Don't Own Fairy Tail or anything else Only The Oc
'thought'
"Speech"
"Powerful Creatures Speaking, like a dragon or a god"
"Text via book or newspaper... when those are around..."
I peer around my house, spying the three girls which apparently live here now.
*Ping*
Archive opens causing me to smirk victoriously. Grimmel has taken the bait.
"What is this?" - Grimmel the Grisly
"Magic. Simple as that. You see, I am something of a researcher and one thing has always interested me. Dragons. However, where I live dragons are but a legend. That is why I have reached out to you, Grimmel, I could grant you items you couldn't even begin to comprehend in exchange for living dragons." - Archmage Graves
"Here. This is merely something I was experimenting with. Bindings that can resist even the sharpest blade I have access to without even a frayed edge. I am unsure how it would react with fire, but there are numerous dragons that don't breathe fire." - Archmage Graves
I turn coming face to face with Rias who was reading over my shoulder.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"Roleplaying as an eccentric all powerful wizard for some Viking guy." I blandly reply. "Supposedly his world has a bunch of weaker dragons I could use to practice my takeover."
"I'm... quite interested in seeing if you can pull it off." She smiles as I step around her grabbing the rolled-up ribbon and stuffing it into the screen.
"So have you considered what you are going to be doing in this world, Rias?" I ask.
"That's tough." She admits. "Contracts... obviously... but beyond that? I don't know..."
"Want to join Fairy Tail?" I suggest.
"Sure! I need some pocket change since I doubt my money's any good... and joining an adventurer's guild after getting Isekai'd sounds AWESOME!"
"Yeah... sort of expected a weeb like you to say something like that." I sigh.
"H-Hey! I prefer the term..." She begins only to pause seemingly trying to think of something that sounds good. "Appreciator of Japanese art."
"That just sounds like you're really into hentai." I deadpan.
"W-Well- It's better than normal porn!" The girl growls.
"Cause of the tentacles?" I shoot back.
"There are OTHER kinds of hentai ANDREW!" The girl glares.
Grimmel doesn't seem to reply, so I close my archive window.
"Whatever. Sure. Pervert." I snort.
"I don't hear you complaining this morning when I was walking around without clothing."
"Well, here I am, going through my hormonal teenage years... AGAIN." I scoff.
"Hmmm? Are you saying that you could use... a hand?" She whispers into my ear.
"..."
"..."
"I'm a little uncomfortable uh... doing that sort of thing like that." I weakly begin. "Soooo uh... maybe later."
The girl pouts. "I always get what I want Andy... but fine. I'll wait for a little bit."
"Do... do you really like me that way?" I whisper. "This- this isn't some sort of pitying 'you saved me so I guess I could mess with you for awhile' thing, is it?"
Her eyes narrow slightly, then her expression softens.
Her arms wrap around me, her hand stroking the back of my head. "In the months we've been friends... I have grown to care about you, you know."
"You're not ugly, quite cute in fact, and you're fun to tease~" she smiles. "Besides... I've got no competition to worry about! Unless of course you've been talking to others online."
"Ah... I only have three contacts, really... besides you, at least... and well, that doesn't really count anymore because it looks like your account has been deleted."
"Wait... what?" She blinks.
"Yeah..." I confirm. "You're not on my messenger app anymore."
Archive appears again, showing my messenger app with only three contacts. The first, Papi, the next, 'Mangafan' and the third 'Grimmel the Grisley'.
"Oh..." She blinks twice. "Okay!"
She pulls me to my feet. "Come on! Show us around Magnolia!"
"A-Alright." I blink as I am dragged out the door.
"And this... is the Fairy Tail guild." I gesture towards a large building in front of me.
"Huh... it's pretty big." Rias mutters, gazing up at the symbol above the door. "How do you join?"
"Walk up to the guild master or someone else and ask to join?"
"..."
"Is that it?" She blinks twice.
"For Fairy Tail, yes... oh, you might also have to prove you can use magic. But that's about it." I nod. "It's a pretty chill guild, honestly."
I walk through the doors leading inside, gesturing towards the bar. "I'd go over to her if you want to join... I really should see about picking a mission."
With that I walk away, the group of three heading towards the bar.
'lets see here... what sort of missions do we have?'
Oh?
The daybreak job...
Fifty thousand jewel...
That is... fine...
If I can't make my money's worth robbing that man, I'm not trying hard enough.
Gold, Jewels, money, books. I need and want all of those things.
