Eda took a sip and looked over at the two teens. "Ugh!" She groaned as she shook spiders out of her hair, along with one out of her ear. "Who are you, again?" She asked.

Luz's expression fell as she watched Eda take another sip from her mug. "Remember us? Luz and Hunter? We freed the oppressed and defeated the evil warden together? Yesterday?" She said, hoping to kickstart Eda's memory.

"Did you seriously forget what happened at the Conformatorium?" Hunter asked with a bit of concern.

"Kids, lay off the details. I haven't even had my cup of apple blood yet." Eda said as she drank the apple blood from her mug.

"You mean apple juice?" Luz asked.

"No." Eda said bluntly.

Eda continued to drink as King sat on the table, poking a yellow blob with eyes on a plate with a fork. However, Luz didn't let up on her mission to be a witch's apprentice. "Teach me some spells. When do I get a magic staff? Was I supposed to bring my own runes?" She gasped. "Do you have a dangerous magical quest for me?" She said with wonder in her eyes.

"No. No dangerous magical quest for you." Hunter said as he dragged Luz back to him. "You're not doing any of that whatsoever." He said to her.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, kid. Being a witch doesn't happen overnight." She said as she took a good look at Luz's attire. "Also, you're wrapped in a bathrobe and wearing the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen." Confused, Luz took her witch hat off and blew on it, revealing that it was a traffic cone with a thick amount of dust on it. Hunter giggled while King laughed. "But a magic staff, huh? You really want one?" She asked. Luz smiled as she nodded her head as quickly as she could. Eda held out her hand. "Magic staff, come to me!" She commanded. A few seconds went by before the sounds of objects crashing and breaking filled the hallway that connected to the kitchen. Everyone turned and looked at the hallway as the sounds continued, with Eda eventually becoming annoyed until her staff flew out of the hallway and smacked her in the face before falling to the ground.

She grunted and quickly picked up her staff from the floor. "It's early. Now, witches are awarded their staffs from school. With me as your teacher, you'll be taking a different approach. You'll have to work for it." She said as she dropped a bag of potions in front of the teens. She then led both through the living room. "I run a few businesses. On weekends, I offer rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from your side of the realm." She said as she pressed a button on a toy sword resting on top of the fireplace.

"I shall smite my enemies! Ages six to eleven." The sword said as it lid up in a green light. She then tossed it away.

"But most days I sell only the finest homemade elixirs and potions." She said. Luz put the bag down as she pulled out a bottle from the bag.

"Snake Oil?" She said as she read the label.

"Yeah. No one wants an un-oiled snake. Follow me, you two." Eda said as she and the two teens walked to a balcony on the house. "Today you'll deliver packages and sell potions to that town over there, Bonesborough." She explained. "You'll have to be careful. I have rivals everywhere who'd love to take my business down and you along with it." She warned as the two looked at her. "You wanted a dangerous magical quest? Sister, you've got one."

"So basically, we're going to be your errand boys for today?" Hunter asked.

"Yep." Eda said, causing Hunter to groan. But this didn't deter Luz.

"I won't let you down, Miss Eda." She said as she turned towards Eda and gave her a salute. However, the bag slipped out of her hands and fell over the balcony. Thankfully, Hunter managed to catch it before it hit the ground.

"Better be careful next time, manita." He said as he gave the bag back to Luz.

All three returned to the living room, where Hunter and Luz listened to Eda giving them instructions before they left, "Remember, never befriend a man in sandals and always measure twice, cut once." She said.

"Wait, what?" Hunter said.

"Uhh…" Luz said.

"Good luck!" Eda said as she slammed the door closed before turning to a sleeping King by the window. "I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you have to go with them." She said.

"What? But I just found the perfect spot. Why do I have to go?" King said, mad that his nap was interrupted.

"You and I know they're either going to get lost or eaten, probably both." She argued.

"No, we won't." Luz said as she pressed her face to the window.

"We can hear you, you know." Hunter said.

Eda closed the window blinds before continuing. "And because you work for me too, unless you want to start paying rent." She said. King threw a short tantrum, but ultimately joined Luz and Hunter outside. "Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril." Eda said to the three as she closed the door.

