A confused Poppy glanced at the two rolls of wrapping paper Viva had put on her table. "Veev, are you sure this is a good idea—"
"Uh, duh, of course I think this is a fantastamazing idea!" Viva gave Poppy an exuberant grin, picking up and handing her one of the rolls. "Something that I did every year at the golf course."
"Every…year?"
Viva nodded. "I did it to Clay with the intention to surprise him and mess with him. The first year I did that, he was unimpressed, annoyed, and told me I was going to end up suffocating myself doing it one of these days." Viva paused to laugh. "Didn't stop me from doing it though."
Poppy unraveled an entire roll of wrapping paper and set it on the floor. "That seriously sounds like something Branch would say to me if I did it to him."
"Right?" Viva grabbed another roll of wrapping paper and unraveled it before she put it on the floor right next to Poppy's. She turned her attention to her younger sister. "Do we need any more wrapping paper or is this enough?"
"We definitely need more of it," Poppy said after some careful examination. "And we definitely need someone to help out with wrapping us because we can't do it ourselves."
Viva supposed Poppy was right. "Wanna go and ask Floyd and John Dory to help us?"
A pause. Poppy grinned and nodded exuberantly, the two of them picking up their wrapping paper and exiting Poppy's pod. It didn't take Poppy and Viva all that long to locate John Dory and Floyd, finding the pair relaxing inside of Rhonda. Deciding to take them by surprise, the both of them rushed straight into Rhonda, dragging their wrapping paper behind them.
"Guys, guys…" Viva stated, choosing to be the first to say something, grabbing the attention of Floyd and John Dory and causing them to look up at them.
Another silence hit, John Dory breaking it. "Woah…What's with all the wrapping paper?"
"We're going to wrap ourselves in it!" Viva announced.
John Dory and Floyd looked at one another, equally confused. A pause. Floyd broke it when he elected to speak up first. "Why?"
"To surprise Branch and Clay," Poppy responded with an exuberant grin. She put her wrapping paper on the floor in front of Floyd. Viva did the same with John Dory.
"What? What for?"
"Holiday tradition of mine that I asked Poppy to start taking part in," Viva spoke up again. "Every year for the last ten years, I had a Putt Putt Troll of my choice wrap me up in wrapping paper just so that I could both surprise and mess with Clay. Let me tell you: he doesn't like it."
Floyd stared at her out of confusion. "If he doesn't like it, why would you keep doing it?"
"Just for the sake of having fun and to see him get unimpressed every year," Viva responded with a grin. "And also because I love him and know he loves me."
"And I want to see if Branch has the same reaction," Poppy added. "So help me and Viva by wrapping us up in the wrapping paper we brought with us."
"Are you two sure that's safe?" John Dory asked out of confusion, breaking a silence, scratching his head, exchanging a quick glance with Floyd. "Or a good idea?"
Poppy elected to pretend that she didn't hear that. "We can't wrap ourselves in it. We need help. Floyd, you wrap me in the wrapping paper I brought. John, you wrap Viva in hers."
"Also, please tape it incorrectly," Viva added with a grin. "Makes things all the more fantastamazing."
A pause. Floyd and John looked at one another. They really had no choice, did they. Floyd bent down to start wrapping Poppy in hers whilst John Dory went to get some tape and put it down on the floor before he started working on wrapping Viva up in hers.
Needless to say, they'd managed to finish five minutes before Branch and Clay entered Rhonda. The both of them confused. Worried.
"Have you guys seen…" Branch started to say before pausing, him and Clay finding themselves standing there and staring at the poorly wrapped presents in between John Dory and Floyd.
Things staying silent for a moment, Floyd looked between a speechless Branch and Clay. "You know…these presents look an awful lot like Poppy and Viva," he said, trying his best to pretend he was joking.
"This one is for you, Clay," John Dory said, gesturing to the Viva shaped present.
Floyd pointed at the Poppy shaped present. "And this one is for you, Branch."
A pause. Branch and Clay shared a confused look with one another.
'Please, no,' Branch thought.
'Not this again,' Clay groaned internally.
They could only stand there for a moment, causing John Dory and Floyd to gesture towards the presents again.
Another, albeit brief, pause. Clay decided to be the one to go first, stepping towards the Viva shaped present. "Viva, please unwrap yourself right now."
Branch followed suit, moving to stand beside Clay. "Same with you, Poppy."
"No," both presents said simultaneously, annoyed that their idea seemed to be ruined.
"It's not fantastamazing or fun if you don't unwrap us," the Viva shaped present added, pointing at herself and then Poppy.
A deadpan look made itself apparent on Clay's face. "We order the two of you to unwrap yourselves."
"And I order you two to unwrap us," the Poppy shaped present responded. "No refusing."
A pause. An unsure Branch and Clay looked over their shoulders at Floyd and John Dory, hoping for assistance from either of them.
"Guys, please just unwrap them," Floyd said with a soft sigh, the first to speak following another silence. "We don't want the already occurring argument to really escalate."
Branch and Clay softly groaned simultaneously, turning their attention back towards the still wrapped presents that were shaped like their girlfriends. A pause. Branch motioned for Clay to go first. Clay let out a sigh as he stepped towards the Viva shaped present and grabbed a hold of some loose, poorly taped wrapping paper from her arm, ripping it all off of her in an instant. Branch did the exact same thing to Poppy. Except a little bit more carefully.
A silence hit when no one said anything, breaking when Branch and Clay gave Poppy and Viva, both of whom were pouting, matching unimpressed glares.
"You guys…" Clay started.
Branch finished, "…are going to suffocate yourselves doing that one of these days."
