Hello! Finally here is the update! Sorry, it took a year!
Let me know what you think in the reviews!
In this chapter, we get to meet some people from the Ace Kingdom as well as Aqua Deer members. Things are about to get hectic.
Chapter 4- Dungeons & Reunions
Present Day
Ace Kingdom
Lunar Court
Qrow Vasilikov's Office
A man with sun-kissed skin, thick wavy black hair, and narrow deep purple eyes sat behind his desk in his office, working instead of sleeping for once.
He was dressed in a long-sleeved double-breasted black coat with a standing collar and two rows of gold buttons on the front and neatly pressed black trousers and polished black dress shoes sat behind his desk. He was happy and content to work in peace when sadly, that peace was shattered a moment later:
"Hey, Qrow?" A light female voice called through the thick wooden doors. "Are you in there?"
Qrow's brows furrowed but he didn't answer, hoping that his silence would send the intruder away.
"Qrow. Qrow. Are you there?" The knocking persisted much to Qrow's irritation and he growled under his breath but otherwise kept quiet.
"Well, I know you're there so I'll just come in anyways," The voice said.
"Huh?!" Qrow's gaze snapped to the door. "Don't just come in here!" He finally said. But too late, the door swung open to reveal a young woman around his age.
The woman was in her late twenties, she had fair skin, dark silver-colored curls that cascaded down her back, and dusk-colored eyes. She wore a midnight blue, form-fitting dress that accented her curves, the fabric cinched tightly around her waist by a round crystal and pearl brooch that rested just under her chest, there were slits on both sides of her legs, going up to her mid-thighs and she wore dark silver heels.
"Hi! It's me!" The girl said, waving.
"Don't "it's me" Adriane. Go away. You're bothering me and your face burns my eyes." Qrow snapped in irritation.
"Because of its beauty?" Adriane asked happily.
"Because your face is hideous." Qrow snapped.
Adriane just laughed. "You don't have to hide the fact you're happy to see me with mean remarks."
"Huh?!" A tick mark was forming on Qrow's head. "Who's happy to see you?! Go away!"
"You obviously," Adriane said, making her way into the office. "Sorry for the intrusion~"
"Don't come in!" He snapped.
Adriane ignored him and calmly sat down in the chair opposite him, sweeping her glistening dark silver curls over her shoulder as she sat.
"Don't just sit down." His shoulders were shaking as he glared at her.
"Some tea would be nice." She teased.
"I'll kill you," Qrow growled, moving to grab his sword when there was another knock on the door.
"Qrow, I'm here as you requested." Another younger voice said.
Oh no... Qrow felt dread fill him at the voice. Of all times and of all the people...
"Oh," Qrow did not like the smirk that formed on Adriane's face. "Charis came at a perfect time. Now it's a party."
Qrow growled in frustration.
"Huh? What's that growl for?" Adriane asked, blinking at him innocently.
"Nothing," He growled, "Now get the hell out-" Qrow started but Adriane cut him off, raising her voice.
"Charis, come on in!" She said, eyes glowing with mirth as she kept her eyes on Qrow.
"Don't come in! Come back in an hour-" Qrow tried to say.
"I'm coming in," A young girl opened the door. The girl in question had pale skin, bright red curls pulled up into a bun and cornflower blue eyes.
In contrast to both Qrow and Adriane, the girl, Charis, wore a simple light blue dress that stopped at her knees with a short sleeved white jacket on top and ankle-high light brown boots that had a low heel.
"Lady Adriane Valeryon." Charis greeted, hesitating a bit when she saw the older woman before closing the door behind her.
"Hi, Charis! It's been a while." Adriane said merrily, nodding at her.
"Hello," Charis said back calmly.
"Tch." Qrow sighed. No escaping it now.
"Milord Qrow, what's with that face?" Charis asked curiously.
"It's because there's someone I hate in this room right now," Qrow grumbled.
"Shall I take my leave then?" Charis asked, not really seeming to care.
"It's not you," Qrow said in frustration while glaring at Adriane in irritation. He could just feel his stress grow.
"Eh?" A teasing light appeared in Charis's eyes. "Then that means you like me?"
"I didn't say that!" It was clear Qrow wanted to scream at this point. "Anyways, annoying people shouldn't come in at the same time! I can't deal with you both!"
Adriane burst out laughing and Charis said, "You really shouldn't say such cruel things to people you summon."
