What She Missed
In the woods, a large, circular trail of energy began to form, as a large warp ring appeared.
Moments later, a pink hedgehog, wearing a white and red dress leapt through, a small sack hanging from a large hammer she was carrying around.
Amy Rose. A fortune teller by trade, who had been spending just over a year now traveling the cosmos, hoping to find her one true love.
Hoping being the key word, cause she has yet to have any success… at all.
In fact, every time she THOUGHT she found the guy for her, she would soon find out that they hated her guts, found her annoying, etc.
So, after her most recent failure, she decided that it was high time to return to her home village, and take a break before setting out again.
"It'll be nice to see everyone again… especially Tails."
Tails, the nickname for Miles Prower, a young fox that she had been looking out for before she set out on her own.
The young, two tailed fox that suddenly just appeared in her home village one day…
The boy whose life she ruined.
If she had just known that the fortune she was reading was about someone so young all those years ago, she would have lied. Told the mayor that the two tailed fox was a sign of good luck, and Tails would have been loved by the whole village…
Instead, she told the truth, that his presence would lead to a fiery disaster coming to the village.
When she found out the truth about what she had done, she vowed to make up for her mistake, and took it upon herself to take care of Tails, and even gave him the nickname that he loved so much.
At least, that was how it was until she left.
Truth be told, she had actually read her own fortune years ago, which is what led to her eventually taking this journey she had been on, however, she kept putting it off for Tails' sake.
When he found out about this, he urged her to leave, and convinced her that he'd be fine without her for a while.
While she was still unsure about his safety, she decided that he'd be able to take care of himself for what she assumed would be a quick journey…
She was terribly wrong about how long it'd take.
So now, here she was, on her way to the village to check in on everyone before going to Tails' hut and surprise him with souvenirs that she gathered during her travels.
When she arrived however… she was horrified.
"What… happened here?!" Amy asked herself, looking around in horror.
It looked as though the entire town had fallen victim to some sort of disaster, several huts were destroyed, looking as though they went up in flames.
What was strange though, was the colors… multicolored marks were seen all over the town, as if there was a colorful explosion.
Then, it hit her.
"Fire… and explosions…"
It was just like that reading she did about Tails all those years ago predicted…
But he couldn't be the cause of this… could he?
"Oh my, is that you Ms. Rose?"
Looking over, she saw the mayor approaching her.
"It is! My how long has it been?!" He asked, taking her hands into his own.
"I've… been well Mayor… what happened here?" She asked.
The mayor frowned.
"That accused fox and that blue devil is what happened!" The mayor shouted.
That served to confuse her even more.
"Blue devil?" She asked.
"First, the runt disappears for a week, then he comes back, spouting some nonsense about finding a new place to live!" The mayor explained. "Then some blue devil appears and threatens us! Then the fox launched an attack on us, causing all of this!"
Amy did not look convinced.
"And what makes you think HE is responsible?" She asked. "I HIGHLY doubt a literal child could cause this much damage."
"We have witnesses!" The Mayor said. "They saw him alongside that blue devil, some red creature and two others as they launched a giant ball of… SOMETHING at us!"
Amy's eyes went wide at this.
She knew Tails. He would NEVER go out of his way to hurt anyone, even the people who tormented him for so long.
This Blue Devil and Red Creature… were THEY the ones responsible for this?
She needed answers, and Tails was the only one who could give them.
However…
"… Where is he?"
"Hell if I know!" The mayor said. "Guess that nonsense about finding a new place to live was true! Because no-one's seen him him since that day!"
Amy frowned.
"… Then I'll find him and get the truth." Amy said before turning around.
Her break from traveling could wait, she NEEDED to find Tails, and NOW!
When she got to Tails' hut, she was disappointed to find it completely empty, besides the furniture that remained.
"I guess he really did find a new place to live…" She said sadly.
Once again, she couldn't help but feel responsible for all of this.
Not only did the fortune lead to him being harassed so much, but her leaving might've led to whatever had been going on in his life to lead to… all of this.
