EXT. COUNTRYSIDE - DAY
The scene opens to lush plains, river valleys and dense forests in the countryside. A whirlwind is heard in the sky as a red biplane comes into view. The plane lowers altitude and lands on a flat bed of grass on the plains of the country. Sonic Hill takes off his pilot goggles and climbs out the cockpit. His hair is no longer in his usual quills. He shakes his head and they reform. The teenage boy grabs a large bag from the back and begins sifting though his supplies. He pulls out an analog camera and takes pictures of the landscape.
SONIC
Northstar is way cooler than South
Island. This place rocks compared
to Green Hill. So glad mom and dad
still trust me after what happened
four months ago. Dad was nice
enough to let me borrow the Tornado
go see Little Planet. It doesn't
appear often so I'll be able to be
one of the few to see it this year.
I hate that I'll have the coolest
weekend ever and than I have to go
back to school. School's also been
crazy. How many kids get to say
they're the most popular while also
being some random dork? At least it
worked out with me and Sally.
Summer was rough but we got back
together in September. Hopefully no
one will find the Emerald while I'm
gone. I think that's enough
pictures here.
Sonic puts the camera down and throws his bag of supplies back. He takes off across the landscape feeling the wind in his hair as Even Flow by Pearl Jam plays in the background. Sonic darts over the plains, through the trees and across the valley at his unique pace. He stops close to a mountain where he finds Little Planet hovering over Never Lake.
SONIC (CONT'D)
No way! There's only one man who
has the power and ego to do this.
The planetoid is attached by a massive chain to the base of the mountain. Sonic dashes and makes a spiral up to the top and stands there.
SONIC (CONT'D)
I knew this day was going to happen
eventually. I have to
confront Robotnik once
more. This time, it's on his terf.
He leans forward into his hedgehog ball and rolls down a ramp on the mountainside. The momentum launches Sonic through the air over the water. The gravity of Little Planet starts to pull him in towards the surface. The background music fades.
EXT. TROPICAL CANYON - CONTINUOUS
SONIC
Man, and I wanted to enjoy my
vacation.
The gravity pulls him to the surface and Sonic bounces off a palm tree for safety. He lands on his feet.
SONIC (CONT'D)
No wonder so many people want to go
to Little Planet when it appears.
This place is awesome.
Sonic takes off and dashes through the lush green landscape. Palm trees are common along with hills and occasional waterfalls. Sonic stops on a hill and looks up to a sky of water.
SONIC (CONT'D)
Hey is that Never Lake
That's so cool!
He moves to find in another section that the Empire's badniks are roaming the area.
SONIC (CONT'D)
Just as I thought. Egghead's trying
to take this place for himself.
He runs to find a large piece of machinery on top of a hill.
SONIC (CONT'D)
I am so going to trash this thing!
Sonic throws every attack he has at it including punches, kicks and jumping. He grabs two damaged edges and tries to rip it apart.
SONIC (CONT'D)
Man, this things tough! I'll see if
I can find another way. First, I'm
coming after you guys!
He jumps down and starts attacking the badniks. A ladybug badnik charges at him first.
SONIC (CONT'D)
I remember you guys! I don't know
if Eggman named you guys yet so
I'll call you Motobug.
He smashes it into the ground as he jumps over it. A wasp badnik fires shots at him.
SONIC (CONT'D)
Listen Buzzy, you're a dimwit for
thinking you can hit me.
He jumps on top of it and steers it to crash into the ground. A crab badnik walks up behind him but Sonic flips over it.
SONIC (CONT'D)
Hey Crabmeat, you walk so loud you
can't even surprise me like that.
He grabs the robot's arms and rips them off. He picks up the rest of it and throws it at the machine. He does the same with the other two broken robots. A chameleon badnik appears and Sonic does the same.
SONIC (CONT'D)
I thought of a good one, Newtron.
Too bad you won't be able to hear
it.
He turns around and Robotnik is floating there in his mobile.
SONIC (CONT'D)
You must be the Eggman I presume?
