"Hopefully this doesn't become a common occurrence in the future, but you never know."
(3 months later)
...Yeah, it's been a while. Anyways, on to the story. I'll explain on the end notes.
It was early morning at the Owl House. Luz was in the kitchen preparing snacks for herself, Hunter, and Eda. It had been two days since the Owl Beast incident and now she was excited for today, since it was the day that Eda promised to teach her and her brother magic. Originally she wanted the lesson to be yesterday, but Eda argued that she needed a day off to relax from transforming into the Owl Beast. The elder witch would spend the previous night in Bonesborough, socializing with the locals in the taverns. She would return in the late hours of the night, with Luz waking up to weird sounds coming from Eda's room, but would shortly fall back asleep.
Hunter walked into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes as he yawned. He looked and saw his sister finishing preparing their snacks.
"Morning Hunter." Luz greeted him.
"You're up early, I thought you weren't a morning person?" Hunter said.
"Well you know, as you grow older, you tend to discover more about yourself." Luz said. "Like being able to wake up early to learn magic, finding a new method to learn magic, and preparing food to eat when we get hungry from learning magic." She continued with excitement in her voice. "Did I mention that we're going to learn magic today?"
"That explains your happy mood." Hunter said.
"I'm sorry, but I just waited so long for this moment to come." She cheered. "I'll finally be able to be a witch like Azura." She giggled.
"Well, we have to wait on Eda to get ready. That might take a bit longer." He said.
"By the way, did you hear those strange noises from last night?" She asked her brother. "Eda must have had a bad dream considering the noises she made."
Hunter's eyes went slightly wide. "I have no idea what you're talking about? You must have dreamt it." He said, acting oblivious.
"No, I'm pretty sure I was awake-" Luz said before her brother interrupted her.
"It was a dream, moving on." Hunter said sternly, wanting to change the subject. Eda would walk in, looking tired, as if she barely had any sleep.
"Morning you two." She yawned. "Why are you guys up so early?" She asked.
"Do you know what today is, Eda?" Luz asked joyfully.
"...Laundry day?" The elder witch said.
"No~, guess again." Luz said. Eda thought about it before she remembered.
"Oh, today is our first magic lesson." She said as she prepared herself a cup of apple blood and began to drink.
"I know, I'm excited too." Luz said as she bounced in place. "What are you gonna teach me? How to do a fire spell? Mix potions? Oh, maybe giving me my own staff?" She squealed.
"Calm down kid. I get your eagerness to learn, but you need to slow down." Eda said. "Today we'll start out with some basics, help ease you two into it before we do anything advanced." She said as she continued to drink. Luz was about to complain, but the elder witch held her finger to her lips.
"Eda does have a point." Hunter said. "If we're going to learn something new, then it's best we take it slow rather than rushing into it."
"Exactly Hunter." Eda said as she finished her apple blood and set down her cup on the table. "While magic can be amazing, it can also be dangerous, especially if someone doesn't know what they're doing."
"Well we won't be in any danger because you'll keep us safe, right Eda?" Luz said.
"Define 'safe' Luz." She said, which caused the two teens to be worried at her answer.
Their talk was interrupted as a male witch tripped and fell to the floor in front of the group. He had fair skin, short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a navy long sleeve tunic with a dark gray cowl, light gray pants and black boots. The three looked at him as he got himself up from the floor.
"Oh sorry, didn't mean to disturb your group talk." He said.
"I thought I told you to sneak out through the window, idiot." Eda said, slightly annoyed that her guest from last night didn't follow her instructions.
"I-I woke up a little dizzy and I didn't want to hurt myself." He said in defense, causing Eda to glare at him. "Don't worry, I'll take my leave." He said as Eda walked over to him.
"Eda, who is he?" Luz asked but received no response.
"Luz, let's finish up preparing our things for today." Hunter said, trying to distract her.
"Alright, I had a good time yesterday with you but I'm gonna be busy today. Go on your way and I'll call you if I want company, sound good?" Eda said as she hurried him to the front door.
"Yes mommy." The male witch responded. He suddenly blushed in embarrassment at what he called her. Eda's face turned red in embarrassment too, especially because he said it in front of the two teens. "I-I-I-I-I m-mean-" He stuttered before Eda interrupted him.
