WWF King of the Ring was live at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina. After the second King of the Ring semi-final match had passed, which was X-Pac against Road Dogg, the time for the WWF Championship match had finally arrived.
In the arena, the Undertaker's Slow Ministry theme hit and out came the Phenom with Paul Bearer. "The following contest scheduled for one-fall is for the World Wrestling Federation Championship! Introducing first, the challenger. Accompanied by Paul Bearer, representing the Corporate Ministry, weighing 328 lbs... THE UNDERTAKER!" Howard Finkel announced.
The Undertaker reaches the ring and makes his way up the steps, raising the lights back to normal before he steps inside the ring and his theme soon dies down.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
The Devil's Wolf played to a loud cheer from the fans as the lights switched to the sinister blood red and dark blue before the Bladewolf walked out, the WWF Championship around his waist and his WWF Tag Team title on his right shoulder, making his way towards the ring with purpose.
"And his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing 310 lbs, he is one half of the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions and the World Wrestling Federation Champion... THE BLADEWOLF!" Howard Finkel announced.
Making his way down the ramp, Bladewolf grabs the top rope and pulls himself up onto the ring apron before stepping foot over the top rope. He reaches up and pushes his hood down before taking off his metallic mask, revealing the wolf mask underneath with the eyeholes shrouded in total darkness.
Bladewolf's theme dies down and the lights return to normal as he takes off his coat and dumps it outside the ring for a stagehand to grab. He hands his WWF Championship to the referee while giving the Tag Team title to someone at ringside.
Referee Earl Hebner holds up the WWF Title, showing that it's on the line tonight, then hands it to the timekeeper before calling for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Right away, the brothers go right at it with each other. There was too much animosity and hostility for them to be cordial. They wanted to hurt each other. For Undertaker, this was about getting the WWF Title back. For Bladewolf, this was for everything that has happened since Undertaker's betrayal at Judgment Day 1998 and admitting he set the fire that killed their parents, disfigured Kane and orphaned Bladewolf.
The brothers have a back and forth exchange of right fists between them, neither gaining any ground just now until Undertaker throws in some lefts and then mixes it with the rights which backs Bladewolf into the corner and the Undertaker unleashes a ruthless assault of lefts and rights on his little brother, forcing him to cover up. Undertaker stops momentarily to glare at Hebner, but Bladewolf reverses their positions and throws a barrage of lefts and rights, now forcing his big brother to cover up from the assault.
Bladewolf Irish whips his brother into the ropes and hits the big boot that Undertaker quickly sits up from. However, Bladewolf refuses to let Undertaker restore his vertical base so he straddles him and pounds his fist on his face with loud thuds. This continued until the WWF Champion rolls them over and returns the favor.
Filled with hunger for revenge, Bladewolf grabs his brother's neck and gets to his feet. He pushes Undertaker out of the ring and steps out to follow, taking their fight to ringside. Undertaker reverses the Irish whip and Bladewolf... CRASHES KNEEs-FIRST INTO THE STEEL STEPS SO HARD HE FLIPPED RIGHT OVER THEM!
Despite the pain in his legs, Bladewolf gets up, limping slightly but shakes it off before he sprints, uses the steel steps to leap off... AND HITS A FLYING CLOTHESLINE ON THE UNDERTAKER!
"Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!" The crowd chanted, very much enjoying this match so far.
Bladewolf gets to his feet and grabs his brother by the back of his head... THEN RAMS IT OFF THE ANNOUNCE TABLE HARD! But Bladewolf doesn't stop there as he grabs his brother by the head... AND STARTS REPEATEDLY BASHING HIS HEAD OFF THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!
However, Undertaker blocks the next one and jabs his elbow into Bladewolf's midsection, allowing him to grab his brother... AND BOUNCE HIS HEAD OFF THE ANNOUNCE TABLE! Undertaker grabs him again... AND STARTS REPEATEDLY SLAMMING HIS HEAD OFF THE ANNOUNCE TABLE !With a yell, he smashes Bladewolf's masked face off the table so hard that it made Bladewolf wobble back.
