Brawl 1 Water: Chapter 6 Imprisoned Break
In the middle of the woods, Aang and Phaedrus were practicing with Hoshi and Centipod. And Saida and Pyravian were practicing with Miguel and Eenoch. Watching all of them was Katara. Appa was asleep and Momo was with Sokka, who was getting some food. Katara then heard Momo behind her and turned around and saw Sokka with a bag of food. "Guys! Sokka back." Katara said, causing all of them to return their Bakugan. Aang then jumped to Sokka and said. "Great. You're back. What's for dinner?"
"We've got a few options." Sokka said, going through his bag. Sokka then pulled out nuts and some rock. "What else you got?" Katara said as Momo took one of the nuts and bang it against a rock. Then a loud boom echoed through the forest. "What was that?" Sokka said and Momo thought it was him. So he dropped the nut and another boom echoed. "It's coming from over there." Aang said as they all ran to the boom, but Sokka, who said. "Shouldn't we run away from huge booms, not toward them?"
"We're just making sure it isn't dangous." Hoshi said before Sokka joined them. They all went to the boom, which was in what was a river stream and took cover behind a fallen tree. They then got a good look at the boom and saw a kid about their age group. The kid had long black hair, brown skin, and clothes that had the colors of the Earth Kingdom and started to bend a boulder and pushed into the river stream wall. Saida then said to her friends. "An Earthbender."
"Let's go meet him." Aang said before Sokka said. "He looks dangerous so we better approach cautiously."
"Hello there! I'm Katara. What's your name?" Katara, who was a few feet away from the cover, said to the kid. That worried her friends and the kid. The kid then ran away and used his Earthbending to cause a rockslide to cover his tracks. "Nice to meet you!" Aang said as they all joined Katara. Miguel then said to Katara. "What did you do to scare him?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to say hi." Katara said before Hoshi said. "Then why was he scared?"
"Hey, I just have an idea. He might be running to a nearby village." Aang said and they all realized what he was talking about. Saida then said that idea. "And a village has to have a market."
"Which means no nuts for dinner." Katara said as they all followed that kid. Sokka then said to the others. "Hey! I worked hard to get those nuts."
"So you don't want an actual meal?" Miguel said before Sokka said. "Actually, I hate nuts too." They all then ran to a village. That village had a mine and had walls around the important buildings. It was a nice small village, but it was under the control of the Fire Nation. "Looks like it's back to nuts." Sokka said as he was about to leave. Miguel stopped him and said. "Where are you going?"
"We can't enter that village, all four of you would be found out in an instant."
"Not if we use this." Saida said as she and the other pulled out a bag full of pink powder. "What is that?" Sokka said before Hoshi said. "This Removing Powder. We got it from Bumi back in Omashu."
"And what does it do?"
"For at least a few hours, we won't have Hexagon Eyes. Just watch." Saida said as she and the others put it into their eyes and after blinking for a few seconds the hexagon in their eyes had turned into circles. Aang then said to everyone. "Looks like it works."
"Yeah, but I feel weird when I am around you." Phaedrus said before Saida said to her partner. "What does she mean, Pyravian?"
"What she means is that we feel like you are here and not here at the same time." Pyravian said and Hoshi said. "We'll figure it out later. Now let's explore this village."
"But what about Aang tattoos?" Sokka said before Saida pulled out a straw hat and put it onto Aang's head. They then entered the village and looked around. Only Hoshi noticed that there weren't many kids or adults in the town. That worried him and soon Katara found the kid entering a store. Katara went into the store and the rest of them followed Katara. Inside the kid was yelled at by his mother, when Katart walked in and said to the kid. "Hey! You're that kid. Why did you run away before?"
"Uh… You must have confused me with some other kid."
"No, she doesn't. We saw you in the forest earlier." Saida said before Aang said. "And we all saw you Earthbending." That scared the kid mom and she quickly shut the windows and the door. She then looked at the kid and said. "They saw you doing what?"
