Chapter Ten...
The Sorting Hat.
As the doors open, Harry took Susan's hand, while they walked up the steps to professor McGonagall. Harry's first thought was that this was not someone to cross.
"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.
"Thank you, Hagrid." said Minerva.
As Hagrid went into the great hall, Minerva turned to Harry and smiled. Turning to the rest of the group with a stern look.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," said Minerva. "The start of term banquet will begin shortly, but before you can take your seats in the Great Hall, you will need to be sorted into your Houses. The sorting is an important ceremony because, while you're here, your house will be like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your House, sleep in your House dormitory, and spend free time in your House common room.
"The four Houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each House has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn you House points, while any rule breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the House with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever House becomes yours."
"The Sorting ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you're waiting."
After she left, Harry and Susan looked at eachother and smiled while their linked hands glowed. Draco walked over to them, and seen the glow.
"So Pottah, are you going to take my offer?" he asked.
"You know, my family may have been purebloods, but you're not a good person." said Harry.
"Oi, if your father had taken the Dark Lords side, Maybe he'd still be alive." said Crabbe.
"You do realise that Professor McGonagall is right behind you, Right?" said Neville.
Minerva had an angry look at the mention of her godson, she walked up toward Draco and Crabbe. "After the sorting Mr Malfoy, you and Mr.Crabbe will be in Detention tonight with Mr. Filch for insulting the late Lord Potter."
"Yes Professor," said Draco.
"We're ready for you now, follow me." said Minerva.
As all the students followed McGonagall into the Great Hall, they were amazed about the ceiling. Hermione leaned over to Susan and whispered, "It's bewitched to look like the sky outside. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History."
It was hard to believe there was a ceiling there at all, and that the Great Halls didn't simply open on to the heavens. Harry quickly looked down again at the stool that McGonagall placed in front of them.
"Oh, you may not think i'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and Learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
The whole hall burst into applause as the hat finished its song. It bowed to each of the four tables and then became quite still again.
"So we've just got to try on the hat!" Ron whispered to Harry. "I'll kill Fred, he was going on about wrestling a troll."
"Now when i call your name, you will sit here, i shall place the Sorting Hat on your head, and you will be Sorted into your Houses." said McGonagall. Harry looked at the Hat, thinking if what Susan had told him was true.
"Of course it's true," thought Susan. "How else would we be put into our Houses?"
"Good point, Susie." thought Harry.
McGonagall unrolled a piece of parchment and started to read the names off. "Abbott, Hannah!"
A pink faced Hannah stumbled out of line, put on the hat, which fell right down over her eyes, and sat down. A moment's pause-
"HUFFLEPUFF!" shouted the hat.
The table on the right cheered and clapped as Hannah went down to the Hufflepuff table. Harry saw the ghost of the Fat Friar waving merrily at her.
"Susan Bones!"
Susan was nervously walking up to the stool, put on the hat, and sat down. A moment's pause-
"HUFFLEPUFF!" shouted the hat again, and Susan scuttled off to sit next to Hannah.
"Terry Boot!"
"RAVENCLAW!"
The table second from the left clapped this time; several Ravenclaws stood up to shake hands with Terry as he joined them.
"Brocklehurst, Mandy" went into Ravenclaw too, but "Brown, Lavender" became a Gryffindor, and the table on the far left exploded with cheers; Harry could see Ron's twin brothers cat calling.
"Bulstrode, Millicent" then became a Slytherin. Perhaps it was Harry's imagination, after all he'd heard about Slytherin, but he thought they looked like an unpleasant lot.
He was starting to feel definitely sick now. He remembered being picked for teams during gym at his old school. He had always been last to be chosen, not because he was no good, but because no one wanted Dudley to think that they liked him.
"Finch-Fletchley, Justin!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
Sometimes, Harry noticed, the hat shouted out the House at once, but at others it took a little while to decide. "Finnigan, Seamus," the sandy-haired boy next to Harry in the line, sat on the stool for almost a whole minute before the hat declared him a Gryffindor.
"Hermione Granger!"
Hermione almost ran to the stool and jammed the hat eagerly on her head.
"GRYFFINDOR!" shouted the hat. Ron groaned.
"What's wrong with you?" asked Harry.
"I don't wanna be in the same house with a know-it-all." said Ron...
A horrible thought struck Harry, as horrible thoughts always do when you're very nervous.
"Neville Longbottom!"
When Neville, the boy who kept losing his toad, was called, he fell over on his way to the stool. The hat took a long time to decide with Neville. When it finally shouted "GRYFFINDOR!" Neville ran off still wearing it, and had to jog back amid gales of laughter to give it to "Morag McDougal."