DR. ROBOTNIK
You little shit! How do you keep
finding me!
SONIC
Listen Egghead, You're lucky people
only saw me kick your butt one
time. You might as well give up
now.
DR. ROBOTNIK
Good thing you say that. I prepared
something just in case you came.
A capsule like the ones that attacked Starlight falls from the sky. It opens up and a larger mechanoid powers on.
DR. ROBOTNIK (CONT'D)
I'll leave you two for your
playdate. I have more land to
teraform if you don't mind.
The Doctor flies away.
SONIC
I hate it when he cracks jokes as
good as mine! Well I guess it's
just you and me now.
Sonic tries to land a hit but the mech hits him in the chest
with it's bumpers for hands sending him back.
SONIC (CONT'D)
I guess I gotta try a different
tactic.
He tries to jump on top but it hits him back again.
SONIC (CONT'D)
What kind of sick humor does this
guy have for making me fight a damn
pinball machine?
Sonic finds an opening and dives through its legs. He gives strong hits from behind. The robot turns around but falls forward from the damage. Sonic stops it from falling and throws it over his head into the machinery finally destroying them both.
SONIC (CONT'D)
C'mon! You guys could at least put
up a fight. I'm not even rusty
after a few while.
He runs off leaving the lush canyon behind.
INT. SECRET BASE - DAY
Robotnik is sitting at a large computer watching several security cameras all across Little Planet. On some of the screens Sonic is seen as a blur destroying badniks in his path.
DR. ROBOTNIK
I don't get it. All I want is to
have my world domination in peace.
But this blue porcupine keeps
finding me! A child no less.
In the solid white room two robots are in the background. Each have three main body sections. One is red and spherical. The other is yellow and cubical. Both robots are at their own table playing cards.
ORBOT
What exactly makes Blue so annoying
boss?
DR. ROBOTNIK
He's fast, a stupid child, an
annoying joker and he's somehow
able to beat me!
CUBOT
Well, if the rodent's fast, why
don't you just break his legs?
DR. ROBOTNIK
That's a great idea Cubot. Except
for the fact that it's stupid! That
would never work.
ORBOT
Well why not? Chances are you'll
encounter Blue again.
DR. ROBOTNIK
By the time I get to break his legs
I'll alreeady have him dead by that
point. What are you doing?!
The Doctor's attention shifts back to the screen as Sonic is seen trying to destroy a similar piece of machinery.
DR. ROBOTNIK (CONT'D)
My precious generators! He has no
idea what they even do and he's
trying to blow it up!
ORBOT
Why would he destroy it?
DR. ROBOTNIK
He knows it belongs to me. It makes
him happy dismantling my work
because he thinks he's making a
dent in my army.
CUBOT
What do the generators even do?
DR. ROBOTNIK
They help keep the planet in check.
Without them there is no power
keeping Little Planet chained to
Mobius.
CUBOT
Is their destruction a bad thing?
DR. ROBOTNIK
Of course it is you dimwit! Without
them this planet isn't mine. And
it's all because of the needle
mouse. Besides, he has to destroy
all of them anyway. I'll tear him
apart before he can get to the one
in here.
Cubot throws his cards on the table in triumph.
CUBOT
Go fish! I win!
The robot dances around the room in joy.
ORBOT
Oh dear. It seems Cubot forgot we
were playing Poker.
The Doctor looks in disappointment at his personal servants.
DR. ROBOTNIK
Why did I even program them that
way?
He glues his eyes back to the screen.
DR. ROBOTNIK (CONT'D)
His efforts won't matter this time.
I have plenty of accommodations set
up just for him. In case he ever
decided to stick his nose in my
plans again. He won't be leaving
any time soon.
Robotnik gets up and starts to leave.
DR. ROBOTNIK (CONT'D)
Both of you! Get my ride ready. I'm
going back out.
ORBOT
What's the plan boss?
DR. ROBOTNIK
I'll see if everything is set up
right. Then he's done for this
time.
