Twine strings crisscross between my fingers forming a shoddy web, the corners of my mouth turning upwards as another piece of twine is added.

The entire thing disperses into motes of light that quickly fade as I force it to disappear.

I can make my creations disappear faster than normal if I want.

For Dynamic Maker magic, I'd merely be forced to stop supplying mana. But for Static? That took a little effort as the temporary variants want to linger for a while. Typically, longer the more energy you put into the spell. So 'ice cube' might last a couple of minutes, but 'Giga Death Anvil of doom' would probably last a day or so.

As for my studies...

Dynamic maker magic is fucking difficult. I can sort of understand why Gray never learned it...

Still think he's lazy as fuck, for not powering through it, though.

Also I'm mainly hostile towards him because of how much he abuses the Juuv in the anime and manga.

It's like he doesn't care about her at all.

Leaving a girl with crippling abandonment issues alone in a deserted town for a fucking year. Slowly growing sicker and sicker as she waits in the rain, pleading for the person she thought loved her to return home.

I shake my head. 'Don't dwell on that. Focus on ropemake. You know you're too scared of women to try and change that.'

I've made some progress.

Twine-Make should eventually become rope make.

The hard part for 'rope make' is creating a bunch of individual 'twine make' spells that automatically weave into a tightly braided rope upon casting.

It's like making your magic circle a little sewing machine.

"Lets see here... Rope Make: Cord!"

I used 'Cord' as 'Rope Make: Rope' is fucking redundant.

Magic itself seemed to agree as it takes less energy to get the same results by saying 'Cord' instead of 'Rope'.

I frown at the magic circle that appears in front of my hand, numerous strings shooting out across my room.

"Hmmm." I lowly hum, gazing at the three little pieces of twine that shot out.

They're... slightly twisted, but... it's kind of loose.

It also rapidly unravels.

The end isn't fixed as well, that's why I've been trying to figure out rope-make braiding. A twist rope will just unravel quickly.

There's also the 'stance' I need to worry about. According to Gray and Leon, some magics have a specific 'stance' that works best for them.

I've tried the ice-make stance, the book just has me simply hold out a single hand. I wonder...

I gaze down at the strings on the floor.

I flip my hand over so my palm is facing upwards, middle and ring finger curled downwards as my index and pinky finger are extended.

"Rope Make: Cord!"

The strings shoot off quickly seemingly with more force.

The twine eventually slaps against the far wall of the room and begins to bundle up as a torrent of fiber seems to spew from the magic circle just in front of my hand.

"Huh... the spider man pose did better than the normal one... I'll make note of that. Needs more testing." I lowly mutter.

"What am I doing wrong?" I question quietly, gazing at my hand.

I've been trying to get the spell to weave, but it's been a bit... difficult...

"Rope Make: Slow Cord!"

Three strings weakly spew from the magic circle.

There's little crackles on the circle that seem to pulse and shove the twine around.

The leftmost one is tossed over the middle string, then the rightmost is tossed over it, finally the original string is tossed over the new center.

I watch a rope slowly form from the circle.

"Huh..." I whisper.

I wouldn't call it perfect.

There's certainly some imperfections in the rope, but it's far better than it was.

Perhaps I just can't do these little edits quickly yet?

Regardless, this is quite interesting.

It has been... about a month since I started learning.

I'm progressing quite well if I say so myself!

I could probably weave some CRAZY burlap sacks if I really wanted.

But. That's just a start.

Maybe an annoyance spell to briefly distract someone by putting a sack over their head.

When can I start making silk damn it! At this point, I sort of just want to make a massive heap of the stuff to lay on! My back is killing me!

I hear the chime of my computer causing me to rise to my feet.

The last quest was to 'perform static maker magic'. I did it and promptly purchased the shop upgrade for restaurants.

It said those upgrades are Linear, so, I mean, I'm ALWAYS going to have that one be first.

I did this because I sort of want to buy some furniture. Like... a bed.

I take a seat, gazing over my new-

Oh?

