Chapter 18
Meanwhile…
Kenjaku was making his plans. He has found it odd that the Toorus are mimicking him at the moment. Staying out of sight and mind as it were… well… except for that ONE Tooru who keeps doing patrols around the city.
He made a vow with himself to kill any sorcerer who ever has a technique involving comedy!
Still, he found it strange, that not even Sukuna is searching for him. Worst still, he has yet to see his new shell out in public. "Do they know I am after him? I wonder…" he muttered to himself. He keeps himself hidden in the finest hotels, after all, he knows better than to stay in one place too long. But this in itself is boring to him. He knows the thrill of the chase and the hunt.
However he severely lacks the allies.
Curses aren't as strong and therefore cannot be used by him like the others he encountered. The council has been destroyed, those who remain rather plan their own strikes than to work with him. After all, he controlled the last council and look what became of them! He wasn't trusted among sorcerers… not that he was to begin with.
"The alchemist have been slowly withering down in numbers. The dragon slayers have stopped coming all together, Sukuna's cult remains and yet…" he paused to this, perhaps there is one that he can turn to, but it's risky. After all, the last time they trusted him, he failed to deliver his promise.
"I suppose I should speak to them on the matter. But do they know Sukuna is still alive?" he wondered.
After all, Uraume isn't one to give chances. He blew it once with them and therefore, he is considered worthless to them.
Still, if they have yet to progress in their own journey, then perhaps there is a chance.
"Luckily I know where they like to stay…"
#
"You again…"
They sneered at him with disgust. "I told you the last time, I am not going to assist you again for the failure to bring back my master!"
Kenjaku only smiled to them. "And yet you are still without your master. You are aware he is alive aren't you?"
Uraume glared at him. "I am more than aware, but I have yet to reach him. Let alone see my master…"
"Then perhaps we can be of assistance to each other. In fact, let me try again…"
"You are out of chances with me!"
Kenjaku only smiled to them. "Am I? Have you made ANY progress since our last encounter? You must have known about that sudden energy spike a long time back at the new school, correct? In fact, some of Sukuna's legions went to see first hand… none have returned"
There was a glare in their eyes, however, they spoke nothing back to him until a defeated sigh was heard. "I was certain it was the master, but they lacked control over such energy. If it were him, there would have been no school or students to speak of."
"My point exactly, so, something must have happened to him… or what if he can remember now? His life from when he lived among the Toorus?"
Suddenly, they froze.
"That's impossible!"
"It's possible, since I saw it once first hand. I attacked him with a curse to make him regress and recall his past, instead of being a battle crazed sorcerer… he appeared to more sound of mind. It's not impossible for him to recall his true past, which puts us at a disadvantage as well. He won't acknowledge you or allow you to serve him anymore… after all, what if he remembers the first meal you made for him?" Kenjaku asked.
Uraume appeared startled and worried now.
"What could have caused the master to go soft like that?"
Kenjaku had no other choice but to reveal. "His wife from the past has returned… you saw her, he never harmed her after our last attempt. Instead, Sukuna has been protecting her with his life… how do you think Japan is still standing now?" he asked.
Uraume shuttered at the notion. Chusi Tooru is a force to be wrecked with, all who have got up against her… didn't survive in battles to the death. However Uraume must be aware too, the only reason why they got the jump on her the last time was because she was pregnant. One of the flaws a Tooru has when it comes to children, they lose their curse energy as long as they are carrying a child within them.
"I wonder though if the reason why he has yet to be seen, is because something is happening to his wife as we speak… I don't doubt for a moment that Sukuna may have… rekindled his love for her and as such… perhaps there is a heir to defend…"
The look on Uraume's face was worth the trek in coming here.
"An… heir?" they whispered.
It would be possible wouldn't it? Not even Sukuna is vein enough to believe he would live forever, would he dare to have a child to inherit his power? It was worth looking into, since after all. If he did have a child with a Tooru, that child now surpasses him in power.
"If I do recall correctly, at that new school that has taken in students no matter the talent… there is one personally being trained by the principal. He has a very strong resemblance to Sukuna if you look into his face…"
They waivered.
He knows Uraume well enough that they want to serve Sukuna, mind, body and soul. However if they cannot serve him directly, it wouldn't hurt to serve the bloodline. If they can turn his son against him and the clan… the more the thinks about it, the better the idea becomes in his mind. Yes, but to verify that it is true. Kenjaku knows it would be a risk to reveal himself, at the same time, why do so when he can trigger the curious mind of a devoted follower to Sukuna?
"Do you think the deed has already occurred?" Uraume asked.
Kenjaku ho humed the notion. "I personally haven't looked into it myself, BUT, if I were to guess… I would assume he would make up for lost time to the woman he loved, wouldn't he?"
He preyed on their curious and yet cautious nature. Uraume appeared to be considering their options. "Prove it," they decreed. "Prove to me that he has, and I will assist you. If not, then be prepared to die at my hands"
"Gladly accepted!" Kenjaku said with a smile on his face. "I happen to know where this one goes, if anything, go to this school and see for yourself, but, I suggest you find a way to hide your appearance."
