Brawl 1 Water: Chapter 1 The Avatar and The Bakugan Returns Part 1

A week had passed since Hoshi, Saida, Migual and their Bakugan had arrived at the village. The people were getting used to them, escaped Sokka, who kept an eye on them every chance he got. Katara even showed off her powers to bend the ice and water. Right now, Hoshi was with Sokka and Katara on a canoe and trying to catch the last of the fish, Hoshi and the others needed for their trip. Hoshi had a fishing pole, Sokka had a spear and Katara had nothing. Hoshi then said as he caught another fish. "And that's another fish."

"You're really good at fishing Hoshi."

"Thank Katara, but this would go faster, if Sokka brought a net instead of a spear. And if Sokka would have brought one more fishing pole."

"Quiet, I'm trying to fish here." Sokka said as he was looking for his first fish. He found one and said. "It's not getting away from me this time. Watch and learn, Hoshi, Katara. This is how you catch a fish." Katara then found one and decided to help. She removed her glove and started to make a water bubble with the fish inside. She then said to Hoshi and Sokka. "Sokka, Hoshi, look."

"Shh, Katara. You're gonna scare it away. Mmm. I can already smell it cooking." Sokka said, not seeing his sister's water bubble. Hoshi did and even had seen it before, he was impressed by her powers. Katara then said to Sokka as she put the bubble over head. "But, Sokka, I caught one."

"Yeah, so put down the spear." Hoshi said as Sokka popped the water bubble. Sokka got wet and the fish escaped. Sokka then said to them. "Why is it that every time you play with magic water, I get soaked?"

"It's not magic. It's Waterbending."

"Uh, guys?" Hoshi said, looking ahead, as Katara said. "And it's-"

"Yeah, yeah- an ancient art unique to our culture, blah, blah, blah… Look, I'm just saying that if I had weird powers, I'd keep my weirdness to myself, especially with the outsides."

"Guys?" Hoshi said, but they still didn't listen to him. Katara said to Sokka. "You're calling me weird? I'm not the one who makes muscles at myself every time I see my reflection in the water."

"GUYS!?" Hoshi said and Sokka said. "What!"

"Ice!" Hoshi said as they hit the ice blocks. Hoshi fell down, so he couldn't help. Katara and Sokka tried to turn them away from the ice. Katara tried to give Sokka direction, but it was too late. The ice surrounds them and they crash onto an ice block. On the ice block, Hoshi looked around for a way back to the village, Katara said to Sokka. "You call that left?"

"You don't like my steering. Well, maybe you should have Waterbended us out of the ice."

"So it's my fault."

"I knew I should have left you home. Leave it to a girl and a Hex to screw things up." That made Katara blow her top. She then yelled at him not knowing she was Waterbending at the same time. "You are the most sexist, immature, nutbrained- Ah! I'm embarrassed to be related to you!" Katara Waterbending then started to make a crack into an ice glacier. "Ever since Mom died, I've been doing all the work around camp, while you've been off playing soldier." Katara then used her Waterbending to make more cracks into an ice glacier. "I even wash all the clothes. Have you ever smelled your dirty socks? Let me tell you. Not pleasant!" Katara then used her Waterbending to make even more cracks into an ice glacier. Sokka then said, freaking out a little. "Katara! Settle down!"

"NO! That's it. I'm done helping you. From now on, you're on your own!" Katara said, destroying the ice glacier. Hoshi then fell down again as the ice block was pushed around. After the ice stopped Sokka said. "Ok. You've gone from weird to freakish, Katara."

"You mean, I did that?"

"Yep. Congratulations." Sokka said, as something in the water started to glow below them. They all got up and saw a glowing ice glacier appear out of the water. Inside was a big beast and a kid. Katara and Hoshi got close and saw the kid open his eyes. That surprised them and Katara said taking Sokka mace. "He's alive. We have to help."