Its not an email, it's a message-

*Ping*

Theeeeere's the email.

I'll look over that in a second.

"Hang on..." I lowly mutter. "Who's this?"

"You have entered the Manga Fan's Chatgroup."

"Hello!" - The Manga Fan

"Hi" I type out.

"Hi! How are you!" - Andy's Coffin.

"Pretty good, I guess." - The Manga Fan

"Soooo, you like Manga?" - The Manga Fan

"Yep. Anime too. But where I am right now there's not a lot of stores that sell Manga. Just normal novels. Those are good too, I guess, but honestly nothing beats a good Manga." - Andy's Coffin.

"So. Have a favorite Genre?" - Andy's Coffin.

"Slice of Life. You?" - The Manga Fan

"I'm more of a Shounen guy or Action/Adventure guy. But slice of life is pretty good too." - Andy's Coffin.

"Do you have a favorite manga?" - The Manga Fan

"Hmmm... that's a tough one, honestly. Let me think for a minute." - Andy's Coffin.

"One Piece?" - Andy's Coffin.

"Isn't that one SUPER long? Like, over 300 chapters?" - The Manga Fan

"The last chapter I read of it was like... 1100 or so." - Andy's Coffin.

I don't get a reply for a moment.

"Wait... What? But it only has like 400 chapters... I just checked!" - The Manga Fan

I just send her a simple smiley face.

"I also enjoy magic." - Andy's Coffin.

"Like... pulling coins from behind ears?" - The Manga Fan

"Sure!" - Andy's Coffin.

"Huh that's neat. Shit I'll TTYL" - The Manga Fan

I blink twice. "Huh."

Progressions of Magic:
You've done quite well for yourself! You've even got a magic to call your own! Two of them, in fact, if you could call your Thaumaturgy a magic style. Well, now all that remains is to get better at it!

Let's give you for first BIG objective in this new life.
Objectives:
Create a Permanent item with your Maker Magic: [ ]
Perform a Dynamic Maker Magic spell successfully: [ ]
Learn to create Linen with your Maker Magic: [ ]
Create 2 'Clothing Items' with your magic (Doesn't have to be permanent): [ ]

Rewards: One of four options. With each further objective you gain another of the four until you have gained them all or time has run out.
Time limit: 159 Days, 23 Hours, 59 Minutes, 59 Seconds.

"Huh." I mutter under my breath.

One... is quite difficult. The second even more so. Three should be manageable in the time I have... honestly the last option would probably be the easiest... but that's only because of one thing... Scarves.

Scarves are sort of just thicker woven ropes.

Sure, it'll probably be made of Burlap, but... technically that's clothing baby!

Let's do this!

I toss aside a long brown piece of fabric, watching as it disappears into motes of light, then take a seat at my computer.

"Alriiiiight. It barely even took a week to get my magic to a point where I could weave loose cloth like that." I grin, my objective being completed.

Rewards:
Reward 1: Coupon System Upgrade.

I blink twice.

Holy shit.

That's interesting, but System upgrades persist... plus I have no money.

Option 2: Random Magic Item.

Option 3: Random Book from Fairy Tail.

Option 4: Random Material

"Uhhh... Random Book go!"

Annnd one hour till it arrives.

Perfect.

I look to my messaging tab.

I only have two contacts right now, Manga Fan and Papi.

I know quite a lot about Papi, but Manga Fan? All I know is that she's a girl and that she lives in a 'modern' world... about two-thousand and six or so.

she's also fifteen or so.

I do enjoy our conversations, though. She's fun.

Sporadic in the times that she's on, a little bratty, and a bit nerdy in how she constantly insists manga is literature- I mean, by definition, it is- but she seems a little insecure about it. I mean, I totally get it, I haven't left the house in around a month and-

Fuck. I need to take another bath. It's been six days. I had forgotten.

Uuuuughhh.

Anyways, Manga Fan seems like a good person.

Anyways, I've been craving a Pizza for the past couple of days. I think I might actually try and get out more and join Fairy Tail... at least to take a mission every now and then to get some cash.

