Chapter 1: Ready Up
I had woken up from my peaceful sleep by the rays of the sun peeping through my window. Stretching my arms, I slowly got out of bed and trudged over to the bathroom.
Yeesh Camille, that's some bed head for sure! I winced when I looked at myself in the mirror.
I undressed myself from my nightgown and turned on the overhead shower to cleanse myself. While I was showering, I remembered that I needed to hurry along because Feather wanted to have a meeting with each of the guild leaders of Ravnica. Ever since the invasion of the unnatural outsiders, the guilds of Ravnica have become more tightknit with each other. When the War of the Spark happened, Feather had found me stranded and helpless in the rubble of where I live now. Overtime, the angel and I became the best of friends. Also, Feather had been training me to become a stronger person! I couldn't appreciate my best friend more than ever. I joined the Boros Legion a year ago, and now I'm Feather's protector! I'm an elite guildmage, I can heal people and shoot out fire from my hands. Feather is one of the angels that are higher up than most of the angels in the Legion. The only angel above Feather, is the guildleader herself, Aurelia! Feather only ran the guild for a moment because Aurelia was roped into the murder investigation of two former guild leaders. Since that has passed, things on our home plane have been calm. Of course, if you don't count the multiple bad guys that try to come through the Omenpaths.
Hopefully there isn't anything bad that will happen during this meeting, I thought to myself while stepping out of the shower.
I dried myself off quickly and looked through my clothes to find something nice to pick out. I decided to go with my white top that also had the red fire shapes along the bottom. Then, I had put on a pair of maroon pants and a pair of black shoes. Of course, I had to put on my gold and pointed crown on my head, to show which guild I'm from. Finally, I put on a red and white shawl that could flow in the wind. I glanced down at my watch, it was 8 AM!
"Crap! I have to meet them by 8:30!" I panicked and rushed down the stairs.
I grabbed my bag and went out the door. After locking it, I started briskly walking down the street. While hurrying along, I saw wings come quickly to a halt in front of me! It was Feather!
"Oh my gosh, Feather! You can't just scare me like that!" I exclaimed.
"I'm so sorry Camille", the angel looked a bit upset.
"It's okay, just don't do that", I smiled softly at Feather.
"Aurelia sent me to check to see if you were still coming", Feather stated.
"Yeah I was trying to quickly get there before you showed up", I sheepishly smiled.
"I'll carry you with me to make it faster", Feather looked down at me.
"It's okay, I can run the-", Feather swooped me up into her arms before flying swiftly away.
Of course, stubborn Feather as usual, I mumbled in my head.
"I heard that", Feather dead-panned.
"Hey! What did I tell you about being in my head?" I protested.
Feather didn't respond, but just smiled because she knew I was right. The both of us landed right in front of Sunhome in no time, where our guildhall resides. Another angel had landed next to us, this time it was Aurelia herself!
"Hello you two!" Aurelia smiled graciously.
Feather and I bowed before her and then returned a greeting towards our guildleader.
"It's strange that of all of the guilds to call for a summit, it would be the Izzet", Aurelia contemplated a bit.
"You're not wrong about that", Feather added while I just nodded in agreement.
"Let's be on our way to New Prahv then!", Aurelia exclaimed and swiftly lifted off of the ground.
Feather picked me up in her arms again and we were up in the skies above our beloved city.
The two angels and I landed in front of New Prahv, the Azorius's guildhall. The Azorius upholds the law and enforces the law of Ravnica, so it made sense to hold the guild summits here. After entering the building, the three of us headed for our guild's respective balcony. To be honest, this was my first time going to one of these summits. Feather usually goes to these alone, but she requested me to come along this time. I still don't know why, but I didn't mind. The more the merrier! All of the guildleaders were already in their balconies.
Looking at all of these guild leaders is breathtaking! I was fangirling in my head. There's the Azorius guild leader, Lavinia! There are the Orzhov guild leaders Kaya and Tomik! There's the creepy Dimir guild leader, Lazav, yikes! Emmara, the Selesnya guild leader, is always so beautiful! There's Vannifar, the Simic guild leader. Over there is the Golgari guild leader, Izoni. The balcony over there has Rakdos, the guild leader of Rakdos. There's the Gruul guild leader, standing tall as ever, Borborgymos. Finally, standing in the middle of the room is the Izzet guild leader, Ral.
I heard Feather giggle at me being in awe over the guild leaders. I gently elbowed her to shut up and for being in my head again. Aurelia noticed, but before she could say anything, Ral had already started the summit.
"I know that it may seem odd that the Izzet to call for a last minute guild summit", Ral stated.
There were some murmurs between the other guilds.
"However, we did hear about some Omenpaths that have led to unsavory worlds or just completely have sucked people into them out of nowhere!" Ral continued on for a bit.
Wait what?! I exclaimed in shock to myself.
He paused again when the guilds started to chatter amongst themselves quietly.