"Agreed." Hoshi said as he grabbed Sokka's spear. They then jumped to the ice glacier on ice blocks. Sokka then said to Katara, as he followed them. "Katara! Get back here! We don't know what that thing is."

"It's a person Sokka, not a thing." Hoshi said as he and Katara used Sokka weapons to break open the glacier. And when it broke, air hit them and a big beam of light filled the sky. A few miles away Zuko saw the beam on his ship. He then said to Iroh, Ryerazu and Alex, who was learning how to play Pai Sho and Firebending from Iroh. "Finally. Uncle, do you realize what this means?"

"We won't get to finish my game?"

"It means my search is about to come to an end."

"Great, now can we get back to our game. Your move Master Iroh." Alex said as he finished his move. Zuko then said to Alex. "Be quiet, Hex. That light came from an incredibly powerful source. It has to be him."

"Or it's just the celestial lights. We've been down this road before, Prince Zuko. I don't want you to get too excited over nothing. Please, sit. Why don't you enjoy a cup of calming jasmine tea with us?" Iroh said as he finished his move. Zuko then yelled at Iroh. "I don't need any calming tea! I need to capture the Avatar! Helmsman, head a course for the light." Iroh and Alex then went back to their game, but Iroh was worried for Zuko.

At the ice glacier Katara, Sokka, and Hoshi looked at the reminders and saw the kid. Sokka grabbed the spear from Hoshi and said to the kid. "STOP!" He did stop and fell down. Katara caught him and Hoshi got a good look. He was wearing brown boots, yellow short pants and an orange shirt. He was bald and had arrows all over his body. Sokka started to poke him with the end of his spear. Hoshi then said, taking the spear from Sokka. "Stop that!" Soon the kids' eyes opened to show grey hexagon eyes and saw Katara. He then said to her in a weak voice. "I need to ask you something."

"What?"

"Please, come closer."

"What is it?"

"Will you go penguin-sledding with me?" He said fully recovered. Katara said, a little surprised. "Ah… sure. I guess."

"Looks like he is just fine." Hoshi said as the kid got up and said, looking around the area. "What's going on here?"

"You tell us! How did you get on the ice? And why aren't you frozen?" Sokka said to the kid, as he grabbed his spear back from Hoshi. "I'm not sure." The kid said before everyone heard something growling. The kid then went up and said to a bison with white fur and grey arrows over its body, two horns, a big tail and six legs. "Appa, are you alright? Wake up, buddy." Katara, Sokka, and Hoshi walked over to see Appa waking up and licked the kid. The kid then said to Appa with a laugh. "You're ok."

"Now who is this?" Hoshi said getting closer to Appa. The kid said. "This is Appa, my Flying Bison."

"Can I pet him or her?"

"Him and yes." The kid said, as Hoshi pet Appa. He then said to the kid. "His fur is nice. Oh right? We haven't introduced ourselves yet? I'm Hoshi, the lady is Katara and that's Sokka." Appa then started to make a face. The kid and Hoshi knew it was going to happen, so they got out of the way. Sokka was not so lucky. Appa sneezed all over him with green snot. Sokka tried to get it off him and the kid said. "Don't worry. It'll wash out. So, do you guys live around here?"

"They do, me and my friend are just staying here for a little while." Hoshi said as Sokka took the spear from him and said. "Stopped answering him. Did you see that crazy bolt of light? He was probably trying to signal the Fire Navy."

"Oh, yeah. I'm sure he's a spy for the Fire Navy. You can tell by that evil look in his eye." Katara said as the kid gave Sokka an innocent look in his eyes. She then said to the kid. "You haven't told us your name?"
"I'm-ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah-choo!" The kid then sneezed into the air. After he came down and acted like nothing happened. "I'm Aang."

"Bless you." Hoshi said to Aang, before Sokka said to Aang. "You just sneezed and flew 10 feet in the air."

"Really? It felt higher than that."

"Oh! You're an Airbender." Katara said and Aang nodded yes. Sokka then said, turning around. "Giant light beams, flying bison, Airbenders, I think I got midnight sun madness. I'm going home to where stuff makes sense."