"Have a nice trip. Hoot." Hooty said.

"Alright, let's get this over with." King said as the group began to walk to Bonesborough.

The group soon reached the town, with them walking through an archway at the town's entrance. Luz and Hunter looked around at the town, seeing various strange buildings and creatures living their lives. They ranged from monsters to demons with all types of variety in between. King noticed the teens standing still and taking in the sights before them.

"Hey you two, it's rude to stare." He said, catching their attention.

Luz was the first to talk. "I've only seen places like this in my dreams. It's incredible. And my brother and I are the only humans here?" Luz said as she spun around in excitement at the idea of being in a fantasy adventure setting.

"Well you're the only human here. Remember, Hunter's a witch, like Eda." King said, which rubbed Hunter the wrong way.

"Hey, I'm not like her. I'm human," Hunter retorted.

King sighed. "Okay, whatever you say. It still doesn't deny the fact that you're a witch." He said as he began to walk away.

Hunter grunted, but Luz put her hand on her shoulder. "Hey, I don't care if you are a witch, you're still my brother and I love you no matter what." She said as she hugged him before beginning to walk in the direction of King. "Come on, we got some potions to deliver." She said. Hunter joined them as they started their deliveries. While walking to their first destination, Luz looked around at the buildings and residents. "Wow! There must be a reason for why I'm here. What if I, Luz Noceda, average teen, actually had...:" She let out a gasp "a predetermined path of greatness? Just like Azura."

"You really need to stop reading those books, Luz." Hunter said.

"Yeah. Did Azura's path to greatness involve her delivering boil cream?" King said as he pulled out a potion bottle that said 'Boil B Gone'.

"Today I'm delivering packages, but tomorrow I'll be earning the respect of everyone on the Boiling Isles with my magical prowess." Luz said, her enthusiasm not faltering for one bit.

"...Luz, I don't know whether I should be inspired or concerned about your dedication." Hunter said in a slightly worried tone.

"Ay, no te preocupes hermano." Luz said.

"Well good luck. The Boiling Isles is nothing but a cesspool of despair." King said.

"More like a cesspool of delight." Luz responded back.

The three would spend the day delivering the potions to their respective customers. However, it was littered with various bad encounters and the overall experience was lackluster at best. The group sat at a corner on the street, thinking about the day so far. King sighed. "I know I've had enough delight for one day." He said as he laid on his back.

"Well this was boring." Hunter said as he sighed.

"I thought being the only human in a magical world would make me special. But apparently, it just makes everyone want to scream at me or eat me." Luz said as she lifted her arm, showing a small winged creature biting her forearm. Hunter grabbed it and flung it away as far as he could. "Thank you." She said to him before opening up her Good Witch Azura book. "At this point, Azura had already been sent on an enchanted quest. Where's my quest-granting wizard?" She said.

"Sorry to break it to you, Luz, but no one here is that well-dressed." King responded.

"This has been a rough day." Hunter said as he got up and picked up the bag. He pulled out a piece of paper. "Come on guys, let's just deliver this last package and go back to the Owl House." The group walked through an alleyway as they got closer to their final stop.

"Maybe this world isn't what I thought it wa-" Luz stopped herself as she saw the sight before her. The group looked at a large white castle with golden banners that were illuminated by the sunlight. The doorbell was made of gold, and towering wooden doors made up the entrance to it. Both her and Hunter gasped. "Pretty." Luz said, enchanted by the sight. She pressed the doorbell and the doors opened up.

"Woah." Hunter said. "Whoever this castle belongs to must be either rich, a very important person, or both." He said.

"Big houses always belong to big whack jobs." King said uninterested. "Let's kick the package inside and get outta here." He said as the two teens ignored him and walked inside.

"Hello?" Luz said as she entered, with Hunter following her.

"Hey wait." King said as he ran inside, the doors closing as soon as he got in. "Weh?" he said in surprise.

Hunter took the lead as the group entered a room. "Hello? We're delivering a package from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady."