"They're crazy, Mom. I mean, look at how they're dressed."
"You know how dangerous that is. You know what would happen if they caught you Earthbending."
"Sorry to interrupt you two. But can you tell us your names and why Earthbending is dangerous?" Hoshi said before the woman said. "Ok, this is my son, Haru and I am–"
"Open up." A male voice from outside said banging on the door. Sokka looked at the window and saw Fire Nation Soldiers. He then said to everyone. "Fire Nation. Act natural." Haru mom opened the door and the Fire Nation entered the store. Inside, Sokka and Haru were looking at an apple. Katara and Saida were eating berries. Hoshi and Miguel were looking at nets. And Aang was leaning on a barrier of water, but he put too much pressure on the lid, causing it to open and him to fall down. The Fire Nation commander didn't think about it more as Haru's mother said to him. "What do you want? I've already paid you this week."
"The tax just doubled. We wouldn't want an accident, would we? Fire is sometimes so hard to control." The commander said and he bent some fire. After he put it out, Haru mom gave him the money he wanted and they left. Sokka then said to Haru mom. "Nice guy. How long has the Fire Nation been here?"
"Five years. Fire Lord Ozai uses our town's coal mines to fuel his ships."
"They're thugs. They steal from us. And everyone here is too much of a coward to do anything about it." Haru said before his mom said to him. "Quiet, Haru! Don't talk like that!"
"But Haru's an Earthbender. He can help." Katara said before Haru's mother said to her. "Earthbending is forbidden. It and along with Hex, have caused nothing but misery for this village. He must never use his abilities."
"How can you say that? Haru has a gift. Asking him not to Earthbend is like asking me or Hoshi not to Waterbend. It's a part of who we are." Katara said and Hoshi said to her. "Katara, she understands that Eatherbend is a part of Haru, but it's you that doesn't understand why she doesn't want to fight back."
"What do you mean, Hoshi? They could fight back."
"And lose the last of their families?"
"What?"
"The Fire Nation, they have taken every Brawler, that's what we call Hex, and everyone that can Earthbend from this town. Haven't they?" Hoshi said, looking at Haru's mother and she nodded her head and said to them. "Yes and one of those Earthbend was Haru's father." Katara then understood why she didn't want to fight back. Later that day, Haru and his mom took them all to their family farm. Haru then said as he showed them the barn. "My mom said you can sleep here tonight. But you should leave in the morning."
"Thanks. I'll make sure Appa doesn't eat all your hay." Aang said as Appa was eating some of the hay stored in the barn. As everyone was setting up the sleeping bags. Katara and Haru were talking while walking, with Katara starting with. "I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I didn't know about your father."
"That's ok. It's funny. The way you were talking back in the store, it reminded me of him."
"Thanks."
"My father was very courageous. When the Fire Nation invaded, not only was he and the other Earthbenders, were outnumbered, 10 to 1, but they stood their ground and fought back. That gave most of the Hex and families with kids under six a chance to escape."
"He sounds like a great man."
"After the attack, they rounded up my father, the remaining Hex's, and every other Earthbender and took them away. We haven't seen them since."
"So that's why you hide your Earthbending."
"Yeah. The problem is, the only way I can feel close to my father now is when I practice my Bending. He taught me everything I know."
"See this necklace?" Katara said holding a necklace that had the Water Tribe symble on an aquaa colored rock. Haru looked at it and Katara said to him. "My mother gave it to me."
"It's beautiful."
"I lost my mother in a Fire Nation Raid. This necklace is all I have left of her."
"It's not enough is it?"
"No." Katara said as she and Haru ran into Hoshi. Katara then said to him. "Hoshi? What are you doing here?"