"Okay, time for you to go." She said as she pushed him out the house. "Hooty, do your thing!" She said.
"Hoot. Hope you have a safe landing." Hooty said as he grabbed the male witch by his tunic collar and flung him away towards the woods.
"Hey. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttt!" He yelled as he flew in the air before landing with a thud. "I'm okay!" He yelled out from a distance. Eda closed the door before turning back to the two siblings, her face still red.
"Eda, what did he mean by that?" Luz asked.
"Kid, go upstairs and get your things. We're going to train now." She said sternly, causing the teen to gasp in joy as she raced upstairs. Hunter stood by the elder witch.
"...Had fun last night?" He asked, Eda huffed in response as she crossed her arms and looked away. "...Can you try to keep it down next time?" He said as Eda grimaced. The two stood in silence before Hunter spoke again. "...So ...Do they like it when you act like a dommy mommy?" He snickered. Having enough, Eda drew a spell circle with her finger, causing Hunter to fly up and hit the ceiling before slamming back down to the floor on his stomach. He groaned as Eda looked at him sternly.
"Consider that a warning. Now grab your things and meet me outside." She said as she walked away.
A while later, Hunter, Luz, and Eda were flying together on the staff over the town of Bonesborough. The elder witch was taking the two teens to a secluded location where they could train in private. Luz could hardly believe it, she was finally going to learn magic from her mentor. She could barely contain her excitement; her giggling smile told that.
"I can't believe it's finally happening. I'm finally going to be a witch like Azura." She said joyfully. "How long til we get there." She asked.
"It's going to be a while, so get comfy." Eda said. The group continued to fly in silence. Wanting to kill the boredom, Luz began to hum.
"I'll dance, dance, dance
With my hands, hands, hands
Above my head, head, head
Like Jesus said
I'm gonna dance, dance, dance
With my hands, hands, hands above my head
Hands together, forgive him before he's dead, because-" She sang.
"Luz, stop singing." Eda said, who was becoming annoyed at what she was hearing.
"Sorry Eda." She responded. She kept silent for a bit before humming again.
"It took too long, it took too long, it took too long for you to call back
And normally I would just forget that
Except for the fact it was my birthday
My stupid birthday" She sang.
"Luz. Stop." Eda warned her again. The girl stopped for a couple of moments before continuing again.
"A ella le gusta la gasolina~
Dame más gasolina~
Cómo le encanta la gasolina~
Dame más gasolina~
A ella le gusta la gasolina~
Dame más gasolina~
Cómo le encanta la gasolina~
Dame más gasolin-"
"Kid! I can't understand a word of what you're singing, but it's driving me up the wall and giving me a sudden urge to throw you over one!" Eda interrupted as she turned to look at Luz. "So for the last time. Stop it or we're going back home!" She warned as she turned to look ahead.
"Okay, someone's not a fan of the Big Boss." Luz said meekly.
"How much longer?" Hunter asked, hoping that they were close so that he wouldn't have to hear the two bickering at each other.
"We're here." Eda said as the group flew down towards the middle of a forest that was on the outskirts of Bonesborough. They landed in a small grassy clearing next to a pond surrounded by trees and had a variety of flowers around the area. The teens hopped off the staff and set down their stuff while Eda inspected the area.
"This looks like a good place. The scenery here is lovely and peaceful, you can see the beauty of nature undisturbed." She said as she looked around in wonder. "You kids ready to disturb the peace?" She turned to look at the teens with excitement.
"Am I ever?" Luz said joyfully as she got out a stack of paper cards, a pencil, and her phone. "I am ready to disturb the peace to the max!" She yelled, throwing her fists in the air.
"Okay let's calm down before we burn this place to the ground." Hunter said as he got out his own paper card stack and pencil. "So what spells are you going to teach us Eda?" He asked as Luz squealed in delight. The elderly witch walked in front of the two and summoned her staff.
"Alright, let's get started. Since both of you figured out the light spell, or glyph in this case, it's time to learn another one." She said as she twirled her staff around and hit the bottom of it to the ground.
"Oooooohhh." Luz said.
"But before we continue, you two must learn to be one with nature." Eda said as she presented the area around them, which confused the siblings.
"Huh?" Luz said.