Gold, because you can use it for inlays with enchantment. Gemstones make good nexus points for enchanting, some of the more advanced options in the book of clothing enchantments use them, money because, well, money. And books because I'm a nerd... and have access to a pair of glasses that'll let me read an entire book in like... ten minutes.
I need to start working on a fireproof cloak. That means designs.
"Whatcha looking at?" Rias questions.
"A job." I reply.
"Oh? What sort?" She continues.
"I'll need to find a book." I quietly explain, reading over the text again.
"Hey... Andy..." Rias begins quietly causing me to turn to her, she has her hands on her hips, a bright smile on her face as she has one of her sleeves rolled back the emblem of the fairy tail guild in a deep red, mirroring her hair now rests on her arm. "I'm now a proud member of fairy tail!"
"Congratulations." I hum as I look back down to the paper.
I look up.
Then back down.
"Hey Rias... how good are you at mental magics?"
"Pretty good, it was an important skill back home due to the nature of being forced to keep things hidden from normal people... why?"
"Oh good. Care to join me?" I ask, walking towards the bar.
"What sort of job is it?" She questions as I watch Koneko get a magic stamp pressed against her arm, roughly in the same place Rias' is.
"Virgo's." I admit, causing the redhead to let out a hum of acknowledgement.
Koneko seems to be drawing a little attention with her cat ears and tail, but overall, she's sort of tame for this world... I've seen the rare frog person or person with animal features. She's not exactly out of place, which is why she isn't bothering hiding her features.
Valerie gets her mark on the back of her hand as I come to a stop at the bar.
"I'm taking this mission." I state, placing the job request down on the countertop.
The dark skinned woman with a flower crown who is working the bar looks over, she wears only an orange bikini. "Oh? Wait... are you... sure? This mission looks a little... high-profile."
"I can handle it." I reply instantly.
"That... doesn't seem like a good idea."
"Look. Lady. I know five magics to a reasonable level and I'm older than I look. I also know what I'm dealing with here." I frown, annoyance beginning to fill my voice
"Besides... he won't be going alone." Rias speaks up from behind me. "And I and my friends are quite strong."
"Mn." Koneko grunts.
"It's true!" Valerie hums.
"If... you're sure. I won't stop you." The woman relents, letting out a long sigh. "Let me stamp the job request and you can get going."
The train car rattles underneath as I frown at the job.
"So! What's the mission, Andy?" Rias asks.
"We need to find a book in the mansion of some rich nobleman called Duke Everlue. I have heard bad things about him so be on your guards... actually this will be my first potential fight as well... hm... I should be able to handle it."
"What's the reward?" Rias asks.
"I'm not very interested in the Jewel, so you can have that. But the Job reward is a... little low for this sort of mission. Fifty thousand. But. There's more than one way to make a profit on a job."
"Virgo?" Rias asks.
"Virgo." I nod once. "But breaking a celestial spirit contract is annoying. Celestial spirits do basically whatever they are commanded. The celestial spirit follows these orders even if they don't like their summoner... but it is worthy of note that if your spirit does like you, some rules can typically be bent. Like they can summon themselves using their own magical energy to defend you or something like that."
"How do you break a celestial spirit contract, then?" Rias asks, deeply interested in this new magic.
"There's a few ways. The first? The contractor is killed. The next? The contractor releases the contract of their own free will... third? The contractor is arrested."
"Oooooh. So plan two?"
"Three's also on the table... I've heard rumors." I glance around the train car briefly.
"Oh. Don't worry. I've put of a few privacy spells." Rias supplies.
"I've heard this guy is a deplorable human being." I begin to explain. "This book that we're being sent to Destroy? I heard that he kidnapped the author and forced him to write it, threatening to revoke the author- and his family's citizenship, preventing him from publishing any further books and preventing his family from getting a job in any of the nonmagical guilds like the trader's guild... which might be their only option as only ten percent of the population can make use of magic."
Rias frowns slightly. "We're being sent to destroy a book?"
"The job requester seems to be the author's son if what I've heard is correct. But the author always wrote under a penname. If anyone should destroy the book, it's him. So I'm planning on bringing it back to him. Of course, the reward for pissing off a rich guy is really low, but nothing says that a few object's can't be... lost... along the way. Perhaps Mr. Everlue will be pleased enough to give me a few books to expand my collection."
Koneko blinks twice, letting out a muted 'Mn.'
Valerie looks thoughtful.
"Aaaaah." Rias breathes, a smile crossing her lips. "I see. Perhaps he will! Oh. On that note, Andrew I have some more books from home."
"Okay?"
