Hello Readers I'm back again for the next chapter of this story. I happen to be posting while on vacation in Vermont, USA. To any of my readers who live in the state of Vermont, I have to say how absolutely beautiful your state is. It almost feels like my home state of Wisconsin, except it has beautiful mountains. I'm going to have to come back to ski here in the winter. Give me a review of where I should go skiing if you are from Vermont.
Let's get back to the story and see how the Paw Patrol responds to the threat of Sweetie, the new Queen of Barkingburg. Enjoy!
Ryder's POV:
The next morning, I decided to get to work on defensive measures. I called Mayor Goodway and informed her of the situation and my plans to prepare for evacuation. I called the police and fire departments and instructed them to prepare their city evacuation plans and that they were to be put on high alert. I also instructed them to be ready for when I gave the evacuation order. I told them we would handle getting the citizens of the city ready. I called the hospital and other emergency departments in the town. I told the hospital to begin preparing for evacuation. I called Robo-Dog and had him bring the Aircraft Carrier HQ to Adventure Bay, along with backup.
I then pulled out my pup pad and pressed a button.

Marshall's POV:
*beep beep* "Paw Patrol to the Lookout!"
My head shot up and I bolted out of my pup's house. I shook sleep away as Ryder called for the Paw Patrol. I ran to the elevator with Everest on my heels. Suddenly I tripped and careened into the other pups. They groaned as we separated,
"Sorry pups, you all ok?"
"What, no joke today, Marshall?" Skye asked
"It's too early for that" I said, causing the pups to laugh.
The elevator started up and we got to the top in our uniforms, we all jumped out and got into our usual positions.
"Paw Patrol, ready for action Ryder sir" Chase announced stomping his front right paw.
Ryder stood before us with a grim look on him, "Pups, I called you this early because we have a grave threat upon Adventure Bay."
We gasped and all of us started asking questions at once,
"What's happening Ryder?" I asked.
"Who is the threat from?" Chase asked.
"Where is this threat?" Skye asked.
"How serious is it?" Rocky asked.
"What about the citizens of Adventure Bay?" Rubble asked.
"Why is someone attacking Adventure Bay?" Zuma asked.
"When is the threat coming?" Everest asked.
Ryder held up a hand to silence us, "I know you all have questions; I will do my best to answer them but first I will tell you what I know." He said and brought the mission screen down.
Ryder held up a piece of paper, "last night, during the dinner, I stepped outside to get some fresh air. I was approached by a hooded figure and given this letter. It is from the new Queen of Barkingburg, Sweetie."
As soon as Sweetie was mentioned the air became so tense you could physically feel it around you.
"My worst fears have been confirmed, Sweetie has been behind everything that has happened in the past year and a half."
"WHAT!?" We all screamed
"She is the reason for Sylvia?! It was her plan for Sylvia to turn me against the Paw Patrol?!" Chase cried.
"And for taking Skye and Everest?!" I growled
"And for abducting the kids of Adventure Bay?!" Rubble snarled
"For causing war in Crystal Cove and Detmold?!" Rocky spat spitefully
Ryder again held up a hand and we all quieted down, "yes, she is responsible for all those events. She admitted to them in this letter. But now, she has declared something more sinister… she plans to obliterate Adventure Bay."
We all gasped again, "she destroyed the mansion with the missiles when we were in Detmold, so she has the capacity to turn this town to dust. She could attack at any moment; I've been keeping an eye on the radar for any signs of missiles or threats from Barkingburg. So far nothing yet."
"What do we do Ryder? We are ready to defend our town" Chase declared and the rest of us joined in agreement.
"We need to prepare for this event, I've informed Mayor Goodway, the police, fire, and EMT departments of this. We need to get people prepared to leave at any moment and we need to have our evacuation plan ready." Ryder announced
"Chase and Everest, you will need to go to the citizens outside of the main town and have them evacuate to the town until further notice." Ryder instructed
"These paws Protect the Law" Chase announced.
"Ice or snow I'm ready to go" Everest declared.
"Marshall and Skye, you will both alert the people in town here to prepare for imminent evacuation. Instruct them to only pack the essentials."
"This pup's got fly" she announced doing her signature flip.
"I'm ready for a red-hot rescue" I declared.
"Rocky and Rubble, you will go to the different facilities of Adventure Bay, like the power plant, train station, electrical station, and similar facilities to help them make necessary plans and arrangements to shut down and prevent unnecessary damage when the attack happens. You will also need to help them prepare to evacuate.
"Rubble on the evacuation doubled" he declared.
"Green means Go!" Rocky announced.
"Zuma, you will inform Captain Turbot of the situation and have him help with the evacuation. You will also help to prepare the ports of Adventure Bay for mass evacuation."
