Sylph might have fallen into Feather's trap, but she has a way to get out of it. All she has to do is win against her. However, it's not going to be easy. Sylph might have 3000LP while Feather has 2600, but Feather is in control of this duel. Feather has her Light of Intervention, which is preventing monsters from being played facedown. She also had her Venus Eyes with 2400atk points. As for Sylph, she had her Clearwing Space Cruiser at 1800atk points with a face-down, which revealed to be Prism Wing Blade. Feather's strategy is to try and see what Sylph's cards are before she can use them and then destroy them.

"You can't win. I will be able to see your cards before you have a chance to use them." Feather said as she placed a card facedown to mark the end of her turn.

"Just because you can see my cards before you can play them doesn't mean you will win." Sylph said.

"So you say, but I doubt there's any merit. It seems to be working so far." Feather said. "Let me ask you something before you do get locked away. Why did you join forces with Demon King to begin with? What's in it for you?"

"Well... I... I don't really know." Sylph said as she wasn't even sure if it was the right choice. "Aside from what you think, he seems like a good person. At least that's what it seems to me."

"That's it? You probably think you're as free as the wind, but that's about to change very soon." Feather claimed.

Meanwhile, Demon King and the others were trying to figure out they can get Sylph out of that trap. However, Jinn was getting rather impatient.

"What's taking so long? Haven't you figured it out yet? Jinn said.

"Give us a minute. This isn't easy to crack." Wiseman said. That didn't make Jinn feel any better.

"I hate to interrupt, but we've got company." Laguna said. He pointed out that there were security programs heading their way.

"We don't have time for this!" Jinn said.

"Don't worry, Jinn. We're not leaving here without Sylph." Demon King said. "We're not leaving a friend behind." Despite everything, Demon King considers those two siblings his friends. Hopefully, it's enough to help them now.

Sylph

"It's my turn! I draw!" Sylph said as she drew her next card. "First, I'll activate my Space Cruiser's special ability to summon a Clearwing to the field! Take flight, Clearwing Falcon Swift!" She summoned out a new mechanical creature with prism-like wings that was modeled after a falcon with it having 1700atk points. "Now, I will build the circuit that opens the way for the majestic winds!" The circuit opened up with both of her monsters diving in, but taking up three arrows pointing up and in the two bottom corners. "I link summon Clearing Pegasus Majestic!" She summoned out her Pegasus. It descended down on the field with 2300atk points. "There's more. I summon Clearwing Robin Burn!" She summoned another new monster with it modeled after a robin with a flame painted on its chest. It also had 1500atk points. "Since it was summoned next to Pegasus Majestic's link, I also gain 1000LP." She said as her life points increased to 4000. "Pegasus Majestic has another ability. It can gain 200atk points per link arrow in my graveyard. Currently, there are two link monsters in my graveyard, but they have a total of three link arrows. That means Pegasus Majestic gains 600atk points." She claimed as her Pegasus now had 2900atk points.

"But even if you attack with both your monsters, and also activate your trap, I'll still have 600LP and still have a chance to win this." Feather claimed. "Unless..."

"Unless I have another ability to use." Sylph claimed. "I activate Robin Burn's ability! When there's a Clearwing link monster on the field, I can use my robin's ability to lower one monster's attack points by 200 for each link arrow one link monster has!" Her monster unleashed some heat and it flowed against Feather's monster. That caused it's attack points to drop to 1800. "And now I activate my Prism Wing Blade. I have to lose 1000LP for this trap to work, but the damage my Pegasus can deal in battle now will be doubled." She claimed with her life points dropping back to 3000. "That will deal enough damage to end this. Pegasus Majestic, attack!" Her Pegasus went on the attack and it seemed like this duel was over.

"You seemed to have missed that I had a face-down!" Feather said. "I activate Angel's Rejection! When you attack a fairy-type or light attribute synchro monster, your attack is negated!" A light shined from her trap and caused the Pegasus to stop attacking. "There's more. Since the monster you attacked with isn't a fellow light attribute monster, you also lose 800LP."