"I'm going to use them to bribe you for things." She smiles, causing me to frown slightly. "Come now, how else am I supposed to get a shut in like you out of the house unless I dangle knowledge in front of you?"
I roll my eyes, gazing out the window. "Fine. Whatever. I still haven't read everything you've sent. In fact, I've barely touched a lot of the books, focusing on improving my magic instead. I'll be sure to correct that using your rent."
"Ah, of course, how are you supposed to make me fancy dresses and lingerie if you don't read your books!"
I gently knock my knuckles on a large gate, a frown on my lips.
I've seen numerous cameras on the way. Shittily hidden large orb-like crystal balls, typically covered with an animal pelt or something.
Why the hell would a wolf be sitting in a tree?
You'd think they'd disguise it with like... birds... or with leaves, but no.
Animal pelts.
Or...
Could the pelts be required?
Is the security system some sort of animal-based voodoo magic?
Huh.
"BOIYOIYOI! Take your ugly bitches and be gone at once!" A short, stubby man with a combover shoots from the ground, he has a black suit with a single golden button the size of a dinner plate on the front.
Normally... I may try to diplomatize this to get into a better position before attacking... but... judging by the killing intent of the three girls behind me... I don't think I'm going to get a chance.
"My... how rude." Valerie frowns as Rias magical power spikes.
Koneko... kicks the metal gate, causing the hinges to snap and for it to smash into the duke, knocking him unconscious.
"HUBBY!" A woman with... a watermelon shaped head shouts as I rub my temples.
"Sleep." Rias commands as the woman drops like a puppet with her strings cut.
A large pink haired gorilla-like woman shoots from the earth-
Her chest glows as I wordlessly send a crimson bolt through it.
The hole glimmers slightly as she looks downwards, the edges of the cavity flickering with golden light.
Then she evaporates. Disappearing completely.
"Alright. Uh... white haired girl? Koneko. Right. Koneko. Can you bend the metal bars around him so he can't run?"
"Mn." The girl grunts.
*CREEEEAAAAAAK*
Fucking horrifying that she can do that. I pity her future boyfriend.
I walk forwards.
"HAAAA-" Another maid shoots from the ground using some form of burrowing magic much like the others. A brown magic circle appears in her hand. "EARTH BULLET!"
"Rope Make: Master Hand." I call out, grasping a wrist with one hand as I curl my middle and ring finger inwards,
A large wall appears in front of me... a hand.
Fist sized rocks pelt the coiled rope, with a flick of my wrist, the raised palm shoots forwards, crashing into the girl and coiling around her, a single strand of rope keeping it connected to the magic circle. It raises off the ground and with a loud crash it smashes her into the floor.
Two more ugly maids are taken down, one via a simple blast of magical power from Rias, and the other a bolt of darkness from Valerie.
My created hand quickly begins unraveling, retreating back into the magic circle.
"What are you doing?" Rias asks as she slowly comes to a stop beside me, watching the rope rapidly disappear. It's sort of satisfying in a way.
"I'm returning the rope. I'm regaining some of the magic I spent on it like this. Much more efficient. A boon of cloth maker magic, you can keep it connected to the magic circle and instead of allowing it to 'pop' like a normal 'Dynamic Maker' item with the magical energy used to create it returning to the world at large, this way you are re-absorbing that spent energy." I begin. "So for instance. If I cast a spell that took fifty percent of my mana, I could probably regain... maybe forty eight to forty nine percent... oh, and I mean like overall. Not like half I meant you'd recover almost all of it."
"I... see." The woman mutters. "Sooooo I've also been thinking of picking up a magic or two. What do you think would suit me?"
"Some form of sin magic perhaps?" I suggest. "I can't even begin to fathom a concept for that beyond some form of emotional manipulation but that's... sort of boring... oh wait, I have an interesting idea. You know how there's celestial spirit magic using constellations that we know? What is there's an inverse? Infernal spirit magic. Taking the names of a few certain houses... such as... Gremory?"
"Huh." Rias mutters. "That's an interesting train of thought. Maybe I'll look into that! I'll have time after all!"
She walks over to the prone Everlue and waves her hands over his head. "Let's see here... just a little bit of- oh... this is quite difficult. I've never used it on a mage before, even back home."
She seems to continue to work eventually letting out a quiet 'Aha!'
"Done!"
She slaps him once.
"OW!"
"YOU- YOU!" He roars. "HOW DARE YOU! DAMN IT! VIRGO! YOU FAILED ME! OUR CONTRACTED IS NULL!"