Qrow sighed, his head falling to his desk. "...just both of you leave... why do you seem to have so much free time today anyways Adriane?"
"I don't really," Adriane said looking away. "I'm just procrastinating."
"Bullshit." Qrow said, lifting his head to glare at her.
"Bullshit indeed." Charis agreed.
She's just here to make me suffer... Qrow thought miserably.
"Anyways, why did you request for me Milord?" Charis asked, getting back on topic.
"We'll talk about it lat-" Qrow was cut off when Adriane interrupted.
"I'd like to know too, anything I can help with?" She asked, sounding genuine.
Qrow took a moment to ponder Adriane's offer. It wasn't every day that Adriane freely offered her help, who was he kidding, he'd pay for asking her later but... "There's a dungeon that just appeared on our borders. You can lead a team to check it out."
"Do you think we'll face difficulties if the Lady Ruler doesn't come?" Charis asked.
Qrow's brows twitched at how Charis addressed Adriane. She had always had a strange way of referring to people and it irked him… if only she would just simply use their names…. But that was an issue for another day.
"Ideally there won't be any trouble, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious," Qrow said, switching back to the topic at hand.
"I'd gladly help," Adriane said, looking excited at the prospect of going on a mission with the teen.
"You have nothing else that needs your attention?" Qrow asked, looking slightly surprised. Adriane was busy. Busier than him on most days.
"I always have something that needs my attention, but those can wait a bit. I need a change of pace," Adriane shrugged her shoulders, the barest hint of a smirk on her face and Qrow inwardly groaned. Chances were that whatever else she needed to do was important, and she was pushing it back, but he couldn't blame her either… her duties could easily become… tiresome.
".. you know what? I don't care. If you're leading this mission with Charis, I need you both to pay attention." Qrow said.
"Yes, Milord." The two girls said in unison, matching grins on their faces and he couldn't help but sigh again.
Present Day
Seven months after Spade War
Clover Kingdom
Outskirts of Forsaken Realm, Dungeon Entrance
Valance stared at the entrance to the dungeon, deep in thought. This would be the squad's first dungeon mission and she had brought Jade, Calleo, and their newest addition, Sophia Kira-Clover with her. At the moment, they were waiting for members of Aqua Deer to join them.
"Can we go in yet?" Sophia asked, looking up at Valance with impatience. The Princess was almost the spitting image of her mother with her long, straight milk chocolate hair and shimmering amber eyes. The only differences were that Sophia was paler than Celande and there was something about her face that made her recognizable as a Kira-Clover.
"We have to wait for the members of Aqua Deer," Valance said, trying to keep her patience, it was the third time Sophia had asked her within the span of fifteen minutes.
"Hey!" She looked up at the voice that called to them, finally seeing the Aqua Deer members appear. "Sorry, we're late!" A woman about her age rushed towards them. She had slightly tanned skin, warm chocolate brown hair pulled up into a simple ponytail, and bright brown eyes; she wore a simple cream-colored blouse with a high waist, a pleated light blue skirt, and light brown boots going up to her knees.
"Better late than never Isolde." Valance smiled, giving her old squad mates a warm look. Isolde had been her assigned buddy when she first joined Julius' squad when it was still Grey Deer. The two of them had often clashed since Isolde had a known temper back when she was seventeen and Valance had been a guarded jerk, but when they both mellowed out, they had become great friends. Valance had even offered Isolde a place in Celestial Phoenix, but Isolde had declined, having found a second family in the Aqua Deer squad.
"I'm sorry, it was my fault." Another Aqua Deer member rushed after Isolde, breathing hard, her fair cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Thea Vaillant, she was fifteen and one of Aqua Deer's newest members. She had dark brown hair that fell to her shoulder blades, creamy fair skin, and large, innocent stormy gray eyes. "I couldn't find my squad robe and Zen wouldn't let us leave without it."
"Don't you have more than one?" Sophia asked, and though the question sounded rather huffy and impatiently there was a genuinely curious tone to it, so Valance didn't scold her.
"Even if she did, it's no good to misplace such an important piece of clothing." A deep voice cut in as the last member of Aqua Deer joined the group. Zen Vaillant, Thea's older brother and the man who became Aqua Deer's vice-captain after Valance had left. He was tall and broad-shouldered with fair skin, short tousled black hair, and narrow dark violet-blue eyes. He wore a sleeveless dark purple shirt under a double-breasted black-and-white vest that had gold buckles, black close-fitting pants, and black combat boots, his Aqua Deer robe draped neatly over his shoulders, even though it clashed with his rather intimidating look.
