"Thank you, again, for allowing us to use this space."
"No problem, actually, I think this whole Demon Slayer thing is very interesting. I kind of what to see Naruto use his Uzumaki power myself." Rias waved off the thanks from Konan, who was very polite, even though there was dislike in her eyes. They were the eyes of somebody who didn't like her species very much, but as long as she didn't act on the dislike, she could allow it to slide. "Are those traditional Uzumaki robes you wear during training?" Rias looked out towards Naruto.
Naruto had been dragged out of bed by Himari, and forced to attend some training for self-defense.
Naruto was wearing shinto priest robes with a red spiral on the back, and looking inside of the sleeves of the robes, you could see there were many different sealing marks inside of it.
"He looks good in those." Akeno whispered, wearing her own priestess robes, having transformed her outfit to match Naruto's own as he trained. Naruto wore those robes, not the exact ones, as a kid a lot. She looked at Koneko, who was watching Himari with more interest than Naruto himself. Since Koneko was a Nekoshou (a type of Nekomata) then seeing a Bakeneko like Himari had to stir up some emotions in her.
Many of the Uzumaki yokai were all around them, which maybe also put Koneko on edge. It was easy to understand why, and then there was Asia, a human saint that was putting all of the devils on edge a little. Everyone was a little on edge with each other to say the least, and then there was Shizuku, an outright hostile yokai who had attempted to kill Naruto. ALL of the Uzumaki yokai were unhappy with her over that.
Ginko was in her wolf form, very depressed, but watching Naruto standing in the middle of a field.
"Naruto has never undergone his wind training. Usually, an Uzumaki masters wind by going through the proper steps. It takes years to do things the proper way, so we're going to take a little shortcut." Konan stated with a smile as she watched towards the training area. She could see very plainly that Naruto wasn't happy to be forced into training again.
It was the reason he ran away from home.
Shizuku watched with a critical eye.
"I'm not good at it... and these robes stink." Naruto deadpanned, but sighed and went along with it. He knew what the robes were suppose to do. It was lined with seals that would allow an Uzumaki to pull out their latent wind ability if they had any. All Uzumaki wore the robes when they were newborns as a way to see if they had a talent for the wind. It was how they knew Karin had no ability to use the wind at all.
"When worn by a newborn, an emotional outburst from the child will cause a barrier of wind to develop around them. Those are the Robes of Protection... so summon forth your power, and the robes will do all the work." Konan stated to Naruto. "Himari, back away from him, or you will get hurt." Konan ordered the young yokai.
Who just shook her head.
"No, I shall stay by his side, he doesn't want to do this. If he must, then I will be by his side." Himari was not about to leave Naruto to fend for himself. Naruto placed a hand on her shoulder, and gently pushed her away. She stared at him, before nodding and backing up several meters, but stayed within a range where she could get to him quickly if he started to freak out.
"So how do I do this?" Naruto asked.
"Just think I need to defend myself and the robes will use your power to defend you. Strong emotions from newborns triggers this." Konan explained. "Think about the image of a vortex, a hurricane, or whatever you can conjure in your mind will help the robe. Be warned though, the robe will use ALL of the power in your body to make the defense. When Nagato used that robe during his training, his barrier was no less than 100 meters in radius." Konan remembered that day with pride.
Himari jumped back 150 meters in that second, just to be safe, and she wasn't the only one. Those that could fly, took to the skies a safe distance away. Konan looked at all of them like they were insane for panicking.
Naruto closed his eyes.
In the darkness of his own mind, Naruto created a single red dot, and started to trace a red spiral in his mind that started at the edge of his mental vision, and spiralled in towards the center. It was the only thing that he could really think of that invoked a powerful emotion inside of him. The Uzumaki spiral, a symbol of his pride and his hatred. Just picturing that symbol in his mind forced him to see Nagato and Karin in his mind.
He felt a powerful emotion under the surface of his skin.
Naruto collapsed as he was drained of all of his energy in that moment.
"Haaaah... I can... I can't breath." Naruto clutched his chest. The immense drain he felt on his entire body, as if every ounce of power was sapped from his cells, pushed him to beyond his limits. He went from 100% power all the way down to 0.1% power in a mere second. It didn't take long at all for Himari to be by his side.
After all, no barrier of wind formed around him that she could see, and it wasn't invisible because she encountered no resistance to reach him. All there was that anyone could feel was a small shift to the winds around them, and that was it.
