WWF Over the Edge: In Your House was live at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The first match on the card was for the WWF Tag Team Championship as the Bladewolf and Kane defend their titles against D'Lo Brown and Mark Henry.
In the arena, the lights then went out, followed by Kane's theme playing.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
Fire explodes on the stage as Kane's theme is replaced by The Devil's Wolf, the lights dimming to the sinister blood red and dark blue as the Bladewolf and Kane walk out together and start making their way towards the ring. Kane had his Tag Team title over his shoulder, while Bladewolf had his around his waist.
"The following Tag-team contest scheduled for one-fall is for the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Championship! Making their way to the ring, at a combined weight of 636 lbs, they are the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions, the Brothers of Destruction... KANE & THE BLADEWOLF!" Howard Finkel announced.
Kane and the Bladewolf reach the end of the ramp and climb onto the ring apron together. They step over the top rope and Bladewolf removes his coat and metallic mask, revealing the wolf one underneath, while Kane walks to the center of the ring and begins raising his arms. He throws them down, causing fire to spew from the turnbuckles as the lights return to normal.
They hand their Tag Team Championship belts to the referee as D'Lo Brown's theme hits and he and Mark Henry comes out to make their way to the ring. "And the challengers. Accompanied by Ivory, at a combined weight of 668 pounds, D-Lo Brown and 'Sexual Chocolate' Mark Henry!" Howard Finkel announced before leaving the ring.
Once they are in the ring, the referee holds up the titles to signal that they are on the line tonight, then hands them to someone at ringside before calling for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Bladewolf starts the match off with D'Lo Brown.
Brown places Bladewolf in a side headlock that the Demon Wolf breaks by Irish whipping him into the ropes. D-Lo hits the shoulder tackle and runs into the ropes, leaping over Bladewolf when he falls to his stomach, dodges the big boot and executes another shoulder tackle that knocks Bladewolf off his feet. Brown places him in another side headlock and prevents him from pushing him into the ropes by pulling back and uses his black hair to place Bladewolf in the side headlock again.
Bladewolf elbows D-Lo in the gut to break free and wrestles his way out and counters with the hip toss. D-Lo Brown uses power attacks to keep Bladewolf from mustering a counterattack and Irish whips him into the ropes before putting Bladewolf in a sleeper hold.
However, the Demon Wolf executes the belly to back suplex to get free. Quickly returning to his feet, Bladewolf delivers nasty right hands then bounces Brown's head off the turnbuckle pad and stomps on his face. He backs up for a running splash but uses the ropes to stop his advance when the opponent slides out of the ring.
D-Lo re-enters the ring and tags Mark Henry. The former grins at Bladewolf doing the "I'll break you in half" gesture, Bladewolf on the other hand turns his head to see Kane giving him the look of wanting to face Mark Henry. Bladewolf obliges, tagging in his brother.
Kane steps over the top rope and first kicks Mark Henry in the gut before following it with uppercuts that send the former Olympian teetering on his feet. Pinning the 400 pounder in the corner, Kane punches and kicks him and chokes him to the count of 4.
Mark Henry uses his raw strength to reverse the Irish whip into the opposing turnbuckle and follows him in for a splash, driving all of his weight on Kane. The Big Red Machine takes everything his opponent can dish out. Mark Henry Irish whips Kane into the opposing turnbuckle and when Kane bounces off he lifts the 7 footer over his head in a military press before dropping him unceremoniously.
Kane automatically recovers and eyes his prey and clotheslines the big man after Mark Henry turns around. He does a series of these and hits the uppercut before having the Irish whip reversed. He ducks the clothesline and counters via drop kick, chaining it with a leg drop.
Kane fixes his glove in preparation for his chokeslam finisher when Mark Henry panics, tagging D-Lo Brown. He clearly doesn't want to be on the receiving end of that. D-Lo Brown looks at his tag-team partner wondering what why he did. Despite a brief argument, D-Lo takes his shot at the red over black clad masked demon standing before him. He throws punches but Kane doesn't budge.