"As strict as ever Zen." Valance nodded at him before turning back to her brats, eyeing all of them strictly. Time to get serious. "Okay listen up." We're going to enter the dungeon now, but I don't want any of you to let your guard down. There are countless traps and cursed items down there so do not touch anything without permission. Understand?"
"Yes ma'am." Calleo, Jade, and Sophia all nodded; though Valance thought Sophia just agreed so they could go. From what she knew of the youngest Kira-Clover, the girl was curious and liked to figure things out on her own. She also disliked being told what to do, which Valance knew would cause problems later.
"Right, then let's go." Valance nodded, finally leading the way into the dungeon. If only she had known the trouble the stupid dungeon would bring her.
"Watch out!" Jade ducked just as a pillar of flames shot out over his head, turning arrows that had been aiming at his head into ash a second later.
"Thanks," he said, giving Calleo a grateful look and she grinned back.
"No problem, what are squad mates for?" She asked, only to stumble a moment later as she tripped over a hidden wire. Immediately dozens more arrows fired out at them, but this time Jade was prepared.
"Feather magic: Feather Gatling gun," He formed dozens of floating blue and white feathers around himself and Calleo and snapped his fingers, sending the feathers all out to counter each arrow that flew at them.
"I have to admit, this is a bit crazier than I was expecting," Calleo laughed as they caught up with the rest of the group. None of the adults seemed winded but Jade noticed that both Thea and Sophia were also panting slightly.
"Good job, you guys pass for the first chamber," Isolde said, giving them all an encouraging smile.
"That was nothing." Sophia sniffed, "I barely broke a sweat." She boasted.
Jade nodded quietly but he swore he saw Valance's brow twitch slightly at the girl's boast.
"Well, it'll just get harder from here so hopefully that'll entertain you," Valance said, leading the way further into the dungeon. She had only taken a few steps when Zen held out his arm to stop her, his eyes narrowing.
"Did you hear that?" He asked looking at Valance and Isolde. They were all quiet for a moment and that's when he heard it. The sound of someone screaming for help.
"I thought no one else was in the dungeon," Thea said, looking a bit nervous.
"There is always the chance that someone could have stumbled in before we found the dungeon," Isolde explained.
"Are we going to just stand here?" Sophia demanded before anyone else could speak. "We need to help her! Isn't that our job?" Before anyone could protest Sophia took off running towards the voice and Jade followed after her. He wouldn't let her wander off alone. And she was right, someone did need their help.
And as it turned out... it didn't take long for them to find her at all. She was surrounded by dozens of cloaked figures, their faces hidden by the opaque black mask they all wore.
"Hey!" Sophia yelled, drawing their attention from the small, thin girl they had surrounded. "What do you think you're doing?!"
"What we are doing is none of your concern children." One of the cloaked figures said, turning in their direction just as soon as the rest of their team appeared behind them. "You have no business with us, so go on your way. That will be your only warning. She is our problem."
Through the crowd of cloaks, Jade made eye contact with the girl they were trying to capture, a chill going down his spine when he finally got a good look at her. She was covered in dirt and bruises, her clothes nothing more than rags. Her light brownish-gold hair was a tangled mess that flowed down her back and her pale blue eyes were wide with fear. There was no way they could simply leave her with these people. And thankfully his team agreed.
"We'll leave once you hand over the girl," Valance said, stepping to the front. Grimoire at the ready. "She clearly doesn't want to stay with you."
Valance had barely finished speaking when the cloaked figures burst towards them, grimoires glowing as they readied spells to take out the team of magic knights; and soon everything descended into chaos.
The magic knights were quickly separated and forced to fight against the dozens of enemy mages by themselves. Jade found himself dodging a bolt of lightning before countering with his own magic. "Feather magic: Feather chain sword," He summoned feathers that formed a line together before they transformed into a black steel-like chain sword with a white hilt. He swung his arm around, knocking many of the cloaked figures off their feet before dodging a stone that was thrown at him.
"Damn... there are a lot of them." He mumbled, lashing out again with his chain sword and throwing one of the cloaked mages against the wall.
