"What did you say? She's a child?!"
Shortly after Hahlos completed his mission in getting his target, he went to the meeting room in the castle to report to his comrades. He, Arya, Torian and Stark were the only ones present. However, one of them was less than pleased.
"You're really resting the fate of our entire country on some land dwelling child? Have you gone mad?" Stark objected, his blue eyes twitching.
"It may sound unorthodox, but I witnessed it myself." Hahlos explained with a straight face, his hands folded on the table. "Her power is far greater than I initially thought."
"Okay…but Hahlos…" Torian hesitated. "You sure you're alright man?" He noticed his hair slightly burnt and left eye bloodshot.
"There's no need for concern." Hahlos reassured. "There was some trouble, but I was able to complete my mission safely."
"...Whatever you say, I guess." Torian leaned on his arm.
"So, she's staying in one of the upstairs bedrooms?" Arya double checked. "Who's watching her?"
"I gave Sync the honor of keeping her company." Hahlos smiled. "She'll be staying upstairs so traveling to the master's room won't be long." He then stood up and pushed his chair in. "Now if you excuse me, I should be checking if the Sky Sorceress has awakened." He walked towards the door and opened it.
"I still don't like this, Hahlos…" Stark reminds. Hahlos ignored the slender angel's remark and left the room.
Shortly after closing the door, Hahlos stood for a couple of seconds before nearly collapsing on the floor as he held his chest. "Those humans…nearly outsped my Clairvoyance…" He recalled. "What on earthland are they?"
The large tornado has long been gone as Fairy Tail members were cleaning up the mess and treating the injured. Various wizards felt guilt, anger and regret. Although two in particular were very noticeable with their emotions, that being Carla and Chelia. They sat by the bar and looking down on the ground, completely dejected.
Lucy wiped her forehead before one of her Celestial Spirit, Virgo, bowed and vanished. When the intruder summoned the large tornado surrounding the building, Lucy summoned Virgo to create a large tunnel in the building right outside of the guild. She and the maid spirit just recently sealed the hole back up.
Mirajane was examining the dress they were trying to make. It was completely soaked in alcohol and filled with holes and tears. It was beyond repair as even the flowers lost their petals. The bartender sighed disappointedly before overhearing some aggressive yelling and thrashing.
"C'mon! Let me out! I gotta kick that guy's ass!" Natsu thrashed about. He was tied to a pole in the building.
"Don't you get it you moron?!" Gray chastised. "He flew up to the sky!" He then looked over at Erza, who was standing by Jellal. "Right?" The ice wizard asked her.
Erza nodded. "I was only able to catch a glimpse, but he very clearly flew up to the sky."
"Then have Happy take me there! He's done it before!" Natsu argued, but was met with an intimidating glare from Erza which caused him to shrink in fear.
"Think about it, has Happy ever flown up far enough to see people living there?" Erza argued, in which Happy shook his head. "It's clear that wherever this angel came from, his homeland is much further up than when you and Wendy flew towards the Anima all those years ago." She explained. "I highly doubt teleportation would do any good either..."
"I'm sorry…I-I wasn't able to do anything…" Chelia cried softly. Lucy walked up to the red haired girl and wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulder.
"You don't need to apologize, this wasn't your fault." Lucy comforted.
"So, what's the story with these two?" Macao, who was currently being treated, glanced over towards Jellal and Meredy. The latter met up with the former after the encounter with Hahlos. Several other members looked over curiously at the two.
"We met up with your intruder shortly before he arrived here." Jellal explained. "I wasn't sure at the time, but there was something awfully different about his presence." He held his face in regret. "I should've stopped him earlier, forgive me…"
"Now now…" Meredy patted Jellal's back. "Don't beat yourself up."
Erza sighed before pulling up a chair and sitting down. She closed her eyes in deep thought. "In any case, we need to find a way to locate that angel's home. It may be far up in the sky...but if he was able to not only reach down here, but even go back up, then I'm sure we could."
