Chapter 15: Impossible

There is an old saying that when you die, your whole life flashes before your eyes. Whether or not it is true is irrelevant. You're about to die, the inevitable darkness doesn't care. It might as well be a movie being shown on the Titanic right before it sinks. The reason why anyone takes it seriously is a mystery unto itself.

Though, for once in the entire history of humanity. For a single person, their entire life really did flash before their eyes. And while it was true that the person in question was about to die. It was through this process that an idea was formed. Seeing every point in their life before it happened, alongside looking back on it with slight nostalgia at the same time. Created a moment where this person truly looked within themselves.

What they saw was yet another scenario, one so ludicrous and stupid. There was no way that it would happen. That's the whole reason why the person was doing all of this beforehand. To stop the endless cycle of possibilities and create one that they didn't have to oversee. It was unnecessary, it was unpredictable, it had a 0.0000000000005 percent chance of working.

"At least….it's not….zero." A dying Shinji said, smiling, even though it was painful to even move.

"Shut up." The Reflection responded, but he had a point. "Tell you what, if you actually survive this. I'll let you live, I'll make no more attempts to take your life. And you can see for yourself if this scenario happens."

Shinji laughed, coughed up more blood, and then passed out. His smile still on his face. The Reflection, meanwhile, had seen better days. Due to it underestimating the pain it had inflicted upon itself. The entity needed to wait for a minute or so before it gained the strength to stand up and fight again. Except, it also had to stabilize Shinji so long as the boy didn't die too soon.

Meaning it was going to take even longer to heal. That wouldn't have been so bad, but on top of all of this. Diligentia was reforming in the middle of the city. Before, he had taken the form of a human-like fat person with no ears, black eyes, a tentacle beard and completely white skin. Now, it took the form of something similar to that of a classic looking alien. With large black magnifying glass-like eyes that took up most of its heads.

He barely had a mouth like it did before under its beard. Yet it did have a tiny little hole at the bottom of its cone shaped head. To which it began to admit high pitched groans, that made it sound like a baby. The rest of its body was muscular shoulders. Then below that, nothing but dozens of long, skinny, and low hanging tentacles. That all reached down to the streets of Tokyo-3, scraping against the concrete and steel structure. Like bows on an out of tune violin. Creating more high pitched noises.

The Reflection could handle this ear-piercing sound, but Sakura could now barely stand up due how painful it was to listen too. Even when covering her ears, the sound was so painfully loud. The poor girl didn't even notice that the giant's skin had changed from pure white to a collage of red, orange and white. With the skin always moving and changing like bioluminescence.

"Oh, would you shut up!?" The Reflection said, weakly.

The sound stopped immediately, and Diligentia turned to face the Reflection. Where it took in the sight of the two boys on the ground. While the little girl was weeping in pain and terror. To which it smiled, yet no normal human eye could even really make it out.

"Once there was pain caused by corruption.

Followed by disorder that only added to the horror.

It was started by those who helped in the construction.

Of the city built on the tomb of the creator."

The sound of Diligentia's voice was like a baby whispering. It was unlike anything that Sakura had heard in her entire life.

"Oh, here we fucking go with the bad poetry." The Reflection said, rolling its eyes.

In response, one of the tentacles moved at Mach speed. Wrapped itself around the leg of Evangelion, and then threw it towards the children. It landed behind them, thankfully not landing on any of the passed-out civilians. Though the impact caused the ground shake, sending Sakura, Shinji, and the Reflection flying. While also sending the adults and other children rolling down the hill.

"However, there were others who saw this atrocity.

They sought to save the world through their own ways.

While many resisted our generosity.

Diligence, along with passion, helped them submit in mere days."

Sakura groaned as she tried to stand up. When she noticed that she landed in the arms of the Reflection. Though it did break her fall, it left the boy-like entity nearly broken. Covering the little girl in blood. She would've screamed, if the Reflection didn't make a shushing sound. They had landed behind a large rock that had been dislodged when the EVA landed, keeping them out of view of Diligentia.