Still, she wasn't going to give up, and looked around the hut for some kind of sign of where he could have gone.
And after a bit of looking, she found nothing.
It made sense, he wouldn't want one of the villagers to ransack the place and figure out where he went to live now.
But it didn't make her job any easier.
"Dang it Tails… I know you didn't want them to find you… but what about me?" She asked.
Suddenly, she got an idea.
"Of COURSE!"
She bolted out the door and ran towards a nearby mountain.
When she got there, she found a cave, and went inside.
This cave was a special place, filled with raw materials that she and Tails often mined for the boy to use in his various inventions.
However, what was truly special was deeper inside.
When she got there, she smiled.
"Yeah… still as beautiful as I remembered."
It was a underground river, lined with blue crystals that gave the whole area a blue glow.
This was a special place, where Tails always went whenever he was down or stressed, and she was the only other person that knew about it.
If Tails had left her any kind of hint on where he was… it'd be here.
And sure enough, he absolutely did.
A chair, with a photo sitting inside.
It was a photo of him, giving two V signs with his hands, standing in a field of some kind.
She studied the photo, and smiled.
He looked so… happy.
In fact, she had never seen him so happy before.
She needed to know more.
She memorized the appearance of the field behind the fox in the photo, and threw a ring, before stepping through.
It was finally time to have her long awaited reunion with her favorite fox… and nothing was going to stop her.
*BONK* *THUD*
Nothing except a small, white ball hitting her in the face as soon as she stepped through the ring of course.
"Ugh… what happened?" Amy groaned out as she woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she saw the face of a woman, staring at her.
"WAH!" Amy shouted as she leapt away and grabbed her hammer, putting it up defensively.
"Whoa! Hey! Hey… calm down…" The woman said, trying to get her to calm down. "Relax… you're safe here."
Amy looked at the girl's hands, then at her face.
Then, she lowered her hammer.
"Sorry… first time in this world and I got assaulted right away so… I just assumed I guess." Amy said. "I'm so sorry!"
The woman just laughed.
"It's fine! You just surprised me is all!" She said. "I take it you must be from the same world as Sonic and his brothers?"
Amy tilted her head.
"Who and who?"
"Sonic? You know, blue, hedgehog, fastest thing you've ever seen?" She asked.
Amy's eyes went wide.
"… Blue?"
She remembered what the Mayor said, about a "Blue Devil."
…
"Wait, another hedgehog?!" Amy asked.
In all her travels, she had NEVER seen another hedgehog before!
Not in her world, or any other.
"Yeah… I take it you are one too? You look really different so I couldn't really tell at first."
Amy nodded.
"Say uh… you wouldn't happen to know where this Sonic lived… would you?" Amy asked.
The woman shook her head.
"Sorry hun, I am only part time here… but the boss lives with them!" The woman said. "She was on her way here to check on you, so you could probs hitch a ride with her if you asked nicely!"
Amy nodded.
"… Is he with a two tailed fox by any chance?" She asked.
The woman's eyes lit up.
"Oh you mean the fluffy little guy?! Of course! We all love him here!"
Amy smiled at that.
"Friend of yours?" The woman asked.
Amy nodded.
"Then I think he'll be happy to see you… he's had it rough lately."
Amy frowned at that… that boy's been through enough as it is… he didn't need more things to worry about.
"Julie? I'm here!" Amy heard a new voice call out.
"Back here Maddie!" The woman, apparently named Julie, called back.
Before long, a new woman, apparently Maddie, walked into the room.
"Oh! Oh wow you weren't kidding!"
Amy walked over and curtsied.
"H-Hello… my name is Amy Rose, thank you for coming to help check on me." She said.
Maddie's eyes went wide.
"Wait… YOU'RE Amy Rose?!" She asked.
Amy nodded.
"I… take it Tails told you about me?" She asked nervously.
"Yeah… said you read some fortune about him…" Maddie said, her arms crossed.
Amy just looked down sadly.
"… And that you've more than made up for it." Maddie said, kneeling down and hugging her. "Thanks for that… he really does deserve a friend like you."
