Hunter X Shinobi

Chapter 1: Rebirth

*In limbo

A boy wakes up but not in the realm of the living, a little while ago he just passed away after having lived a long fulfilling life, the boy had yellow spiky hair, blue cerulean eyes, three whiskers like mark on cheek, his name was Naruto Uzumaki, the seventh hokage. Naruto was confused but it this confusion went away when he realised he was indeed dead, just a moment ago he died of old age having lived past a hundred years of existence thanks to being an Uzumaki, he looked around seeing the endless white void as well as seeing that for some reason his body seems to have reverted back to it's prime instead of looking like an old man and his confusion came back as he said "Is this the afterlife?" "Not Quite but close enough."a loud echoing voice said, Naruto turned around only to see who it was, what he saw was something only made of bright yellow light, "What do you mean by that and who are you?" "Who and what I am is... complicated to explain, just refer to me as "Guardian" and to answer your first question, you are indeed dead but your not in heaven, this isn't hell either, you have done to much good in your life to deserve hell, welcome to limbo a sort of in-between between life and death." Naruto was more confused, "Why am I here? Aren't I'm supposed to go to heaven?" the "Guardian" started to slightly chuckle before answering "Yes you were but my "boss" decided that you were deserving of one more chance at life just like many other heroes before you..." as he said that last part his mind shifted to a certain black anthropomorphic hedgehog, Naruto was not really thrilled at the idea of living again especially that he was ready to died since he have acomplished everything he ever wanted to, and was also ready to rejoin with his parents and Hinata, "But why" "Didn't I already said it? You are a hero, one that have saved the world on more than one occasion, and my "boss" is really fond of heroes so he sends them to other worlds with the generous gift of letting them keep their abilities and memories... and in your case you won't be alone in this journey that awaits you..." to that Naruto was confused until he widened his eyes as he felt the energy of someone he knew and thought he would never see again even after death he turned around with a huge smile as some tears started to form "Kurama?" he said as he saw a huge nine-tailed fox who grinned at him as he saw him, "Long time no see Naruto." "After he died he was sent here waiting for you to arrive as he was given the same chance you have since he helped you save the world multiple time and sacrificed himself aswell to save it again, so instead of going to hell due to being a tailed beast he was sent here." the "Guardian" clarified to Naruto incase he had questions about Kurama being here, "Alright since I got that feeling I can't refused that offer, could you give us some information about this new world?" he and Kurama watch the glowing light waiting for an answer before he sighed and said "Sadly I am prohibited from helping any souls that gets reincarnated, but I could tell you this, the world you will be in doesn't have people that can use chakra you will be only one to have that, but know that it doesn't mean this world doesn't have a substitute of sort." Naruto nodded to the guardian and thanked him with a smile and looked back at Kurama who was also smiling, despite not really wanting to get reincarnated Naruto was looking foward to this new world and the adventures he will potentially have with the new friends he'll make. And with that the two of them started glowing and before they disappear the "Guardian" said "Good luck".

*Somewhere on earth (Author: I have no idea about the overall geography of the Hunter x Hunter world so... he's in a random village, I decided to name it "leaf" because why not)

Naruto open his eyes to see a young woman smiling at him seemingly holding him in her arms soon there was a young man who entered also smiling at him what he had guess was a hospital room, he guessed that they were his parents and he also smiled, (Guess this life won't be so bad afterall right Kurama?) Naruto asked internally to his companion who was back being inside him, (I guess it won't, I'm looking foward to what you will acomplish this time around Naruto).

And with that for the following ten years Naruto was training, helping the village and spent time with his parents for as much as he could, his training consisted of reinforcing his body and using shadow clones to adapt his new body to chakra, he still had the monstrously big reserve of chakra he had in his past life as well as having Kurama by his side so it allowed him to abuse the shadow clones to extreme heights as well as reinforcing his body extremly fast, he made the decision of not telling anyone about his abilities which Kurama agreed to saying it was a wise decision, when it come to helping around the village (which I decided to make it as big as Gon's home town, whale island except that it wasn't mostly habited by fisherman), that he find funny it was named leaf, at first most of the villagers turned down his help especially when it was a difficult task, but that never stopped him from helping and as time passed the villagers went along with it and grew to respect him, the entire village knew him and they even jokingly started to call him the village little hero, when it comes to his parents Naruto loved them just as much as they loved him, just like in his previous life he was named Naruto by them, his parents couldn't be any prouder of how Naruto turned out to be, at first they were a bit skeptical at the fact he was very mature since a young age but they ignored it because they would love their boy no matter what and seeing how he was kind and caring toward anyone made them happy, Naruto learned a lot about this world, it's geography, it's history, the fauna and flora and much more, especially about the hunters and what they do, to him they ressemble the ninjas of his old world except that they weren't bound to one nation, Naruto made the decision that he wanted to be a hunter and offered his help to anyone around the world, his parents were worried about this and after multiple conversation with them they eventually agreed to let him attempt the hunter exam when he'll reach the age of twelve but until then Naruto enjoyed every moment he had left with his parents and village not that he was leaving forever of course but he would most likely no longer be around for more than a day in leaf.