"Speaking of, what was with that guy anyways?" Gajeel recalled while sitting by and chowing down on some metal. "He was able to predict our every move. Didn't seem like he had super hearing or whatever."
"Predict your every move? That should be obvious wouldn't it?" A elderly voice brought up, said voice was located at the building's entrance. Everyone looked over and saw Makarov, Fairy Tail's guild master, on his wheelchair with his grandson, Laxus, behind him since he was pushing it.
"Oh! Welcome back master!" Mirajane greeted with a smile. "Did the guild master meeting go okay?"
"What do you mean gramps?" Gray wondered. Laxus pushed his grandfather's wheelchair inside as the two looked around the mess.
"Well we have a member of our own who could potentially have magic similar to the one young Gajeel mentioned." Makarov looked over at Carla. "Isn't that right?"
The Exceed widened her eyes "Huh? Are you saying that creep can see in the future?!" Puzzled Carla.
"That could be a possibility…" Erza realized. "I did notice that his eyes flash blue before an attack was thrown at him."
"My eyes don't flash blue when I get visions of the future though." Carla interjected.
"It's hard to comprehend that." Lily doubted as well, who was back in his smaller form and standing on one of the tables. "The only people I know who can see into the future are Carla and Queen Shagotte. And who knows where she is now…"
"It is still a possibility, there are many variations of magic. Much like Dragon Slayer magic afterall." Makarov argued, in which right on cue he noticed something off. "Speaking of...there seems to be one missing. Care to tell me what happened while I was gone?"
It was bright once Wendy's eyes opened. The sky wizard felt groggy waking up. The extreme amount of white in the area didn't exactly help either as she had to rub her eyes for a moment. She felt like she was hit by a speeding magic four wheel vehicle. The blunette slowly sat up and rubbed her head, she seemed to be in an average looking bedroom. The walls were white which is why it was so bright when waking up. There seemed to be a small table with a wooden chair on the right of the room next to a window covered by blinds. She looked to the left and her eyes met with another, they both paused and stared at each other.
"Hi! Looks like you're finally awake!" A young girl greeted Wendy with a bright smile.
"Aaah!" Wendy got spooked as she scooted backwards until she accidentally bumped the back of her head on the bed frame. She held her head in pain. "Ow ow ow…"
"Hehehe. You sure are clumsy!" The girl with yellow hair teased. Wendy groaned before looking back at the other girl, she seemed to be around the same age as her. Although what was most striking was that she had wings and a halo above her head. Seeing the halo instantly reminded her of the man who attacked her which caused the sky slayer to jump up.
"That's right! I was attacked by that guy!" Wendy thought. She didn't know what was going on, was she being kept prisoner? A lot of questions ran through her head.
"Uh, are you just gonna sit there?" The other girl waved her hand in front of Wendy's face which snapped her out of her thoughts.
"S-sorry. Who are you, and where am I?" Wendy asked nervously, she wasn't sure if this girl was trustworthy but as of now she had no other ideas.
"My name's Sync, and you're in God's castle! Nice to meet'ja!" Sync chirped as she reached her hand out for a handshake. Wendy reluctantly shook her hand but couldn't help it but be completely thrown off by her response, God's castle?
"Uh, my name's Wendy Marvell. It's nice to meet you too." She greeted back. The blunette hopped off her bed and took a look around her surroundings. She wasn't sure if Sync was going to let her leave the room so she decided to look out the window. What she saw caused her eyes to widen, they were on a high floor and could see a town in the distance. The area seemed to be surrounded by white fluffy substance, were they clouds? Wendy also saw more people with wings and halos, some of them were even flying! What was this place…?
"Pretty isn't it?" Sync suddenly approached from behind which caused Wendy to jump a little. "This is our home, Exahelm! It's a country in the sky!" She beamed, waving her hands in the air.