I'll take a bath while I wait for my newest book to arrive.

I open the box, eyes widening at the book placed within.

"Huh..."

"Thorton's Guide to Enchanted and Alchemical Ammunition."

I pick it up, quickly skimming through the first couple of pages.

A book on how to make enchanted bullets and arrows...

Arcane Archer style.

That's...

Intriguing.

As a hot-blooded gun loving American, getting a magic gun has always sort of been on my bucket list.

I walk to my bedroom and place the book on the shelf beside my book on cloth-make then nod once.

"I... should go and join the guild." I quietly decide.

I need money.

Money solves a lot of my problems.

Mainly the whole 'eating only Lunchables for well over a month at this point' problem.

I don't really think eating only lunchables is very good for my health... but, like I've got an anime body now. Those are pretty durable.

"I'll... join the guild later."

Damn my accursed procrastinating self!

I lay back on the floor, a large roll of folded burlap beneath me, acting sort of like a cushion.

It's... about as comfortable as that little bed of mine.

My gaze flicks over to a nearby piece of string, about the size of a shoelace that I had stuck to the wall.

My first permanent creation. 'Literally just a string'.

But. It sort of means something to me so I keep it on the wall with a sticker I bought from the gas station.

The sentimental sort...

My first real foray into magic.

Maybe I could turn it into a bracelet?

That'd be interesting!

I shake my head, closing my eyes and feeling my mind rescind deep into my core.

'I've got enough to try again.'

I assume the position, fingers curled and palm facing upwards. "Rope Make: Serpent!"

A rope is shot from the magic circle that appears atop my hand.

More uniform than it was just a month ago.

Tightly braided from four strands.

It's a little small, actually. One of these days I might try and combine three of these into a larger rope, but that's not today.

I watch the rope wave around under my guidance.

This is...

More telekinesis than 'dynamic maker magic'.

I'm using my Thaumaturgy magic to gently guide the rope, just trying to get a feel of what it could feel-like.

There's a notable drain on my core that nearly leaves me empty, the front of the rope folding in on itself twice, creating a little bend that...

Looks...

Like jaws?

"..."

A grin slowly crosses my lips as the rope waves back and forth, then falls to the floor, immobile, the tip of the rope unbending.

I slowly get up, making my way to the computer.

"Material, Please." I click the material option, having completed my third objective.

Man. I'm flying through these.

But I suppose the deity did give me some sort of 'magic' boon.

And I don't really have ANYTHING else to do aside from chat with Papi and Mangafan occasionally.

I flop back onto my little burlap coil and gaze up at the ceiling throwing out my hands weakly. "The plants, the animals, the earth, give me your energy!"

"..."

"Ah. Right. Should probably make a note of this on Thaumaturgy's spell list." I mutter under my breath as little motes of green light is sucked towards me.

I rise to my feet, walking back over to the computer, frowning at the hard wooden chair- that I have folded up a bunch of burlap in the seat of- then take a seat.

"Let's see here... Files. Folders. Magics" I mutter under my breath.

Magic: 1: Thaumaturgy.
Future Ideas: Shaped Ethernano. Like... Triangles, cubes and Cylinders. Flatten and add Spin? Like a sawblade?"

Spell 1: Gather:
The most important aspect of Thaumaturgy. Gathering the ambient Ethernano to use for attacks, potentially allowing for Thaumaturgy to be used even while magically exhausted. Gathering magic takes considerable time, thus this is probably not that useful for combat. But it does improve overall magical regeneration by a fair bit.

Spell 2: Expend:
In unison with Spell 1, this allows you to transform your stored mana directly into ethernano. A wizard's magic is far thicker than the magic in the air, so it can be used to very quickly build up the ethernano required for Thaumaturgy spells.