Suddenly, Lanterns began to light themselves around the room, revealing it to be a massive library. The lanterns illuminate a grand staircase, above which is a painting of a wizard. It showed him as an elderly male witch with tan skin, long gray hair and beard with a mustache, wearing glasses, a light purple cap, same colored robes with yellow stars and sandals. The wizard himself walked into view in front of the painting, even striking the same pose. Luz smiled brightly. "Today just got good." She said.

The wizard began to walk down the stairs. "I was in my oscillarium, reading the stars. And who might you be, with eyes full of curiosity?" He said. Luz was having difficulty introducing herself, but before she could talk, the wizard quickly approached her. "Young lady, dareth I say, I sense something unique about you." He said as he summoned three chairs and a table of snacks. "Please, won't you and your company join me for tea?" He said as he sat down on his throne chair.

"Okay" Luz said with excitement before Hunter put his hand on her shoulder to stop her.

"I don't trust him, sis." He warned.

King grabbed her leg. "Come on, let's scram. Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets." He said as he tried to pull her away. The wizard then pulled out glitter from his robe pocket and sprinkled it to the floor.

"But the stars on his robe are sparkling. And look, there's a baby fox in his beard." She said as a baby red fox appeared from the wizard's beard and giggled, before retreating back in. "Plus, I see scones on the table." She said.

This put King in a good mood because he immediately looked at the table with interest. "Where?!" He asked before running to it and eating the food on it.

"We'd love to join you for tea, Sir Wizard." Luz said as she took a seat on her chair, though Hunter didn't sit and kept an eye on the wizard. "Do you also sell potions?" She asked.

"Please, call me Adegast. Ma'am, yes, I run a small business." Adegast introduced himself as he answered her question. "I'm surprised to see you two here. It was my understanding that Eda delivered the packages herself.

"Well, I'm kinda her apprentice, and he's my brother." Luz explained with a smile.

"How interesting, I never heard of a human having a witch sibling." Adegast said, which got on Hunter's nerves. "But I guess that's the wonder of life, you never know what to expect." He chuckled. "how are you finding the experience so far?" He asked.

Luz's smile fell before sighing. "Can I be honest, Mr. Adegast? When I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought I was meant for something special. But Eda thinks I'm meant for chores and I'm afraid I came to the wrong place." She explained in a sad tone.

"Hmm." Adegast rose from his chair and walked towards Luz. "I have a question. Would you like to go on a quest?" He asked.

Luz smiled excitedly when she heard that. "Yes!" She said.

"Then I might have just the thing." Adegast said as he pulled out a map from his beard and unrolled it. "The prophecy speaks of a young human girl who will claim the Celestial Staff and free this world from an ancient evil. Perhaps thou hath cometh here for a reason." He explained.

"Perhaps I hath." Luz said as she took the map.

"Should you believe yourself worthy to attempt this quest, you need to know the road is dark and perilous." The wizard said, which peaked Luz's interest.

"Love peril. Big fan of peril." She said as Adegast continued.

"And only the Chosen One can pull the staff from its post." He finished.

Her eyes widened at what he said. "Chosen one." she said in a whisper.

Hunter spoke up. "Okay I've heard enough. Old prophecy, a magic staff, ancient evil, and her being the Chosen One? Yeah this is obviously a load of BS." He said, which caused Luz to gasp at him.

"Hunter!" Luz yelled.

"Manita, this old dude is just telling you what you want to hear. I mean, did you hear his 'quest'? It's so cliche. This guy is just taking you for a ride." He said as he pointed at the wizard.

"Do mind your manners, young boy. I have no ill intentions, I'm just merely helping your sister by giving her a magic quest like she wanted." Adegast said.

Hunter glared at him "Well excuse me for looking out for my sister when a weird old man is sending her on a dangerous mission." He said as he grabbed the bag of potions. "Come on, Luz. We're heading back."

"Plus your food is gone, so we're outta here." King said as he held up an empty plate.

"Yes, we have to go. And pack for this enchanted quest! I'm in." Luz said as she took the map.

Adegast smiled. "Wonderful. Good luck on your journey!" He said as the group left the castle and went back home.