"Let's dive in" Zuma announced
"I will inform Tracker about what's happening, he will want to help. You will need to keep calm in this situation so others will do the same. I have Robo-dog bringing the Carrier HQ to Adventure Bay with Liberty on board. Once she is here, she will be assisting you, Marshall and Skye, with preparing the public for evacuation" Ryder instructed.
"Once you have finished your assignments we will meet back at town hall. I will be remaining here to keep an eye on Barkingburg. I will alert you if anything happens." Ryder informed the group.
"Complete your tasks and we will make it through this. Remind the citizens that this is just preparatory measures for something that is coming. We just don't know when. This is the biggest mission we have ever had. Let go Pups!" Ryder announced, we cheered and dove one-by-one down the slide to our vehicles.
Chase and Everest drove off outside of the town. Zuma launched into the bay towards Captain Turbot's Lighthouse. Rocky and Rubble took off over the bridge and I joined Skye as we took to the suburbs of town.
We decided to work from opposite ends of town and move to the middle of town.
I turned on my PA system to make the evacuation announcement. "Attention citizens of Adventure Bay, please prepare for imminent Evacuation. This means to prepare yourself to evacuate. We are not Evacuating yet. Prepare only necessary supplies and items. All other things that are not essential to survival please don't pack them, leave them behind. Please be alert for the evacuation order. This is not a drill; this is a real situation." I announced.
The doors of homes flung open and there were screams and cries as I made my announcement. "Keep calm and make preparations, there will be help from the fire and police departments if the order is given. Until then pack the necessities and wait for further instructions". I moved on slowly repeating the same instructions throughout town.

Ryder's POV:
After the pups left, I went back to work. I checked in with Robo-dog and found he was en route and was an hour out. I looked at the radar for any alerts or new information. I checked with the police department, fire department, hospital, and EMT to make sure they had started on their plans.
I then pulled out my pup pad and pressed a button. It took a moment before the call was answered.
"How you guys doing over there? Are you safe?" I asked
"We are still good Ryder, just monitoring" the pup on the other end said.
"Notify me as soon as something happens or if you find anything out, Ella and Tuck. If things get too dangerous, I want you to pull out" I ordered
"You got it Ryder" Ella said
"We will be safe, and let you know of anything" Tuck said
"Be safe pups" I said and put my pup pad away once Tuck and Ella hung up.
I took a deep breath, they are the best in the business Ryder. Don't worry about them. They were trained by the best and can use their meteor powers when needed. Yet, I'm still worried about them.
I shook my head and went back to the current situation. I pull up a view of the periscope. I looked towards Barkingburg but still did not see anything suspicious. After I checked on the pups on my pup pad, starting with Chase and Everest.
"Chase" I called.
"Yes Ryder Sir?" He responded.
"How are you and Everest doing?"
"Good, we are helping farmer Al and Yumi with their animals" Chase reported.
"Good, let me know if you need help" I said
"Will do Ryder Sir. Chase out" Chase said and hung up.
Then I moved on to Marshall. After a minute or two then Marshall picked up and he was breathing heavily
"Hi Ryder, what's up?" He asked breathlessly
"Everything ok Marshall?" I asked
"Yes, Maynard the raccoon just got spooked by my truck horn and it caused him to go crazy. It's under control now. Otherwise, Skye and I are doing well."
"Alright, let me know if you need help and I'll come to help" I said
"I'll do that, but right now I've got to go" he said
"Ok, keep up the good work" I said
"Thanks Ryder. Miss, hold on let me help you" I heard him say as he hung up.
Then I checked up on Rocky and Rubble.
"Hey Ryder, what's happening?" Rocky asked
"Just checking in, How is it going with you and Rubble?" I asked
"Rubble and I split up to cover more ground. I'm at the power plant going over their evacuation and emergency shutdown plans. Rubble is at the electrical station doing the same. I will be going to the recycling plant after and Rubble will be going to the water treatment plant when he is done." Rocky reported
"Keep in contact with each other and stay safe. Keep up the good work" I said
"Will do Ryder" Rocky said and hung up
Then I called Zuma, to see how his mission was going.
"Hey Ryder, what's up?" he asked
"How is going out there?" I asked
"Good, I just finished up a quick rescue. Wally got himself stuck on the small beach on the small beach on the island behind Captain Turbot's Lighthouse home. Then I informed him of the situation. He said that he will help in the evacuation with the Flounder as well. He will be moving the flounder into the port and staying there so that he is ready at a moment's notice." Zuma reported "I'm on my way to help him get ready" Zuma added
"That is great, keep up the good work Zuma"
"Thanks Ryder, Zuma out" and then he hung up.
I went back to the radar and plans for the evacuation of the lookout and Adventure Bay.

Ella's P.O.V:
Tuck and I sat upon a hill overlooking a small lagoon that neighbored the castle of Barkingburg. I sat with my binoculars and continued to look at the castle. It had a dreary atmosphere surrounding it. suddenly Tuck's pup tag sounded quietly and we answered it.