"Sokka, the canoe was destroyed. How are you going to get home?" Hoshi said as Sokka realized he didn't have an idea to get back home. Aang then said to them, as he got on Appa. "Well, if you guys are stuck, Appa and I can give you a lift."

"We'd love a ride. Thanks." Katara said as she and Hoshi got on Appa. Sokka walked up to them and said. "Oh, no! I am not getting on that fluffy snot monster."

"Are you hoping some other kind of monster will come along and give you a ride home? You know, before you freeze to death." Katara said as Hoshi help her onto Appa. Hoshi then said to Sokka giving him a hand. "So what will it be?" Sokka tried to give a reason, but there wasn't one. Sokka got on and Aang said to them. "Ok. First-time flyers, hold on tight. Hold on tight. Appa, yip yip" Appa then jumped up, but he didn't fly. As Appa swam to the village, Aang said to Appa. "Come on, Appa, yip yip."

"Wow, that was truly amazing." Sokka said as Hoshi hit his head. After that Katara said to Aang. "Is Appa ok?"

"Yeah, he's just tired. A little rest and he'll be soaring through the sky. You'll see." Aang said, as the group got comfortable. Katara moved to the front and Aang smiled at her. Katara saw Aang smile and said. "Why are you smiling at me like that?"

"Oh. I was smiling?"

"Yes, you were." Hoshi said as they left the area. An hour later Zuko's ship arrived at the ice glacier and found nothing. Soon the sun started to set and on the ship everyone was getting ready for bed, but two people. Alex, who was on watch duty and Zuko, who was breathing down Alex's neck. Iroh soon walked up to them and said. "I'm going to bed now. Yep. A man needs his rest."

"Agreed. I'm going to bed." Alex said going into the ship. Zuko stopped him and said. "You're still working." He then pushed Alex back to the telescope. Iroh then said to Zuko. "Prince Zuko, you need some sleep. Even if you're right and The Avatar is alive you won't find him. Your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all tried and failed."

"Because their honor didn't hinge on the Avatar's capture. Mine does. This coward's hundred years in hiding are over." Zuko said, looking over the frozen wasteland. Iroh left him and Alex sneaked away from him. He then said to Iroh. "Why does his honor rely on the Avatar's capture?"

"I'll tell you another day, you need your rest too."

"Ok, night Master Iroh." Alex said as he went to his room. In the ocean, Appa was still taking everyone to the village. Sokka and Hoshi were asleep and before Katara went to sleep, she was talking to Aang. "Hey."

"Hey. What are you thinking about?"

"I guess I was wondering. You're an Airbender and all, if you had any idea what happened to the Avatar."

"Uh… no. I didn't know him. I mean, I knew people that knew him. But I didn't. Sorry."

"Ok. Just curious. Goodnight." Soon they made it to the village, but it was night, as Katara showed Aang a place to sleep, Hoshi went to his tent and his friends were still awake. Saida was the first to speak. "Hoshi, are you ok?"

"You went fishing for a long time." Centipod said as he jumped onto Hoshi's right shoulder. Hoshi then said to them. "I'm fine. Sokka just crashed the canoe."

"And I wasn't there to save you. That's it, Pyravian, Eenoch and I are sticking to you guys like glue."

"Ok Centipod."

"So how did you get back?" Miguel said and then Hoshi explained how they got back and what Katara told him. Saida then said to Hoshi. "Then he must be the Avatar."

"Maybe, or maybe not. He could just be the last Airbender."

"He could be lying?"