"Man, some Uzumaki heir he turned out to be, and here I thought he had some potential."
"THIS guy is who Nagato-sama entrusted the Uzumaki too... a sad day."
"Shut up! He's just out of practice, once he gets back into the groove of things, he'll be making leaps and bounds!" Himari snapped at the Uzumaki yokai who were watching, and hoping for some kind of super destructive barrier. Himari was helping Naruto back to his feet, even before Akeno approached them, and she did. Naruto, on the other hand, simply wasn't capable of standing up under his own power at the moment. He was helped to stand up by Himari holding his arm around her shoulders.
"Naruto, are you okay... Konan, those robes were cursed, they drained him and didn't even do anything!" Akeno accused the woman.
Konan wasn't looking at any of them though, she was just staring out into the distance, slack jawed since there was no better way to describe her. She wasn't looking at Naruto, who had collapsed, and didn't notice Akeno, who shouted at her. She just stared with blank eyes towards the horizen.
Some noticed that.
"What is she staring at..." Rias whispered, and she looked out in the distance that Konan was looking towards, and she saw nothing to note. It was early into the night, and it was harder to see into the distance with the spiralling clouds blocking the moonlight. Her eyes as a devil should see amazing even in the dark, so if there was something to see, then she should see it. "... clouds... tonight was a clear night just a few seconds..." Rias stopped what she was saying and looked up.
It had been a clear night just moments ago.
"Guess Demon Slayers aren't all that special after all heheheh." Koneko whispered with a sigh of immense relief. Yuuto nodded his head next to her, and landed on the roof of the mansion, seeing as there was no reason to keep flying away from potential danger.
Yuuto did look at Rias though, and saw her staring at something.
"What are you looking at-" Yuuto started as he traced her line of sight.
Where was the moon.
Yuuto instantly grabbed Koneko's shoulder and shook her attention, and gestured to the sky. She looked up, and her short little laugh from earlier stopped in it's tracks. She sucked her breath in when she saw the cloudless sky was nothing but a spiral of high speed clouds. She looked away from the moon, and into the sky in the distance, and all she could see where those same high speed clouds. Dark gray from the night, and harder to see.
She looked to the sky in the North, and she couldn't see the sky.
She looked to the sky in the South, and she couldn't see the sky.
She looked towards the West and East, and still she could not see the sky.
She couldn't see the stars or the moon, no matter how far she looked.
"I... I can't even feel the intensity of those winds... just... just how far away are they?" Konan whispered as she just stared out into the distance. Very few of them had noticed it, the yokai who were poking fun at Naruto for 'failing' to summon any winds hadn't seen it yet. How could they notice it, when it wasn't like they were paying attention to the sky, or the horizen. They had kept their eyes on Naruto, expecting the barrier of wind to form around him.
Well, it did.
Using all of his power, the barrier of wind DID form around him, and it was currently protecting him. Of course the wind wouldn't pick up for anything inside of the barrier, so it was hard for anyone to notice the winds change. It was hard to feel a breeze from a wind that was still hundreds of miles away from you.
"Don't worry Young Master, we'll work on this together. We'll do things the right away, without these cursed robes." Himari stated to Naruto, and she glared at Konan.
"Nagato... was this the potential you sensed in him... was this why you pushed him so hard, you saw this inside of him? Just... how many years will it take him to control this power... is it even possible for him to control this power?" Konan whispered as the moonlight started to come back, when the barrier of wind covering the sky started to fade away. The darkness was replaced with a dim light once more.
Shizuku raised an eyebrow and looked up at the sky.
She saw the traces of the spiralling clouds, and she looked at Naruto with some surprise as she too put it together what had happened. Her jaw dropped for only a moment, before she regained her composure. Himari and Akeno pulled Naruto towards the mansion to get some rest, right by her, and she looked towards his eyes.
Ba-Thump*
When her eyes made slight contact with his own, she noticed for a brief moment that his pupils shifted away from the round pupils that she knew. She felt something inside of his eyes, but she couldn't pinpoint it. It was like something else was inside of his soul, looking into her own soul.
"Get off the Young Master, I'm going to help him get undressed."
"Not happening, I have more experience in helping a man recover from fatique."
Himari and Akeno were arguing, which helped Shizuku to calm herself down.
What was that primal feeling inside of her when she made eye contact with Naruto?