"Feather magic: Feather Gatling gun," Jade summoned blue and white feathers around him before shooting them out with a snap of his fingers, hitting the mages who surrounded him and taking a few out who surrounded Thea as a bonus.
"Learning magic: Flying dreams," He turned his head and saw a stream of pages shoot out from Sophia's grimoire, following the flow of Sophia's hand and crashing into five opposing mages, whoever the pages touched fell to the ground, dead asleep.
"Learning magic: Fireball," Jade blinked when he watched Sophia launch a ball of fire at a mage who charged at her, lighting his cloak on fire. How was fire part of learning?
"Fire magic: Flame vines," Vines created out of well-controlled flames burst out of the ground, whipping at any mage who got too close to Calleo who was fighting a group of mages to his left.
"Fire magic: Spiral flame," Next a tornado-shaped blast of flames burst from Calleo's palms, crashing into the remainder of the mages who surrounded her and Jade smirked. They were winning.
Or they should have been. But from what he was seeing, no matter how many mages they took down, more just took their place. It was endless. And they were outnumbered. And from what he saw, none of them had reached the girl yet; but at least she was doing a good job of staying out of their grasp.
"Jade! Pay attention!" Valance called out urgently and he turned his head just in time to see a massive stone-created fist fly his way. Before he could even attempt to dodge, the fist was destroyed by a burst of dark reddish energy that didn't come from any of the magic knights.
He blinked in surprise just before a girl landed in front of him, twirling an oversized axe around her body as if it weighed nothing. It was clear, that she was the one who had saved him. "Yes. You should be paying more attention." She mused in a rather monotone voice.
The girl had pale skin, bright red hair pulled back into a bun by a dark purple bow, and cornflower blue eyes. "What an amateur move." She said as she stared at him, bored.
"... What?" Jade just blinked at her stunned. Was she lecturing him? "Where did you even come from?"
"The Ace Kingdom." The girl answered back.
"What?!"
"What?!" Both Valance and Zen who she was fighting beside looked at the girl at her words, their eyes widening.
"Valance, I heard that correctly, didn't I?" Zen asked, catching the wrist of a mage who tried to punch him and decking him instead.
"You did," Valance nodded, finding it hard to tear her eyes away from the random girl now. She had looked familiar at first glance and now she knew why... "Celestial magic: celestial scattershot," She created dozens of stars around herself and Zen before throwing them out, causing them to explode on impact as they struck the cloaked mages. It also gave her the space she needed to sprint to the captured girl who was cowering near the center of the chamber.
"Are you hurt?" Valance asked quickly, looking the girl over. She only seemed to have minor injuries.
"I'm okay." The girl, or rather woman said, up close, Valance could tell she was only a few years younger than herself. "Who are you?" She asked.
"Valance d'Chevalier, Captain of Celestial Phoenix, a squad of magic knights from the Clover Kingdom," Valance explained gently. "What's your name?"
"F-Fiore." The girl said softly. "My name is Fiore d'Quincy." Her brows then furrowed as she looked up at Valance. "If you're a d'Chevalier, why are you working for the Clover Kingdom?"
Valance blinked, caught off guard. She did not expect this girl to immediately know the d'Chevaliers originated from the Ace Kingdom. It meant Fiore must also be from there.
"...it's a long story, but I am here to help you." Valance reassured quickly, "Celestial magic: Pleiades," four stars spun around Valance, following the path her finger drew in the air and throwing four cloaked mages away from her when they tried to tackle her.
Zen hurried to her side, "Valance we have to retreat. These mages won't stop coming. Lunar magic: white frost," Zen threw out his hand and covered some charging mages with a layer of pristine white ice.
"No can do." The Ace Kingdom mage was suddenly next to them, smiling at them innocently, but her eyes were oddly blank and unnerving. "We cannot allow you to take her. Milady would be highly displeased if you were to just whisk her away. And the mages are being taken care of."
She pointed to the far side of the chamber they were in, and Zen stiffened in alarm when he saw the shadows come alive and pull away from the wall, creating a mist-like substance of shadow and smoke, and in the mist were creatures out of nightmares. Creatures that looked like nightmarish versions of wolves and bears, serpents, their claws, and fangs sharp, their scales and fur covered in blood and gore.
