We never found the source of the noise, even going back through that tunnel, we never heard it again. Even days later and after mapping that entire tunnel nothing appeared, it was a dead end, we discovered only a couple of shafts that were connected to it. We stopped trying to find the source of the sound about a month later, which, recently is currently November, the reason being we were getting nowhere and we have to focus on school. Plus, being three months into work, this is quite worrisome but we have some hope of completing the newly improved map within two more months, maybe less, seeing how much time we have and if the weather wasn't so bad.

"Are we ever going to get this thing done," complained Liam, pacing around the opening.

"Will you quit complaining, we're only three months on the job. We can't get this done so quickly," Sophie pointed the obvious out. "Plus, this is a mine for crying out loud. We don't the exact size of this place, we can only guess anyways."

"She has a point," agreed Oliver. "We can't get things done in three months. We have years to finish and get this mine to be at least somewhat safe. I don't know what for, but that's what they told us. You were there."

"I know, but I wish we can finally finish this and forget what happened so far," Liam lamented, finally sitting on the edge of one of the present mine carts.

"I understand but this requires patients and clean air at least," I spoke, coming from the cave lake area, giving up trying to find anything useful. "I thought that was common knowledge."

"I wish it was, but clean air in a mine would be a miracle," Ezra stated. "The state of mines itself would be dangerous for us to even take off the gas mask. You know what I mean. For example, when we first entered the mine. We were naive and one of us decided it was a good idea to do such."

"But I only applied for the job because I needed one and I thought it would be sitting at a desk doing paperwork or maybe arresting people. Not here in an abandoned mine, trying to make it safe or something." Liam continued to whine, but I agree with some of the things he said. I never would have known that I would be here in a mine with people I have only seen in school and never even talked to. If you had told me a few months ago where I would be before the end of the year, I wouldn't have expected here with some friends that seemed to be like family.

"Same here, but this is an opportunity to learn about this place and have adventures here," Ace spoke, this time coming from the table, facing the faded map above. "I want to find out where that sound came from but I know that will take time, as well as the map."

"I guess, but wouldn't it be interesting if we did find how big the mine is? I mean what if it connects to the village? Now that would be interesting," Liam remarked, sounding more excited about the job more than ever. "If we did find that out, and make the mine a bit safer. I wonder what we do after all this and we finished with this place?"

"Well I guess, we all would move away and start new lives. Maybe meet up every once in a while, and catch up," I said with wonder showing itself.

"I hope not," Sophie dismayed, I could almost see tears appear, but I must be seeing things. Things can get awkward quickly when things like this are brought up. We always get over the awkwardness of it sooner or later, and we always do, but one day we won't I know that for sure.

There was one thing that we did accomplish. We did find a tunnel that lead into a cavern, though the cavern had one entrance and exit. This finding gave us hope. We guess the mine is more than just mine shafts and the occasional tunnel connection shafts. Whatever or whoever created this cavern must've created more of these. There isn't much evidence except this cavern an hour from the elevator. What was decided when we found something that wasn't a mine shaft was to add it to another map we created to keep track of the other stuff we found, as well as a list of things we found. isn't that exciting?

The farmhouse is closer than ever to being finished. Oliver had gotten some people with experience, to help him finish building the farmhouse. Each day it looks like a house than a decaying mess in a field, which looked quite good for an abandoned building. There is finally an actual mattress in the house as well, so there is progress with furniture. I ensure you that it looks much better than it did a couple of weeks ago. At least the cabinets are full of food, thankfully. The colour also matches the house as well, the light green is a really nice colour. More or less, it is coming along.

"Are all of you settled in?" yelled Oliver from the kitchen. We told our parents we would be staying here, last time they were worried but somewhat calmed down once we explained. Though we did deserve a punishment for not telling them.

"Yeah, thanks again," we all thanked him one by one. The rooms we slept in last time were our rooms once again.

"Good. Now supper's ready," he called us out to the dining room. The smell overwhelmed my senses.

"Are we having stew?" Liam asked sitting down, and guessing from the smell, it just might be.

"Yes, we are," Oliver confirmed bringing the pot to the table. The joy from a meal was definitely there.

A meal such as that was filling and from all the talking we were all just exhausted, most of which was work, but none the less, we all just needed to sleep. Even the moon had come up to tell us to sleep. What an interesting day.
