Obi-Wan was racing back to Coruscant after hearing about the strange fighter aircraft in the sky and the report that Anakin had not responded to the council or Palpatine. He flew to Padme's apartment and hovered outside it. Artoo and Threepio were waiting. Obi-Wan stepped on to the veranda. Artoo was beeping and crying furiously.
"What is wrong with him? "Obi-Wan asked. 'He detected a power surge right here when that fighter aircraft appeared. Master Anakin and Miss Padme are no where to be found. Artoo thinks they were teleported off this planet to another. "Threepio explained. "Padme is pregnant, and Anakin is the father. "Threepio continued. Obi-wan ran into the apartment and checked the landing pad. Padme's starship was still there. "Come with me to the jedi temple now! We have to tell the council about this! "Obi-wan shouted. Obi-wan got back into his jedi starfighter and flew to the temple.
Later at the temple Obi-wan and the droids stood before the jedi council. "Artoo detected a power surge in Padme's apartment when that air fighter appeared over Coruscant. He believes Anakin and Padme were teleported off world to some place else. "Obi-Wan explained. "Has a relationship with Padme, Skywalker does? "Yoda asked. Tears started coming out of Obi-Wan's eyes "They have been married since after the battle of Geonosis. I want Anakin to be happy, so I allowed it. Padme is pregnant with Anakin's child. "Obi-Wan sobbed.
"I knew we couldn't trust him. He should be expelled! "Mace shouted. "Nooo! "Shouted Obi-Wan.
The council members started shouting at each other.
"Enough! "Yoda shouted as he stomped his walking stick.
"Natural this attachment is. Now I see why Anakin's powers increased over the years. Love is the key to defeating the Sith. Always has been. "Yoda said. "I am tired of the way we have treated Anakin. We have been too harsh on him. "Obi-Wan groaned. "Ahsoka and Shmi skywalker a pattern I see. "Yoda said. "Anakin's attachments being severed. Now that the shroud of the dark side is gone with Anakin, I see the Sith's plan. Anakin's attachments are also his connections to the light. Lose Padme and lose Anakin. "Yoda warned. "Recall the council. A group meditation is required to find Anakin and Padme. "Yoda ordered. "Palpatine was expecting to meet with Anakin this morning. What do we tell him? "Mace Windu asked. "Tell him nothing. A connection to the Sith he has. Prevent them from finding this information we must. "Yoda ordered. The council adjourned.
Late Mace spoke to Palpatine when he contacted the temple. "Where is Anakin? I was expecting him this morning. "Palpatine asked. "He is on a secret mission with senator Amidala. "Mace answered. "I have reports that her apartment was struck by power surges this morning when that strange fighter aircraft appeared. "Palpatine said. "Obi-Wan has killed General Grievous. I suggest you return your emergency powers now! "Mace shouted. "There is still an armistice that must be signed. "Palpatine replied. "You better start writing your resignation speech because the next time we meet you will give up your emergency powers. "Mace growled as he closed the comm.
"Palpatine wasn't fooled. He knew Anakin was off world and farther away than he had ever been. He could barely sense him in the force and worse he was out of the range of Palpatine's power. Anakin would no longer have nightmares of Padme dying in childbirth because of the distance between them. Palpatine was certain that both Anakin and Padme had been transported off world to a distant world somehow whether accidental or intentional was unknown.