Later at the Owl House, Luz was busy swinging around the toy sword. Around her were various potions, food, the quest scroll, and her Azura book. "So, King, what kind of Chosen One should I be?" She asked as she swung the sword around again. "Should I be full of optimism and goodness, like the Good Witch Azura? Or should I be like a bad girl Chosen One with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude?" She then picked up her book and used it as a puppet. "I act like I don't care, but I secretly do." She said.

Hunter walked into the room. "Please tell me you aren't going to do that quest?" He said as he heard Luz earlier.

"Hey, what's going on here?" Eda said as she popped up from the door frame.

"Eda, tell Luz how dumb wizards are." King said as he laid down on Luz's sleeping bag.

"Ugh! Wizards are the worst. Never trust a man in casual drapery." Eda said. "Why?"

King began to snicker. "Your wizard client told Luz…" He chuckled. "she was a-" He laughed. "was a Chosen One!" He completely lost it as he laughed uncontrollably.

"Wait, wait, Luz? Say it ain't so?" Eda said as she began to laugh with KIng.

"He even gave her a map!" King said as both rolled on the floor laughing. Hunter began to chuckle until he saw Luz hiding her embarrassed face behind her book. He went by her side and put his arm around her to comfort her.

"Hey, I don't think you're dumb. But sometimes when something is too good to be true, it probably is. Especially coming from an old stranger." He said.

"Hey, let me see that map." Eda said. Luz got out the map from her bag and gave it to Eda. She inspected it for a bit. "You didn't think this was real, did you? This map is bunk. There's no lake with a Celestial Staff on the Boiling Isles. If there was, I would have stolen it ages ago." She explained, causing Luz to look down in disappointment. "Ah, don't worry. Couple more months here and you won't look like such a mark." She said as she gave the map back.

"Can I have some time alone?" Luz asked sadly. Everyone left the room, with Hunter closing the door on his way out. "Maybe they were right." She said as she sat against the wall with the window. She looked at the map, where the sunlight was shining on one corner of the map, revealing the word "one" in shining blue lettering. "Huh" Luz said as she held the entire map up to the light revealing the message:

'The chosen one. The path will only appear to the worthy'.

"The path will only appear to the worthy." Luz read before gasping in realization. "That's why Eda couldn't see it. But am I… really worthy?" Wind howled through the open window, causing the map to fly out of her grasp and land next to her book. The pages flip to show Azura standing loved and triumphant on a small hill, the people around her applauding as she holds a staff to the sun. "I'll never know unless I try." Luz said as she packed her things again.

A little while later, Hunter entered the room to check on his sister. "Hey Luz, Eda is asking more about that wizard we visited. She says she doesn't know him that well and-" He said as he stopped himself when he saw that the room was empty, with the window wide open. "Oh no. Eda!" Hunter yelled as he ran downstairs to the living room.

"My first mythical quest. Ha!" Luz cheered as she slid down on an incline outside of Bonesborough. A thick fog rolled in as she began to walk through the woods. "Okay. Got my scroll, got my youthful optimism, got my trusty weapon." She said as she pulled the sword and pressed the button, causing it to light up.

"By the power of Skullgar, I am out of battery." It said as its power died.

This didn't deter Luz, as she continued walking, avoiding branches and cutting through foliage. "You know, I wonder if I made the right choice by doing this?" She asked herself before reaching a small village populated by sentient cats. "Wow" She said as she started at the village in wonder. She walked through the village, her face beaming as she looked around. She approaches a fountain in the middle of a square, where a muscular tan skinned witch with long black hair and brown eyes popped out from the water. He was wearing a green sleeveless, an eyepatch over his right eye, a golden shoulder guard on his left shoulder, white pants, black fingerless gloves and battle boots. He had a red holster strapped to his waist carrying a large sword on his side. He flipped his hair out of his face and looked at Luz.

"I see. So you're the Chosen One." He scoffed. "The Celestial Staff should've picked me, Nevareth Bladestrife, Teen Prince of Angstmore." He said dramatically as he flexed his arms, showing off his toned biceps.

Luz stared at them, slightly aroused. "Yes. Yes, I did make the right choice." She said.