"True. Let's get to know him first and then we will see if he is the Avatar everyone is looking for." He then turned to the Bakugan. "And tomorrow, you guys can come along, but hide in our pockets. So no one can see you guys." They all agreed on Hoshi's plan and soon everyone got a good night's sleep, but only one person had a nightmare and that was Aang. In Aang's dream, it was dark and stormy and he and Appa were flying into it. The thunder echoed all around them and soon they crashed into the water. Appa tried to fly out of the water, but the waves were keeping them down. They both were going to drown, but before that happened. Aang's eyes and tattoos started to glowed and he made a giant air bubble around them. It would have kept them safe until the storm was over, but ice started to surround them. Soon they were encased in the same ice glacier he was in earlier. He then heard Katara say in his dream. "Aang. Aang, wake up!" He then woke up still a little scared. "It's ok. We're in the village now. Come on. Everyone's waiting to meet you." Katara said as Aang got his clothes on. Katara was going to leave, but stopped and saw all of his tattoos. When he was done, Katara grabbed him and dragged him outside. Outside every village, minus Sokka, who was shaping his boomerang, was waiting for Aang. Katara then introduces Aang. "Aang, this is the entire village, along with Hoshi's friends Saida and Miguel. Entire village, Saida, Migual this is Aang."

"Nice to meet you Aang." Saida said as she and Miguel bowed to him. Aang bowed to them and then noticed how everyone else was looking scared of him. Aang then said to Katara. "Why are they all looking at me like that? Did Appa sneeze on me?"

"No, they're just like this to anyone with Hexagon Eye's." Miguel said, before Gran Gran came up and said. "That's not it. No one has seen an Airbender in a hundred years. We thought they were extinct. Until my granddaughter and grandson found you?"

"Extinct?" Aang said not knowing the fate of the other Airbenders. Katara then introduces Gran Gran. "Aang, this is my grandmother."

"Call me Gran Gran." Gran Gran said and then Sokka walked next to Aang and took his staff. He then said to Aang. "What is this, a weapon? You can't stab anything with this."

"Maybe, because it's not a weapon, but a staff." Hoshi said, taking the staff and giving it back to Aang. Aang then said to Hoshi. "Thanks Hoshi. And it's not for stabbing. It's for Airbending." He then opened it and now it was a glider. One of the kids then said. "Magic trick, do it again."

"Not magic, Airbending. It lets me control the air currents around my glider and fly." Aang said and Sokka said. "You know, last time I checked, humans can't fly."

"Check again!" Aang said as he took off into the air. As he flew around, everyone was impressed, especially Katara. Aang then closed his eyes and had a big smile. Hoshi noticed him and said. "Aang watched out for that-" Aang then hit the village watchtower. "-watchtower..." Aang and the watchtower fell down. Katara, Hoshi, Saida, Miguel ran to Aang and Sokka was so shocked over losing his watchtower. As Hoshi and Miguel helped Aang up, Saida was checking out Aang's glider, Katara said to Aang. "That was amazing."

"Just like this glider." Saida said as she folded it and gave it back to Aang. Sokka then joined them, but he was worried about his watchtower more than about Aang. Karma then hit him, as more of the watchtower hit him on the head. As he got up and brushed off the snow, he said to Aang. "Great. You're an Airbender, Katara's a Waterbender. Together you can just waste time all day long."

"Like how you waste time playing soldier." Hoshi said and Sokka left in a huff. Aang said to Katara. "You're a Waterbender!"

"Well, soft of. Not yet." Katara said, but then Gran Gran walked up to her. She took Katara away and said to her. "All right. No more playing. Come on, Katara. You have chores."

"I told you. He's the real thing, Gran Gran. I finally found a Bender to teach me."

"Katara, try not to put all your hopes in this boy."

"But he's special. I can tell. I sense he's filled with much wisdom." Katara said and then Saida then passed them. Katara looked at her and said. "Saida, where are you going?"

"To get some hot water. Aang's tongue is stuck on his staff." Saida said, stopping and pointing to Aang, whose tongue was stuck to his staff and was laughing with the kids. Later on Zuko's ship, Iroh was teaching Zuko and Alex Firebending. While Ryerazu was with Iroh. After Zuko and Alex launched fire from their hands. Iroh said to them. "No! Power and Firebending come from the breath, not the muscles. The breath becomes energy in the body. The energy extends past your limbs and becomes fire! Get it right this time."