Blocking the right hand, Kane unleashes his attacks on the foolish young man before Irish whipping him. He lowers his head and D-Lo uses his own momentum to flip over Kane. The 326 pounder misses the right hand but connects a big boot. D-Lo recovers after having almost be decapitated by that vicious big boot. He wearily raises his head until he locks eyes with Kane.
The masked demon wraps both hands around D-Lo Brown's throat and lifts him in the air to bring him over to his partner's corner. He hammers away then tags his brother. Bladewolf enters the ring and kicks Brown in the face before he sends him to the ropes.
After scoring a powerslam, Bladewolf attacks Mark Henry who lands on his feet at ringside. A thumb to the eye allows D-Lo to regain control and Irish whips Bladewolf to the turnbuckle, feigning a hurt knee to referee Tim White. This allows Mark Henry to pull Bladewolf's feet out from under him and pulls him back toward the ring post.
Brown pulls Bladewolf in by the hair and body slams the 310 pounder. He does theatrics before hitting a leg drop. Mark Henry gets the tag and D-Lo holds Bladewolf for him to land a powerful right hand that sends Bladewolf flying back like he was a rag doll. He pins Bladewolf in the corner and drives a forearm across his back. He body slams him and drops a big leg on his chest.
He body slams Bladewolf a second time and the Demon Wolf rolls away to avoid being flatten like a pancake from Mark Henry's running splash.
Kane extends his hand but D-Lo gets the tag and runs at him, striking the Big Red Machine. Angered, Kane attempts to make him pay but Tim White prevents him from doing so. D-Lo Brown tosses Bladewolf out of the ring and despite Tim White's efforts, Kane attacks D-Lo.
The referee tries to restore order but Kane glares at him. Outside the ring, Mark Henry drops Bladewolf on the security barricade and rolls him back in. D-Lo goes for the cover! ONE! TWO-! BLadewolf kicks out at two!.
Brown places the Demon Wolf in a headlock, but Bladewolf battles to his feet slamming his elbow into Brown's gut and Irish whips him to the neighbouring turnbuckle and follows his opponent in but D-Lo stops him with an elbow to the temple. Next he nails a running sitout powerbomb, he goes for the cover but Kane stops it at 1.
D-Lo Brown climbs the turnbuckle for a corkscrew springboard attack but Bladewolf dodges that bullet, D-Lo Brown's ass hits the mat. Both combatants crawl towards their corners and... MAKE THE TAG TO THEIR PARTNERS!
Kane unloads on Mark Henry, bouncing his head off the turnbuckle pad and Mark Henry reverses the Irish whip to the opposing turnbuckle. Kane stops him by driving his elbow in the temple, next using raw power he body slams Mark Henry. Whipping around, he catches D-Lo Brown in a tilt-a-whirl slam while Bladewolf runs and... LEAPS OVER THE TOP ROPE ONTO MARK HEN-HENRY CAUGHT HIM IN MID-AIR!
Henry clutches Bladewolf and then... RAMS HIM SPINE-FIRST INTO THE STEEL RING POST!
Back in the ring, Kane Irish whips D-Lo to the turnbuckle and after the man bounces off hits the reverse suplex. After scoring uppercuts, Kane body slams D-Lo and seeks to follow it up when Mark Henry hits him in the back. Turning around he wraps his hand around Henry's throat in preparation to throw him off when Mark Henry snaps Kane's neck off the top rope and D-Lo connects a drop kick. Brown hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! THR-! Kane kicks out at two, tossing Brown out of the ring and sits up!
D-Lo and Mark Henry double-team the Bladewolf when suddenly...KANE JUMPS OFF THE TOP ROPE AND ONTO ALL THREE OF THEM! Returning to the ring, Kane climbs the turnbuckle again and... HITS A FLYING CLOTHESLINE ON MARK HENRY!
Kane goes for the cover! ONE! TWO-! D-Lo stops the count at two! Kane withstands everything his attacker can dish out and retaliates with an uppercut, Bladewolf comes into the ring and grabs D'Lo Brown, scoops him up into a fireman's carry and... HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF!