Shinji was also a little bit lucky as well. He had landed in a tree. Though the blast certainly didn't help with his damaged internal organs and concussed head. As the boy slumped down the branches, it caused the Reflection to cough up blood. Giving away their position. This time in response, one of the tentacles lifted up an entire building as if it were a mere paper weight.

"Soon, you will come to understand our plight.

Joining us in our crusade against this chaotic course,

Embrace the moment and take flight.

When you become one of us, you shall feel no remorse."

While Diligentia was monologuing and about to throw the building towards them. The Reflection pulled Sakura in closer to whisper in her ear.

"Your hands are stained with my blood. Run to the robot and place your hands on it. My power needs to regenerate, and the machine awakening is our only chance of surviving."

The girl was incredibly scared, but the soft calm whispering of the entity was enough to make her relax.

"I….I…okay. When the robot starts to fight again. Is there anything I can do to help it?"

The Reflection slightly laughed, paused to think, then laughed even harder.

"Get your guitar and play the Mission Impossible theme." It told her.

"What? From that old movie? Or was it a TV show?"

"Just, trust me." It winked.

She smiled a little bit at its confidence. Then ran towards the machine. Diligentia saw her running and lobbed the entire building in her direction. The hill turned nearly pitch black as the shadow of the building blocked out the light of the moon. Though right before the building landed on the girl and the people on the hillside.

Her hand connected with the metal of the EVA.

Time suddenly stopped. Everything from Diligentia to the smallest speck of dust stood still. Though, the Reflection remained in motion, breathing as best it could despite being terribly injured. As it waited for the inevitable. Though after a couple of minutes, it finally heard what it was expecting.

"Shinji?" A soft voice whispered.

The Reflection sighed. Soon, Yui emerged from the Evangelion. Her presence lit up the darkened shadow that the building had caused. She was dressed in her scientist outfit she had on before she died. The woman looked around, confused by the light she was emitting and how time had stopped. Taking in her surroundings of hundreds of people laying on the ground passed out.

Along with a little girl, covered in blood, placing her hand on the EVA. Then, she noticed the Reflection, lying on the ground. Trying to breathe as best it could.

"SHINJI!" She shouted and ran to it.

When she arrived by its side. The Reflection groaned in disappointment.

"I'm alright, and I'm not Shinji."

"What are you talking about? You are my son; I can tell just by your presence. It's ... feels different, but…...I don't know." She said, kneeling down and cradling its head in her hands. She was still confused, but she was more relieved that she was being reunited with her son.

"I used to be your son. I'm sure you can sense that. Given the new form that I've given you. Would your son be able to wield the power to stop time and bring you back to life? Your real son is in that tree over there." The Reflection pointed as best it could to the tree where Shinji was.

It was just outside the shadow of the building. So, with the light emanating from her body. Yui was able to spot him pretty quickly.

"Don't move!" She said, before running off to get her son.

The Reflection simply gave her an annoyed look, though she didn't see it. Yui ran to get Shinji out of the tree. Trying to be as gentle as possible, but she was distracted by the horrific monster in the distance. The groans of the Reflection snapped her back to reality and made it clear that she wasn't exactly helping.

"Sorry!" She shouted over to the entity.

"Don't worry, I want to die. And the world is better off if I do." It responded.

Yui wandered back over to the Reflection with Shinji in her arms. Along with a sad look on her face when she laid him down next to his twin.

"Do you really believe that? Have we failed you that much?" She asked, sounding like she was about to cry.

"Don't bother. If you knew about all the things that I've done. You would want to strangle me. Also, don't try to lump yourself in with the people who 'failed' me. You weren't even around to be a factor."

This pushed Yui over the edge. Though she only cried a little.

"I'm sorry, Shinji. If I had known how severe the EVA contact experiment was going to be. I….I…."

"Would've found another way? Bullshit." The Reflection finished her sentence. "In a sense, you knew it was the only way to succeed."

