Zip was hunched over the workbench, fiddling with some intricate gadgets for Lara's upcoming mission when something caught his eye. A photo was poking out of one of the bags on the table, almost as if it was deliberately left there. Curiosity piqued, he pulled it out and glanced at it.

It was a picture of a young boy with messy black hair and a wide smile, standing alongside a small, yellow creature with pointy ears and a lightning bolt-shaped tail. Zip raised an eyebrow, staring at the picture. "Who's this, Lara?" he muttered under his breath, turning it over in his hands.

He briefly considered it might be a fan of hers—maybe one of the children she had saved in her many adventures—but something about the photo didn't sit right. It seemed personal. How would Lara have a picture of some random kid?

Just then, Jonah Maiava walked into the room, taking notice of Zip holding the picture. His eyes flicked from Zip to the photo and back again.

"What's that you've got there, Zip?" Jonah asked, stepping closer.

Zip shrugged, still examining the photo. "Not sure, mate. It's some kid. Don't know who he is, but Lara's got his picture in one of her bags."

Jonah peered over Zip's shoulder, his gaze flicking to the photo. His brow furrowed as he crossed his arms, a deep line of curiosity and confusion crossing his face. "Who the hell is that kid?"

Before Zip could respond, the door creaked open, and Lara stepped in. She froze when she saw the photo in Zip's hand. Her eyes widened in a mix of surprise and slight embarrassment. Without thinking, she rushed over to the table, trying to snatch the photo away from Zip's grip.

"Oh, no, that's not for you to—" Lara started, but Zip quickly pulled the photo out of her reach, holding it high above her head.

"Ha! You'll have to try harder than that, Lara," Zip teased, giving a cheeky grin.

Jonah raised an eyebrow. "You've got some explaining to do, Lara."

Lara's face turned a deep shade of red as she jumped up, trying to get the photo back. "Give it back, Zip! It's not what you think!"

Jonah let out a low chuckle, crossing his arms. "Right, right. 'Not what we think,' huh? Then what is it, exactly?"

Lara sighed, looking both flustered and reluctant. She finally stopped trying to grab the photo and stood there, her arms crossed tightly as she glanced between Jonah and Zip.

"It's…" Lara started, trailing off. She cleared her throat, obviously uncomfortable. "It's a picture of someone I met on an earlier expedition," she admitted, her voice quieter now. "His name is Ash Ketchum. He's a trainer, with his partner Pokémon. I… well, I may have gotten a little attached to the kid, okay?"

Zip and Jonah exchanged a look, clearly still puzzled.

"So, what, you've got a soft spot for him?" Zip asked, still grinning.

Lara rolled her eyes, though a small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. "Not exactly. I'm just… I don't know, I guess I admire his determination. He's not like most people I meet. He doesn't back down easily, and there's a lot more to him than just being some 'kid with a Pokémon.'"

Jonah raised an eyebrow. "And you've kept this photo because…?"

Lara shifted uncomfortably, rubbing the back of her neck. "It's a reminder. He reminded me that there's still hope in people, even when it feels like everything's falling apart. It sounds silly, but… sometimes I need to remember that."

Zip smirked, clearly amused by Lara's sudden vulnerability. "So, you've got a secret soft spot for the kid, huh? Don't worry, Lara. We won't tell anyone."

Lara shot him a half-hearted glare. "I swear, if you two tell anyone…"

Jonah laughed, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "We wouldn't dream of it. Your secret's safe with us… for now."

Lara sighed, taking the photo back and tucking it into one of her pockets. "Good. Because that's the last time I'll let you get a peek at my personal things, Zip."

The three of them shared a moment of easy silence before Lara smirked, looking over at Jonah.

"Now, I've got work to do. Can we focus on the mission, please?"

Zip and Jonah chuckled, clearly satisfied with the answer they'd gotten. As Lara turned to leave the room, Zip couldn't help but add with a grin, "Don't worry, Lara. We'll keep the kid's secret too. But, uh, you can always tell us more about him later."

Lara shot him a side-eye over her shoulder. "Keep it up, Zip, and I'll be sure to make sure your gadgets stop working for a while."

Zip raised his hands in mock defeat. "Alright, alright! No more teasing. Promise."

With a final wink, Lara left the room, leaving Zip and Jonah to exchange a knowing glance.

"She's not as tough as she pretends to be, is she?" Jonah said, chuckling.

Zip just grinned. "Nah, not at all."

Lara stormed down the hallway, her mind still racing with irritation from the teasing she had just endured. "Childish... they're all so childish when it comes to matters of the heart," she muttered under her breath. Her hands were clenched at her sides as she tried to shake off the feeling of being caught off guard by Zip and Jonah's lighthearted teasing.

But as she walked, a thought tugged at her, one that had been lingering ever since the moment she'd seen Ash's face in that photo. Without realizing it, she had reached the end of the hall and paused, her eyes drifting back to the picture that still rested in her hand. The playful banter from earlier faded into the background, and for the first time, Lara allowed herself to focus solely on the memory of the boy in the photo—Ash Ketchum. A genuine smile tugged at her lips as she stared at the picture, her fingers gently tracing the edges of the image.

"I wonder if I'll ever run into him again," she thought aloud, her voice softer now, as if speaking to herself. A small, wistful laugh escaped her lips, the thought of Ash and his unwavering spirit warming her heart. She hadn't expected to become so attached to the kid, but something about him had left a lasting impression on her. Her mind wandered back to the time they had spent together—his infectious optimism, the way he never gave up, and his dedication to his friends and goals. She couldn't help but admire that in him, and perhaps, in some strange way, it reminded her of herself when she first started her own adventures. She paused for a moment longer, the photo in her hand a symbol of something unexpected. It wasn't just a reminder of Ash's determination—it was a symbol of a world far removed from her own, a reminder that no matter where she went, there were people out there with a fire in their hearts, just like hers.

With a sigh, Lara tucked the photo carefully back into her jacket pocket, her smile still lingering as she turned and walked down the hall, her mind filled with thoughts of Ash Ketchum, the boy from another world. "Maybe one day," she mused, "our paths will cross again."