Mark Henry knocks Kane down with a hard clothesline and hits the running splash on Bladewolf. Kane restores his vertical base and wraps his gloved hand around Mark Henry's throat, lifts him up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
Kane looks at Bladewolf and does the cutthroat sign, earning a nod from Bladewolf goes to the top turnbuckle while Kane scoops Henry up into position, then Bladewolf leaps off... AND THEY HIT A SPIKE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! KANE COVERS HENRY! ONE! TWO! THREE! THE BROTHERS RETAIN THE TITLES!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Burned plays as Kane gets to his feet. "Here are your winners and STILL World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions... KANE & THE BLADEWOLF!" Howard Finkel announced.
After Tim White gives them their titles, Bladewolf gets to a knee and does the Undertaker salute, raising his title. Kane stands behind him, raises his arms before throwing them down which makes fire explode from the turnbuckles. Bladewolf gets to his feet and drapes his title over his shoulder before leaving the ring with Kane, the two making their way to the back.
The next scheduled match was a singles match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship between The Godfather (champion) and the Blue Blazer (Owen Hart). As Hart descended into the ring on a safety harness, the equipment gave way, and he fell. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. The show was halted for 15 minutes before it continued with the next match, a mixed tag team match pitting Val Venis and Nicole Bass against Jeff Jarrett and Debra. At one point, Jarrett attempted to hit Bass with a guitar, but Venis took the guitar away, dropped Jarrett on the mat and pinned him.
In the fourth match of the evening, Billy Gunn defeated his former tag team partner Road Dogg, after hitting him with the time keeper's hammer.
The fifth match was the eight-man elimination tag-team match between The Union (Big Show, Ken Shamrock, Mankind, and Test) and the Corporate Ministry (Big Boss Man, Bradshaw, Faarooq, and Viscera). Test was eliminated by pinfall after Bradshaw performed a "Clothesline from Hell" on him. Bradshaw was then eliminated by submission as a result of Ken Shamrock's ankle lock. Afterwards, Shamrock was eliminated via disqualification as a result of attacking the referee. Then, Faarooq was eliminated by pinfall after the Big Show chokeslammed him. Only one member of each team remained after Viscera and the Big Show failed to return to the ring within ten seconds and were counted out as a result. The Union won the match after Mankind forced Boss Man to submit with the Mandible claw. It was at this point that the viewers at home were told by Jim Ross that Owen Hart had died.
The final match on the undercard pitted Triple H against The Rock. Triple H targeted The Rock's injured arm. Towards the end of the match, Triple H asked Chyna, his valet, to retrieve a folding chair. The referee, however, took it away from him, which led to an argument between Triple H and the referee; Triple H pushed down the referee, for which he was disqualified, giving The Rock the victory. After the match, Mankind ran in to save The Rock from Triple H and Chyna.
Next up was the main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Undertaker for the WWF Championship.
A promo shows how all of this came about starting with the black wedding, emergence of the Corporate Ministry, Shane revealing himself to being the mastermind behind Stephanie McMahon's abduction and finally Steve Austin cuffing Undertaker to his own TX symbol.
The Corporation theme hits and Shane McMahon walks down the aisle.
Howard Finkel said, "Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, let me introduce the special guest referee. One of the owners of the World Wrestling Federation, Shane McMahon!" The power drunk young man enters the ring. He waits for the contestants to show when he spots Pat Patterson replacing Vince McMahon as the second guest referee. Shane tries to physically get in Patterson's face but changes his mind when Patterson readies his fists.
The slow Ministry theme plays and the Kemper Arena goes dark, moments later the eerie blue light appears.
Howard Finkel announced, "The following contest is for the World Wrestling Federation Championship. Introducing first. The challenger, accompanied by Paul Bearer, from the Corporate Ministry, weighing 328 pounds, the Undertaker!" The Demon of Death Valley approaches the ring wearing the same cape he wore at Wrestlemania 15.
He parts the sides of his cape to walk up the steel steps and slowly bring his arms up, rolling his eyes back to return the lights. Paul Bearer opens the second rope for the Undertaker to step through.
Paul Bearer undoes the buckles to the cape while Undertaker drills holes into Pat Patterson using his eyes. Once the cape's off, the Phenom chokeslams the 58-year old and kicks him out of the ring.