*Two years later, a week before the "beginning" of the hunter exam

Naruto woke up early knowing that today was the day he would go where the hunter exam would take place, he already has sent his application for this year and even though the "location" in which the hunter exam was taking place wasn't announced he still knew where it was, well sort of at least, he was a highly experienced ninja afterall, gathering information in a world like this was a walk in the park for him (when you exclude the informations only the hunters have access to), he got up and got dressed, he was wearing a white short-sleeved t-shirt blue sweater over it and a white coat over it, there was a red swirl on the back, he wore a pair of blue pants and attached a pouch on his right leg, there was some high level storage seals inside said pouch to store his ninja gears in (he asked some blacksmiths from his village to make some ninja gear from his old world which they happely agreed and were even going to do it for free but Naruto paid them for their efforts anyway, as for the seals do I need to explain myself? Well kind of, he manage to create some of the special ink required to make seals, and since he was an Uzumaki and son of a seal master, of course he knows how to do seals), he wore a pair of black shoes and black fingerless gloves, lastly on his forehead was a forehead protector with a leaf symbol on it that he asked one of the blacksmith to make, it was the same headband that he used to wear in his old life, not just to remember his old village but also to honor his new one since it's named leaf, (The day finally came...) (Indeed it has Naruto, are you ready?) (As ready as one could get Kurama!), after his small interaction with Kurama and done preparing himself his mother called him, "Naruto! come down, breakfast is ready!" Naruto went down stairs and sees his father who was seated at the table waiting for him with a smile on his face, Naruto returned the smile with his own bright one that the entire village came to adore over the past twelve years, Naruto sat down and said "Good morning dad! How are you doing?" "I'm doing great son! How about you? Excited to be a hunter?" exclamed his father, Naruto answered with "I'm good and yeah I am excited!" just then his mother came in with a couple of dishes that she put on the table before sitting next to them and turned her attention to her son and said with a warm smile "Good morning Naruto" "Good morning mom" said Naruto with a warm smile aswell they then clap their hands together and said "Itadakimasu" before they start eating the food served by her, Naruto honestly has always find it amusing, a couple years ago he was the only one to do that since he was used to do that in his previous world, and plus habits die hard as they say, then his parents started to do that aswell and it spread like a plague in the entire village who now all thanks whatever for their meal before they start eating. A bit after they finished eating Naruto decided that before he parts he would help around the village one last time and so he traversed the village helping everyone he could while always trying to insist on not getting any rewards for it which always end up never working, and after a long day the boat for Dolle Harbor arrived and the entire village came to say their goodbyes, Naruto was standing infront of his parents who looks at him with pride and yet anyone could see the slight worry they had on their faces as any parents should, "Mom... Dad... Thank you, for your support and the good moments you've given me..." Naruto said with a smile with some tears escaping his eyes since it still make a bit sad to go, at this moment they embrace each other with a warm family hug and started crying before they eventually let go and Naruto got on the boat and it started to go Naruto went to the back of the boat to wave at them and goodbye to everyone while promising to come back to visit often which kinda reassure all of them since they learned that Naruto always keeps his words.

And with that the legend of the world's best hunter begins...

Holy crap I didn't expect the first chapter of this fic would take so long to make... Then again, working on multiple project at once while having a life isn't the best for a consistent upload schedule...

Anyway that was the first chapter of Hunter X Shinobi, while I'm a huge fan of HxH I am not really caught on some couple of information on this series since I've only watched the 2011 anime and not the 1999 one plus I didn't watch the hunterpedia either, but I am starting to collect the mangas so I hope I could get some of the details that the 2011 anime didn't give...