Amy let out a sigh of relief, before returning the hug.
"… Is he happier now?" Amy asked.
Maddie smiled.
"Well, all our lives are really exciting now… but yeah, I'd say he's happier now that he's here." Maddie said.
Amy smiled back.
"… Could you please take me to him?"
Amy sat in the back of the car, looking out the window in awe at the world around her.
She could hardly believe that apparently, just a few short months ago, this town was destroyed by an egomaniac who had harnessed the Master Emerald's power…
She could hardly believe that the Master Emerald that she heard about during bedtime stories as a child was actually REAL!
And not only that… Tails had been at the center of all of it… and another situation that had just happened a week ago involving another hedgehog… Shadow.
She was very glad that he got out of that relatively unscathed.
"Well, here we are!" Maddie said as the car came to a stop.
Amy climbed out, and looked at the house before her…
And the red creature standing guard.
"Oh! Hello Knuckles!" Maddie said.
"Welcome back lady of the pretzels. I have been here standing guard over the house while the hedgehog, fox and Donut Lord are away." The Red Creature, Knuckles, said, holding his fist to his chest.
Amy frowned at that… Tails was away right now?
"Oh, well thank you Knuckles." Maddie said, before turning to Amy. "You can just make yourself at home until they get back."
At this moment Knuckles noticed the girl's presence.
"Another hedgehog?" He asked.
Amy nodded.
"… I am sure you are aware of the LAST hedgehog we came across." Knuckles said, putting his fists up.
Amy put her hands up defensively.
"Oh no! I'm a friend I promise!" Amy said fearfully. "Uh… my name is Amy Rose… I think Tails told you about me?"
Knuckles' eyes went wide at that.
"… The fortune teller." He said, reaching his hand out. "It truly is an honor."
Amy looked at his hand and smiled, before reaching out to grab it.
"Ah wait! Knuckles be ge-"
When the two hands connected, they had a firm handshake.
"Ah! You have a mighty grip!" Knuckles said, impressed.
"You too!" Amy said with a sweet smile.
Maddie was just in shock.
"Well… wasn't… expecting that." Maddie said. "Now, let's go inside and wait for those boys to get home, and you can tell us all about this trip you've been on!"
Amy smiled and nodded, before they all went inside.
"So no luck on that true love of yours yet." Maddie said sadly. "Don't worry… I'm sure he's out there somewhere."
Amy nodded.
"Yeah, I'm sure too… just gotta find him." She said sadly.
"It'll be a long journey." Knuckles said. "But you are strong enough to take it."
Maddie nodded.
"He's right… I mean, it's not like your true love is gonna walk right through the front door…"
At that moment, they heard the front door slam open.
"GUESS WHO BROUGHT HOME MCNUGGIES?!" Amy heard a boy shout.
"MCNUGGIES! MCNUGGIES!"
And that was a voice that clearly belonged to Tails.
Tails then flew into the room, and placed a couple of boxes on the table before flying over to Maddie and hugging her, not yet noticing Amy's presence.
"Hey Tails, have fun while out with big bro?" Maddie asked.
Tails nodded.
"Good… hey, someone's here to see you!" Maddie said, pointing at Amy.
Tails turned to the girl, and their eyes locked.
He slowly lowered himself to the ground, and kept staring.
"… Amy?"
Amy just nodded, tearing up and holding her arms out.
Tails immediately bolted over and began hugging the girl.
"Oh Tails… I missed you so much…" Amy said, hugging back. "I… when I heard about what happened in the village I was so worried about you!"
"I missed you too… It was so rough without you…" Tails said.
Amy's heart broke at that admission.
"I'm so sorry…"
Meanwhile, standing just a bit away, Sonic and Tom were just standing there watching this.
"So that's Amy huh…?" Sonic asked.
Tom noticed Sonic staring at the girl and smirked.
"She's kinda cute, huh?" He asked.
Sonic REALLY wanted to give him a sarcastic response to that… but couldn't…
'She… really is kinda cute…'
At that moment, Amy and Tails separated, and she turned to Sonic…
And she was glaring at him.
