Author's Note: Couldn't get back to this fanfiction without adding some Leverage Ships to it! So here's my favorite :D
"Nate, man, I've got a problem," Hardison said one evening as he and Nathan Ford were sitting at the latter's kitchen table. Hardison had been happily clicking away at his computer, but now he closed to the top and leveled Nate with a stare.
Nate raised his eyebrows. "What's the problem, Hardison?" he asked, refraining from reminding him of the rule of 'don't bring up a problem if you can't fix it'.
"It's Parker," Hardison replied with a deep sigh. "She doesn't know what mistletoe is."
Unable to help himself, Nate snorted out a laugh. Hardison sent him a betrayed glance. "It isn't funny, man!" he cried, frustrated. "It ruins all my plans!"
"What have I told you about having backups for backups, Hardison?" Nate asked, giving him a serious look. "If your original plan isn't going to work, go to the next one. And the next one."
"But they all include mistletoe," Hardison groaned, planting his face on the table with a thunk and an "owwww..." He lifted his chin again and looked at Nate pitifully. "I thought that you'd be able to help me."
Nate help up his hands. "When it comes to you and Parker, you two are on your own," he said. "Talk to Sophie. Or Eliot. Or heck, talk to Parker! Just tell her what mistletoe is."
"But that'd spoil everything!" Hardison cried. He let out a deep sigh and put his head back on the table. "Forget it, man. I'll just ditch the whole romantic Christmas kiss attempt." He sighed again. "I guess she won't know what she missed out on."
Hardison got up from the table and picked up his laptop, wandering dejectedly out of the room. Nate watched him with a contemplative expression on his face, and then picked up his phone.
He had something he needed to do.
A few days later, Hardison had decorated their Leverage offices with an insane amount of tinsel, lights, and other Christmas paraphernalia. Eliot walked into the room only to sneeze. "Did you get a real tree?" he demanded, wiping at his nose. "Dangit, Hardison, I'm allergic to half the stuff in here!"
Hardison just laughed at him and Sophie handed him a tissue box. She, for one, was loving all of the Christmas spirit.
The Leverage Team wasn't exactly having a Christmas party, but they were spending time the five of them in their office with Christmas decorations and music, so it was close enough. After the five of them had eaten Eliot's delicious homemade dinner, they settled around the couches to drink and talk.
Parker was stretched comfortably on the back of the couch, her head at Hardison's shoulder and her feet at Eliot's. After a little bit, she nudged Hardison. "Come on."
Hardison looked up and raised an eyebrow. "Where am I going, babe?"
"Just come on," Parker repeated, pushing at him with her nose like a nuzzling cat and then slipping off the couch. Eliot raised his eyebrow in Nate's direction, but the older man just shrugged, cryptic as ever.
Curiosity getting the better of him, Hardison set down his drink with a sigh and got up to follow Parker. She lead him to the hallway, and then stopped. Hardison looked at her curiously.
And then Parker smirked and pointed upward. "Mistletoe..." she sang, grinning at him.
Hardison looked up and his mouth fell open a little as he saw the small green and red sprig hanging above their heads. He returned his gaze to Parker, still shocked. "But you- I thought you- I thought you didn't know what mistletoe was?"
"Pfft, silly." Parker rolled her eyes. "Everyone knows what mistletoe is."
A wide grin broke over Hardison's face and he stepped closer, framing Parker's cheeks with his hands. "So," he said, leaning down. "You know what to do?"
Parker wound her fingers into his shirt and pulled him down for a kiss.
Back in the living room, Eliot settled back down on the couch from where he'd been craning his neck to see what was going on. He looked over at Nate, smirking. "You told her what mistletoe was, didn't you?"
Nate shrugged and slung his arm around Sophie's shoulders. "I can neither confirm or deny that."