"No." She responded. "I knew that I would eventually die. If not by the EVA, then by SEELE's agents. Tell me, did your father ever give you those tapes I pre-recorded for you to watch after my death?"

The Reflection simply gave her the same look as before. To which Yui sighed in response.

"I see. Oh, Gendo, why?" She asked, slightly crying some more. Looking between the two versions of her son.

"I'm sorry that I brought you into a world like this." She told both of them.

"I never blamed you for that. Life is such a small and pleasurable thing in the great story that is the history of the universe. I don't blame you for falling in love and wanting to take care of a child. What I blame you for isn't taking full responsibility. And not understanding how the world would treat your only son. Though even then, the most miserable life does have its moments of happiness. I should know."

Yui now started to cry in joy.

"Oh, my boy, you're so mature now."

"I'm not your boy!" It nearly shouted.

Yui pulled back a bit, yet still kept her smile.

"Yet you still look at me like I'm your mother."

The Reflection didn't have a response.

"Earlier, you said you're not Shinji anymore. Then what should I call you?"

"Hmph, I've had many names. Though my enemies call me Dominus."

"Hm, the Latin word for master. How would that be an insult? They're your enemies, wouldn't they give you a name that made fun of you?"

"It does make fun of me. Because I never wanted to be this powerful, and when they tried to make me their leader. I…killed them. All of them."

Yui was a bit disturbed.

"Who are 'them?'" She asked.

"The creators, the ancient ones, the first ancestral race. The one who threw this building that will soon kill us all if you don't interfere. He is one of those things. All he wants is complete control, like the rest of them. No free will, only whatever fits their scenarios. I didn't want to bring you into this, but I'm not in the best shape. I knew to stop time as well, because you would want answers before saving everyone."

Yui looked embarrassed, but then firm on what she needed to ask.

"Well, in that case, just answer me at least three questions. Then I'll see what I can do. It seems that your blood has given me strength beyond even berserk."

Dominus smirked a little bit at the coincidence.

"It's because of my raw power. If I were to pilot the EVA, it would destroy the world. This power is only to be used as an absolute last resort." Dominus responded.

"What exactly would happen if you did pilot the EVA?" She asked.

"Adam." Is all it said.

Yui felt a shiver down her spine. She knew exactly what that meant.

"Are you the strongest out of all of them? The Ancestral Race I mean."

"Yes."

The Reflection was being too vague, she had to make the next question count.

"Do you really have to die in order for a better future to happen?"

Dominus remained silent. The mother and son looked at each for a minute or two. Not entirely sure what to say.

"I don't know." It eventually responded, softly. "I've gone my entire life observing people. Taking in their little habits and problems. Though never using any of that knowledge to my advantage. Not until I was granted this immeasurable power. Then I used it non-stop to try and rewrite history.

Only for none of my ideas to work. Along with the interference of the Anciestrials. These timelines have become my new Hell. All I want to do is perish and feel the sweet embrace of death that has eluded me for so long."

It then looked to Shinji. The boy was calmly sleeping. Making Dominus jealous of the boy's temporary inner peace.

"Yet, even now, I still seek to right my wrongs. Even if they cost me my life."

Yui then cupped the Reflection's head in her hands.

"Promise me something, promise me you'll at least try to find a way to live. So that one day, I may be able to see you again. Outside the body of this machine."

Dominus felt so vulnerable and shaken by this act of kindness and appreciation. It even began to cry a little bit.

"I'll…I'll try."

"Thank you." She said, leaning in to kiss it on the forehead. "I will always love you."

The sound of those words made the Reflection start to sob uncontrollably.

"No, you don't understand. I've done so many terrible things."

"And I wasn't there to stop you from doing it. Please, I want you to understand. No matter what you've done. I'm sure you had your reasons. It's a mother's job to love her child, and I've been failing at that for too long."

The two simply sat there for a minute or two. As the Reflection was allowed to be emotional for the first time in a while. Though eventually, Yui pulled back a bit. Asked if 'He was alright.' It responded with 'Yes.'

