Why do we have screaming matches in the mines in the first place? If it were someone's fault it would be Ezras. Most likely his idea, since it seems like something he would think of.
"Will you guys be quiet," Oliver commented during all the screaming. "I am trying to think. And if you want to relieve stress, then run around the lake cavern for a bit. It might work for you three."
Then it was quiet, so tranquil. Ezra, Ace, and Liam looked toward Oliver with looks that could kill, and then they were gone. They were always fast runners, especially when it came to cross-country running. Then again they were only 3 among 10 other guys on the cross-country running team. They need one more so they can have two even teams.
"Ready, set, go!" Liam shouted, commencing a race, followed by running feet. Then came the friendly insults, echoing throughout the mine. The elevator does seem to be the better option and I saw the town right in front of me, still hearing the three racing each from a distance.
"Eliza, wait for me," I hear Sophie call out from behind me.
"Hey Sophie," I greet her, turning back to start walking again, the wind blowing against my face.
"Quick question," She said in between breathing. "How long have we been working here."
"Since the beginning of September," I told her. "It'll be our fourth month soon. It feels weird since it feels like we've been working a bit longer than that."
"Right," She laughed with a smirk appearing on her face. "See you. Thanks for telling me."
"See you at school," I say before heading on toward home.
The knocking was heard in intervals.
"Eliza, can we finish our project in the mine," Ezra asked.
"Why in the mine," I question, thoughts whirling through my head.
"It's the only place with the least distractions," He begged. "And the others will also be there working on their school projects. Oliver says he will join us later."
"You know we have to ask to go into the mines on our days off, and we need to be supervised," I brought up.
"Touche," nodded Ezra, sitting on the front steps.
"We could go to the farmhouse," I suggested. "It is the only other place we can work on school projects other than the mine, plus it is much safer."
"Good point," He sighed, agreeing. "I can ask the others about that. But if we do go into the mine, we should map more of the place."
"Agree," I respond. "If so, let's start with the tunnel I passed out in."
"Sure," He spoke up. "See you later!"
"See you soon," I yelled back before he disappeared around the corner.
"How did you do it?" I asked Ezra, concerned.
"Do what?" He questions, slightly high-pitched.
"You know what I mean," I retort, scowling. "Don't make any excuses."
"I asked," He spoke, after a few seconds of silence. "I also said that Oliver would be supervising us."
"Why," I sigh, questioning further.
"You know why," He quickly replied, just as the elevator appeared.
"Touche," I replied, standing up to greet the others.
"We better get this over this," Sophie said. "We'll have no luck completing the layout of the mine."
"Understood" We all replied, overlapping.
