"Eliza," Oliver was the first to speak. "What are you looking at?"

"I don't know but I feel like there is something down this tunnel," I respond, almost whispering.

"It's probably nothi-" An echo of something crashing cut him off. I know for sure it was from the tunnel. The sounds got louder. This never happened before. mean we did hear something about a month ago when we snuck in, but thought nothing of it.

"What the heck was that?" questioned Ezra.

"I don't know. None of us do, you idiot," countered Ace, panicking. Sophie had leaned onto the wall, most likely getting ready to run. Sophie pulled me into a hug, when I looked into her eyes, I know she must've seen something in the darkness.

The tunnel felt like it went on forever. We went on updating the map as we went. Though this is one of the stupidest things we have ever done. The noises just disappeared but against common sense, we decided to go on and find the source. It was tense from the beginning and it's a first. We have never been that scared of the shafts, the risk of gas masks breaking and getting lost was our only concern til now. I wonder when a turn will appear, it's getting boring just seeing old, empty mining tunnels.

"Did you guys feel something," Sophie muttered under her breath. I barely heard what she said.

"Feel what?" I asked as we came to a stop.

"I felt something touch my shoulder," she told us. Whatever we felt before became even worse as our eyes widened. I went cold, and everything went black.

Everything was just static. I feel cold and wet. Why is Ezra laying beside me? Sophie slumped over against the wall right next to him. The pain shoots up even when I try to sit up. Everything seems so familiar.

"Welcome back to humble home," Oliver announced. "Oh, you're awake. That's good."

"Why aren't we in the mines," I asked, staring at a roof.

"Well, you passed out, then Ezra also passed. So the rest of us agreed to wrap it up and leave. And we didn't want to risk going deeper into the mines, in case something could kill us," explained Liam sitting at a nearby table. "Sophie fainted once we stepped out of the mine."

"By the way, we are in the farmhouse," Ace mentioned. "Oliver finalized the papers yesterday."

"Really," I was quite surprised. I knew Oliver wanted to buy the property but never expected it so soon. The sounds of birds singing are always something of good company. "I didn't know that."

"None of us really knew, but at least we can hang here after work some days," Sophie pointed out. All eyes were on her. "I have been awake for a while now."

A piercing sound stop the tense staring competition, and the attention was on the kettle now. As it should be and will be for a while. A few hours must've passed when we entered the mines. It isn't often that you would see stars or the town at night after a few-hour shift. We did a good job rebuilding the farmhouse though it still needs some work. It isn't finished, but it's getting there. The breeze constantly made me feel frozen.

"Are we working tomorrow?" Ace wondered.

"No, but we are the day after that I believe," Ezra reminded him.

What a great time to be alive, especially while trying to fall asleep on a thin mattress. I am a being of pure thought and ice. Thank goodness Oliver let us stay the night instead of shivering our way home. I absolutely hate this feeling. Why does it always feel like all eyes are on me? I like to believe it's the stars watching over me but it feels like there is someone watching from a distance, sometimes from the window. It must be the nerves acting weird or something, paranoia or something. I mean this happens often but not as intense as this. I mean it should concern me but it isn't. Why is it that way though?

"Good morning everyone," greeted Liam, gleefully at 7 in the morning.

"Shhh," Ezra shushed. "We aren't even fully awake yet, plus it's seven in the morning."

"Still, it is an amazing morning," He gleamed.

"Eat your breakfast and go for a walk. We might be fully awake by then," I retorted.

"Moody much," Liam said, smiling.

"Not a morning person," Ezra brought up. "Now eat your breakfast."

It might be nice to see a smile in the morning but not when you're still half-asleep and your body is aching. Then it just seems annoying and weird.

"There's toast in the cupboard if you want any," I mentioned. "There's jam as well."

"Thanks," Liam responded. "But is there anything other than jam?"

"I don't know and don't ask again. Bother Oliver when he decides to wake up," I tell him, still wanting to go back to bed.

"Nevermind," Liam responded. "I will just have to find something else."

"Better go to the store then," I mention, disgruntled. " I heard they have loads of options."

"I bet they do," he said sarcastically. "Well, I best be off."

"Adios," I say, before finishing the sandwich. "I better go home as well. I'll see you later."

"Ok," yawned Ezra. "See you later."

The door shut tight, and nothing is better than being greeted and woken up by the cold breeze of the morning. The road home shall take longer than expected. Away I go, off to the great unknown, otherwise known as the forest. I mean it will be great to be in an actual bed this time and not cardboard. I hope the early bird is skipping on his merry way home. The other thing is looking towards that old village in the morning and night feels quite different every single day. It is just the way it is.