"Connect with the environment around you. The earliest witches would harness the magical elements around them and use it to help power their spells." She explained before continuing. "Like I said to you two before, the best witches are the ones that are resourceful and use the things around them. So for today, you two are going to explore and connect with the elements around you." She said. Hunter was confused and Luz was disappointed, both were expecting to be taught magic, not to be on an exploration trip.
"Eda, I thought you were going to teach us magic." Luz said.
"I am, it's just that it's better for you two to develop a connection to the nature of magic before starting. Could help you perform better spells than the average witch in the Isles." Eda explained, causing the two teens to look at her doubtfully. Eda sighed. "Okay how about this, whatever glyphs you find here, I'll teach it to you two. How does that sound?" She said. This caused Luz to grunt before she went to get her paper cards and pencil and left to wander around in the area.
"Luz wait for me." Hunter said as he grabbed his things and went to catch up with his sister. Eda smiled before walking over to a tree and laying beside in the shade.
"Aaaahh. Finally some peace and quiet. Better enjoy it as much as I can before they come back or get themselves in trouble." She said as she put her hands behind her head and relaxed.
Luz was walking down a dirt path, looking at the trees around her. The day wasn't going in the way she hoped for. First Eda promised them to train them and teach them new spells, but decided to relax instead. Hunter caught up with her, concerned about his sister's mood.
"Everything okay manita?" He asked.
"Yup." Luz said as she turned to look at her brother with a forced smile. "Everything is just peachy." She said with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"You're upset, aren't you?" He asked, which caused Luz to drop her smile and sigh.
"Yeah. I don't get her Hunter. She promised us that she will, but said to "connect with the nature of magic", whatever that means." She said. "I think she wanted an excuse to relax today."
"I mean it certainly looks like it." Hunter said.
"Man, if only we didn't get banned from Hexside, we would be learning all kinds of magic instead of wandering here." Luz said.
"We aren't witches Luz." He reminded her. "Well, you're not a witch, I just don't have a magic bile sac. So going to Hexside would be a waste of time." He explained. Luz sighed as she knew her brother made a good point.
"Well that's not going to stop me." She said. "I mean, we found a new way to cast magic without being a witch and using a bile sac." She said as she looked around her, thinking back at Eda's words from earlier.
'Connect with the nature of magic' Luz pondered in thought. 'Connect with nature.' She continued as she looked at a flower. Suddenly, an idea formed in her head. "That's it." She said as she ran near the flower and laid on her back. She put her arms and legs to the air together before spreading them open. "Photosynthesis." She said before closing and opening them again. "Photosynthesis." She said again as she repeated the action sequence. "Photosynthesis."
Hunter looked on in confusion as she watched her sister, he was beginning to believe that she had completely lost it. "What are you doing?" He asked her.
"I'm connecting to nature." She answered as she continued. "Photosynthesis."
"That's not what Eda meant when she said that Luz." He said as he walked over to her.
"Then how am I supposed to do it?" She asked as she stopped and sat upright.
"Not in the way of what you were doing." He said. "You can't relate to nature just by acting like a plant."
Luz sighed, he had a good point. "I guess you're right on that." She said as she looked back at the flower. "Still that flower looks pretty, I'm going to take a picture of it for my phone background." She said as she walked over to it and pulled out her phone. She opened the camera app and was positioning the flower within the frame when she noticed something. "What the?" She said as she zoomed in on the flower's carpel. She saw a faint glyph outline on it. "Hunter, come look at this."
"What is it?" He asked as he knelt down beside Luz and looked at her phone screen. "Is that a glyph?" He asked in a survey tone. Luz took a picture of it before pulling out a paper card and pencil. She placed it on top of her phone and traced the glyph on it. A green light glowed as another flower sprouted from it, along with Luz's new found hope.
"Oh my God, I found a new spell!" She cheered. "I've learned plant magic. I got to show Eda this." She said as she got her things and ran back, with her brother following her. The two teens arrived at the clearing where they saw Eda taking a nap under the tree. Luz ran up to her to show her the new spell she found.
"Hey Eda." She said, startling the elderly witch as she woke up.
"Huh, what? What's happening?" She said as she looked around before seeing Luz. "Oh it's just you Luz. What is it?" She asked.