"Then how should I save you?" She asked.

The Reflection straightened itself out as best it could to explain this.

"Alright, all your senses and instincts will be increased. In a sense, you will have one hundred percent control over the EVA. No animalistic brain taking over, it will just be you. Though the strength has not changed, which is a problem considering the power of Diligentia. The giant jellyfish over there with the strength rip buildings apart like they're nothing."

"So, how exactly do you expect me to kill it?" She asked.

"Well, you still have the strength and healing of the EVA. So, you're not completely defenseless, it will just take a few more punches to take the thing down. Alongside that, you'll have some help. Minions of mine will play music that will invigorate you and help fight the thing with their own powers."

"Minions? What exactly are they?"

"That's the fourth question. You're not getting another. Just get back in the robot and get in position under the building. You can pick it up and throw it back at Diligentia."

"Fine, but you owe me an explanation for when we meet again." She said, annoyed, but understanding.

"I must say, mom. You're taking in this whole situation a lot better than I expected you would."

Yui then kissed the unconscious Shinji and made her way back over to the EVA.

"I'm a lost spirit stuck inside of a robot. Helping my son to fight against aliens invading our planet. As well as against an organization that plans to assimilate all of humanity to become Gods themselves." She said as she walked, looking back at Dominus right before she walked back inside. "You being a God, is one of the least surprising things. And it means that at least something went right."

The Reflection simply shook its head.

"Again, you don't know what I've done."

"It doesn't matter. You're my son."

She walked and disappeared into the EVA. Then, the robot began to move, making sure to carefully move around the civilians. Though still getting into a position where it could lift the building. Little did Yui know that the shadows began to move everyone out of the way at the Reflection's command. All except for Shinji, who was still laid on the ground next to his twin.

Once the shadows had moved all of the civilians out of the way. They helped move Sakura to the top of the building that was overshadowing everything. Even bringing her guitar along with her. Once everything was into position, the Reflection made an announcement.

"Alright, when my blood made contact with you. I stopped the flow of time so you could take in the situation and get into position. However, once I snap my fingers. Everything returns to normal, are you ready for time to resume?" It asked.

"YES." Growled the EVA, through the cold mechanical lips.

The Reflection used its slowly returning strength to snap its fingers. Time then resumed, and Sakura found herself standing on top of a building. Though, it was more like the side of the thing. As she was standing on the concrete in between the windows. Making her feel like she was standing sideways, like she was about to fall.

It was incredibly disorienting for her, and she almost made the mistake of stepping on to one of the windows. Though once she saw Diligentia, she was able to reorient herself. Soon, she found her guitar nearby and picked it up. In the distance, the giant was watching her and wrapping its arms around more buildings.

"Oh how the mighty have fallen.

The child soldier is recruiting more child soldiers.

Perhaps if you stopped scraping-"

"SHUT UP!" Sakura shouted at the top of her lungs, interrupting Diligentia's monologue. "Let me tell you something, you stupid looking jellyfish! I've had to be the woman of the house ever since my mom died! Fighting a giant with the power of Rock and Roll like something out of an anime! That sounds right up my ally! So how about you shut and die already!"

Her voice was cracking, and she was visibly crying, but she wasn't going to let the one who saved her down. Except, there was one problem, she wasn't entirely sure how the Mission Impossible theme went. She had heard it, though, trying to remember the theme to a movie she wasn't old enough to watch yet. Its wasn't exactly the easiest thing to accomplish.

Even if it was just a couple notes on her guitar. It was still a bit difficult to get the groove of the theme going. Especially when under pressure, as the girl had never played an instrument while someone was watching. Let alone when something like this counted and she couldn't screw up. Which inevitably happened, as she stumbled from one note to the other.

Diligentia scoffed at her incompetence and enjoyed the sight of her crying.

"Perhaps if you stopped scraping the bottom.

Then you'd rely on people who were a little bit older."