"What?!" Sylph said. The trap fired a blast and smashed against Sylph with her life points dropping down to 2200.

"I was ready for something like that. I saw what you were going to do was coming, but you clearly didn't see that coming." Feather said. "You say that even though you didn't, you prosper. It sure doesn't look that way."

"Just make your move." Sylph said as she ended her turn with their monsters' attack points returning to normal.

"Very well. My turn!" Feather said and drew her next card. "I activate Graceful Charity! It allows me to draw three cards, but I'll have to send two of them to the graveyard." She claimed as she drew her three cards and tried to decide what to remove. "I'll remove my Wingweaver and Keldo." She claimed as she removed her two cards. "By doing so, I am now able to activate Pot of Avarice. By returning five monsters in my graveyard to my deck, I am now able to draw two cards." She got all of her monsters back and drew two more cards. "Excellent. I now summon my Insightful Archbishop." She summoned out a man dressed like a bishop in white robes with it having 1000atk points. "Now, Venus Eyes, attack her Pegasus Majestic!" Her monster attacked. It fired the rays from her eyes and destroyed her monster with Sylph's life points dropping to 2100. "Since it now destroyed a monster, I can use the special ability granted by my All-Seer. I get to look at the top three cards in your deck and send them to the graveyard." Feather took a look at the cards Sylph had and tried to decide one. "I'll choose the one called Clearwing Crow Shadow."

"Fine." Sylph said as she discarded the card. "But what are you going to do now? Your bishop is weaker than my robin."

"That's where his special ability comes in. If I sent a monster from your hand or deck to the graveyard from a special ability, my Insightful Archbishop gains that monster's attack points. Your Crow Shadow 1800atk points, so it gains that same amount." Feather claimed with her monster's attack points rising to 2800. "Insightful Archbishop, destroy her Robin Burn!" Her monster attacked as it meditated to gather power, then unleashed it in a powerful bust. Not only did it destroy Sylph's monster, but Sylph was knocked off her feet with her life points dropping to 800. "I end my turn." Her turn ended with her bishop's power returning to normal, but Sylph wasn't getting back up. "What's wrong? Finally admitting defeat?" Sylph didn't want that, but her mind was wondering off somewhere else at the moment.

'Laying on the ground like this takes me back to those days.' Sylph thought as how she was feeling right now was taking her back to the harder times.

Flashback

After the loss of their parents, Kris and Kleene were living out on the streets. Sure, social services and child services tried to help them, but it wasn't enough. Especially when it looked like they were going to be separated. Refusing to let that happen, Kris and Kleene tried to survive on their own. They didn't care what happened, but they wanted to stay together no matter what. It still wasn't easy. They had to struggle everyday to survive."

"Please spare some money for two kids?" Kleene asked. No one would even stop to look at the two of them. It wasn't easy for them, and the fact that no one was even going to help them made things even worse. It was breaking Kleene's heart and spirit, but Kris had to remain strong for her sake. As Kleene began to cry, Kris took her in his arms and comforted her.

"Forget it, Kleene. No one is going to help us." Kris said.

"But why? Can't they see we need help?" Kleene said.

"Maybe they do, maybe they don't." Kris said as he took Kleene's hand and the two started walking. "People make the world look like it's a great place, but they see right through us. This is what the world is really like. People don't do things out of the kindness of their hearts, and the ones that do try to help us only want to separate us. We're going to have to get a lot tougher and not expect anyone to help us because they don't care about us."

"That can't be true." Kleene said as she didn't want to see the world would be that mean to two little kids that have nothing.

"It apparently is. We're on our own now." Jinn said. That was actually heartbreaking to her, but it looks like there's no choice. They're all alone in the world and there isn't anyone to help them.

End of Flashback

...

'I should have listened to my brother. No one would help us. My life is over.' Sylph thought. She closed her eyes and thought she accepted her fate, but then she thought of what Demon King did for her. Then, he revealed himself to her. She wanted to see if there were truly kind people, and she did find them. It didn't hit her till just now, but they offered their friendship. "Wait! That's right! There were kind people out there! I just didn't really believe it until now!"

"What are you speaking about over there?" Feather questioned.