There was a pause, a harsh silence filled with fear as all the occupants in the room slowly noted the expanding black mist and the creatures that dwelled in it. The silence didn't last however, the creatures exploded out, the black mist clinging to their bodies as they launched themselves at the cloaked mages, tearing the mages apart with their claws and fangs, reveling in the screams of their prey; all while ignoring the magic knights.
The magic knights slowly gathered together, not wanting to attract the attention of the creatures as they tore into their enemies.
"Why aren't they attacking us?" Calleo asked, her eyes wide, face pale as she watched more blood fly into the air. It was sickening but she couldn't look away.
"Do you want them to attack you?" The redhead asked, looking genuinely curious. "They aren't mulling us since Milady told them not to."
"Milady?" Isolde asked, giving the girl a wary look, grimoire still out.
Valance shuddered and glanced around, yes, she knew exactly whose magic this was. "Adriane." She said automatically, managing not to jump when a chuckle sounded from behind her.
She turned slowly to see a beautiful woman walk out of the shadows, she had flawless fair skin, hair the color of pure dark silver, and large, dusk-colored eyes framed by thick, dark lashes, her rose pink lips pulled up into an amused smirk. "It's been a long time, Valance." She said as she practically glided across the floor, her movements flawless and smooth. "You look well."
"So do you," Valance said back. It was true. Adriane was dressed in simple, dark close-fitting pants and a jacket, but she still managed to make it look... more, especially with the way the clothes hugged at her curves. "Your pets look as lovely as ever." She said in reference to the shadow creatures that were tearing people limb from limb.
"They were hungry. What was I supposed to do? Keep them leashed?" Adriane asked sarcastically, sharing a quick grin with Valance before getting serious.
"What are you doing here?" Adriane asked, completely ignoring the rest of the magic knights from the Clover Kingdom in favor of focusing on Valance.
"We could ask you the same thing," Sophia said before Valance could say anything, clearly not liking the idea of being ignored. She straightened her shoulders and raised her head so that her amber eyes would meet Adriane's blue ones. "Why are mages from the Ace Kingdom here? You are trespassing on Clover Kingdom territory." From her tone, it was clear that she was taking charge and demanding answers instead of asking for one and the woman's eyes narrowed dangerously.
Valance immediately shoved Sophia back, shooting her a glare when it looked like the Princess was going to protest. That was not good. Adriane was known to be lenient in most situations, but with who Sophia was, she needed to pull Adriane's attention away from Sophia before it was too-
"Celande's daughter? You look just like your mother." Adriane said, there was no clear change in her tone to the magic knights but Valance winced, she had heard a difference and it wasn't for the better. No. Things were going to go downhill fast.
"Of course, I am her daughter, after all, Princess Sophia Kira-Clover," Sophia said proudly.
"Are you stupid?" The red-head asked, looking at Sophia, "I wouldn't boast-"
"Charis," Adriane said sternly and the redhead promptly shut her mouth, understanding the unsaid order.
Adriane sighed before shifting her attention back to Valance, "We came here to investigate the dungeon and found her," She nodded in Fiore's direction, causing the girl to flinch, "And a few others guarded pretty closely by those mages in the cloaks. We broke them free... but things got a bit out of hand..."
"More and more of them kept appearing," Charis explained "and this one, ran away before we could get her to safety."
"I wasn't sure if you guys were good people!" Fiore protested, "Everyone just started fighting and I did the first thing I could think of and ran."
"Which probably saved your life," Adriane sighed, looking frustrated. "After you ran off, some other, stronger mages appeared and started killing the other captives before disappearing again."
"What?!" Fiore's voice came out as a high pitch shriek as she paled and Adriane nodded, her eyes looking around at the sea of shredded cloaks and blood.
Valance followed her gaze, swallowing thickly as she took in the scene of blood and gore. Adriane's nightmare creatures had finished with their enemies and were now looking at her group hungrily. No wonder it was suddenly so quiet and no one was trying to attack them. They were all dead and eaten.
"If I had to guess, those new mages must have been their bosses, they were all wearing red cloaks instead of black ones," Adriane said. "Probably figured the captives weren't enough trouble to keep alive." She looked Fiore over and the girl shook. "When we get back to the Ace Kingdom, can you answer more questions?"
"Hold on." Zen suddenly straightened up and faced Adriane, "I want to take this woman to Clover so that we can get her wounds treated and properly taken care of."
"How noble of you," Adriane rolled her eyes, "But my group found her first so we're taking her to the Ace Kingdom."