"You…" She growled out.
Sonic looked left and right frantically, before pointing at himself.
"The Blue Devil…" She growled out. "How DARE YOU corrupt Tails' mind like that!"
"… Uh… What?" Sonic asked.
Amy then walked forward and pointed an accusatory finger right between his eyes, causing him to take a step back.
"Tails would NEVER want to hurt anyone, even the jerks in the village! The fact that he did means you've been a terrible influence to him!" Amy accused.
Sonic… for the first time in his life… was rendered speechless.
"Ok hold on… I think there's been a bit of a misunderstanding here." Tom said. "Yes… we MAY have gone a little… far that day, but we had good reason."
"Yeah…" Tails said. "I… Please let us explain."
Amy looked to Tails, then back at Sonic and Tom.
Then… she sighed.
"Alright fine… I owe you at least that much." Amy said. "So… tell me what happened."
"LET ME GO!"
"Amy! Please calm down!" Tails pleaded as Knuckles and Sonic both tried to prevent the girl from going through a warp ring.
"They do NOT get to try and kill you and get away without a hammer to the face! NOW LET ME GO!" She shouted.
"While I REALLY appreciate the sentiment, we already got back at them for that!" Tails reasoned. "We don't need to do anything else!"
Tom and Maddie just watched this amused.
Thankfully, Amy calmed down at that, and stopped fighting against Sonic and Knuckles.
"I… guess you're right… sorry about that." She said. "I… sometimes let my anger get the better of me…"
"Hey! Forgive and forget!" Sonic said. "Glad we could clear the air."
"… Alright, let's start over." Amy said, looking at Sonic. "I'm Amy Rose! Nice to meet you!"
She then put on the sweetest smile she could muster…
And Sonic very nearly felt his knees give way at the sight of it.
'… Oh no… ok! Gotta make a good REAL first impression!'
"The name's Sonic. The blue blur, the red shoed rocket, and the blue justice!" He said, striking what he thought were cool poses the whole way.
…
'Oh my gosh he is such a loser…' Amy thought, not impressed at all.
"Uh… yeah… nice to meet you… I guess." She said. "Thanks for being… you know, Tails' brother and all that."
At that moment, Sonic felt awkward.
"Uh… right! Yeah! Love the little guy!" He said. "And you love him too! And we're both hedgehogs! We have so much in common!"
Tom and Maddie just watched this, and were trying to hold back their laughter.
Their boy was a MESS!
"… Yeah, ok." Amy said, turning to Tails. "Now, why don't we do some catching up?"
Tails nodded furiously, completely unaware of the crisis Sonic was currently having.
Sonic watched them walk away with a frown.
This was not going well…
Knuckles however just looked at Sonic, and looked confused.
Just what was up with the hedgehog?

So this is all a part of a four Oneshot series I decided. First one was about Tails mostly, this chapter is Amy, next is Knuckles, and finally ending with Sonic.
Now then, I am going to be talking MOVIE SPOILERS here for a bit, so I am going to be giving you a fair warning. DO NOT read past this point if you haven't watched the movie yet!

So obviously, there are some inconsistencies with what happens in the movie: Tom not having a broken arm, and how Amy is introduced. This really is just to say that this is an AU. The events of the movie DO still play out mostly the same. The postcredits scene just didn't happen, and Tom's arm is fine, he just got punched in the gut really hard.
That being said, I may do a little nod to the Postcredit scene at some point, but we'll see (I don't have the last two stories planned yet).
Also, Amy and Sonic's dynamic at the end is actually kinda inspired by a theory I have involving that postcredit scene. The theory is this: In the games, Amy is introduced by Sonic saving her from Metal Sonic, when in the movies it's reversed, with Amy saving Sonic from a horde of Metal Sonic's. My theory is that this is teasing that there will be a bit of a role reversal, with Sonic having a crush on Amy but she finds him very… well, let's just say cringe. I found the idea fun, so I decided I wanted to mess around with it.