Meanwhile, King was leading Eda and Hunter through the alleyway where they found Adegast's castle. He sniffed the ground and pointed in the direction where it was. "This is where we met the scones. I mean, the wizard." He said as the two raced ahead. They found the castle, but it was in a ruined, decaying state, sections of it were either missing or damaged along with the banners ripped apart. "Whoa. It wasn't like this before." King said in a surprised tone.

"I don't like this." Eda said.

"Oh no." Hunter said as he ran inside the castle and into the library room where they met Adegast. Tattered scrolls littered the floor, shelves were broken, the paintings were ripped, and chunks of debris were blocking the stairs. Hunter looked at the mess around him in worry. "Luz! Luz, where are you?!" He yelled out as Eda and King caught up with him. Eda noticed the scrolls on the floor and picked them up. She noticed that all of them showed the glowing message of: 'The chosen one'.

"I really don't like this." Eda said. Hunter noticed the scrolls and began to panic a little on her sister's whereabouts.

"Luz, where are you?" He said in a worried tone.

Back at the woods, Luz was walking with Nevareth along with a flying onion creature with bat wings. "Nevareth, your vengeful backstory is so compelling." She complimented him. "And I'm lovin' your animal sidekick." She said as she pointed to the flying creature, making it giggle.

"After my village was consumed, my heart has known nothing but vengeance." Nevareth said in a dramatic tone as they both stopped walking.

"Nevareth…" Luz said in concern of him.

"Lady Luz, do you think love can bloom on the battlefield?" He said as he turned around and looked at her in slight affection.

"Oooh~, this quest is questing in all the right ways~." She said as she turned around, trying to hide her blush.

The group then walked to a small bridge, where they yelped in surprise as a shaggy cat creature wearing a brown hat, top, gloves and boots, jumped in front of them. It proceeded to dance. "Hum-di-diddle, to pass the bridge, you must first solve my riddle." He said.

"Hit me, little furry man." Luz said.

"Your quest shall stop if you fail this game. So tell me, my dear, what is my name?" He said rhyming.

Luz bent down as she looked closer at him, she noticed a name tag that said 'Chris' on it. "Uh... Chris?" She said.

"That's it. You may cross the bridge. And please take this, Chosen One. It shall help you on your journey." Chris said as he held out a ring with a blue gem on it.

"Wow. This is amazing. Thank you." Luz said as she took it and put it on her finger. Nevareth approached her.

"Do you need a cape?" He asked.

"Nah, I think I'm goo-" Luz said before he interrupted her.

"You can use my shirt." He said as he ripped it off, revealing his toned pecs and abs. Luz stared at them in awe as Nevareth tied his shirt on her like a cape.

"Yes. I need a cape." She said as she giggled.

"Three cheers for the Chosen One." Nevareth said. "Hip, hip…"

"Hooray!" The rest cheered.

"Hip, hip…"

"Hooray!"

Luz began to blush at the praise she was getting. She felt that she'd finally gotten her dream of being a witch, like Azura.

"Hip, hip…"

"Oh no."

Eda said as she, King, and Hunter approached the cat village Luz had visited earlier. Like the castle, the whole place was in a state of ruin and decay, with wild plants and vines overtaking it.

"King, are you sure she came here?" Hunter asked him, hoping that Luz was not in danger.

King sniffed the ground. "Can't mistake her smell. Like lemons and young, naïve confidence." He said to Hunter. The teen looked and ran up to the fountain, which was now broken and covered in dying vines. A cat villager was wrapped in them and laying in the lower empty basin.

He grabbed the cat. "Hey, What have you done with my sister?!" He yelled as he shook it. "What's your deal?!"

"To find your sister and still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path." The cat cackled as it slowly disintegrated in Hunter's hands. He yelped in disgust, jumping back at what happened.

"The cat man melted!" King yelled.

Eda approached the water fountain as she looked at the path ahead. "It's a trap. They want me to follow Luz." She said.

"So what do we do?" King asked her.

"We go and find her, King. That's what we'll do." Hunter said as he began to run towards the path. However, Eda stopped him.

"No Hunter, you need to go back to the house. King and I will continue and get Luz back." She said, which angered him.