"I was just looking for a spot with the most cover when we leave tomorrow." Hoshi said as they all heard a big boom and then some calling for help. "The mine!" Haru said as they all ran to the mine. At the mine an old man at one of the entrances was going to get buried alive. Hoshi tried to roll out Centipod, but he couldn't see any Baku-Cores. So while Haru tried to stabilize the entrances, so that no more dirt would fall on the old man. Katara and Hoshi tried to pull him out, but it wasn't working. Katara then said to them. "This isn't working. We have to get help."
"There's no time." Haru said before Hoshi said. "Yeah, so unless there is another way to save him, pull harder!"
"There is another way. Haru, you can help him." Katara said and Haru and Hoshi knew what she meant. Haru then gave her his answer. "I can't."
"Yeah it's too dangerous for him." Hoshi said and Katara said to them. "Please. There's no one around to see you. It's the only way!" Haru thought about it for a moment and knew Katara was right. Hoshi replaced Haru, as Haru got into position. Haru used his Bending to push the entrances and the earth around it, deeper into the mine. Katara was happy, the old man was surprised and Hoshi was worried. After helping the old man to the town doctor, they all returned to the farm and told them what happened. After they were finished, Saida said, looking at the powder. "My guess is that this powder blocks our ability to give our Bakugan energy. That might also explain what the Bakugan said earlier. But I am worried about Haru."
"Why, it was so brave of Haru to use his Earthbending to help that old man." Katara said before Aang said. "You must have really inspired him."
"I guess so." Katara said before Sokka said. "Everyone should get some sleep. We're leaving at dawn."
"Dawn? Can't we sleep in for once?" Katara said before Hoshi said. "The longer we stay the more likely we will be found out by the Fire Nation Soldiers. And I don't know about you, but I would like to fright Fire Nation after breakfast. Besides, we don't want to get Haru or his mom into any more trouble."
"We haven't gotten them into trouble."
"I hope you're right. Good night." Hoshi said as they all turned off the lanterns. Later that night, as everyone sleeps, a squad of Fire Nation Soldiers heading to the farm. They reached the barn and walked right past it. Because they were going to the house and not the barn. At the house, they knocked on the door and Haru opened it. Haru then saw the Soldiers and the old man he saved earlier. The old man pointed at Haru and said. "That's the Earthbender!" The Fire Nation Soldiers then grabbed Haru and took him away. At the crack of dawn, as everyone was getting ready to leave, Katara and Hoshi were getting water for their trip. When they saw Haru's mother crying. That told Katara and Hoshi, Haru was taken. After getting all of the facts from Haru's mother, they both ran inside of the barn and Katara said to them. "They took him! They took Haru away!"
"How did that happen?" Saida said and Hoshi said. "The old man he saved turned him over to the Fire Nation."
"And it's all my fault. I forced him into Earthbending." Katara said before Sokka came over to her and said. "Slow down, Katara. When did this happen?"
"Haru's mother said they came for him at midnight."
"Then it's too late to track him. He's long gone."
"We don't need to track him. The Fire Nation is going to take me right to Haru."
"And why would they do that?" Aang said before Hoshi said. "Because they are going to arrest Katara for Earthbending."
"But she is a Waterbender?" Miguel said before Hoshi said as they all exited the barns. "I'll explain on the way." Soon they were at the mine. At the mine, Saida was looking out for Fire Nation Soldiers, Miguel and Hoshi were pushing a boulder onto a vent, and Sokka said as he and Katara watched. "I thought you were crazy at first, Hoshi, but this might work."
"Of course it will work, by having Aang fire an air current into the mine's ventilation shafts. The boulder will levitate, making the Soldiers think Katara is Earthbending."
"I still don't like the fact it is just my sister going on this dangerous rescue mission alone."
"We don't have a choice. You have to be the one that fights her, so she will Earthbend. And if they learn who the rest of us are Brawlers. Katara will be the only one sent to the prison with Haru. Also Katara feels bad that Haru was taken because of her, so she is more than happy to go in alone. Now Aang are you ready?" Hoshi said to Aang, hiding behind a rock, next to a vent and playing with a butterfly. Aang then said to them. "Uh? Oh! I am."