"Guess what I found." She said. Before Eda could answer, Luz pulled out a paper card and drew the plant glyph on it. She pressed her hand on it and caused a pink flower to appear from it. Eda watched in slight awe, the human girl discovered another spell. "I know, amazing isn't it?" Luz said, taking note of Eda's reaction.
"Well it's a bit of a surprise, a pleasant one as well." She said as she stood up. "So I'm guessing you found a connection to wild magic then." She said.
"Well, I just noticed the glyph on a flower and that's how I discovered it." Luz explained.
Eda looked at her, then at Hunter, who confirmed Luz's story by giving a nod. She sighed. "I mean you did learn a new spell, so that's something. But I did promise to teach you any spells that you find and since I'm a lady of my word, I'll do just that." She said as she summoned her staff. Luz happily gasped as she took out her paper cards and pencil. The group walked out to the center of the clearing, with Eda standing in front of the two teens, who sat on the ground.
"Alright, so both of you know that we witches are able to perform magic thanks to our bile sacs." She said as she drew out several spell circles, summoning balls of light, water, and fire. The three orbs disappeared shortly afterward. "However, that was not always the case. The witches of old used glyphs in order to perform any magic. But after we developed our sacs, the use of glyphs slowly disappeared and were eventually forgotten until you two rediscovered them." She said.
"Did no one bother to record the glyph method?" Hunter asked.
"We do use glyphs, but the way we do it is by enchanting a piece of paper with a spell. We didn't preserve the method that you guys are using." Eda answered, which only caused him to give her a confused look. How could the residents of the Boiling Isles not record the old glyph method? "Kid, I'm just as confused as you are when it comes to this topic, but when a witch discovers an easier method to produce magic, the old one pretty much gets forgotten." She explained.
"I still think it's a bit careless." Hunter muttered.
"Well it doesn't matter now, cause now we know how to do it." Luz said. "Hey Eda, what's exactly the difference between normal and wild magic?" She asked.
(Bruce Faulconer - Home Sweet Home: watch?v=0voBJTXBV3M)
"Well first off, there is no such thing as wild magic. It's all the same because it comes from one source, the Titan. From the simplest to the most complex spells, everything is connected to each other. " Eda explained. "Look at the area around you." She said as she presented the scene, causing the teens to look around. "The things here help make this place what it is. The sun helps the plants and trees grow, which provide life to this forest." She explained as the siblings observed the area closer with a new found curiosity. "Even the magical elements we don't see play a part. Like the cooling crystals in this lake that help keep the water from boiling like the sea." Eda said as she gestured to the teens to join her in walking closer to the lake. The trio looked on and saw several large crystal formations at the center bottom, with a few tiny shards washing up on the shoreline. The teens touched the water slightly and found out it actually was cool, like the water back on Earth. "That's what magic is all about." She finished.
(End on 0:42)
"Ooooooooohhh." Luz said in awe while Hunter continued to observe the large crystals.
"So anyways, let's continue." Eda said as she gestured the two to follow her back to the clearing. Once they were, Eda drew a green spell circle and summoned a large flower. "Plant magic is pretty much self explanatory, you can control or summon all types of plants, big or small." She said as she drew two more spell circles, summoning a small bush and three large roots, the same ones that Willow summoned when the teens first met her. "So now it's your guy's turn, let me see what you can do." She said to them.
The two siblings got out their paper cards and drew the plant glyphs on them. They pressed their hands on the glyphs to activate them. For Luz, a small sunflower appeared. For Hunter, three lily flowers sprouted. The two teens looked at their plants and then at each other.
"Wait, how come my glyph created a different flower than Hunter's?" Luz asked Eda.
"Well it's because you were thinking of a different flower than his." The elderly witch said before continuing. "How it works is like this: You think of the type of plant you want to summon, then you perform the spell, and that same plant would appear." She explained.
"So basically, you think of what you want to summon before performing the spell." Hunter said.
"Right. That line of thought applies to all types of magic, not just for plants. So take some time practicing one or two more plant spells and see what you can do." Eda said. The two teens went back to drawing the glyphs on their cards. Luz had managed to summon a small bush with roses and a group of sunflowers while Hunter summoned the grass around him to grow up to his knees.
