~Chapter 9 Building Connections~
After classes had finished for the day a small group of students started heading towards the support course labs, while nobody could see her face Toru was incredibly nervous about what might be said her costume or really her lack of one.
Toru couldn't help but feel like this was a bad idea, she felt incredibly grateful that Midoriya was trying to help, but she couldn't help but be embarrassed near him after accidentally confessing to being naked during the battle trial when he messaged her last night when analysing her quirk.
Momo held her head high, projecting an air of confidence she didn't entirely feel, but she wanted her classmates to not be nervous so she pretended to be fine, she couldn't help but be jealous of Midoriya for the quiet confidence he was projecting as he came with them to help fix the issues with their hero suits.
Izuku knew he had to help both of the girls walking with him with their costumes, or in Hagakure's case lack of one, despite the embarrassment he felt about the invisible girl's issue, he focused on the fact that she needed help and pushed everything else to the wayside, he didn't know why Uraraka had decided to come with them however.
Himiko knew that her friend was helping their classmates with their suits and thought she could help with changing the design, the fact that Ochako didn't object was even better.
When the group arrived at the support lab, they couldn't help but stare at the rather large steel door, with it being his idea Izuku decided he'd be the one to open the door, right as he gripped the handle, a loud explosion blasted the door open and Midoriya onto the floor.
"Ow" a female voice groaned from inside the smoke cloud.
"You really need to pay more attention to your surroundings Hatsume" scolded the support course's teacher Power Loader.
"Failure is the mother on invention Power Loader, Thomas Edison says at least" the girl in the smoke replied with a cough "even if something I make doesn't work like I envisioned it, that doesn't mean it's a waste of time"
"You're causing this much of a scene and the year has just started" he yelled "not to mention you scare your classmates"
The smoke cleared away revealing Midoriya on the floor with a pink haired girl laid on top of him "Hey when did you get here?" she asked, ignoring her teacher.
Izuku looked freaked out as he realised where he was and the group that accompanied him where rendered speechless.
"Oh sorry about the sudden explosion" the girl called Hatsume said as she stood up without a care in the world, as if she hadn't just been laying on top of a teenage boy, meanwhile Izuku was completely red faced and everyone else was trying to find their voices.
"Sorry about her" Power Loader apologized "I honestly didn't know anyone was outside"
"I-it's no problem sir" Momo stuttered slightly, still off guard.
"Well I'm busy developing new babies, so bye" Hatsume said in a sing song voice, before turning around, only to be stopped by the teacher.
"Nice try Hatsume, the school day is over and I have other things to do then try and prevent anymore explosions from you today" he said sternly "so you can gather your things and go home"
"But Cables is still inside" Hatsume complained.
"One, Akemi hasn't blown anything up, and two, I'll be sending her home when I go back into the lab" Power Loader replied raising his fingers with each point, he then turned back to the hero course students stood in the hallway "what can I help you with?"
"We were here to register complaints about our hero costumes" Toru spoke up.
"Yeah, I'll help with that" he shrugged, before turning back to the pink haired girl "but seriously, go home Hatsume"
"Fine" she pouted before walking away.
The small group followed the hero into the support lab, all the desks where empty except one, a purple haired girl sat with headphones on with a computer tablet and some kind of gauntlet connected to it.
Power Loader tapped her on the shoulder gently to draw her attention, prompting her to take her headphones off "is the school day over?" she asked.
"Yeah, I just got Hatsume to leave" he answered "do you wanna save your work and go"
"Sure, just a sec" she pressed her tablet a couple times before standing up, she reached over to the gauntlet and removed her hair from it, revealing a USB cable in her braid, looking closer Izuku noticed multiple computer cables throughout her braided hair.
Akemi left without another word, only raising an eyebrow at the small group as she walked by.
Power Loader cleared his throat drawing their attention back to him "right, so what did you wanna say about your hero costumes?"
After they had explained the issue with Toru's hero suit and Power Loader expressed his sympathies for what she'd gone through, a knock on the door caught everyone's attention.
Looking over revealed Midnight leaning on the door frame "Midoriya, principal Nezu would like to see you"
"Oh, okay" Izuku replied before turning to face the girls in the room "I'll see you in class tomorrow"
"Do you need an escort Midoriya?" Midnight asked in a husky tone.
"N-no I er know the way" he stuttered before rushing out the door with a red face.
"You need to go easier on the students Kayama" chided Power Loader.
"But their reactions are so funny" she answered in false whine "so what are you girls doing here after classes have ended?"
"We're getting Toru an actual hero costume" Himiko answered bluntly "she didn't get one before"
Midnight looked stunned at the answer "I'm sorry, WHAT?!"
Izuku couldn't help but be nervous, 'Principal Nezu didn't change his mind about me being All Might's successor did he?' he asked himself, ignoring the fact that Nezu showed support of him this morning.
When he arrived at the door to the mammal's office the door swung open automatically, revealing Nezu sat behind his desk and All Might sitting in his smaller, almost skeletal form on a chair in front of the desk.
"Ah Young Midoriya, how are you?" the gaunt man asked.
"I-I'm fine All Might" he replied nervously.
"Mr Midoriya, while I'm aware that you hold great respect for our number one hero, but please try to get into the habit of referring to him by his name in this form" said Nezu "please have a seat"
"What, uh did you want to talk about?" the student asked.
"Well principal Nezu has brought up you've done some analyses for your classmates" Toshinori started "so we thought it would be a good idea to have you look at similar quirks to 'One For All' and see where you can apply these thought processes"
"B-but is there really anything like 'One For All'?" Izuku sounded confused.
"Perhaps not exactly in terms of it's history" Nezu answered "but remember it is still a stockpiling quirk" he reached into a draw on his desk and placed a folder on the table "this is a file on a retired pro hero from Europe"
Izuku became excited at this piece of information placed in front of him, opening the folder showed a picture of a man with very short hair and a dragon tattoo on his face, the hero's name was "Gold Dragon"
"Gold Dragon was a hero with a heat stockpiling quirk, he could use this build up of heat to enhance his physical prowess" Nezu explained, as Izuku read through the file "he retired after his villain brother 'Red Dragon' died"
As Izuku kept reading he froze when a he saw a note on the file about a full body technique, after a second he pulled his own notebook and read the notes he made during the battle trial "spreading her acid across a large area" and "because it's spread instead of focused in one spot it doesn't damage the building as much"
"I believe this exercise has already started to bare fruit" Nezu chuckled into his cup of tea "wouldn't you agree Yagi?"
"Yeah" he smiled as Midoriya mumbled to himself "do you have an idea young Midoriya?"
"Yes sir" he answered with a small smile "I think I do"
