At home, Arthur went off to his room to put his things away while Jane comes in.
"Thora, can we talk for a minute before I go meet David?" asked Jane.
"Of course, dear," said Thora.
"He came over to my sister's very upset about something. He have been quiet on the way home," said Jane.
"It probably have something to do with friendship issues," said D.W.
"Have you tried talking to him about it?" asked Thora.
"I asked him earlier, but he didn't want to talk about it at all," said Jane. "I can see a big change in hm."
"I've noticed that. Maybe I can try to get him to open up to me," said Thora.
"Okay, thank you," said Jane. "That's not like him. He always tell me about anything."
"There must be a reason. I do notice he gets sensitive when you've tried getting him to talk about what was going on," said Kate.
"You have a good point," said Jane.
"Francine was the only one who have been on his side," said D.W.
"She was a big help, too," said Jane.
After Jane left, Arthur was watching TV with his sisters. He tries to do this to remain calm when Thora comes around.
"Dinner's almost ready," said Thora. "Your father got milkshakes prepared for you kids. You can have them after dinner."
"Okay," said Kate.
"Why don't you girls start going to the kitchen while I talk to Arthur?" asked Thora.
D.W. and Kate stared at each other and got up for the kitchen.
"Is everything alright?" asked Thora. "Your mother is concerned about you. You can always talk to me like you did before."
"I don't want to talk about it," said Arthur.
That was when he left for the kitchen to avoid the subject. Thora can see what Kate was saying. The girls were nearby.
"I knew that was going to happen," said Kate.
"Me, too," said D.W.
In the kitchen, Thora made milkshakes for the kids. Arthur managed to help her out. He enjoys them. After dinner, Thora said, "Does anyone wants a piece of cake your father left us?"
"Sure," said D.W.
"Do you mind if D.W. and I can share one?" asked Kate.
"That's fine by me," said Thora.
"Me, too," said D.W.
At that time, Arthur was starting to feel sick to his stomach all of sudden.
"I would, but I think I'll pass. I can feel an upset stomach coming on. May I just leave the table?" asked Arthur.
"Of course, dear," said Thora.
He left the table and went upstairs to go change into his pjs.
After the girls finished their dessert, Thora said, "Why don't you both get changed up and you can go watch TV for awhile?"
"Okay," said Kate.
The girls came up to go change. Kate was getting ready to brush her teeth when Arthur was coming around.
"I'm just coming in to take a Tum," said Arthur.
"You can come in," said Kate. "I'm just brushing my teeth."
Arthur came in to take a Tum. "I might as well take the bottle to bed with me. You can tell Grandma I'm heading to bed early."
"Okay," said Kate.
Kate came down.
"Just in time. Our show is about to start," said D.W.
"How's Arthur?" asked Thora.
"He said that he was going to bed early. He just took a Tum while I was brushing my teeth," said Kate.
"Alright. I'm going to see him for a moment," said Thora.
She went upstairs while Jane came home.
"Hi. Grandma is just letting us watching our program," said D.W.
"That's fine," said Jane. "Did you girls brush your teeth?"
"Yes, right before we watched our program," said Kate.
"How long is the program?" asked Jane.
"It will be done in 15 minutes," said Kate.
"No problem. You girls can stay up until then," said Jane. "Where is your grandmother?"
"Grandma had just went upstairs to see Arthur for a moment," said Kate.
"He started with an upset stomach after dinner," said D.W.
That was when Thora came down. "Hello, dear."
"David will be home soon. Thanks again for staying with the kids," said Jane.
"No problem," said Thora.
"How did things go tonight?" asked Jane.
"Everything's fine," said Thora. "Arthur was just starting to feel sick to his stomach after dinner."
"The girls were just telling me," said Jane.
"He was already asleep when I went up to see him," said Thora.
"It happened after we had milkshakes," said Kate.
"I wonder that's what causing it," said D.W.
"You have a decent point," said Thora.
"Were you able to find out about was going on?" asked Jane.
"No. When I asked him, he still didn't want to talk about it. I can see Kate was saying. He gets sensitive when we ask questions," said Thora. "I'm sure he'll open up when he's ready."
When their program ended, Jane came up with the girls to get them settled in bed when she saw Arthur rushing into the bathroom closing the door. After she left, he had just came out. She saw how pale he looked. She went to him while he was getting into bed.
"Are you feeling alright, honey? Your sister told me you had an upset stomach," said Jane.
"I usually feel better after taking a Tum, but it didn't work," said Arthur.
She suspected he was running with a fever by looking at him. She went to get a thermometer and checked it. "I had a feeling you got a fever."
"It started happening after we had milkshakes and I think that's what my stomach hurt," said Arthur.
"Are you getting to be lactose intolerance?" asked Jane.
"The other dairy products don't bother me though," said Arthur. "I've had milkshakes before and it never affected me."
"I know," said Jane.
"I think I'll stay away from it for a bit to be on the safe side," said Arthur.
"I don't blame you," said Jane.
"I turned down the dessert because I didn't want to risk my stomach to get upset even more," said Arthur.
"I understand," said Jane. "If you need me, you can come get me."
David came home by 10:30 pm, showered, and got into his pjs. By the time he was done, Arthur had rushed into the bathroom closing the door.
Jane almost didn't see him until David said, "I saw Arthur going to the bathroom after I came out from the shower. Is he okay?"
"The milkshake caused him to have an upset stomach tonight," said Jane.
"Oh, really? That never happened to him in the past," said David.
"He said the same thing," said Jane. "He added he's going to stay from it for awhile."
"It's better to be safe than sorry," said David.
"He also had a fever," said Jane.
Every time Arthur was trying to sleep, his upset stomach made him several more trips to the bathroom most of the night until 2:00 am.