Undertaker rolled into the ring then back out to break the referee's count, and walked over to Bladewolf who recovered and drives his knee into his brother's midsection. Bladewolf brings his forearm down on his brother's back repeatedly, sending Undertaker to his knees before Bladewolf pulls him up, wraps his arms around him and then... DRIVES HIM KIDNEY-FIRST INTO THE RING APRON!
Undertaker threw his head back with a pained yell before Bladewolf jabs him with a right, then tosses him back into the ring and slides in after him. Undertaker stumbles to his feet and turns... INTO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf lifts his brother up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM! HE GOES FOR THE COVER! ONE! TWO! THRE-! PAUL BEARER PULLS THE REFEREE OUT OF THE RING AND KNOCKS HIM OUT!
Bladewolf snaps his gaze towards Paul Bearer whose eyes widened as Bladewolf rolls out of the ring to confront the fat man, who is begging and pleading for his life now. Bladewolf grabs Bearer and... KNOCKS HIM DOWN WITH A RIGHT HAND!
Bladewolf glares down at Bearer before sliding back into the ring and goes after his brother, who is leaning on the ropes. The Bladewolf lands punch after punch before Irish whipping him to the ropes, Undertaker avoids the clothesline and whips around to grab his brother's neck, lifts him up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM! Folding the arms across the challenger's chest, he watched referee Mike Chioda run down the ramp, slide into the ring and make the count! ONE! TWO! THR-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT!
The referee backs up from the glare he is receiving by the Deadman and Bladewolf gets up before being knocked down again by a hard right hand. Undertaker sends Bladewolf to the ropes and lowers his head but Bladewolf counters with a kick followed by a clothesline. Keeping the pressure up, he scores right hands before sending Undertaker over the top rope but the Phenom lands on his feet and starts walking up the aisle. Bladewolf follows him and turns him around to land right hands as they near the entrance.
Referee Mike Chioda is pretty much letting them go at it.
Bladewolf bounces Undertaker's skull off the steel railing and Undertaker reverses the Irish whip to the security barricade behind them, wrapping his hand around Rock's throat after the WWF Champion rebounds. Bladewolf... NAILS A LOW BLOW TO ESCAPE! He seeks to follow it up but Undertaker retaliates with a clothesline.
Picking the man up by the hair, Undertaker's fist connects with the WWF Champion's head. Bladewolf blocks a right hand and counters with a right hand and presses the assault, bringing them to the other side of the aisle. Bouncing the challenger's head off the guard rail, Bladewolf scores a hit on the man's skull and Undertaker reverses an Irish whip sending Bladewolf... CRASHING INTO THE GUARD RAILING NEXT TO THE BARRICADE!
Undertaker chokes him to the count of 4 and pulls the man up, launching his fist into Bladewolf's skull that made the champion lay on the guard railing leaning against the security barricade.
The Undertaker lands a couple more blows and starts guiding them towards the aisle and then Bladewolf starts throwing right hands and kicks, next he looks for the snapmare but Undertaker blocks and counters with his own driving Bladewolf's spine on the concrete floor. After smashing The Bladewolf's head off the steel steps, Undertaker rolls him into the ring.
He ruthlessly stomps on his younger brother then goes for the cover! ONE! TWO! THR-! Bladewolf kicks out at two.
Refusing to let his opponent have a chance to recover Undertaker places his boot on his brother's head to the count of 4. He twists the younger man's arm before viciously pulling on him almost to the point of ripping the arm out of its socket. Twisting the arm again, the Deadman walks to the neighboring turnbuckle behind him and climbs. He's about to jump off the top rope for Old School but Bladewolf pulls his arm... AND UNDERTAKER LANDS GROIN FIRST ON THE ROPES!
Undertaker was in pure agony after that.
Straightening up to glare at his brother, Bladewolf lands a big right hand that sends the Undertaker down and out of the ring. Rolling out after his brother, Bladewolf clotheslines Undertaker over the security barricade, tossing a chair over to ringside before stepping over the barricade. After a little slug fest near the benches on the second row, they resume their fight at ringside once again.
Bladewolf slams the opponent's head off the steel steps and ring bell. He grabs a steel chair to add more damage but Undertaker... SMACKS THE RING BELL INTO THE CHAIR WHICH HITS BLADEWOLF'S MASKED FACE! Undertaker tosses the ring bell aside.