One of the free tentacles shot at Sakura. Before the girl even had time to react, it bounced off of an AT-Field. Diligentia was surprised by this and retracted the tentacle. Instead, it prepared to throw more buildings. The little girl on the other hand didn't know what happened. While she was looking around, she wasn't looking at the windows.

Where one of the shadows emerged, with the window rippling as the hand reached out onto the concrete. The shadowy figure emerged into the light, and the window returned to normal, as the shadow fully formed into a boy-like shape. It then stood up and approached Sakura, who had begun to try and play the Mission Impossible theme again.

"That's…not how you do it." The shadow had a familiar voice. Similar to that of Shinji and the Reflection.

"I know! It's a lot more complicated than it looks!" She responded.

"Here, let me show you." The voice was a lot softer than the Reflection.

"Ugh, alright, here." She took off the guitar and turned around. "Please don't judge-AAAAAHHHH!"

Sakura dropped her guitar and screamed as she looked at a boy with a pale white face. With the white part coming off like dead skin at this neck. He was shirtless, showing more of the dead skin like stuff coming off of him. His pants were jet black, just like his shoes, spiky hair, and pure black eyes. Much like Diligentia, he didn't seem to have any pupils. Just completely dark hollow husks for eyeballs.

The girl nearly stumbled into one of the windows, but a ghoul-like Shinji caught her. At first she tried to push her away. Though the boy was firm in his grasp on her arm. As he pulled her away and put her towards the center. Then he let her go and backed away.

"It's okay, I just look weird. You can blame the timeline I was born in." He told her.

"What!?"

"I come from a timeline where the sun went out. Where I was forced to adapt in order to survive. Didn't Dominus tell you about us?"

"Who?"

"The shadows, we're the other versions of Shinji."

Sakura tried calming herself down.

"That…that's Dominus's brother's name, right? Shinji?" She asked.

The new version shrugged.

"Yeah, I guess."

Their conversation was then interrupted by the sight of a building flying right at them. Except the new version of Shinji was fast, as he managed to pick up the guitar and strum it. Causing the building to explode, and then reversing it. Sending the rubble flying back at Diligentia.

Who was forced to swat all the stray bits out of the with his tentacles. None got through to his giant head, but the different arms were now a bit messed up by how big some of the pieces were. Sakura looked back and forth between the ghoul and Diligentia with a surprised look. It was when she turned around that the new version tossed her the guitar back.

She caught it and watched as the ghoul pulled out a new guitar. It was brown and looked like it was made of waxed wood, while her's was white and black. The ghoul tuned its guitar up, and looked at her with a smile on its face.

"I'm not as strong as Dominus but guarantee you." It took a pick out from under his tongue. "I could still beat him in a guitar duel. You should hear him, he starts crying like a bitch. 'Oh no, Wes! Why did I save him? He's better than me.'"

His sarcastic impression of the Reflection was cut short by the whipping sound of an entire building about to be thrown at them.

"That's your name? Wes? I thought your name was Shinji."

"Dominus gives us all stupid names. Helps him sort the millions of us out. Now, get your own guitar ready. This is going to be a real blow out." He said, before kicking off the song.

(Take A Look Around - Limp Bizkit)

(0:00 to 0:10)

Wes properly did the first couple of notes correctly. Which caused the building that was now flying at them to slow down. Sakura was a quick learner and joined in with the opening.

(0:11 to 0:19)

The two of them were so preoccupied with keeping tempo. That they didn't notice another Shinji look alike appear out of another window. This time, they had a bass guitar, and they were dressed like a maid for some reason. They helped with placing the building down and intact on the ground.

(0:20 to 0:28)

Another Shinji appeared; this time he was a drummer that appeared on top of the building that they had set back down. He was using his cybernetic arms in order to play the instrument, with no drumsticks needed. The clash of cymbals mixed with his metal limbs resulted in a high pitch that only Diligentia could hear.

Causing the giant to shiver and retract its tentacles. As it tried to adjust to the noise.