Spell 3: Snap/Implode
By Createing a softball sized orb of Ethernano you can then collapse it in on itself. Stings a little bit and creates a quiet pop. Notes: the word 'Snap' while casting improves the power of this effect by 300-400%, and if you snap your fingers during the casting as well it could even result in a spell that's 5 or 6 times as strong as normal. Clenching your fist is also applicable, but has an overall decrease in power compared to snapping by around 20-25%. (Thus the spell being only 4-4.5 times as strong instead.)
Stronger versions of this spell can be achieved by using more ethernano. At a certain point, after the gathered magical energy begins to eclipse a beach ball, 'Implode' becomes a better word than 'Snap'.

Spell 4: Ignis/Ignis Maxima
Ignis is a word that makes your gathered ethernano highly flammable like gas, but it requires some sort of spark or flame to ignite it. The basic version of the spell creates a gout of fire similar to a flamethrower, with more gathered ethernano, the area and heat of the spell increases.
Ignis Maxima seems to condense all of this heat into a single explosive bolt that is shot off like a missile. It holds its form for around 10-12 seconds before it eventually detonates. If it strikes a target beforehand, it will explode prematurely. The area of the explosion and heat being dependent on the ethernano used in its creation.

Spell 5: Object Manipulation.
By infusing gathered Ethernano into objects you can act like you had some sort of 'pseudo telekinesis'. The amount of ethernano directly corresponds to how easy the object is to manipulate and how fast it will move/how much force it has. Some materials hold more energy than others, in which case, they will be easier to control and be stronger in general. This 'telekinesis' lasts as long as the object still has ethernano, which will begin to slowly leak out. The more energy, the easier it will leak out as there is more to focus on. With more focus, I can slow this leakage, so it's possible that this telekinesis could become second-nature. It may be possible to activate magic items at a range with this, but I don't have one to test at the moment.

I scroll back up to the first entry, adding a little edit to the bottom.

"By performing the spirit bomb chant ("The plants, the animals, the earth, please lend me your energy!" Or something along those lines) And stance (Arms raised above head, palms skyward), the rate at which energy is gathered is drastically increased. (A staggering 7-10 times), this allows for attacks to be charged relatively quickly- at the cost of mobility- a decent support option as in addition to the regular 'gather' as you can directly recharge your own energy reserves faster than normal."

I nod once, then raise my hands yet again, walking back to my proto bean bag.

"The Plants, The Animals, The Earth, Please Lend Me Your Energy!" I call out after I take a seat.

I gaze down at two packages.

I hadn't opened the materials I received as I was getting relatively close to making cloth by the time it arrived and decided 'eh, why not open both one after the other'.

I had figured out smaller threads, the only hang up was weaving them together into a sheet.

But I eventually did it! Took about three hours, but hey, it worked!

Linen's a bit coarse, honestly. Not something I'd necessarily like to wear, but it's better than burlap, I guess.

I should pick up a book that teaches me how to make clothing.

Like... good looking clothing.

Materials won't be an issue, all I'd need is probably some sort of sewing needle.

Oooooh maybe I could control it with thaumaturgy!

That sounds cool!

Just wave my hand and suddenly rolls of silk begin to fold and sew themselves!

Badass!

I look back at the two packages, a bright grin on my face.

"Let's see heeere." I smirk. "Material first."

I open the box.

Is-

Is that metal?

I peer over to the computer.

"Item Delivery."

"Congratulations on your new materials. This is a silver bar. Sell it or try to use it for magic, it's yours to do with what you please!"

I blink twice.

"Huh..."

I'm going to put this under my bed.

I have a general idea it could help with...

It's quite the hefty little things. Like one of those gold bars you'd see bank vaults in heist movies hold. That means it requires two hands to carry around safely.

It probably weighs about... thirty pounds, maybe?

Anyways, I plan to use this to see which material can hold magic the best... and maybe I'll even trade it to Papi for some quick cash or a sword. That's be useful.

Getting an enchanted silver sword could be helpful. Would probably cause the value to skyrocket as well.

Does Fairy Tail have werewolves?

WAIT.

It does!

I remember uh...