The crowd goes nuts when Stone Cold Steve Austin's music played. He removes his vest then the championship belt and steps through the middle rope to trade shots with the Undertaker, effectively getting the match underway.
The Demon of Death Valley reverses the Irish whip and sends Austin out of the ring via reverse elbow. No matter how many times Stone Cold gets knocked off the apron he persists on getting into the ring. He snaps Undertaker's neck off the top rope and climbs the turnbuckle, nailing the clothesline which is unusual for the Texas Rattlesnake because he normally doesn't do aerial assaults.
He goes for the cover and Undertaker kicks out at 2. Pinning his opponent, Austin aggressively stomps away on Undertaker before stopping for a second to flip Shane McMahon off. He chokes Undertaker to the count of 3 and flips Shane off again, this time it causes him to physically remove Austin. The champion warns Shane. Undertaker whips Austin around and connects a right hand, quickly pinning him in the corner and stomping then chokes him to a rather slow count of 2.
Lifting the WWF Champion up, Undertaker rams his elbow into the temple followed by an uppercut. Austin reverses the Irish whip to the opposing turnbuckle and seeks to nail the Stunner but Undertaker catches the leg and pushes Austin to his back before driving his elbow into his thigh and locking it in a submission hold. Shane asks the champion if he wants to quit and Austin slams his free leg right across the challenger's face until he is released and Stone Cold throws aggressive punches to Undertaker's head.
Standing up he runs into the ropes to do a running elbow that connects to the back of Undertaker's head even as he sat up. Austin drags him over to the bottom rope and places his foot on it, he jumps on it to return the favor. Grabbing both legs he stomps on the mid-section before putting it on the second rope in the corner. He targets the left leg and when Undertaker falls his leg ends up wedged between the ropes, pain rips through his body. Shane frees the foot and Austin presses the attack on his opponent.
The WWF Champion slides out of the ring and drives his elbow across Undertaker's sternum followed by a right hand after the Phenom stands. Austin walks right into an elbow followed by a hard shot to the ribs.
Shane allows them to get at it, obviously in no hurry to count them out.
Austin reverses an Irish whip so that Undertaker's knees end up crashing into the steel steps and slams his foot on them. He rolls the Undertaker back into the ring and pulls his legs out from under him and the WWF Champion continues to attack the leg, locking it between his legs and Shane tries pulling Undertaker toward the ropes but Austin applies more pressure to the affected limb.
His opponent drives his elbow right on the head to force Austin to let go. He attempts to lock in an arm bar counter submission hold but the WWF Champion escapes and straddles his chest to launch piston-like right hands to Undertaker's face. He targets the left leg again, placing it on the second rope and jumps on it before rolling out of the ring.
Paul Bearer gets too close to the Rattlesnake and pays for it with a powerful right hand. However, this allows Undertaker to push the champion into the security barricade. Dropping to his feet at ringside, the Phenom picks Stone Cold up and rams his spine into the ring post. He next slams the braced left knee of Austin on the thinly padded concrete floor. He tosses the Rattlesnake over the barricade and steps over to continue the attack as Stone Cold Steve Austin starts mount an offense before Undertaker knocks him down with an uppercut. Austin blocks a right hand and counters with his own and grabs hold of Undertaker's hand to pull him in but Undertaker avoids the clothesline and retaliates with one of his own.
Undertaker applies a blatant choke and an uppercut sends Austin back flipping to ringside. He then chokes the WWF Champion with cable cord and Shane does a slow 5 count that Undertaker stops at 3. Steve Austin staggers past the special guest referee and uses the steel steps to keep his balance.
Undertaker drives Austin's head into the ring steps twice before removing them and places the Rattlesnake's leg against the ring post and positions the bottom half of the steps near it and kicks, Austin rolls on the floor in agony. Shane warns Undertaker not to do it again.
Undertaker rolls his opponent into the ring and stomps on the braced knee of Stone Cold Steve Austin in the corner.