"Tuck and Ella here" He answered
"How you guys doing over there? Are you safe?" Ryder asked
"We are still good Ryder, just monitoring" Tuck answered.
"Notify me as soon as something happens, or if you find anything out, Ella and Tuck. If things get too dangerous, I want you to pull out" Ryder ordered
"You got it Ryder" I said
"We will be safe, and let you know of anything" Tuck said
"Be safe pups" Ryder said and Tuck ended the call. I heard a big sigh from him as I went back to the lookout spot.
"We're not even in Barkingburg for 6 hours and already he does a checkup" Tuck said half laughing
I look back at him with a shocked and annoyed glare "He is just worried about us. Be happy that we have someone like that Tuck. We are on our own after all. Ryder is the only person like that in your lives" I said
"Woah Ella. Calm down, I was not complaining about him checking up on us, I'm grateful that he cares about us so much. I just found it funny that he has that innate sense about where we are and what we are doing. I was going to call him after we did some initial surveillance." Tuck defended as he settled next to me.
We had just gotten to the city limits a few hours ago and we were able to do some city surveillance. We had to hide all our gear and our bikes in a hedgerow. The city was under military control and there were guarded checkpoints at every street that led out of the city. We were able to sneak in and move around without being noticed.
Then we made our way up this hill. We were able to use the forest to cover us and we happened to find a small clearing hidden by large brush bushes. It was the perfect place to hide our bikes and gear. We had just started looking into the castle when Ryder called.
"So, what do you see in there sis?" Tuck asked as he got out his binoculars.
"Nothing pretty" I sighed "There are big brutes that are working these poor townsfolk to death. I have seen what happens when they slack in any way. Look over there, someone stumbled from exhaustion" I said and we both looked over towards the left outer grounds of the castle.
A lady tripped over a rock carrying a crate. The guard near her grabbed a tassel-like whip that had multiple strands on it. The man raised the tassel and struck it down on the back of the woman. He did that at least three times before two young men came to her aid. One stopped the guard and the other helped the woman up. The guard threw up his hands in a mix of anger and exasperation then stomped off shouting something at the men. The two young men had to support the woman as she half staggered, half dragged herself along. She had noticeable scars across her back.
"They are being tortured and worked to the bone" I gasped.
"It's a work camp" Tuck spat in disgust. "The sad thing is that they are not our mission" He added
I looked in surprise "Tuck, we have to do something for them" I insisted
"We can't and you know that. Our mission was clear. We are to gather information on the missiles. Find out when and if they will be fired. Then we report the information back to Ryder. We are not to make contact or be discovered. I'm sorry Ella, if things were different, then I'd be all for a rescue mission. Ryder placed me in charge of the mission, you will follow orders." He lectured
"I Know That! But still… they are destroying those people. I said angrily
"You have a big heart sis, that is what I think makes you the best" Tuck said giving me a friendly push.
I returned the push. Tuck then stood up and looked through his binoculars. "Look, missile silos, and a lot of them" he said pointing with his paw.
I looked just to the right side of the castle grounds and there was an area that had high walls around it and inside were rows of enormous hatches or what looked like tops of aircraft hangars. As I looked around, I saw guards walking around with Pads. They were looking at panels at each door.
"I'm going in for a closer look" Tuck standing up.
I looked back to see him getting into his Mighty Pup gear. I got up and went over to him. "I don't think it's safe to go in there Tuck" I said
"When is it ever safe sis? We do dangerous missions all the time. What's different about this one?" He asked
"We don't normally go up against military operations. Not to mention the giant missiles that are in those holes. They expect things like this" I said
"What… a pup that is the size of a coin? They won't even see me coming. Not to mention I have the strength of my full size. If they did see me, I would take them out with a single hit. Besides, I'm going on stealth recon, they won't find me. You'll be able to see me and keep tabs on me. I'll get out of there if I can't handle the situation, you know that. Don't worry about it" Tuck tried assuring me.
"I'm your sister, I always worry about you" I said looking at him. He smiled and nuzzled me affectionately.
"I'll be fine, but thanks for thinking of me" He said and walked towards the edge of the cliff we were camping out. He smiled back at me, faced the castle, and took a deep breath. Then he jumped into the valley.
I ran to the edge of the cliff and looked down to see him plummeting into the crevice. Suddenly he sprouted a glider about 20 yards down and glided up the other side of the valley and towards the Castle of Barkingburg.
The Paw Patrol has mobilized, including Tuck and Ella in Barkingburg. The pups are preparing for evacuation and Tuck and Ella are doing recon and surveillance, will their plan work or is Sweetie already a few steps ahead of the Paw Patrol? Will the Paw Patrol succeed and beat Sweetie or will Sweetie follow through and destroy the Paw Patrol, It all starts now. Stay tuned for what happens next.