"Yes, Master Iroh." Alex said, bowing his head. Zuko then got mad and said to Iroh. "Enough. I've been drilling this sequence all day. Teach me the next set. I'm more than ready."

"No! You're impatient, unlike Alex here. You need patients or you'll never master your basics. Drill it again!" Iroh said and Zuko fired fire from his hands at Alex, who was able to block the flames with his own. Zuko then said to Iroh."The sages tell us the Avatar is the last Airbender. He must be over a hundred years old by now. He's had a century to master the 4 elements. I'll need more than basic Firebending to defeat him. You will teach me the advanced set!"

"Very well. But first, I must finish my roast duck." Iroh said as he grabbed his food and started to eat. At the village, Hoshi was watching Sokka talk to the male kids. "Now, men, it's important that you show no fear when you face a Firebender. In the Water Tribe, we fight till the last man's standing. For without courage, how can we call ourselves men?"

"Nice speech, but Sokka you're missing one problem." Hoshi walked over to Sokka and he said to Hoshi. "Oh, and what's that?"

"Your "Man" are little kids." He pointed to the kids. "If you want a fighting chance then you need help from the woman."

"No. Women handle the chorus and we man handle that fighting?"

"First of all, that is sexist and secondly can any of you fight?" Hoshi said to Sokka and one of the kids did raise his hand, but he wanted to go to the bathroom. Sokka then said to them. "Listen! Until your Fathers return from the war, they're counting on you to be the men of this tribe."

"Or most likely, they thought no Fire Nation ship would attack this place." Saida said as she, Katara and Miguel came to them. Sokka then said. "That doesn't matter and that means on potty breaks."

"Yes, it does, go to that bathroom. I need to have a talk with Sokka." Hoshi said as all the kids left. He then said to Sokka. "Sokka, you can't be serious? Sending kids into battle is a bad idea."

"How else are we going to defend our home?"

"The best and only strategy to help your tribe is to run."

"Like cowards. No way!"

"Sokka, if you fight, then all that is left will be empty houses, if you run, then all you'll lose is houses and you can replace houses, but not people."

"Sorry to interrupt the strategy meeting. But have you seen Aang? Gran Gran said he disappeared over an hour ago." Katara said and Hoshi said to her. "He was in the bathroom, but now he's playing with the kids." Hoshi pointed to Aang, who had turned Appa tails into a slide and the kid we're going down in. Everyone, but Sokka was laughing and having fun. Sokka got mad and ran to Aang, while saying. "Stop! Stop it right now! What's wrong with you? We don't have time for fun and games with the war going on."

"What war? What are you talking about?" Aang said, getting off of Appa. Sokka looked at him and said. "You're kidding, right?"

"Penguin!" Aang said finally see a penguin. The penguin here was a cross between a penguin and an otter. The penguin was scared and ran away, but Aang ran after it. Katara, Hoshi, Saida and Miguel then ran after him. They found him in the middle of a herd of penguins. He was trying to tame one, but it wasn't working. Katara, Hoshi, Saida and Miguel then went up to him and he said. "I have a way with animals."

"Really?" Miguel said and Aang then said to him. "Yeah, watch this." Aang said before making a yack sound and tried to get closer to one. Katara, Hoshi, Saida and Miguel laugh. Katara then said to him. "Aang, I'll help you catch a penguin, if you teach me Waterbending."

"You got a deal. Just one little problem. I'm an Airbender, not a Waterbender. Isn't there someone in your tribe who can teach you?"

"No. All of you are looking at the only Waterbender in the whole South Pole."

"This isn't right. A Waterbender needs to master water."

"Then can't she learn from another place that has Waterbenders?" Hoshi said and Aang said. "The only other place with Waterbenders is the North Pole. There's another Water Tribe up there, right? Maybe they have Waterbenders who could teach you."