Rias smirks, casting a glance to me.
"Well. That's that." I smirk.
"Could you be a dear and tell us where that key is?" Rias asks.
"WHY WOULD I TELL YOU UGLY BITCHES ANYTHING-"
"Sleep." Rias growls.
She seems to be casting more spells on him.
She slaps him again.
"GRRRRR! HOW DARE YOU SLAP MY PERFECT FACE! YOU WILL SUFFER DEARLY FOR THIS!"
"Where's Virgo's Key." She asks again.
"WHY WOULD I TELL YOU THAT IT'S IN MY PERSONAL SAFE BEHIND MY PORTRAIT IN MY MASTER BEDROOM?!"
"And the combination?" The redhead hums.
"Hah! You'd never guess four-eight-thirty seven-twenty nine."
"Sleep again." Rias waves her hand.
"That's kind of terrifying, Rias." I note as I walk up to the door and walk inside.
I gaze up at the absolutely titanic statue.
Rias comes to a stop beside me. "Holy shit... he's more frivolous with his wealth than my ex fiancée's family... and they've had hundreds of years to gather their money and the benefit of having overpriced healing magics that they charge an arm and a leg for."
"Gold's useful for enchantment~" I hum.
"Plus it's worth a lot~" Rias grins along.
We low five.
"Dorks." Koneko blandly deadpans.
"Someone watch those five. I'm going looting!" Rias grins as she walks deeper inside the mansion.
I follow along after her.
It took a lot of searching but eventually we found the master bedroom.
I look around slowly, letting out a long sigh as I look at a gilded frame hanging around a tasteful and masterfully done painting.
I... just wish it had a better muse.
I might take the painting. It's probably some popular author that the duke kidnapped and forced to paint. I'll give it a name like. 'The wealth of evil' or something.
I wordlessly open the frame, pulling it off the wall like a cabinet door, gazing at a small safe hidden behind it.
Rias in the background walks over to the bed, pushing her hand down on it. "Huh... pretty comfortable... if that ugly toad hadn't used this I might have stole it. I might need to ask our little prisoner where he purchased it."
"Four... eight... thirty seven... twenty niiiine-" *Click* "Ah there we go." I twist open the safe gazing inside.
"What goodies to we have here?" I question, Rias gazing over my shoulder.
I pull out a simple key ring a spade-tipped golden key with a white handle.
"Is that it?" Rias asks.
"Yep." I confirm with a sole nod.
"It's very pretty." She whispers, her eyes wide. "And I can definitely feel the power from it."
"Well. Let's give it a try then." I turn and slowly walk across the room, Rias peering into the safe, seemingly rifling through it.
She turns as I assume she can sense my magic.
"Open! Gate of the Maiden! Virgo!" I call out as my magic channels into the key. I swipe it downwards.
*Ding Dong*
*FLASH*
A beautiful pink haired woman in a maid uniform appears with a flash, she has broken shackles on her wrist and does an elaborate bow.
"Greetings... are you my new master?" She questions.
"Ah... I guess? I'm a little new to this... celestial spirit... stuff, so how does all of this work exactly?"
"Oh. A newcomer to celestial spirit magic. One moment please."
She seems to disappear... then reappears a moment later with a book in hand. "This should cover everything. Please read through this and re-summon me at your earliest convenience. I must go now-"
"Wait." I call out causing her to blink.
"Yes?"
"Your previous master... I'd like to know a little about him... and if you'd like for us to do anything to him."
"Oh?" She blinks slowly, cocking her head to the side. She has a blank expression in her eyes. As if she is unfeeling, but her lips turn downwards.
"I do not like him." She simply states.
"Is that... it? Any requests for what we do to him? Turn him over to the rune knights? Burn his house down? Break his bones?" I continue.
"You... actually value my input?" She seems surprised.
"Should I not?" I question slowly.
"Hm... it's just... been a while." She notes. "My previous wielder... before the Duke... was a nice old woman. I enjoyed serving her. But. Everlue wanted an eternal maid. He heard of my key and thus he bought her house and slowly raised the cost to live there. Bit by bit bleeding every last jewel he could out of her. Eventually he forced her to sell me to him and break her contract... then kicked her out onto the street anyways."
There's a cold hatred in her eyes. "He forced me into an abominable form to suit his tastes and forced my compliance in all of his schemes. The kidnapping of numerous artists, be it authors, painters, or sculptors, and the regular crushing of businesses that might compete with his monopolies."