"Do you remember your cue?" Sokka said and Aang said still playing with the butterfly. "Yeah, yeah. Just relax. You're taking all the fun out of this."
"By "this" do you mean internationally being captured by an army of ruthless Firebenders?" Miguel said and Aang said. "Exactly, that what make it so fun."
"Guys the Fire Nation is coming." Saida said as everyone got into their positions. Hoshi, Saida and Miguel hid behind the rock with Aang and Katara and Sokka started to walk towards one another. The soldiers then heard Sokka say to Katara as they pretended to run into each other. "Uh! Get out of my way, pipsqueak."
"How dare you call me pipsqueak, you giant-eared cretin?"
"What did you call me?"
"A giant-eared cretin! Look at those things. Do herds of animals use them for shade?"
"You better back off! Seriously, back off." Sokka whispered that last sentences. Katara then yelled at Sokka. "I will not back off! I bet elephants get together and make fun of how large your ears are."
"That's it! You're going down."
"I'll show you who's boss, Earthbending style." Katara said as she did an Earthbending pose, but nothing happened. Hoshi, Saida, Miguel and the Bakugan were watching and when nothing happened, they all looked at Aang and saw that he was still playing with the butterfly. "Aang that the signal." Phaedrus said and Aang quickly shot air into the vent. The boulder did start to levitate and on the other side, Momo was cleaning himself with his arms up. "That Lemur. He's Earthbending." One of the Soldiers said, thinking that Momo was Earthbending and not Katara. Sokka then said to them as he pointed to Katara. "No, you idiots. It's the girl."
"Oh. Of course." The Soldier said realizing Sokka was right. "I'll hold her." Sokka said grabbing Katara, which was cueing Aang to stop the air stream. As the guards were getting close to arrest her, Sokka whispered to her. "You've got 12 hours to find Haru. We'll be right behind you." The Soldiers took Katara away and everyone came out of hiding, then went to Appa. Katara was taken to the town's dock, given a brown shirt that looked like trash. Then taken to some Fire Nation Prison Ships. One had Earthbenders being loaded into and the other had people with Hex Eye's getting pushed inside. Unknown to the Soldiers, Phaedrus, Pyravian and Eenoch were keeping an eye on Katara as she was loaded into the ship with all of the other Earthbenders. As both ships left port, Phaedrus, Pyravian and Eenoch told them which ship Katara was on, and then they followed it, using the clouds as cover. Soon the ship reached the prison, a shipyard made out of metal, that had a big port with a lot of ships, a giant tower and was burning coal for power. Aang had a sad look on his face and Sokka said to him. "She'll be fine, Aang. Katara knows what she's doing."
"Yeah, I just wish we had saved the Brawlers on the other ship."
"I understand what you're feeling Aang, but even if we had freed them. They would be on the run, scared that the Fire Nation would take them again. If we want to truly free the Brawlers, then we need to stop the Fire Nation. Now get us as close as you can take us without getting spotted. We have 3 hours left, and we need to figure out the layout of this place." Hoshi said as they went closer, but they were still the clouds.
At the shipyard, Katara and the Earthbending prisoners were taken off the ship and put into a line. "Earthbenders, it is my pleasure to welcome you aboard my modest Shipyard." An old man in a Fire Nation said as he appeared before them. He then continued to speak to them. "I am your Warden. I prefer to think of you not as prisoners, but as honored guests. And I hope you come to think of me as your humble and caring host. You will succeed here if you simply abide–" Then one of the Earhtbenders coughed, this caused the Warden to get mad and Firebended at the Earthbender. The Warden just missed the Earhtbender and he said to the Earthebender. "What kind of guest dishonors his host by interrupting him? Take him below. One week in solitary will improve his manners." A guard then took him away and the Warden started to speak again. "Simply treat me with the courtesy I give you and we will get along famously." The Warden then took them all on a tour of the shipyard as they were going to where the other prisoners were keeped. "You will notice, Earthbenders, that this rig is made entirely of metal. You are miles away from rock or earth. So, if you have any illusions about employing that brutish savagery that passed for Bending among you people, forget them. It is impossible. Good day." The Warden said as they all were put into the area that was holding all of the Earhtbenders.