"No way! My sister is in danger and I'm not going to sit back and do nothing!" he said. "I'm going with you, whether you like it or not!" He proclaimed. Eda looked at him and then at the path, wondering what to do.

Luz's group continued to walk through the woods, a fairy princess had now accompanied them as they got closer to the Celestial Staff. Luz turned to talk to the fairy princess. "Thank you for inviting me to your feast, Princess. All your food was so tiny and cute." She said.

The fairy giggled before creating two golden bracelets. "For you, Chosen One."

She took the bracelets and put them on. "Thank you. You have all been so kind and thoughtful." She said to her group of companions. She struck a pose. "I hope this quest never ends." She said happily.

"Your quest will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek is around the bend." Chris said.

"Thanks for ruining the mood, Chris." Luz said, slightly annoyed at him for ruining the mood.

"Go on, Chosen One. The Celestial Staff is yours. You've earned it." Nevareth cheered her on, with the rest of the group joining in to show their support. Luz smiled as she waved goodbye as she ventured deeper into the woods alone. Birds tweeted as they flew overhead, casting long shadows below them. Luz continued on the path, before slowing to a stop and gasping. The Celestial Staff stands on a platform in the middle of a lake, illuminated by a ray of light. As Luz approached the edge of the lake, the water began to emit a glowing light, followed a few seconds later by a stone walkway rumbling into place, connecting the edge of the lake and the central platform.

"I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said." She said as she skipped and twirled down the walkway. "There is wonder here. And I... I think I came here for a reason." She said as she walked closer to the staff. She paused and stared at the staff in wonder. "Okay, this is it. Moment of truth." She said as she grabbed it. Blue swirls of magic come out of it, creating waves in the lake as the top of the staff shined brightly. She pulls it out of the ground and holds it above her head triumphantly. "Yes! I am the Chosen One! I knew it! I always suspected there was a reason nobody understood my wacky antics back at home." She said as she jumped around in excitement, her dream finally coming true. "Now I have concrete proof." She said as she grabbed it with both hands.

Suddenly, the staff disintegrated into dust and was blown away by the wind. Luz watched in horror as she tried to grab the remains of the staff. "No!" She yelled. The environment around her began to disappear: flowers at her feet wilt, the water drained from the lake and retreated up the riverbanks, the trees began to lose their leaves and the sky became a dark gray as the area decayed around her. "W-what?" Luz said as she looked on in worry, confused at what was happening.

Meanwhile, the Owl House group were flying through the woods on the staff getting closer to Luz. Eda had a stern look on her face, Hunter had a frightened, but angered expression on his face, and King held on tight, worried about the danger ahead.

"I know this guy. He's no wizard. He's what you'd call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in scamming and manipulating people. He's trying to use Luz to get to me." Eda explained the situation to the other two.

"And you're just telling us this NOW!" Hunter yelled. "You couldn't say this back at the house before she decided to do this 'quest'?!"

"Hey, when all you tell me is 'a weird wizard' when asking me about someone I know, It doesn't narrow it down to someone like Adegast!" Eda retorted.

"And we're flying directly into this weird wizard's trap. Hurray." King said sarcastically as he held on.

"Well, if you can think of a better plan, I'd love to hear it!" Eda said as she looked ahead. "Hey, faster, you!" Eda said as she slapped her staff, causing it to increase its speed as Owlbert hooted.

"I hope you're alright, manita." Hunter thought. "I'll be there soon."

Back at the Celestial Lake, Luz looked around as the area was now covered in a thick fog. Luz held her sword in front of her as she whimpered, worried about any danger nearby. She then noticed a figure coming from within the fog. She readied herself as it drew closer. The figure stepped out of the fog and, to her surprise, revealed itself to be Adegast.

"Adegast?" She said.