"Can you teach us a different spell Eda?" Luz asked, causing the elderly witch to chuckle.
"Might as well since we're here." She said. "Anyone here thirsty?" She asked as she drew a spell circle, summoning a small orb of water from the lake and bringing it to the siblings. "Cause I brought water." She said.
"Wow. Water magic." Luz said excitedly.
"Now, water is one of the most flexible forms of magic, one could say it's fluid." Eda said, chuckling at her pun. "Water represents adaptability, change, and transformation. It can take any form it finds itself in, such as this pond or a drinking cup." She continued as she passed the water orb between her hands. "You can use it however you want, whether in a passive or aggressive action." She explained as she let the water orb fall to the ground and soak the dirt. Shortly afterward, she drew another spell circle aiming at a tree branch. She finished completing it and a fast spray of water shot out and hit the branch, knocking it off the tree and wowing the teens. Eda then summoned another orb and presented it to them. "Now, connect with the water and see what you can discover.
Luz and Hunter leaned in to take a closer look at it. They saw the water flowing inside its form. Hunter squinted his eyes as he thought he saw something inside, but couldn't find anything.
"Remember to relax you two." Eda said. The two teens eased up but still leaned in closer. It was at that point Hunter saw a symbol flowing through the water.
"I see something." He said as he continued to watch the orb.
"Really, what is it?" Luz asked.
"Hold on, let me watch a little longer." He said as his eyes flowed the flow of the water. He caught a clear glimpse at the symbol and discovered that it was another glyph. He gasped as he pulled out a card and quickly drew the glyph on it. He activated it and an orb of water appeared and floated above his hand. "Wow." He said as he stared at his own orb in wonder.
(Water Glyph: See link in profile)
"Cool, what was the glyph?" Luz asked as she stared at the orb. Hunter dropped the orb to the ground and redrew the water glyph on another card for his sister to see. Once he finished, he passed it to her. Luz drew it on her own paper card and activated it, summoning her own water orb. She smiled with glee as she played with it, tossing the orb between her hands. "Ha ha, this is amazing." She said as she finished playing with it and letting it fall to the ground. "Now I know three magic spells: Light, Plant, and Water." She said.
"Good to see you kids progress." Eda said as she directed her water orb back to the pond. Luz then drew various glyphs on several cards before collecting them all in her hand.
"Time to put my training to the test." She said with confidence. She ran around the area, summoning light balls, small water puddles, and various plants and vines. She giggled in excitement as she was finally living out her dream of being a witch. She continued her antics, causing Hunter to grow concerned.
"Hey manita, you might wanna slow down there." He said worryingly, however, this didn't deter Luz as she summoned more spells. Soon the area was covered in light balls, wild flowers, roots, vines, and water puddles. What she didn't notice was that after each spell, she grew more tired. It ultimately resulted in Luz stopping her spell frenzy as she took a knee to catch her breath. Hunter quickly ran by her side to check on her. "Are you alright sis?" He asked with concern.
"Yeah… Just need… to breathe." She said in exhaustion. Eda walked towards the teens as she watched Luz.
"First off, wow. You really went crazy with those spells. Second, relax. How are you feeling?" The elderly witch said.
"Like I just ran a marathon… which is weird since I was… only jogging while summoning my spells." Luz said, still taking deep breaths. "Why am I… so tired?" She asked.
"Remember how the magic bile sac is connected to a witch's heart? There's a reason for that. Magic uses energy from the user's heart, called mana, in order to be cast, and how much of it depends on how powerful you want the spell to be or how many you cast in a short time." Eda explained to the two teens.
"It's like doing a workout. Your body uses its energy and gets tired when exercising." Hunter said.
"Exactly. Everyone has their limit and if you try to go beyond that, you'll become tired or even hurt yourself." She warned them. "I think now is the perfect time to take a break. You kids take some time to eat your snacks and recover. I'm going to do a bit of bug collecting." She said as she pulled out a glass jar from her hair before walking into the woods. "See you kids in a bit."
Luz and Hunter watched her before going to their bags and getting out their food, which were two peanut butter sandwiches, an apple and banana, and two water bottles. The teens sat in the shade of a tree as they ate.
"So, how are you liking it so far?" Hunter asked his sister as he took a sip from his water bottle.
