Stannis Baratheon made his way to Harrenhal when he heard that his wife and daughter had spent the night in it.
He had heard that Lady Whent had either discovered or decided to use the hidden treasure of Harrenhal to buy as many sell swords as possible to revive her nonexistent house.
Why she chose to do this now that she was old and unable to have children was lost to him, and he didn't care to find out.
He had heard the stories of what happened to those who crossed its gates, but he treated those stories like what they were, simple stories told by superstitious people.
The wind blew faster and began to spin around him as if it was being controlled. The horses of his men and even his horse suddenly galloped as fast as they could and ignored their attempts to control them.
It felt as if they were running from something.
The castle was in front of them and they could see the men working on the walls trying to repair them.
All at once the horses stopped moving and refused to go any further as if sensing danger.
The wind blew stronger and before his eyes, something that shouldn't exist landed in front of them.
The creature was covered in blue feathers that were so tightly packed together that one would have thought they were the creature's skin. The beast stared at him with its red eyes but he felt no threat coming from it.
He could feel it judging him, and out of instinct he slowly reached for his sword.
He didn't need to say anything, the men accompanying him were well-trained, and he knew he could trust them with his life.
Neither they nor the beast moved each waiting for the other to show a hint of weakness, and then the sound of girls laughing without care reached them.
The creature lowered its wing and allowed the pair to dismount.
He watched with a heavy heart as his daughter Shireen looked at him with the brightest smile he had ever seen on her. Without a second thought, she ran to his side and waved at the other girl to follow.
He dismounted his horse and embraced, he saw how she looked at him confused as to why he was acting this way, but she still returned his hug.
He looked up and noticed that neither the bright red cloth nor the white breastplate that the girl wore had an emblem, meaning that she was a simple sellsword.
The girl's light brown hair and gold eyes nearly made me unable to think, and he unwillingly tightened his arms around Shireen. Once again his brother's actions had brought consequences that none of them were willing to consider.
The girl was a near exact copy of their mother and despite how small she looked she had all the makings of a Baratheon.
He would have ignored the girl's existence, but the beast next to her made that impossible, and should she ever visit Dragonstone, the Stormlands, or Kings Landing, the consequences would be high.
"You're hurting me.' he hears Shireen say and he immediately lets go of her.
"Come on it's starting." Shireen says to him before grabbing his hand and pulling him toward the girl and her beast.
The loud sound of moans followed by the low but powerful grows were the only warnings he received before he saw the massive creatures that walked out of the castle.
The creatures let out a loud moo as if they were some sort of giant mutated cow's. Behind them were massive sheep who almost looked like giant balls of wool.
Stannis stopped walking and looked at the girl, the creature next to her was even bigger now that he was closer and he was forced to call it what it was.
A dragon, the girl who wore the same face is mother had in one of the few portraits that showed her when she was young had a dragon, and his daughter had ridden on it with her.
He felt Shireen pull him once again but before he could take another step something massive fell from the sky, bit into the dragon, and shook it with such force that the girl next to it was tosed as if she was but an insect.
The dragon cried in pain and its master yelled something that Stannis couldn't understand.
He pulled Shireen to him and carried her back to his men as fast as he could.
For a brief moment, he turned to see if the creature had noticed them and it was then that he saw the massive creature open its mouth intent on finishing the smaller dragon.
The enraged cries of beast could be heard coming from Harrenhal before five great beasts flew from each of the five towers and fell upon the great dragon.
Stannis could not describe what happened next as the creatures fought the great dragon, each of them was massive in its own right, but the great dragon towered over them.
He didn't know when he threw himself on top of Shireen as he tried to protect her with his body from the green flames of the great dragon, he only knew that by the time the fighting ended the entire ground in front of them was burning.
The great dragon was in chains and the five beasts glared at it, their powerful bodies covered in bruises and bleeding from the parts that weren't burned.
He didn't know when he and his men were surrounded by knights or when the girl had run back to her dragon's side, he just knew that they were being escorted to the castle and the girl was hugging the unconscious dragon.