(0:29 to 0:37)

The building that the main three members were on began to move. It's this slight movement that caused Sakura to notice someone was behind her. Not only was it the Shinji that was dressed as a maid. It was another version of Shinji, this time in baggy pants, white t-shirt and a red cap. Walking up from behind them with an attitude in his step.

(0:38 to 0:47)

All the tension in the world today.

All the little girls fillin' up the world today.

When the good comes to bad, the bad comes the good.

But I'ma live my life like I should.

The lyrics coming from baggy pants Shinji weren't exactly amazing, but they were said with such confidence and truth. That it got everyone playing along in the mood. It's what got Wes to play the extra notes to the song. And while the insults were mainly targeted toward Diligentia. Baggy Pants's interaction with the rest of the band made things feel cool and badass.

(0:48 to 0:57)

Now all the critics wanna hit it.

Ya shit can how we did it, just because they don't get it.

But I'll stay fitted, new era committed.

Now this red cap gets a rap from these critics.

The lyrics were so bad that even the seven-year-old Sakura was laughing at them. Yet the feeling of sticking it to the man was still there. As Diligentia tried and failed to attack by throwing five buildings at once at them. Now, Sakura didn't know which was funnier. The angry expression on the alien baby's face.

Or the over-the-top tough guy look that baggy pants Shinji was going for.

(0:58 to 1:06)

But do we always gotta cry?

Do we always gotta live inside a lie?

Life's just a blast that's movin' really fast.

You better stay on top or life will kick you in the ass.

As things slowed down in the song, so did things in the battle. The buildings started to weigh as much as feathers. As if they were floating in zero gravity. Wes and Maid Shinji decided to take advantage of the zero gravity and jump up high in the air. Running across the buildings, getting closer to the giant octopus. Who looked just as confused as Sakura.

(1:07 to 1:15)

Follow me into a solo.

Remember that, kid? So what you wanna do?

And where you gonna run when you're starin' down the cable of a

Mic pointed at your grill like a gun?

While Diligentia was busy taking in the floating band members. Sakura was taken by the arm by Baggy Pants Shinji, who helped her jump in the air. They floated after their friends, causing her to lose her place in the song. Though it didn't matter, as it seemed that Wes just kept the groove going.

Sakura had trouble jumping from building to building. Yet Baggy Pants Shinji was secretly encouraging her with his lyrics. As he guided her up above Diligentia, who tried to hit the band members with his tentacles. Though they all managed to avoid them, with Baggy Pants just barely pulling Sakura out of the way of one of them.

(1:16 to 1:25)

Limp Bizkit is rockin' the set.

It's like Russian Roulette, when you're placin', you bet.

So don't be upset when you're broke and you're done.

'Cause I'ma be the one till I jet.

As the group was floating in the air, they gestured to Sakura to really bring the beat down. She was trying her best not to puke, so it was hard for her to come up with good riffs to match the theme. Then she noticed that the buildings were right beneath them. Brought up even further thanks to the concentration of the band members. Hovering right over Diligentia, whose tentacles had grown tired of trying to break through the steel and concrete.

It's this image that gave Sakura the idea of what was about to happen. This is what helped her close her eyes, focus, and raise her hand with the pic in hand. Then brought down the house, literally.

(1:26 to 1:45)

I know why you wanna hate me.

The floating band members looked down at the jellyfish monster. As Sakura strummed her guitar, she also brought down a building. The first one, Diligentia, was able to brush aside, with its newly revealed AT Field.

I know why you wanna hate me.

Another building was brought down and Diligentia blocked it. Though, the AT Field shimmered more than it did last time.

I know why you wanna hate me.

The next building seemed to leave the AT Field with a massive crack in it.

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately.

The band had one more building left to throw, but they never intended to hit the giant jellyfish directly. As they had perfectly distracted Diligentia from EVA Unit-01, who had been sneaking up on the monster. By pretending the building was just left there as another platform for them to play on.

Though now, Diligentia was so focused on the band above. That he didn't notice how close that building had gotten.

I know why you wanna hate me (Wanna hate me).