"Honestly, this is the happiest I've been throughout my life." Luz responded happily. "I'm finally learning magic like I always wanted too. I can't wait to go back and show mom, she's gonna be so surprised." She said. Hunter almost choked on his water.
"Oh crap, we forgot about the thing with summer camp. Mom thinks we're over there learning about… whatever they teach, instead of here." He said in a slightly panicked tone. "She's gonna freak once she finds out the truth."
"No te preocupes hermano, we'll figure that out once we go back home." Luz said. "Besides, you didn't want to go to camp either." She said as she took a bite of her sandwich.
"That's because I didn't want to leave you here alone. You tend to find ways to get in trouble." He said.
"I do not…" She said, Hunter gave her a skeptical look. "Well, most of the time." She said, only for him to raise an eyebrow. "Okay okay, I might get into trouble sometimes." Luz said meekly.
"Might?" Hunter said which caused Luz to give him an annoyed look.
"Let's just finish eating before Eda comes back." She said as the teens continued to eat their food. They finished just as Eda came back from the woods.
"I'm back, kids." Eda said as she walked out of the woods, her clothes and hair a bit tattered and dirty. The teens stood up and were confused at the state the witch was in.
"Where did you go?" Hunter asked.
"And what happened to you?" Luz asked.
"Well for starters, I walked around the area to see if I could find a certain kind of bug. I did, and I caught a couple." She explained before pulling out the jar from before, now having several flying bugs that had a glowing aura around them. "These are Volt Beetles. They produce an electric field around themselves for protection, but they can be used as a power source." She said before putting the jar down and brushing off the dirt from her hair. Luz and Hunter got a closer look at the jar in order to observe the bugs. "I heard that your rectangle devices, or phones as you call them, were low on power and I figured I would get some Volt Beetles so that you two can recharge them. Don't know how you're going to do it, but you guys will find a way." She said as she set the jar down in front of the two teens. The two looked closer at the beetles. Their bodies were slim, with their heads and abdomen colored bright yellow. Their fuzzy thorax, long antenna, legs, and elytra were black and their eyes were a light blue color. The teens watched as the beetles flew around and produced a small amount of electricity from their bodies.
"Cool, I wanna touch them." Luz said as she reached out to open the jar. However, Eda grabbed it before the girl could touch the lid.
"Careful, they might be passive but they aren't afraid to defend themselves. As you can tell from the way that I look." She said.
"Wow, this is really nice of you Eda." Hunter said.
"Consider this a thanks for helping me with my owl beast form." She said as she placed the jar down by the tree. "Now let's continue shall we?"
For the next couple of hours, Eda would watch as the two teens continued to practice their glyph magic. She noticed their behavior, Luz was energetic and impulsive as she summoned the three magic types at random while Hunter was more reserved and planned out as he used what little magic he summoned to affect the area around him.
'Hm, Luz is more gung ho when it comes to magic but that might be more of a weakness than strength if she doesn't learn how to control herself. On the other hand, Hunter has a more cautious approach, like he's scared or something. Though he has more control than his sister.' The elderly witch made a mental note to herself. 'But I'm not worried. If those two managed to find a way to perform magic, then anything is possible. Oh look at me, being happy about someone else's future.' Eda chuckled. She looked at the sunset by the horizon and decided that it was time to call it a day.
"Alright, I think it's time for us to go back home. Luz, Hunter, grab your things and get on board." Eda said as she collected the beetle jar and mounted her staff. The two teens stopped their practice and quickly got their bags before joining Eda to go back to the Owl House. Once everyone was on board, Eda flew the staff up in the air before leveling it out and directing it back home.
"I'll never get used to this." Hunter said as she tightly gripped the staff out of fear of him falling off.
"I can." Luz said. "Wouldn't mind flying around in a staff. Speaking of which, can I have my own magic staff now, Eda?" She asked with a glimmer in her eyes.
"No." Eda said bluntly, causing Luz to sigh. "But you keep practicing, then you'll get one eventually Luz." She said which renewed the teen girl's hopes up. She began to hum a tune before the elderly which shot her a glare. "No more singing or else you won't get your staff." She said sternly. Luz quickly sealed her lips and made a zipping gesture over her mouth. Hunter chuckled before yawning.