Wendy felt her stomach drop after hearing that however. A country in the sky? How is that possible? More importantly, how is she going to get back home?! More thoughts entered her mind but were once again snapped out of them after hearing the door open. Both girls turned their direction towards the door and the tall angel who brought Wendy here entered the room.
"Ah. I see you've finally woken up, Sky Sorceress." Hahlos grinned. He shut the door behind him. Wendy was immediately on guard as she prepared to take him on.
"Hi bro! I watched her like you said!" Sync ran up to Hahlos and hugged his leg. The taller angel smiled back and patted Sync's head, he then noticed Wendy on guard and sighed.
"Don't bother, I can see utter failure in any attempts you make." Hahlos was blunt. "Even if you do manage to defeat me, it would be impossible for you to escape."
Wendy furrowed her brows. "What do you mean?"
"You already saw, did you not? We are far above the clouds. If you'd try to escape you would simply fall to your death." Hahlos answered before pulling up a chair and sitting down, he was still exhausted from his encounter with Natsu and the others. "I apologize for the barbaric way I brought you here...your allies weren't exactly approving of bringing you here."
Wendy then remembered that her friends attempted to fight for her. "My friends! What did you do to them!" She snapped, as magic aura began to surround her body.
"What did I just say? Don't, bother." Hahlos glared. "Relax, you don't need to worry. Your friends are still alive, in fact I'm sure they're all safe."
The blunette glared back, she wasn't sure if Hahlos was telling the truth. However, as the magic aura continued to surround her body, she felt her body ache. For some reason, her body struggled to move as the aching slowly got worse. She stopped channeling her magic and almost collapsed on the ground. Sync covered her mouth with one hand while Hahlos sighed again and looked down at the girl.
"I think you understand now, don't you?" Hahlos hinted at her. Wendy looked up back at him with a muddled expression. "If you use your magic here carelessly, your body wouldn't be able to handle it." He revealed.
Wendy coughed a bit, she still felt her body ache a little after channeling her magic power. "W-what do you mean m-my body can't handle it here?"
"We are several miles above the sky." Hahlos began to explain, leaning back up and crossing his arms. "We are closer to the atmosphere, meaning Ethernano is much denser here. If you use too much magic here, your body will simply destroy itself." He got up from his chair and offered a hand to Wendy. "Average mages who frequently use magic aren't able to survive here for a week, but I can assure you that you won't be here for that long."
Wendy was completely shocked. So even if she tried to fight her way out of here, her body wouldn't be able to completely handle the atmosphere anyways. She noticed how the wings of the two angels hadn't vanished despite Hahlos having to summon his wings when he was down below. She decided to grab the angel's hand as he helped her back up.
"Although, it is possible for someone to adapt to our atmosphere. Us angels lived here for centuries and our bodies can naturally adapt to this kind of dense Ethernano rather quickly. I imagine for humans like you, it would take quite a long time." Hahlos finished explaining.
"...So why did you bring me here…?" Wendy asked hesitantly. If it really is dangerous for humans to live here then there must be a good reason to be brought here. Hahlos bent down on his knees and placed both of his hands on her shoulders. Wendy widened her eyes in shock, seeing the serious angel suddenly have tears in his eyes.
"Sky Sorceress…We are in a crisis, please help us…"
"Mmrrrf…I see then…" Makarov looked down, processing what he was told.
"Do you know anything about the angel who attacked us?" Erza asked.
"I'm afraid not much." Makarov responded. "All I remember was back when Purehito was in charge, he told me stories of angels living amongst us in the sky. But I only wrote them off as mere tales…"
"Well they're definitely real! Did he say how to get to them?!" Natsu approached.
"Oy! How the hell did you get out?!" Gajeel exclaimed. But when he checked where Natsu was tied, he noticed the rope was burnt to a crisp. "Oh."
Makarov sighs. "No, he didn't. I don't think any human would know, I'm sorry…"
"Damn!" Natsu proceeded to punch a wall, creating a large crack.