"Luz, the human." He said as she stared at him in confusion. "Your hubris has failed you, Witch Apprentice." He said as his eyes popped out of his sockets, he began to laugh maniacally as a tentacle was revealed to be attached to the back of his head. He flew in the air as the fog began to disperse, with the tentacle belonging to a large pale colored ocotopus-like demon with a head resembling a ventriloquist dummy. He had four eyes, two round and above his cheeks and the other two were narrow and in the center of his forehead, all of them were dark with amber pupils. He had long skinny arms beneath his chin along with a cluster of gold spheres. It continued to laugh as the ground around them cracked and shook. More tentacles rose from the ground, revealing to be the traveling companions and cats from the village, with a tentacle in each of them connected to the backs of their heads. They were lifted in the air and surrounded Luz, who looked around in horror.

"Okay, Luz. Don't panic. This is classic Chosen One biz. You just have to rescue everybody and defeat the final boss." She said, trying to reassure herself.

"I am everybody! You fool, don't you see?" The creature said, revealing to be the true identity of Adegast. "I'm no wizard. And you're no Chosen One. I've tricked you." He said as he began to laugh.

Luz's eyes widened in shock, "What?!" As she looked at Adegast, her cape tightened around her body. It turned into blue magic chains, forcing her to her knees. The bracelets become handcuffs of a similar color, along with the ring turning into chains that lock her hands together, secured with a padlock. "No! Betrayed by my own cool accessories." She said before turning to the octopus creature. "Why are you doing this?" She angrily asked.

Adegast got closer to Luz, with his puppets surrounding her. "Your mentor has been stealing customers from my potions business for years. She must be destroyed." He explained.

"Does everybody have a beef with Eda here?" Luz asked, with Adegast and his puppets muttering and nodding in agreement.

"And you lured her right into my trap, all because you wanted to think you were special." He said.

"No. Joke's on you, 'cause Eda isn't stupid enough to fall for your trap." Luz fired back.

"Adegast!" Eda yelled out as the Owl House group arrived, unknowingly proving Luz wrong.

"Oh hell." She said as Eda, Hunter, and King landed at the beginning of the stone walkway.

Adegast turned around. "Eda, I have you now!" He said.

"Jeez, is that his real form?!" Hunter said as he got a good look at the real Adegast. Suddenly, three cat puppets erupt from the ground, each one grabbing Eda, Hunter, and King before holding them up in the air. Adegast laughed as the three struggled to free themselves.

"That's right. You have me. Now release Luz." Eda demanded.

"Let go of my sister, you ugly cabrón!" Hunter yelled at him.

"I didn't have to be a part of this!" King cried out.

Adegast chuckled. "Oh, she can leave. If she wants to." He said as he turned to look at her. "But I sense she wants a real fantasy." He said as the puppets released a blue mist around her. She closed her eyes and when she opened them, she was in a dark void, her restraints gone. The companions appeared around her, looking normal like they were before.

"Stay with us, Luz. Stay with Adegast. We need you here. You could be our Chosen One." Nevareth spoke.

"Yeah, you can eat our tiny foods forever." The fairy princess chimed in.

"Luz, why would you want to live in a world where people laugh at you?" Nevareth tried to convince her.

Luz looked at them with a small smile. "It is beautiful here." She said.

"Luz, no!" Eda yelled as she watched her in the mist, hearing the conversation.

"And you guys think I'm special." She continued as the companions came closer, taking on their puppet appearance.

"Fight it, hermana!" Hunter yelled out as he struggled to free himself.

"But it's not real!" Luz declared as she burst out of the mist and ran and picked up her sword. "I am a Witch's Apprentice. And I'm gonna earn my magic staff the hard way." She declared. "I believed you, Magic Man. Now feel my wrath!" She said as she ran and stabbed the wizard puppet through the stomach, making it disappear with a poof. Adegast screams. Eda, Hunter, and King free themselves, landing next to Luz with grunts. Luz swings her sword at the princess, striking and making her poof away. Three cat puppets approach Eda. She draws a spell circle, sending a plume of orange fire at them. They screamed in pain as the fire burnt them away. Adegast began to panic, his plan on turning Luz into a puppet falling apart in front of him.

Hunter quickly climbed on top of Adegast's head and began to punch him. "This is for trying to brainwash my sister, you freaky octopus!" He yelled out as he continued his attacks. Adegast used several of his tentacles to try and hit him, but Hunter dodged them. He then got close to Adegast's right cheek eye and delivered a strong punch to it. The octopus creature screamed out in pain as he put a tentacle over the injured eye.