The area had only one wall, but they were a few hundred miles away from land, so they couldn't swim away. Plus it was very high, so it would hurt anyone that fell off it. There were also tents, but only a bare minimum number of them. Once Katara was in the area, she could feel hopelessness in the air. "Katara?" Haru said seeing her walk around the area. Katara turned to him and said. "Haru!"
"What are you doing here?"
"It's my fault you were captured. I came to rescue you."
"So you got yourself arrested?"
"It was the only way to find you."
"You've got guts, Katara. I'll give you that. Come on. There's someone I want you to meet." Haru said taking Katara to an old man, with long white hair and a long white beard. "Katara, this is my father, Tyro. Dad, this is Katara." Haru said, introducing one another. Katara then said to Tyro. "It's an honor to meet you."
"Have some dinner, Katara." Tyro said, giving Katara a bowl of gray water with brown chunks inside. Katara took it and after getting a closer look, she had a disgusted look on her face. Tyro then said to her. "It's not as bad as it looks." Katara took a seat and a spoon full for the food, then felt sick. "It's still pretty bad, though." Tyro said as one of the male prisoners came over to them and said to Tyro. "Tyro, the prisoners are complaining. There aren't enough blankets to go around."
"I'll talk to the guards. In the meantime, make sure the elderly are taken care of. The rest of us will simply have to hope for warmer weather."
"If you don't mind me asking. What's your escape plan?" Katara said before Tyro said to her. "Excuse me?"
"You know, the plan to get everyone off the rig? What is it? Mutiny, Sabotage?"
"The plan? The plan is to survive, wait out this war, hope that one day some of us can get back home and forget this ever happened."
"How can you say that? You sound like you've already given up."
"Katara, I admire your courage. And I envy your youth. But people's lives are at stake here. The warden is a ruthless man, and he won't stand for any rebellion. I'm sorry, but we're powerless."
"We'll see about that." Katara said as she got up and left them. Tyro felt Katara's fighting spirit. Soon Katara got on the table that had the food, banged on one of the lids with a spoon and started a speech for the Earthbenders. "Earhtbenders! You don't know me, but I know of you. Every child in my Water Tribe Village was rocked to sleep with stories of the brave Earth Kingdom and the courageous Earthbenders who guard its borders." Unknown to Katara, the warden was listening to her too. One of the guards was going to stop her, but the warden stopped the guard and let Katara continue her speech. "Some of you may think that the Fire Nation has made you powerless. Yes. They have taken away your ability to Bend. But they can't take away your courage. And it is your courage they should truly fear, because it runs deeper than any mine you've been forced to dig, any ocean that keeps you far from home, it is the strength of your hearts that make you who you are, hearts that will remain unbroken when all rock and stone has eroded away. The time to fight back is now! I can tell you the Avatar has returned and with his return, a new power has tipped the scale in our favor! So remember your courage, Earthbenders! Let us fight for our freedom!" No one moved, and no one said anything. This told Katara that they had lost hope of escaping. It wasn't a surprise to the warden, who just smiled and walked away.
Later that night, Aang made sure that watchtower lights didn't see Appa and were under the area Katara and the Earthbender were. Phaedrus, Pyravian and Eenoch found Katara and brought her to the spot the others were. At the spot, Sokka said to Katara. "Your 12 hours are up. Where is Haru? We've got to get of here."
"Haru, isn't coming."
"Then we'll have to go without him."
"I can't."
"We don't have much time. There are guards everywhere. Get on!"