Restoring his vertical base, he places the younger man on the apron, leaving his torso exposed. He next drives the elbow into the throat of his WWF Champion followed by choking him with it to the count of 4 and grabs referee Mike Chioda's attention so that Paul Bearer... CAN HIT BLADEWOLF WITH HIS SHOE! An evil laughter escapes the fat man's throat.
Bladewolf wobbles as he gets to his feet inside the ring and Undertaker knocks him down. He pins Bladewolf in the corner and throws right hands until Bladewolf starts fighting his way out of the turnbuckle then Irish whips him into the ropes, lowering his head for possibly a back body drop but the Undertaker changes it into... A BRUTAL DDT! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT!
Frustration starting to set in, Undertaker locks in a headlock but Bladewolf refuses to stay down, battling to his feet and starts another counterattack, throwing right hands and runs into the ropes for a follow-up and Undertaker nails the big boot. He covers the challenger and Bladewolf gets the shoulder up at 2. Undertaker sticks to the elementary strategy of grounding the his brother.
Referee Mike Chioda lifts the Champion's arm the first time, he gets no response. Lifting the arm a second time and gets no response. On the third attempt, Bladewolf shows signs of life quickly returning to his feet and quickly escapes the hold to launch an attack on his big brother.
He reverses the Irish whip, looks for the clothesline and finds himself in a waistlock, throwing his arm wildly to make Undertaker release the hold and Irish whips him into the ropes again and... NAILS THE SPEAR! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! UNDERTAKER KICKS OUT!.
Landing a few hits, Bladewolf sends the Deadman into the ropes, misses the right hand and both men collide in mid-air via double clothesline. The brothers then sit up in sync and glare at each other before getting to their feet. Bladewolf thwarts the Undertaker's attack and beats him down to the bottom rope of the opposing turnbuckle, momentarily stopping his assault to glare at Mike Chioda.
Undertaker does a thumb to the eye followed by the Irish whip to the neighboring turnbuckle, scooping his opponent up after he bounces off it, looking for the Tombstone! Bladewolf fights out of it with elbows to his brother's face, then grabs him around the head... AND NAILS THE DDT! BLADEWOLF HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THRE-! UNDERTAKER KICKS OUT AGAIN!
Pulled to his feet, Undertaker reverses the Irish whip to the opposing turnbuckle and Mike Chioda ends up getting caught in the crossfire. Bladewolf ducks a right from Undertaker, scoops him up onto his shoulders in a fireman's carry... AND HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! BUT THERE'S NO REFEREE! THE REFEREE IS DOWN!
Bladewolf walks over to the referee and tries to shake him awake... BIT THE UNDERTAKER NAILS A LOW BLOW! Paul Bearer stands on the ring apron pouring ether on a rag before handing it to the Phenom. Bladewolf gets up and clotheslines the man off his feet, knocking the rag out of his grip. Eying the rag he picks it up and... PLACES IT OVER THE UNDERTAKER'S FACE! The Phenom involuntarily inhales the ether. The effect is immediate as the Phenom falls to one knee then his back.
Suddenly, Triple H runs down and into the ring. He grabs Bladewolf, kicks him in the stomach, hooks the legs and... NAILS THE PEDIGREE! He scatters from the ring as the referee regains consciousness.
The official starts using the 10 count and Undertaker places the arm on the opponent's chest! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT! Shaking his head, Undertaker, with glossy eyes, scoops Bladewolf up onto his shoulder and... LANDS THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! He folds his arms over his chest for the cover! ONE! TWO! THREE! WE HAVE A NEW WWF CHAMPION!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Undertaker's theme plays as the Deadman rolls onto his back, exhausted. "Here is your winner and NEW World Wrestling Federation Champion... THE UNDERTAKER!" Howard Finkel announced.
Undertaker sits up and takes the WWF Championship from the referee before rolling out of the ring, making his way up the ramp as Bladewolf slowly sits up and glares in his direction.
This was not over by a long shot. The Bladewolf was far from done in his pursuit for the WWF Title.
And that's it for this one, folks. And jesus, seventy chapters in? I'll probably reach WrestleMania 16 by chapter 150 or something, though I hope not.