"RAVENCLAW!" said the hat, as the young girl had gotten off the stool, handed McGonagall the hat and walked over the Ravenclaw table.
Draco Malfoy swaggered forward when his name was called and got his wish at once: the hat had barely touched his head when it screamed, "SLYTHERIN!"
Malfoy went to join his friends Crabbe and Goyle, looking pleased with himself.
There weren't many people left now.
"Moon...", "Nott...", " Parkinson..." then a pair of twin girls, "Parvati Patil" and "Padma Patil" then "Sally-Anne Perks" and then, at last-
"Harry Potter!"
As Harry stepped forward, whispers suddenly broke out like little hissing fires all over the hall.
"Potter, did she say?"
"The Harry Potter?"
The last thing Harry saw before the hat dropped over his eyes was the hall full of people craning to get a good look at him. Next second he was looking at the black inside of the hat. He waited.
"Hmm." said a small voice in his ear. "Difficult. Very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind either. There's talent, oh my goodness, yes- and a nice thirst to prove yourself, now that's interesting... So where should I put you?"
Harry gripped the edges of the stool and thought, "Not Slytherin, not Slytherin."
"Not Slytherin, eh?" said the small voice. "Are you sure? you could be great, you know, it's all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that- no? Well, if you're sure- better be HUFFLEPUFF!"
"What? Hufflepuff?" said Dumbledore.
The sorting hat turned toward Dumbledore. "Is there a problem, headmaster?"
"No, not a problem." said Dumbledore.
Harry heard the hat shout the last word to the whole hall. He took off the hat and walked shakily toward the Hufflepuff table. He was relieved to have been chosen and not put in Slytherin, he hardly noticed that he was getting the loudest cheer yet.
Susan got out of her seat, walked over to Harry and gave him a big hug. "Welcome to Hufflepuff, my love." she thought.
"Glad to be with you in Hufflepuff, Susie." thought Harry, as he kissed her cheek.
Next McGonagall called out "Ronald Weasley!"
Ron walked up to the stool, sat down, put the Sorting hat on his head and waited.
"Ha! another weasley, I know just what to do with you... GRYFFINDOR!"
Ron jumped down, went to the Gryffindor table and sat down.
Later that night, The prefects led the first years of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw in different directions Harry and Susan were led to a thing of Barrels as the prefect knocked on them in the name of Helga Hufflepuff. walking through, the first years start to get amazed of the Hufflepuff common room, (think of the Hufflepuff Common Room as it is in Hogwarts Legacy).
"Girls upstairs, Boys over there." said Poppy Sweeting.
Harry followed the other male first years into a barrel, while Susan and Hannah were led into a barrel upstairs.
"This is brilliant." thought Harry.
as the night went on, Harry had a strange dream. He was wearing Professor Quirrell's turban, which kept talking to him, telling him he must transfer to Slytherin at once, because it was his destiny. Harry told the turban he didn't want to be in Slytherin; it got heavier and heavier; he tried to pull it off but it tightened painfully- and there was Malfoy, laughing at him as he struggled with it- then Malfoy turned into the hook-nosed teacher, Snape, whose laugh became high and cold- there was a burst of green light and Harry woke, sweating and shaking. He rolled over and fell asleep again, he didn't know that the portait of Helga Hufflepuff was watching him turn over.
Susan felt a huge pile of stress coming from Harry, so she got out of bed, walked out of the girls dorm, and walked down to the common room to feel the stress get stronger then before, so she sat down on the sofa and waited for him to calm down. she was finally able to reach him; "Harry, come out here with me, please?"
Harry came out of the boy's dorm and sat down with Susan on the sofa.
The burrow was empty as a ten year old Ginny walked out of the loo to go into her bedroom. as she closed the door, she noticed that she had a visitor. she turned around to see a boy waiting for her. "Oh, hey, i was wondering when you'd be here." she whispered, as she walked to the boy sitting on her bed.
"hey, what did you want me to teach you?" asked the boy.
"i want you to teach me everything." said Ginny. "I'm actually glad that i'm naked, maybe you can teach me some moves."
The boy dropped his briefs and let his penis hang out, and said. "Come lay your head on the pillow, and spread your legs."
Ginny lay down on the bed, spread her legs and rubbed her clitoris. as the boy scooted over, bent down and licked her pussy.
"Oh yes! that feels so good!" she moaned, the boy stopped licking and moved up her body kissing all the way up to her neck. "Oh, that felt amazing. what else can you do?"
"can't show you too much, but if you use a wand it will be easy." said the boy.
as Ginny was starting to go down on him, she woke up feeling wet between her legs... "Oh it was just a dream. Merlin, it felt good though." she thought.