Sakura was joining in with the backing chorus now and repeating Baggy Pants Shinji's verses. Feeling extra confident thanks to Wes's backup riffs.

I know why you wanna hate (Wanna hate me).

They brought the building down. Fully shattering the AT-Field. Despite not having a shield, Diligentia decided to go on the offensive. Though, it still didn't notice the last building close by.

Now I know why you wanna hate me!

'CAUSE HATE IS ALL THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN LATELY!

The entire band joined in with shouting that last line.

(1:46 to 2:04)

Diligentia didn't get a single tentacle up before being hit by another building. As the giant was nearly pushed to the ground, it threw the building off of itself. Only for it to be broken by the EVA running through it, empowered by the music. As it emerged from the rubble, the EVA layed down blow after blow to the beat of the song.

Wes took the lead with this part, as Sakura was too busy trying to jump around. Even though they were floating in midair. Meaning all she did was spin around as she banged her head and jerked herself around. It was a cute sight that of course Baggy Pants Shinji joined her in doing. While Wes and Maid Shinji simply smiled at them, focusing more on their instruments.

And now you wanna hate me!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

When Diligentia started fighting back, hitting the EVA with what felt like a hundred punches all at once. The EVA countered by grabbing its many arms and swinging the monster through multiple buildings.

And now you wanna hate me!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

(2:05 to 2:13)

Eventually, Diligentia managed to wrap its arms around the EVA and turn the tables on it. By using the momentum, it had built up to throw the EVA into the hills. As the robot landed, the monster shot its tentacles at it. Hitting the machine with hundreds of blows, causing some of the armor to start falling off.

Diligentia had become so focused on killing the EVA. That it didn't notice the band descending back to the building that the drummer was on. Sakura felt great to be standing on a solid surface, it gave her the ability to properly play her instrument. It's here that she finally got a good look at the assortment of weirdos she was playing with.

Though, that didn't seem to matter that much. As it was now more important to get Diligentia's attention away from the EVA.

(2:14 to 2:22)

Does anyone really know the secret?

Or the combination for this life and where to keep it?

It's kinda sad when you don't know the meanin'.

But everything happens for a reason (Everything happens for a reason).

Baggy Pants and Sakura's lyrics distracted Diligentia from finishing off the EVA. Not to mention, as if out of nowhere. The lyrics became decent and were similar to what the debate that the Reflection had with Diligentia earlier.

(2:23 to 2:32)

I don't even know what I should say?

'Cause I'm an idiot, a loser, microphone abuser.

I analyze every second I exist.

Beatin' up my mind every second with my fists.

The lyrics were surprisingly accurate to Shinji's current struggles. This helped with Baggy Pants turning to Sakura while singing, and then started hitting himself. Causing Diligentia to somehow feel the hits as well. The girl didn't exactly like the sight of someone who looked like a friend beating themselves up. Though if it helped with beating the giant, then more power to them, for now at least.

(2:33 to 2:42)

And everybody wanna run (Wanna run).

Everybody wanna hide from the gun (Hide from the gun).

You can take that ride through this life, if you want.

But you can't take the edge off the knife (No, sir!).

The back and forth between the silly looking fourteen-year-old and seven-year-old guitarist. Became so cute and fun that the other band members started to sing along. Like it was some kind of messed up lullaby.

All while Diligentia wanted them all to die right then and there. He started floating towards them, shooting his tentacles again. Though this time, Baggy Pants punches and kicks as he danced around on stage. Blocked each tentacle, similar to how he made Diligentia feel his punches earlier. As if there was an invisible force there itself to fight back.

Alongside that, this distraction gave the beaten-up EVA the chance to sneak off and grab the progressive knife out of its shoulder pack. Along with a pallet rifle from one of the nearby supply buildings. The music also helped hide the sound of its footsteps, almost like something out of a certain movie series.

(2:43 to 2:50)

And now you want your money back (Your money back).

But you're denied 'cause your brain's fried from the sack.

And there ain't nothin' I can do.