"Katara, what's wrong?" Aang said before Katara said to them. "I'm not leaving. I'm not giving up on these people."
"What do you mean, you're not leaving?" Sokka said before Katara said to him. "We can't abandon these people. There has to be a way to help them."
"And I agree with you. But if we are doing this, we need to find a place to hide and come up with a plan." Hoshi said as a light almost hit them. "No, this is our only chance to leave."
"If you want to leave, then get on Appa and hide in the clouds. If you want to free a great number of Earthbenders follow me." Hoshi said as he and Katara left and Saida, Miguel and the Bakugan followed them. "I hate when people get like this." Sokka said before following them. Aang was going to follow them, after Aang whispered to Appa. "Go. Hide in the clouds. Phaedrus, will come and get you later." Appa then flew away, but two male guards saw him and went to the warden. After telling the warden what they saw, he said to the guards. "Tell me exactly what you saw."
"Well, sir, it looked like a Flying Bison."
"What?"
"It was a giant, flying Buffalo, sir, with an empty saddle."
"Which was it, a Buffalo or a Bison?"
"I-I-I'm not sure what the difference is, but that's not really the point, is it, sir?"
"I'll decide what the point is, fool!" The warden said before tossing one of the guards of the edge. Luckily, it wasn't too high and the guard could swim, so he was ok. The warden then said to the other guard. "You! Wake up the Captain! Search the entire rig!"
"Sir."
"What?"
"That was the Captain you just threw overboard, so–"
"Then wake up someone I haven't thrown overboard and search the rig. There's something going on here and I don't like it." The warden said and the guard left him. Aang and the others had found a hiding spot and Hoshi was going to go over a plan. "While we were waiting for you Katara, we got a good look of this place and I already have a plan. This place realizes too heavily on the fact that it doesn't have any Earth to bend. So Miguel and Eenoch will punch open a hole in the wall, so the Earthbenders have a way to the ship, Centipod and I will secure them. Saida and Pyravian you will find anyone else and help them to the ships. Aang, you and the others will cover our backs."
"This is a solid plan Hoshi." Sokka said before Hoshi said. "Thank you, but there is one problem."
"What's that?"
"The Earthbenders. Even if we make a path. If they don't move, then Sokka and Katara will probably join them."
"So we need to convince them to join us, right? That should be easy."
"No it won't be. I tried talking the Earhtbenders into fighting back, but it didn't work. If there was a way to help them help themselves." Katara said before Saida said. "What if we give them something to Bend?"
"That could work, but this area is sold metal. What can they Bend here?" Hoshi said and then everyone thought for a moment. "Wait a minute. Look at the smoke. I bet they're burning coal. In other words…"
"Earth. Great idea Aang, but how do we get all of the coal into the prison area?" Hoshi said before Sokka noticed a vent in the center of the area. He then said to them. "I have an idea. Remember that trick we did back at the village?" They all nodded yes. "Well let's do the same thing here?" Sokka said and Miguel said. "But won't the coal be sent everywhere?"
"Not if Aang and I close all of the vents expected the one going right here." Phaedrus said and they all started the plan. Aang and Phaedrus opened the vent and went inside as the sun started to rise. "It's almost dawn. We're running out of time." Katara said before Saida said. "Have patients, Aang and Phaedrus, should be done soon."
"There's the intruder!" A guard said, sounding the alarm. The alarm woke up all the Earthbenders and they saw some of the guards about to surround Katara and the others. Tyro then said to Katara as she and the others got ready to fight back. "Katara, stop. You can't win this fight."
"Listen to him well, child. Your one mistake from drying where you stand." The warden said as he walked to them. Just then, Aang did his Airbending and all of the shipyard's coal entered the area. After Aang came up from the vent, Katara said to the Earhtbenders holding a piece of coal. "Here's your chance, Earhtbenders! Take it! Your fate is in your own hands!" But like last time, no one moved or said a thing. The warden laughed and said to Katara. "Foolish girl. You thought a few inspirational words and some coal would change these people? Look at these black hopeless faces. Their spirits were broken a long time ago. Uh, but you still believed in them. How sweet. They're a waste of your energy, little girl. You have failed."