"Why didn't you just... like kill him the second you appeared?" Rias asks
"Technically, people who call us with a celestial spirit key are in a bit of a grey area when it comes to what we are allowed to do with them. We are forbidden from harming them- as they are technically our summoner in that moment- but we face no consequences if we were to sit by and watch if they were to die. The thing is, the duke threatened to toss my key into the sea... and... I have seen numerous spirits whom have had that happen to them... some intentional, others accidental... after not being summoned for a while, a few centuries or so, the spirit begins to grow sluggish, eventually they will fall into a slumber... one which they will never awaken from unless someone finds their key... I cannot allow this to happen. The Zodiac are still needed. There is one task I need to do. One I won't be able to had I been tossed into the sea."
That is...
Sad...
She walks forwards slowly, gesturing to the safe. "In this safe... you will find both the deed to this mansion... alongside numerous other plots of land across Fiore and numerous business contracts, both magical and nonmagical."
We'll probably have to leave those for the rune knights... even the deed. They might overlook things going missing but the deed? That's a bit much. Far too obvious.
"Do you know where he keeps his money?"
"I do... if you ensure he gets arrested I will show you to his main vault and unlock it for you." The woman nods once.
"As long as we get some evidence, I'm sure we could easily make that happen!" Rias beams. "Besides... I'm still pissed at the bastard for calling me ugly!"
"Am- Am I ugly Andy?"
"No. You're not. But fishing for compliments from a loser shut in like me is kind of pathetic" I deadpan, giving her a half-lidded stare.
We are led through the mansion, eventually coming to a stop in an office of some sort.
Virgo gestures to the large vault door in the wall. "This is where he keeps all of his money. Allow me."
A magic circle appears in front of her hand.
She abruptly swings her fist into the metal. *CLANG*
My eyebrows shoot upwards as the door seems to ripple slightly, her hand being imbedded into the door up to nearly her elbow.
"Damn." I whisper. "That was diver magic, right?"
"Correct." She nods once. "A type of magic that allows you to soften materials of the earth such as dirt, stone, or metal and even swim through it... of course, dirt is the easiest to soften... then stone... and finally metal. Worked and forged metal being the hardest of all... and enchanted metals are another thing entirely."
She gestures to the safe. "This ordinarily would only have opened had the duke willed it. However. I have broken it."
"Thank you." I gently speak, a smile on my lips.
"Hm." The maid hums. "You are welcome. When you have finished reading that book please summon me again."
"I will. Thank you again, Virgo."
With a flash she disappears.
"That was SO COOL!" Rias beams the second she leaves, looking at the vault door. "She just punched through five inches of enchanted STEEL!"
"Mhm." I nod once. "That's some serious power. I can't wait to have her on our side officially."
"OH!" Rias gasps. "Did you get an achievement?!"
With a wave of my hand an archive window opens.
She quickly speeds over, peering over my shoulder.
"Not yet." I state. "But then again, I haven't really entered a contract with her yet. It's likely I'll get one after I officially become her summoner."
"You'd better pick something cool."
"Typically, I'm given gacha rewards." I sigh. "At which point I sort of just choose between book, magic item, or something else."
"Oh... oh well." Rias sighs as she slowly walks back over to the vault. "Let's take stock at what we've gain- WOAH LOOK AT ALL THE MONEY!"
I pause next to her, gazing at not only numerous bills of paper, but bars of gold and gemstones as well.
"Wait." I mutter slowly looking to her. "Weren't you in a REALLY rich family? Why are you so hyped about money?"
"Well. I'm poor now, aren't I? Also. My family wasn't really the type to have a vault... or if they were they're not the type to tell me about it or show me... mainly because I was set to be married off to that womanizing bastard Riser and my nephew was to become the next lord of Gremory... I refuse to believe that my brother didn't pull some strings there... but oh, he's the son of two of the underworlds most powerful devils. He deserves to be heir far more than little failure Rias! Tch. If they were going to remove my heiress status the least they could do was let me keep to myself."
A low hum leaves my lips, she seems quite angry with them. I mean, who wouldn't? Being a devil sounds like total hell with so many political moves going on... pun sort of intended. "One of these days once I figure out dimensional travel... want to go back and beat the shit out of them?"
She seems to pause, eyes growing wide as for the first time it seems like she comprehends the consequences of her leaving her world behind. A devious smile slowly spreads across her lips, blue eyes seeming to glow with maliciousness. "It's a date~"
Awww. How cute! Rias and Andy went on a date where they mugged the rich! they probably won't have to worry about money for a year or two... y'know... considering how much Koneko eats.