"I know, when these originally popped up after the invasion, we thought it would be beneficial to every plane. Now, however, they're starting to become more sporadic and unstable", Ral warned everyone in the room.
"How are we going to protect our people?" Lavinia questioned the Izzet guild leader and crossed her arms.
"We've been trying to figure it out, but for now please keep this information private", Ral was trying reassure the guild leaders.
"How long do you think it'll take to be taken care of?" I heard Borborgymos ask in his deep, gravelly voice.
"We don't know yet", Ral sheepishly smiled.
"What do you mean you don't know yet?!" Rakdos boomed in irritation.
"Hey!", Tomik yelled, "He's trying his best! He just started this about a week ago!"
That made everyone else go quiet.
BOOM!
Before anyone else could say anything, there was a loud explosion right outside of New Prahv! Feather quickly protected me from possible rubble falling down. Everyone that was in the room that could fight left the atrium to go see what the commotion outside was. That left Feather, Emmara, Tomik and I being in the atrium.
"Do you know what's going on?" I asked nervously.
"To be honest, no", Tomik shook his head.
"I think we should just go check real quick", Feather stated with a hint of anxiety.
The rest of us hesitantly nodded to go out there. The four of us peeked outside to see what the problem was. My eyes widened when I saw what it was. A portal like an Omenpath had opened! It was a different color though, a tinted light blue. The beings that came out of it were, something else. There was a giant, writhing mass of tangled wires, robotic parts, and weird masks. I turned my attention to the next one. She wore a crown adorned with crowns, had pink and blue hair, and held a long black scepter in her hand. It looked like she was once a polite princess that had turned evil. The last being that came through the portal was a tall one. He had a rectangular device as a head? Two others came right after him like they secretly followed him?
"You think you could just leave us there like that?! I can't deal with his outbursts by himself, you imbecile!" The short woman with two big and pink pigtails yelled at the tall being. She was dragging along another being that looked like an insect humanoid that was tied up.
"I'm sorry Vel, but our biggest ally had called us out to be here", the tall being cooed with a hint of malice.
"You're lucky that we still like you and that we're called the Vees for a reason", Vel, I think that's her name, had calmed down for now.
"Hey!" I heard Lavinia shout at the intruders, "Who are you and what do you want?!"
The evil princess snorted at the Azorius guildleader's question. "You're such a riot, you peasant!"
"We're here to cause chaos in every multiverse!" The male being with his rectangular head cackled.
All of a sudden, wires from the robotic amalgamation started weaving through the ground and air, surrounding the group of guildleaders! I saw Ral ready up his electric weapon. Aurelia, sensing the growing tension, charged at the giant mess of wires with her two swords! It dodged her attack with such agility! When Aurelia came back for another hit, it wrapped a wire around her ankle and flung her into the building! The evil princess tried using some kind of giant sleeping spell, but Lavinia used her cancel magic to counter the spell.
"You're so annoying!" The evil princess scoffed.
"Audrey, you have to wait for that in order for it to work!" The rectangular headed guy facepalmed.
"I'm doing things my way, Vox!" The evil princess, Audrey, jumped down to be next to the guild leaders.
"Whatever", Vox jumped down from the ledge with the others. The amalgamation made the loudest noise possible when it landed.
Vox and Ral started having a one on one lightning battle. It was almost like they were dancing on the battlefield, avoiding each other's attacks. I was mesmerized by the brightness of it.
"Camille watch out!" I heard Feather call out my name in fear.
I turned to see a wire, from that amalgamation of robot parts, being used in a sweeping motion towards my group! Before I could react, I felt Feather pick me up and go into the air, so I wouldn't get hit by the wire. Emmara and Tomik also had dodged in the nick of time. Instead of the wire hitting us, it knocked down one of the outer walls to New Prahv! The wall crumbled a bit from the hit.
"Are you okay, Camille?" Feather asked me with concern as she put me back down on the ground.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine, thanks", I smiled weakly, still kind of shaken up by the attack.
I heard an ear-piercing screech come from the battlefield! Quickly covering my ears, I looked over in the direction to where it came from. It looked like Rakdos and Aurelia both landed a hit on the robotic amalgamation.
"I forgot how loud Tangle can scream", Vox muttered.
While the battle between the interlopers and the guild leaders kept raging on, I felt like something was wrong.
I need to warn all of them! Something is off. I started panicking in my head.
All of a sudden, there was a glow of a light blue behind us! It felt like the air was being sucked into something behind us! I spun around and another one of those portals that the interlopers came through had opened behind our group!
"Feather! Help!" I screamed in horror as I was being dragged closer and closer towards the mouth of the portal.
Feather quickly came to my aid, and held out her arm. I grasped her hand with mine, but I felt like my hand was slipping! Emmara and Tomik also tried to help Feather.
BOOM!
An explosion rocked New Prahv again! It threw us off of our balance, and we were pulled directly into the portal! The last thing I saw of our home was Aurelia turning around in horror.
"Camille! Feather! Noo!"
