Chapter 1 – Magi Prime

(Few years later, Unknown location)

A lone nightfury lays around on what looks like a cliff side. Like many nightfuries, he is primarily black scaled. However, he oddly has a row of white strips between his spines like a tiger on his back. His tail fin are also white/black strips like a zebra. On one of his frills is a tag of sorts that reads that his name is 'Zeus'.

When Zeus opens up his white eyes, he looks around to see what looks like a massive misty forest filled with other nightfuries. Adults lying around a massive lake while the hatchlings are flying around playing. One little fury tries to fly up into the sky only to bump into an invisible wall make the patch of sky glitch.

With a head shake, the fury gets confused before trying again only to bump again and again until the fury gets out of cold and falls right into the lake making the other nearby furies laugh. Zeus, witnessing the whole thing makes a brief chuckle at the sight before laying back to rest. However, what he does not know is that he is being watched. Hanging from a tree is a hidden camera watching over the named dragon.

(Observation room)

Inside what looks like an observation room are a gathering of men and women in lab coats. On each coat is a logo attached on the front pocket resembling a blue star with two letter initials M and P. They are all watching the same dragon, Zeus resting around through one of the hidden cameras.

In front of the crowd is an elderly Caucasian man in his 60s with semi-long grey hair and a nice trimmed beard. He has a hanging name tag that reads Melvin Mandrake, President-CEO. With his blue eyes, Melvin observes the dragon on the cliff in all the majestic glory. He leans to another man beside him and says, "This is the one?"

The other man, a mixed raced individual with brown skin while his dark orange hair is an afro nicely trimmed short. On his hanging tag reads his name Malcom Mandrake, Vice-President. The other young man Malcom reads a clipboard with his brown eyes.

"Yup, he is the one. Subject Zeus. We have been using him to test the development of our latest serum to see if combining intellect DNA from the smartest dragon breeds would be capable of increasing intelligence."

Malcom flips a page to show a picture of a blue female Monstrous nightmare with red eyes looking pretty shy and reads, "The same trials we use for subject Olympias to test the most primal minded dragons to boast their minds."

Malcom flips another page to reveal for the next step of the project they are doing. "So far both subjects show promising results. The next step is to see if with heightened intelligence, the two can learn how to bond with each other."

"And what purpose would that serve?" Melvin asks still looking at Zeus from the big screen.

"To see if intelligence can help resist their primal instincts to kill each other at sight. If it works, the latest serum we create will help with the rising low IQ crisis." Malcom states as he lowers his clipboard. "For the next step we are going to request Alan's help for that. You did put him in charge of the experiment after all."

"Alan? You mean that half-brother of yours?" Melivn responds with a smirk, "Unlike you, that boy sure takes more love and passion with his work compared to you."

Malcom groans at that statement as he hears the other colleges behind snicker. "Very funny father. I just want this family business of ours to succeed and survive. Alan on the other hand tends to get too attached to the subjects."

"Dragons." Melvin corrects his older son. "Do not forget they are still majestic creatures to be respected like all-natural life that God created. Which is why we always have to be careful how we do things to them. But for now, lets find Alan for the next step, shall we?"

With that Melvin and Malcom lead the team of scientist out of the observation room with the scene shifting outwards to reveal that the enclosure they were observing is one of the many domed habitats in the middle of a colossal labyrinth room resembling an underground storage room. Each of the domed habitats have a big number one them. Inside each habitat, are a flock of dragons of the same group ignorant that they are trapped inside a massive cage with a holographic sky. And the scene goes dark with white text revealing itself a brief history.

Long ago, there was a group scientists and doctors banding together to form a community dedicated in researching nature for ways to use them to benefit both humanity and the natural world itself. This community would eventually become a massive megacorporation called 'Magi Prime'

At the humble beginnings, Magi Prime was once simply a research institute with a different name long forgotten until they learned how to do the scientific art of splicing and extracting DNA to create new genetics, abilities, traits, and even to de-extinct certain animals and plant life. It is also what one call, Bio-engineering. The science itself is like performing a unique form of magic which is why the name 'Magi' was given.

With such an art, the scientists would eventually create special liquid substances in a form of medicine created from the genetics extracted from many animals they test and care. Those substances would be named MP-Serums. With the serums, the organization managed to cure basic illnesses like flus and colds as well as treating minor bone injuries. Yet the serums form modern animals were not strong enough to cure the more advance illness like cancer. That is until a discovery was made.

Scouts from the growing company eventually found a fabled place once recorded by a Viking chief by the name of 'Hiccup' simply called the 'hidden world'. Discovering the said hidden world, the egg heads of Magi Prime discovered diverse reptilian creatures described from fairy tales called dragons.

Awed by the powers of the majestic creatures, Magi Prime saw promise to move forward. Many being dragon lovers themselves, the higher ups decided to claim packs of dragons into hidden habitats for the original purpose of study and reintegration with humans and the modern world. Study which includes extracting the DNA from the said the dragons to create stronger serums that would bring the company into greater heights of the medical world.

With years of diverse yet powerful genetics and abilities, the serums Magi Prime would create from dragons made breakthroughs that would be impossible. Extracting and testing them on other dragons before human trials, the new MP-Serums become strong enough to cure cancer, blindess, deafness, muteness, and even aides! The serums would also bring new enhancements for the human body like improved eye sight, hearing, strength, and speed.

Bringing so much profit, signs corporate greed or ignorance begin to take over. As a result, the extracting and testing on modern animals has been abandoned in favor of using dragons instead. The reintegration part of the purpose has also been forgotten eventually. Instead, Magi Prime in the far future kept the dragons to perform questionable experiments and produce more MP-Serums for the sake of making more profit. Which will also bring the eventual downfall of human kind, and the rise of dragons.