The warden then started to leave, but stopped when a piece of coal hit him in the back of the head. The warden turned around and saw Haru bend three pieces of coal in his hand. The warden then Firebend at Haru, but he was saved thanks to Tyro making a wall of coal. "Show no mercy!" The warden said as he and the other Firebenders started to shoot fire at them. But the Earthbenders blocked them with a bigger wall of coal. Tyro then said to the other Earhtbenders. "For the Earth Kingdom and our taken brothers and sisters, ATTACK!" They then fired the coal at them, causing the Fire Nation to step back. As more Earthbender joined the battle, Hoshi then said to the Brawlers of the ground. "You heard the man, let's do this."
"Bakugan Brawl! Bakugan Stand!" All of the Brawlers said as they rolled out their Bakugan. (Centipod 600 / Phaedrus 600 / Pyravian 600 / Eenoch 600) "See you on the ships." Hoshi said as he got onto Centipod and they dived into the water. "Not if we see you first." Eenoch said as ran right through the wall, making a hole in the shape of him. Tyro then gave orders to the Earthbenders. "Get to the ships! We'll hold them off!"
"Do not let them escape!" The warden said as most of the Fire Nation Soldiers were running scared from the Bakugan. "Let's get out of here." One of the Soldiers said on the ship, trying to run away. But Centipod appeared and not only scared off some of the guards, but blasted the one that was fighting back off with a beam of bubbles. At the tower, Saida had freed the ones in solitary confinement and got them all onto Pyravian. In the prison area, the warden and a few other Firebenders were still standing. Aang then gave Phaedrus a Baku-Core and said. "Phaedrus, trip them out with Tail Shot."
"You got it." Phaedrus said as the Baku-Coar hit her. (Phaedrus 750) Phaedrus then whipped her tail that fired many small scales from her tail, at the warden and the Firebenders, knocking them all down. That allowed Tyro, Haru and the last Earthbender to grab them all with coal, and put them all in the air on a big pile of coal over the edge. The warden then said to Tyro with fear in his voice. "No, please. I can't swim."
"Don't worry. I hear cowards float." Tyro said as they stopped the Earthbending. That caused them all to fall into the ocean, even the warden. A few minutes later, every last Earthbender was on a ship heading back to the Earth Kingdom. After Phaedrus got Appa, they were all on him, except Katara, who was talking to Tyro and Haru. Haru looked at Katara and said. "I want to thank you for saving me, for saving us."
"All it took was a little coal."
"It wasn't the coal, Katara. It was you."
"Thank you for helping me find my courage, Katara of the Water Tribe. My family and everyone here owes you must" Tyro said and Katara said to him. "So, I guess you're going home now."
"Yes, to take back my village. To take back all of our villages! The Fire Nation will regret the day they set foot on our land!" Tyro yelled to the other Earthbender, who cheered in agreement. Haru then said to Katara. "Come with us."
"I can't. Your mission is to take back your home. Ours is to get Aang to the North Pole."
"That's him isn't it? The Avatar."
"Katara, thank you for bringing my father back to me. I never thought I'd see him again. I only wish there was some way–"
"I know." Katara said before touching her neck, only to notice that her Mother's Necklace was gone. For the rest of the day, they looked everywhere on the ship Katara was on, hoping to find the necklace, but it wasn't there. It was in the prison area of the Shipyard, and Zuko found it. Zuko picked it up and Alex came up to Zuko on Ryerazu. "We just missed the Avatar."
"But we are on his trail again. So let's go before we lose it again." Zuko said getting on Ryerazu. Ryerazu then jumped onto Zuko's ship and they sailed in the same direction as the Avatar.