"And you're coming with us too." Zen interrupted, "I'm sure Lord Julius will be thrilled to have some Ace mages to talk to."
"Oh, are we?" Adriane tilted her head up and glared at him, her eyes narrowing as she took the time to take in his features. She must have seen something that surprised her because a moment later her eyes widened and she took a step closer, making Zen squirm uncomfortably as she searched for something before stepping back again. Her gaze once again landed on Valance, and she hated the calculating look in Adriane's eyes. That was a very dangerous look.
"He's right," Valance spoke up, looking at Adriane and hoping to distract her from what she found out. "You guys should come to the Clover Kingdom where we can sort this out. I can already say that Lord Julius would want to know that there's a dungeon that connects the Clover and Ace Kingdoms."
"I'd also rather go to the Clover Kingdom," Fiore piped up hesitantly. "The only reason I got caught by these people is because I was running away from someone in the Ace Kingdom."
"That settles it then. You aren't going to the Ace Kingdom." Zen reassured Fiore before glaring at Adriane, daring her to challenge him, which she gladly did.
"Excuse me? If anything, that means this is an Ace Kingdom issue. Especially if she was running from someone in the Ace Kingdom. We will deal with it, no outsiders involved." Adriane snapped back.
Valance stared at Adriane and Zen as they started to argue stunned. This dungeon trip had gone to hell faster than she could even believe. Was her luck really that bad? But who would have ever imagined this happening? She also did have to admit to herself that she was happy to see Adriane, despite the circumstances. The two had been close friends despite their age gap and Valance had missed the older woman after she had been exiled from their home.
"You're not going to let them take me to Ace, are you?" Fiore asked, walking over slowly to her, looking anxiously between the two arguing people.
"We'll take you to Clover with us for sure," Valance reassured her kindly. "They found you first, but if you don't want to, we won't let them force you to go back to Ace."
Fiore let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you. I think they mean well but..." Her silvery-blue eyes went to the black mist and the creatures that dwelled in it; "I don't want to be their next meal."
Valance let out a soft laugh at that, "I don't think you have to worry. At the rate those two are going, I'm sure Zen is about to be their next meal."
"It's never fun to see the nightmares eat," Charis said, causing both of the other two to jump. "I'd much rather see Adriane interact with Qrow, she's always much less serious in that situation."
"Who's Qrow?" Fiore asked curiously.
Charis opened her mouth to answer, but before she could, an explosion tore through the dungeon, the force of it making Valance fearful that the dungeon would collapse in on their heads.
"Damn, it..." Adriane swore, straightening up, her argument with Zen forgotten, the snarls of her creatures ripping through the chamber. They were clearly eager to tear into more poor souls.
"Adriane!" An Ace Kingdom mage sprinted into the chamber, faltering slightly when he saw the Clover mages. "These cloaked freaks have reinforcements; they're coming from all directions. If we don't leave now, they'll block off the exit back home."
"I see..." Adriane said, looking around with a calculating look in her eyes, different scenarios quickly flying through her head as she weighed each option before sighing. "You should retreat back to the Clover Kingdom," Adriane finally said, turning to Valance, much to her surprise. "And take Fiore with you."
"You were just insisting that she go back to Ace with you," Valance said, confused.
"The situation changed. It's more important to get her out without injuries than to risk needlessly getting her hurt by forcing our way through." Adriane said. "Besides, we'll see each other again." She added that with a smirk, and Valance felt unsettled.
"What do you mean?" Valance asked nervously.
"The Clover Kingdom should be expecting a visit from the Ace Kingdom soon," Adriane shrugged. "I can't wait to tell Qrow. I'm sure he'll have a heart attack."
"If we don't die trying to get back," Charis said with a shrug and Adriane gave her an exasperated look.
There was another explosion and one of the pillars fell, causing her group to shuffle uncomfortably.
"Don't die, Adriane," Valance said, not knowing what else to say as she started to herd her team back the way they came, avoiding her mist and random limbs the best she could.
"As if I would," Adriane huffed after her. "You take care of yourself too. I'd like to have a proper talk next time we meet."
"I'd like that." Valance agreed, even though she felt like there would be hell to pay in the future.
Why did she feel like something bad would soon begin?
And that's the end of chapter 4! What did you guys think? I know it was kinda hectic. Let me know in the reviews! Feedback is always welcome