"Idiot, don't damage the guild more than it already has." Laxus chastised.
The rest of the guild members were quiet, some were trying to think of ways to find their friend while others continued to feel dejected. Chelia covered her face, seeing the Fairy Tail members struggle to figure things out made her slowly lose hope.
"Hm?" Meredy noticed Jellal looking down, holding his chin in deep thought. "Jellal? What's up?"
The blue haired mage sat down, he crossed his arms and looked up. "There are humans aware of these angels." He stated, which immediately got the attention of everyone in the building. "However, this is confidential information that only the higher ups of the Council know. But of course I will make an exception."
"H-huh?!" Wendy stumbled backwards, being caught off guard. "A crisis?! What do you mean by that?"
Hahlos stood up abruptly and wiped the tears off his eyes before clearing his throat. "You see, we are currently in a dangerous predicament. Our master here is in a state of sickness and potentially near death."
"Yeah…" Sync looked down. "He's been sick for weeks now…"
"It is to our understanding that you possess special 'healing powers', is that right?" Hahlos inquired. He sat back down and folded his arms.
The blunette regained her composure. "Y-yeah…But if you just need me to heal someone, why did you have to attack all of us? My guild takes requests all the time. You could've just asked."
Hahlos sighs before leaning back and looking up at the ceiling. "Your guild huh? I believe it was called...Larry Tail, right?"
"...It's *Fairy* Tail." Wendy corrected with an unimpressed look on her face.
"Right." Hahlos clears his throat again and looks back at Wendy. "Exahelm and the land below are considered two separate worlds. We may share the same atmosphere, but it would be meddling to simply engage with your countries. Our master has made it forbidden to interact with you humans, even if your race is in danger of extinction." He explained.
"Then why-"
"However…" Hahlos interrupted Wendy. "Our lord has allowed me to bring one human here due to his sickness." He held up one finger. "Your friends wouldn't approve of you coming here alone due to this being a completely different country. I had no choice but to bring you here by force."
The Sky Sorceress was still cautious. Despite the simple mission and explanations given to her, she still didn't fully trust the circumstances. "If you just need me to heal someone, then that should be fine. But what if I refuse later on?" She wondered.
The two angels in front of Wendy stared at her for a moment before their expressions shifted to a more serious one. "When you understand the circumstances, you won't be able to refuse." Hahlos stated bluntly.
Wendy's eyes widened and her heart stopped. What does he mean by that? She was about to ask, but she heard knocking on the door as everyone in the room turned their attention to it.
"Hahlos? Sync? Are you two still here?" A female voice was heard through the other side. She opened the door and immediately noticed Wendy. "Ah, so you're the human I presume?"
"Hiya Arya!" Sync waved excitedly.
Hahlos stood up and brushed off his legs. "I assume it's about that time?"
The gray haired woman walked over towards the group. "Indeed, they're waiting for you." She then glances over at Wendy and smirks.
The Sky Dragon Slayer continued to have several questions run through her head. But she was once again snapped out of her thoughts as Arya suddenly placed her hand on her shoulder. For some reason, the blunette felt a jolt in her body after the touch.
"Come along now. They're expecting you, young miss." Arya smiled. Hahlos showed Wendy towards the door, she wasn't sure what this was about, but she reluctantly followed them out of the room.
"There was an old report I read about years ago." Jellal continued explaining as he gestured his hand. "It was of a strange incident, at a village that was targeted by the cult of Zeref. No traces of any civilians were found. Only two individuals that appeared to be angels. One of them was supposedly killed in the attack while the other flew far up in the sky when discovered by Rune Knights."
Erza narrowed her eyes downward and curled both her fists tightly, being reminded of the cult of Zeref.
"Tch. So all this time there's been angels living above us? Gimme a break." Gajeel rolled his eyes before going back to eating his metal scrap.