"Man who knew that magic could be so tiring." He said.
Later at the house, The Noceda siblings were getting ready for bed. They connect their phones to their charging cables, which were inserted through small slits on the lid. The two laid down on their sleeping bags.
"I can't believe it actually worked." Hunter said as he watched his phone receiving charge from his cable.
"I'm just as surprised as you are. But I guess anything is possible if we put our minds to it" Luz commented as she looked at the jar before yawning. "Anyways, good night Hunter." She said as she closed her eyes.
"Goodnight." He replied back before doing the same thing.

In the center of the Boiling Isles, specifically in the giant's chest cavity, was a large stone castle surrounded by dozens of guard towers and a moat which was filled with many large sharp stalagmites and bone fragments. Inside its hallways, a tall, slim, elderly witch with ivory skin, mint green eyes, long black nails and lipstick, and long straight dark navy hair was walking towards a door near the end. She was wearing a long-sleeved two-tone dark gray dress with a sky blue diamond-shaped gem attached to her chest and dark gray laced boots. She was carrying a folded white robe and raven mask in her arms.

"Getting ready for tomorrow's convention I see?" A female voice said. The woman turned around and saw a red-skinned imp witch demon with three-toed claw hands and feet and a yellow left eye with red iris. The most notable feature was her hair, which were two dark blue hands, one with its fingers that formed a fringe which hid her right eye and the other behind her head to form a hair bun-like fist. She wore a black baggy long sleeve shirt and pants and a long white regalia tunic, with the high collar covering the lower part of her face.
"Good evening Kikimora," The woman said to the red demon. "What brings you here?" She asked.
"The Emperor wanted to know if you and the other coven heads have your things in order." Kikimora replied. "We want to be at our best for the public tomorrow and recruit the next generation of witches to our ranks, especially for what the near future holds." She said.
The elderly woman nodded. "The Emperor can rest assured that everything is set for the convention, there's nothing to worry about." She said.
"Unless a certain Owl Lady shows up unannounced." Kikimora said.
"I highly doubt that." The ivory woman quickly retorted. "She might be a wanted outlaw, but a smart one at that. It's the reason why she has managed to elude capture. But one of these days I'll get her." She said as she turned to walk to her room.
"True, you do know her well. She's your sister after all." Kikimora quipped. The woman turned her head and gave the red demon a glare.
"Goodnight Kikimora." She said with a hint of anger in her voice before walking away.
"Goodnight to you as well, Lilith." Kikimora said as she turned around to leave.

Lilith opened her room and went inside. She closed the door before laying her gear on her bed and walking over to her desk. She sighed, it was true that her sister had been a nuisance not only to her, but to the Emperor's Coven as a whole. No matter how much trouble she got herself in, Eda would always find a way out of it. Lilith picked up a piece of paper from her desk, which was a report about a break out from the Conformatorium over a week ago. She expected her sister and her pet to be involved and she was right, but what surprised her was that the report mentioned two teens, one of which was a human girl, that accompanied her. This caused some concern for Lilith, Eda has done some criminal acts but getting kids involved was not something she would do. Now she has two more people to be worried about.
Lilith sighed before putting down the paper. "Oh Edalyn, why must you complicate things." She said before she looked out her window. "But don't worry, it won't be long until I catch you. And I'll make sure those teens don't turn out like you."

So about the absence. I'm just gonna say that managing both work and college was way more time consuming than I imagined. But now I have more time for myself and that means more time to write. In the time I've been gone, I've been thinking about the plot of the story and I've made a rough draft on how it's going to play out. So expect the next chapter soon.
One major thing I did was that I went back a fixed a few mistakes in the previous chapters along with adding music to the story. Since links can't be posted on the story, I've added a guide on my profile in order for you guys to listen. This is a completely optional thing to do if you want to have a soundtrack while you read.
Also, another thing I did was adding a completely new glyph into the mix. I've decided to play around with the glyph system since I feel that they were under utilized in the original show, especially went it came to the introduction of glyph combos. So I'm going to introduce new ones, by using several alchemy sheets for reference, as the story progresses. I'll have them listed in my profile page for you to see them.
But that's all for today, now it's time for me to work on Convention. Hope to see you guys soon and thanks for the support, leave your thoughts on the reviews.