Fairy Tail's 'Manly' guy- whose name is eluding me- Elfman! I remember Elfman having a few takeovers that were werecreatures... and considering how Takeover works- something I definitely should learn- that means that werewolves and stuff also exist.

I nod slowly, crossing my arms, a small smile on my face. 'this should be more than enough to make a sword... it's large enough that it'll likely be enough to 'pay' for it as well.

But.

I'd like to wait a bit. She just started working with silver.

Actually...

I could probably ask her if she'd like to buy Linen.

I could probably produce a few fairly large sheets for her.

"Let's worry about that later." I hum as I look to the last box.

There's...

A lantern in it?

Like, one that hangs off a little metal rod sort of like a flail?

I glance to the computer.

"Congratulations on your new Item. This is a Flame Lantern. A magical item that is used for the 'Lantern' holder magic. This lantern in particular is quite a high quality one, but it's overall spell is quite mundane. Allowing you to shoot out blasts of fire from the lamp... similar to your Thaumaturgy, actually, but vastly more powerful as the item is actually enchanted to assist and empower these spells instead of just using a simple gas station lighter."

"Huh... mental note. Test out the Thaumaturgy fire words when using it. I am unsure if Holder magic would benefit from vocal components. Now I need-

Fuck.

I just realized something...

If I leave, I'd be leaving behind all of my stuff.

I didn't worry about the organ, because frankly, if someone broke in and managed to steal it, whatever, they can have it after going through all that effort, but my books and silver bar? And the lantern?!

I...

I need requip magic...

I need requip magic NOW so I can carry my more valuable objects with me!

But first... take two baths. I took one yesterday, but I don't want to appear like the absolute feral little goblin that I am around people.

I slip into the Fairy Tail guild hall, not drawing attention to myself as I walk around the outside.

People are talking, chatting and going about their business as I enter the library.

A low breath leaves my lips as I look around.

Fairy Tail's library is quite unused. From what I can tell, the boisterous ones aren't here yet. As in everyone from Natsu's generation. But even still. People- who aren't me- would rather be outside talking and socializing than be here in the quiet.

No clue why, though.

I make my way around the room, eyes skimming the bookshelves.

"R... R..." I mutter under my breath, voice barely a whisper.

Ah. There we are.

'Re... oh! There it is! Requip!

My trip wasn't an absolute waste!

I find a corner of the library and sit down, book in my lap.

Maybe they even have a book on household magics?

That'd be useful at least until I can get my hands on Virgo.

So.

Requip.

I open the book, gazing down at the pages within.

Part one. Harnessing your magic to create a personal Pocket Dimension.

That...

Sounds relatively difficult.

This seems to be only the basics, so, how to make it, how to send items to it, and how to recall items from it.

Not things like where the items appear, such as with Erza's full-body requip.

Honestly? I'm sort of struggling to think of ways to improve Requip beyond its basic 'take' 'place' 'hold' and 'choose where to place' aspects.

Could it be similar to Thaumaturgy, where it is just a 'spell'? Could it be my first step to creating my very own spatial magic.

Surely if it was that easy... other people would be doing it, right?

This will probably also be how I move around that damned pipe organ... but considering just how small the book seems to want me to make the original space... it'll probably take as least a year or two until I can grow the space large enough to move that waste of living room space somewhere more convenient.

Oh! Idea! What if I make it so I can enter my own requip space?

That'd be an interesting avenue to pursue.

But that begs the question, what if I accidentally lock myself in there?

That's a mildly worrying thought. I'll try and be as careful as I possibly can when I attempt that, though.

I shake my head 'Focus. Read. Learn. You ADHD riddledbastard.'

You've got a lot of work to do, after all.

And you also want to go home as soon as physically possible to get away from all these people. The sooner you learn requip. The sooner you can go back to your goblin cave and horde your treasures.

Well, our boy is doing quite good for himself.
He's rolled REAL good on his random items. The pipe organ was a 85 out of 100 and the book on cloth make was a 98, and then the ammunition book was a 95.
Then he turns around, gets a 68 for that big ass silver bar, and a flat 50 for the lantern.