"As far-fetched as it sounds, it's true." Jellal sighed. "I used to show interest in them when I still had the alias of Siegrain, but due to lack of information I gave up quickly on researching them. Not a single Council member could discern a way to realistically discover a country in the sky."
"The one we encountered completely overpowered us." Erza admitted, looking back up. "Not only was he able to predict our attacks, but his speed, magic power, and stamina were absurd."
"There's a possibility of other angels having similar strength." Makarov noted.
"Just *who* was that angel anyways?!" Gray wondered as he leaned by a wall.
"I don't care who he is!" Natsu's hands burst into flames as he clenched them. "That jerk kidnapped Wendy! I'll make him pay!"
"Natsu! Calm down!" Lucy ran up and got a hold on Natsu. "Getting angry won't help things right now!"
"She's correct. Right now, we should find a way to reach their location." Erza agreed.
Jellal then smiled. "Worry not." He stood up. "There is a way."
Less than a second later, everyone's eyes were on Jellal. The blue haired mage admittedly felt a little startled by how quickly the attention turned to him. He cleared his throat before looking at Erza and Natsu. "When you two were facing that angel, did you notice something before he took off?"
"Notice something?" Natsu raised an eyebrow as he tried to recall exactly what happened. Erza began to recall her encounter as well, and the scarlet haired wizard remembered one detail.
"Before he took off…his entire body was glowing yellow…" Erza recalled.
Natsu was perplexed. "Whaa?! I didn't even notice that!"
Jellal gave a cocky smirk. "That sound familiar? He used a Heavenly Body Magic spell. That will be our ticket in." He looked at his hand and clenched it. "And if my hypothesis is correct, I should be able to recreate that spell."
Carla flew towards Jellal and got close to his face as she frantically waved her arms. "Really?! Then we should get going!"
"H-hold on!" Jellal stepped back. "I don't think I'll be able to cast it alone. Since he is an angel, he should possess holy energy. We may need someone with holy magic to assist me in casting our transportation spell."
"Holy magic?" Carla raised an eyebrow.
"Juvia doesn't think anyone here has that kind of magic…" Juvia replied.
Makarov sighed. "'Unfortunately, I no longer have the ability to cast spells..."
"Then is there anyone not from Fairy Tail who could help us?" Levy wondered.
While the members were brainstorming on who could fit that description, Natsu placed his arms behind his head and cackled. As he thought of someone immediately.
"Oh come on guys! It should be obvious." He grinned. "There is someone we know, and he happens to be the master of Sabertooth!"
Wendy was walking through the castle hallways alongside Hahlos, Arya and Sync. She began to notice that no one else was around. Despite the size of the castle, there doesn't appear to be a single soldier in sight. The interior decor of the castle all looked the same, she wondered how they don't seem to get lost in these hallways. Sync walked right over next to Wendy and gave her a friendly smile, in which the blunette smiled back.
The group reached a large pair of doors which looked like they led outside. Hahlos slowly pushed them open. Arya slightly nudged Wendy, leading her to walk on out. The bright light blinded the blunette for a moment while she walked through the doors. Her ears picked up something loud, it sounded like…cheering?
Once Wendy was outside, she noticed that they were on a large balcony. A large crowd of angels were below Wendy as they seemed to be cheering for her. The young girl was stunned at the amount of attention she was receiving. While it was hard to understand everything they were saying, some common phrases were uttered from the crowd.
"There she is!"
"It's Exahelm's hero!"
"She really is a land-walker!"
Wendy was feeling overwhelmed, they appear to be treating her as some kind of hero. Hahlos approached Wendy from behind and spreads his arms out as he made an announcement to the crowd.
"Citizens of Exahelm! Our crisis will be over soon! As the Sky Sorceress has come to save us all!"
The crowd roared in applause while Wendy turned to him and felt her stomach drop. She wasn't sure what kind of situation she was dragged in. But if this was just a simple healing mission…
"How in danger *is* this 'God'?" Wendy thought.