"You little brat, I'll make sure you and your sister pay dearly for foiling my plan!" He yelled out as Hunter got off in front of him. He tried to use his skinny arms to attack him, but the teen stood out of reach. Hunter then ran up and kicked his cluster of gold spheres hard, causing Adegast to screech in pain. "Aargh, my balls!" He yelled out as Hunter ran back to Luz and Eda.

Nevareth tries to blindside Luz, but his yell alerts her. She catches his sword with her own and duels him. "I thought we had a connection, Nevareth!" She yelled before stabbing him through the chest.

Nevareth grunted in pain. "Ah, my flawless pecs!" He yelled before poofing into a cloud of dust. Luz and Hunter regrouped with Eda, the elderly witch smiling at them before turning her attention towards Adegast.

"Back off" He said while moving away from them. "Or the dog gets it!" He threatened as he held King in his tentacle.

"I am not a-" King said before the tentacle covered his mouth. The group stood down, dropping their weapons and raising their hands.

"King, I'm sorry. I should have listened to you and never trusted that wizard. You were right." Luz said to King. "He isn't mystical or magical. He's just a big, slimy jerk!" She said as she quickly ran and kicked the sword, sending it directly to Adegast's head, stabbing him. He screams and drops King, who is caught by Luz. The scream changes pitch as Adegast shrinks to the size of a human hand, where the sword pops out of his head. Eda, Hunter, and Luz walk up to him.

Hunter smirked as he looked down at the small octopus. "You know, I'm kinda hungry right now. Anyone up for some seafood?" He joked as Adegast shook in fear.

"You read my mind kid." Eda said as she picked up Adegast by his tentacles, who was still shaking. "This is the last time I'd take an outside referral." She said as she opened her mouth and ate him. Luz and Hunter looked at her in disgust. "Mmm. Oh, did you kids want some of that?" She said.

"You know I was joking, right?" Hunter clarified.

"I'm just confused right now." Luz said in a sad tone.

"Thinking of calling it quits?" Eda asked her.

"This place is nothing like I imagined." Luz said. Hunter and Eda looked at her worried. However, an idea popped into Eda's head as she smiled.

"Hmm. Maybe not here. But come with me. I got something to show you two." She said as she readied her staff.

Later that evening, the group hovered high in the sky, with Luz and Hunter wearing blindfolds. "Okay, you kids can look now." Eda said as the two teens took off their blindfolds and were wowed at the sight they saw. They saw the whole area of the Boiling Isles, which consisted of a decomposing body of a giant, laying on its back in the sea with its arms spread out. Its skull was illuminated by the setting sun, which shone brightly against the dark night sky. Eda began to speak. "The bones of the Isles. Up close, the Isles can be slimy-"

"And very stinky." King cut in.

"And gross. But if you look at it from a different perspective…" Eda continued. They looked at the horned skull, where the stars began to appear along with a shooting star passing through.

"It's beautiful." Luz said as she stared at the scene in awe.

"Yeah it is." Hunter said, mesmerized as he looked over Bonesborough and all the other structures inhabiting the giant's skeleton.

"Eda, how did you know that wizard was lying?" Luz asked as she looked at her.

"Look, kid, everyone wants to believe they're "chosen". But if we all waited around for a prophecy to make us special, we'd die waiting." She chuckled. "And that's why you need to choose yourself." She finished explaining.

"Does that mean you'll give me a magic staff of my own?" Luz asked with high hopes.

"Not yet." Eda said, causing Luz's expression to fall a little. "But... someday." The elderly witch said as Luz looked at her with a new found hope.

"Just as long as you don't do anything dangerous, manita." Hunter said as he ruffled his sister's hair.

"Hunter, you know both of us can't do that in a world like this." Luz responded as she took his hand off her head.

"Then at least promise me you'll try to stay safe." He said.

"Lo prometo" Luz said. The group continued to watch the sunset over the Isles. Once it became night, the group returned to the Owl House to get some sleep.