Now in complete control, Undertaker rolls Austin around using his boot then chokes him again. He uses that same hand to bring the WWF Champion to his feet in preparation for a chokeslam when Austin fights out of it, scoring right hands but the Phenom sends him to his back via uppercut. He next scoops the Rattlesnake up for a Tombstone but Austin escapes and Irish whips Undertaker into the ropes, following him in to knock the challenger out of the ring with a clothesline. However, Undertaker lands on his feet and pulls Austin's feet out from under him, the champion uses pure leg strength to push Undertaker onto the English announce table. Getting out, he bounces the man's head off the table cover and does it again after getting him off. They return to inside of the ring and Stone Cold Irish whips the Demon of Death Valley into the ropes, misses the clothesline and leaps for the Lou Thesz Press but Undertaker blocks it using power and leverage to send Austin to the mat.
Shane had his attention to Undertaker so that Paul Bearer can use his shoe to hit Austin right on the back of the head.
The WWF Champion takes their fight to the top of the aisle, dodging one of his opponent's fist that instead goes through one of the glass stage props and sends him through the one next to it. After that, he bounces Undertaker's skull off the steel girder. He attempts to return to the ring when Undertaker stops them via uppercut to the jaw. He sends the Rattlesnake reeling back to ringside using the same uppercut and the final one sends Austin to his back. By now both men were hurting due to the physicality of the match. Undertaker rolls the champion back in the ring and presses his boot against his throat in the corner. Shane does a slow count, allowing Undertaker to choke as long and as aggressively as he wishes. Austin uses the ropes to pull himself up and performs a low blow then walks over to the neighboring turnbuckle and jumps off the second rope for a diving elbow drop and hooks the leg. Shane initially does the 3 count but stops at 2.
Realizing what happened, Austin gets up and pins Shane in the corner talking trash. Out of the corner of his eye, Austin spots Undertaker holding a steel chair he kicks him in the gut and Irish whips him into Shane, sending both men down. Austin picks up the steel chair and cracks Undertaker right on the skull. He covers him and Gerald Brisco comes running down the aisle wearing referee gear and slides in to do the 3 count but Undertaker gets the shoulder up at near fall. The Phenom reverses an Irish whip and nails the big boot, clotheslining Brisco after that. He stomps him out of the ring and gets thrown into the ropes, avoiding the right hand and does the leaping clothesline before going for the cover.
Vince McMahon limps his way to the ring and enters to assume his role as the second guest referee. He watches as Undertaker and Steve Austin collide into each other, performing the 10 count.
Both men sit up simultaneously at 8. They resume beating the hell out of each other and Austin avoids the right hand then connects the Stunner. He goes for the cover and Vince begins the 3 count when his son prevents him from striking the mat the third time. The male McMahons glare at one another as Stone Cold returns to his feet and whips Vince around, wondering where he's been. Suddenly, Shane shoves Vince into Austin and Undertaker covers him prompting Shane to do a fast count then calls for the bell. The slow Ministry theme plays.
Howard Finkel announced, "The winner of this bout and new World Wrestling Federation Champion, the Undertaker!" Irate of the fact he's been screwed out of the WWF title, Austin stomps away on an exhausted Undertaker.
Shane McMahon, holding the WWF Championship at the aisle, orders the Corporate Ministry to come out.
Unfortunately they aren't spared from Austin's wrath, who delivers the Stunner to the Big Boss Man and Mideon before grabbing the steel chair to hold off the Acolytes. The Corporate Ministry regroup at the aisle where Shane McMahon hands the WWF Championship to Undertaker.
Austin glares at the group.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
The Devil's Wolf played to a loud cheer from the fans as the lights switched to the sinister blood red and dark blue before the Bladewolf walked out, clad in his coat, metallic mask, and holding the black baseball bat.
He stares down the Corporate Ministry, then points the bat directly at his older brother and what he was holding, making it very clear that he will be coming for the WWF Championship. He then throws his arms up and sparks explode from the rafters, showering people with sparks. Next Bladewolf throws his arms back down making fire spew from the concrete directly in front of the Corporate Ministry, who cover their ears from the loud bang. With his message sent, the Bladewolf returns from whence he came.
And that's it for this one. The night the wrestling world lost Owen Hart. RIP Owen.