"I just now realized that there are good people out there. There are somethings I couldn't see that ended up being a good thing." Sylph said as she got back up. "I couldn't see it, but it was there. Kindness... Hope... It just took me longer than I liked to find them with Demon King and the others. He offered to be my friend without question because he understands how great friendship can be. He's just a good person. It was there all along and I just couldn't see it. Goes to show you that seeing isn't believing. I joined him because I wanted to be a part of what he offered. Now, it's time I fight for it. It's my turn now! I draw!" Sylph felt like a brand new duelist, and her new view on things paid off as she got the card she wanted. "I summon Clearwing Raven Darkness!" She summoned a new monster with it all dark and modeled after a raven and had 1900atk points. "When Raven Darkness is summoned, if Crow Shadow is in my graveyard, I can summon it!" She summoned out another Clearwing with this one similar to the other, but modeled after a crow. It also had 1800atk points. "When Crow Shadow is summoned from my graveyard, it's special ability allows me to bring back another Clearwing from my graveyard! I choose Falcon Swift!" She brought out a third monster to the field. "Now, with Falcon Swift and Crow Shadow, I will now overlay them and build the overlay network!"

"Overlay?! You can xyz summon?!" Feather said as she didn't see that one coming. Her two monsters were placed over each other and combined their powers for a new monster.

"The mystic winds blow creating a powerful storm! I xyz summon!" Sylph called. "Rise, Rank 4 Clearwing Qilin Mystery!" She brought out a new xyz monster that had the legs of a deer, scaly body, dragon head, small antlers, all cybernetic-like, and even had prism-like wings just like her other monsters. It also had 2200atk points. "I now activate Qilin Mystery's special ability! By using one overlay unit, Qilin Mystery gains 200atk points for every link arrow in my graveyard! Between my three link monsters in my graveyard, there are a total of six link arrows! That means Qilin Mystery gains a total of 1200atk points!" Once she sent her Falcon Swift back to the graveyard, her monster's power rose to 3400. "I now activate Falcon Swift's special ability! By returning a Clearwing in my deck to the graveyard, I can bring Falcon Swift back! So, I return Swan Grace to bring back Falcon Swift!" Her falcon came back and she now had all three monsters.

"This can't be!" Feather said.

"It is! Qilin Mystery, attack Venus Eyes with Mysterious Storm!" Sylph called. Her monster generated a powerful tempest that tore right through Feather's monster. It was destroyed and Feather's life points dropped to 1600. "Falcon Swift, your turn!" She had her monster attack and it slashed right through Insightful Archbishop. Not only was it destroyed, but Feather's life points dropped to 900. "And now my Raven Darkness can finish you!" Raven Darkness flew right at Feather and smashed against her. That depleted the last of Feather's life points and marked the end of the duel. Sylph has won, and she seems to have gained more out of it than just her freedom.

Duel Links

Demon King and the others managed to hold off against the security that was sent against them. They managed to beat each one, but they are no closer to getting Sylph out.

"Wiseman, anything?" Demon King said.

"I think I almost..." Wiseman was close, but he didn't need it. They all saw the sphere break apart and saw that Sylph was free. "No fair! I almost got it!"

"Sylph! Are you okay?!" Jinn called.

"What happened to the lady?" Aoneko questioned.

"You mean Feather? She's gone. I was able to beat her." Sylph said.

"You won against her?! That's amazing!" Kyubi said.

"Yeah... That duel really helped me." Sylph said as she actually felt happy. "I think... I think it's time for a change." Just then, Sylph's attire was surrounded by a green light and began to transform. She was changing her avatar. Her hair was much longer with a trademark bun on her head. She also wore a full green bodysuit. "Ta-da! What do you think?!"

"Oh my gosh! You look so pretty!" Aoneko said.

"Thank you. I'm keeping the name Sylph, but I thought I could use a new look." Sylph said with her smiling and all happy. Jinn was shocked to see that. It's been so long since he saw Sylph genuinely happy, but seeing her like that is what made him happy. Seems like joining forces with Demon King really was a good thing for both of them.