'Cause life is a lesson, you learn it when you're through.

Nothing much happened, as Diligentia simply went back to basics. Of grabbing a nearby building and beginning to throw it at them.

(2:51 to 3:10)

I know why you wanna hate me.

Sang Baggy Pants with an evil smile, looking behind Diligentia.

I know why you wanna hate me.

Maid Shinji joined in, getting her own line and singing it in a very feminine way.

I know why you wanna hate me.

Wes got to join in, singing his line in a monster voice and briefly scaring Sakura.

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately.

The Robotic armed drummer sang this one.

I know why wanna hate me (Wanna hate me).

I know why wanna hate me (Wanna hate me).

Sakura and Baggy Pants traded positions on these lines. As if she and him had practiced this for years, but time flies when you're having fun.

Now I know why you wanna hate me.

Right as Diligentia was about to throw the building at them. He noticed that it was particularly heavy, and by that point. It was too late for him.

'CAUSE HATE IS ALL THE WORLD HAS EVEN SEEN LATELY!

(3:11 to 3:35)

The heavily scared, yet raving EVA had jumped up on the building. Then jumped again, to break through the building when it came down. Throwing Diligentia's sense of direction off. Giving the EVA a chance to grab the monster by the neck. Then drive his big head into the ground and drag it.

And now you wanna hate me!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

Despite the rallying cries and riffs from the bad. Diligentia managed to wrap its arms around the robot. Though this time, it was ready for it. And it used its wait to start whipping and slamming the monster around onto everything.

And now you wanna hate me!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

Then, when the main riff hit. The EVA pinned Diligentia to the ground and started punching him to the beat. With almost all of the metal falling off the helmet, the band could see the psychotic smile on the machine's face.

(3:36 to 4:14)

(Shhhhhh….)

A bright light flashed, covering Diligentia and EVA's position. Sakura had to look away, less she would go blind. Even though she had stopped playing her instrument, the band kept playing. With Baggy Pants coming over to her and gesturing for her to give him the guitar. To which she did, and he gestured for her to start singing.

After her eyes adjusted to looking at the brightness in brief intervals. Sakura could make out the sight of two large beings trading blows. With one clearly winning, though she couldn't tell which one it was. That was, until she saw the massive gut on the one being punched repeatedly in the face.

It gave her a big smile, as she slowly started singing with Baggy Pants joining in:

Now….I….know….why….

Now….I….know….why….(I know why you wanna hate me)

Now….I….know….why….(I know why you wanna hate me)

Now….I….know….why….(I know why you wanna hate me)

(4:14 to 5:21)

As the brightness eventually subsided. It was revealed that Diligentia had regressed back to its first form to do better combat. Though it was clear by the blood and LCL flying everywhere. That he was clearly losing to the demon that had been unmasked from under the EVA's armor. Despite the robot's green eye piercing Sakura's soul.

She couldn't stop singing. Because this monster that hurt her family and friends, needed to die.

Now I know why you wanna hate me!

Now I know why you wanna hate me!

Now I know why you wanna hate me!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

'Cause hate is all the world has even seen lately!

As the remains of Diligentia were now spread out across the land. The band slowly started to end the song. Sakura, as well, decided to fall and sit down. She nearly passed out from jumping around and singing. The other band members didn't blame her though. However, she couldn't fully rest, as she was jump scared by the roar of the Evangelion. Nearly splitting her ear drums.

(End)

That was the worst thing I have ever written. I have no idea why I wanted to use a Limp Bizkit song, outside of it came on while I was listening to music. And the beat made me want to jump around and bang my head.

I'm so lonely.

And don't give me that, you're a great writer, stuff. If you hate this band, let me know and I will never use another song from them ever again. Rip into me, pull my guts out and tell me why they suck. I appreciate the love, but there is only so much praise I can take.

TELL ME SOMETHING I DID WRONG! I'M NOT THAT GOOD!

Thank you all for the support.

See you next time.

I promise the next chapter won't be this long again…maybe.