"Maybe, but we haven't had contact with our sister tribe in a long time. It's not exactly right at the second glacier. It's on the other side of the world." Katara said and then Saida said. "When was the last time you had contact with the North Pole?"

"They stopped talking to us, before I was even born."

"So a very long time." Miguel said and then Hoshi said to them. "Yeah and it doesn't help you. That all you have is our canoes and no boats."

"But you all forget. I have a flying bison. Appa and I can personally fly you to the North Pole." Aang said and Hoshi said to him. "Can we go with you, we have to find our home, we got lost and don't know where it is."

"Hoshi, Sadia, Miguel, we're going to find your home and Katara, we're gonna find you a master." Aang said and while Hoshi, Saida and Miguel were happy to hear that. Katara on the other hand was not sure. Katara said to Aang. "I don't know. I've never left home before."

"Well, you think about it. But in the meantime, can you reach me to catch one of these Penguins?" Aang said and Katara was more than happy to teach Aang. She then said to him, getting a fish out of her pocket. "Ok. Listen closely, my young pupil. Catching Penguins is an ancient and sacred art. Observe." She then gave Aang the fish and the Penguins surrounded him. Katara then gave Hoshi, Sadia, and Miguel a fish and soon, all of them started Penguin sled. All of them were having fun, but it stopped when they found a ghost ship that looked like a Zuko ship. Aang then said as they all looked at it. "What is that?"

"A Fire Navy ship and a very bad memory for my people." Katara said, feeling a little scared. Hoshi then said to them. "Then let's get out of here. This ship is ruining all of the fun we were just having."

"No, I want to see the inside." Aang said as he started to walk inside. Katara then said to him. "Aang, stop. We're not allowed to go hear it. The ship could be booby-trapped."

"If you want to be a Bender, you have to let go of fear." Aang said as he got closer. The others still had a bad feeling, but they followed him inside. After exploring the ship for a while, Katara said to them as they found the ship's weapon cache. "This ship has been haunted by tribes since Gran Gran was a little girl."

"That is a long time." Hoshi said as he and Aang picked up some spears. Saida then said to her. "Was this ship part of the Fire Nation's first attacks on the South Poles?"

"Yes." Katara said and then Aang said. "Ok. Back up. I have friends all over the world, even in the Fire Nation. I've never seen any war."

"Aang, how long were you in that iceberg?"

"I don't know. A few days maybe."

"I think it was more like a hundred years."

"What? That's impossible. Do I look like a 112-year old man to you guys?"

"No, but it makes sense." Hoshi said to Aang. Saida and Miguel agreed with Hoshi and Katara said to Aang. "Think about it. The war is a century old. You don't know about it, because somehow you were in there that whole time. It's the only explanation."

"A hundred years. I can't believe it." Aang said, taking a seat. He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that a hundred years had passed. Katara was the first to move up to him and said. "I'm sorry, Aang. Maybe, somehow, there's a bright side to all this."

"I did get to meet all of you."

"Yeah, now let's get out of here." Hoshi said, giving Aang a hand. Aang took it and they started to walk, but instead of going to the exit, they found their way to the brides. Katara said to Aang. "Aang, let's go back. This place is creepy."

"Yeah and we don't want to trigger a booby trap." Hoshi said and Aang hit a tripwire. The exit was then blocked by an iron cage. Hoshi then said. "Like this one."

"Sorry." Aang said as the booby trap was still working. The old pipes let out steam and shot a flare into the air. That was bad part, but the good part was that was a hole in the roof. Aang helped everyone throw the hole and they ran back to the village. The village saw the flare, but they weren't the only ones. On Zuko's ship, Alex and Ryerazu saw the flare and told Zuko. Zuko looked and saw Aang throw the scope. Zuko then said to Alex. "The last Airbender. Quite agile for his old age." He then turned to Alex and said. "Wake my uncle! Tell him I found the Avatar."

"Ok, but do you know where his hiding place is?"

"Yes, I see it too." Zuko said as he saw the village. Alex and Ryerazu then left Zuko.
