Not a Hero

Prologue

Android Seventeen was old. These days, he was one of the few remaining people alive from those that where alive during the Tournament of Power in Universe Seven. In fact, today was his two hundred and sixtieth birthday. It was certainly an impressive age for a mortal in any universe.

As an android that was altered on the cellular level by doctor Gero, combined with the fact he was powered by an infinite energy generator, he aged much much slower than Humans and even Saiyans who also had extended lifespans.

The only ones who rivaled him and his sister in lifespan were Nameks and Kais, and perhaps whatever species Hit belonged to. Goku had passed away at the strong age of one hundred and seventy four. Vegeta was granted extreme longevity as a God of Destruction candidate under Beerus whilst Goku trained and grew in the afterlife, keeping an eye on all the villains he had beaten in his younger days. If they decided to try to escape or cause trouble, they were quickly suppressed.

Frieza had finally outlived his welcome, and was Erased by Beerus when he got a little too cocky for his own good after perfecting his black form. He had openly and directly challenged the God of Destruction, Stating that he would make the Gods and Angels bow before him. Growing in power had also intensified his ego and hubris many times over.

Android Seventeen sat in a beach chair on the the northern beach edge of Monster island in nothing but a pair of blue swim trunks and a light blue opened button summer shirt. He had sunglasses resting on his forehead as he enjoyed the summer sun on his skin. A cold beer was resting on the cup holder on the beach chair arm. Not too far off, his great great grandson and his wife were also sunbathing and sharing hard drinks. Their idle chatter was calming to hear and brought him the joy one would feel upon seeing their progeny continue their lineage.

Even though the two were several dozen meters away down the beach, his enhanced hearing picked up every word they said. One of the perks, and sometimes downsides of being enhanced by the doctor depending on the situation.

It seemed that they very much were enjoying themselves and making the most out of the beach retreat he had provided them.

Android Seventeen turned his head and set his focus away from his descendants to something else that was happening down on the other side of him.

Barely six or so feet away one of the cell Juniors that lived on the island was doing it's best to imitate him with it's own small beach chair that Android Seventeen had given it several years before for good behavior. The little blue guy had seemed to take a fascination with everything Android Seventeen had done, and it clearly was looking for his validation.

"Feeling good little guy?" Android Seventeen asked the little Cell clone with a hint of amusement. Raising the little Cell clones was akin to having pets that never grew old and died. In the beginning, they reminded him of Cell, and what the terrible bio android did to him, but these Cell Juniors did not harbor such intents. Over time he overcame his trauma from their creator.

The Cell Junior gave a little thumbs up to him and let out a content "Kekeke" while giving it's best smile it could.

This meant that the Cell Junior was extremely satisfied with the attention Android Seventeen had given him, and for good reason. Android Seventeen rarely gave the Cell Juniors overtly positive attention. In fact, these days, he rarely gave anyone outside of his family much attention.

At that moment, a small beeping alarm went off from the phone in Android Seventeen's pocket. Floating up from the chair and landing next to the Cell Junior, Android Seventeen looked at the phone he had taken from his pocket.

"Again?" Android Seventeen grumbled. Poachers. They were becoming more and more common the past year.

"This is the sixth time this week these guys interrupt my peace" the android scowled before talking to the Cell Junior next to him.

"Alright, I'm going over to deal with some unwanted visitors over in the Minotaurus fields. Look after my family while I'm gone" He said before buttoning up his shirt, rolling his shoulders once with a stretch, and shooting into the sky like a rocket. He was going to be a little more rough with the poachers this time. They had become brazen, and he didn't like it.

Android Seventeen quickly made his way over to a large plains area on the island where several dozen large purple bulls were rampaging in a desperate attempt to escape a large convoy of black trucks that were chasing them towards a large cargo ship.

More poachers. They were coming more and more frequently, and it was wearing down his patience and restraint.

It wasn't like he didn't know why. Minotaurus leather sold for large quantities of currency no matter the planet and they were hunted to near extinction all across the universe.

The hide was soft, warm, light, and durable, leading it to be used in high end luxury boutiques.. Also, the meat of a Minotaurus was soft and succulent, giving a fulfilling and unique taste when cooked by a master chef. It would have been weird if poachers didn't come.

Floating up above the scene of the chase, Android Seventeen raised his right palm out towards the trucks and sent several dozen precise blasts at the truck wheels.

Within an instant all the trucks were lying flipped over on the ground with smoking holes where the tires once were.

The passengers of the trucks had expected this, and were as well prepared as a band of space poachers could be. Crawling out of the trucks with large rifles holstered to their backs, the poachers slowly rose from the ground.

They all looked human and wore tan outfits that made them look like members of an army or mercenary group. It almost reminded him of the Red Ribbon army data that doctor Gero had programmed into him.

"There he is! Open fire and keep his attention on us!" The largest of the group, a man almost seven feet tall shouted as he raised his rifle at the android.

The sound of automatic gunfire blared out as the poachers opened fire on him.

Hearing what they said, Android Seventeen froze for a second.

They were trying to distract him this time? Distract him from what?

Bullets, two rockets, and shells rained upon him and as he deflected the bullets and shells the air was filling with smoke and small explosions. They were limiting his vision, yet Android seventeen kept his wits about him.

The problem was that even after all these years, he still could not sense Ki. Not that it would have helped him here as he was taken completely off guard by about a dozen tiny robots wrapping their small steel legs around him.

Looking down, he saw ten small almost spiderlike robots that clung to his body. They had been silent and made no noise.

He had to admit, this was new. The poachers had never, not even once utilized such sneak attacks before. He wouldn't deny that he was slightly curious as to what they were trying to pull here.

Where they trying to distract him while they herded the Minotaurus into the waiting cargo space ship? That would certainly be an effective tactic, but it wouldn't work on him.

"Do it now!" He heard one of the poachers scream into a radio, breaking him out of his thoughts. Things were beginning to get out of control.

The small robot bodies, barely larger than the size of a fist each began beeping and glowing with a bright blue light.

They began to grow hot and quickly Android Seventeen tried to blast them off of him, but it was already too late.

He sucked in an apprehensive breath before a sky splitting series of booms erupted from the robots that clung to him and he was washed in a white hot heat. Everything went white, and all he could hear for a long time was the ringing in his ears and a static he couldn't quite place.

He felt himself falling and spinning through an unknown plane of existence where colors shattered and spun like fresh glass being blown. After some time controling his body, he righted himself and gained his balance in wherever this vibrant dimension was. He had no idea what or where this strange plane of existence was, but it was clear to him that he had to move as he realized that he couldn't breathe here.

Surrounding himself in a barrier, he shot forward at speeds unseen by even Humanity's fastest jet plane. He cracked the sound barrier nigh instantly, then even light faded to irrelevance as he sped up, yet he still proceeded to move faster and faster. The prismatic colors mere blurs, flashes, and splotches as he shattered and cracked several films of colors that erupted in prismatic sprays and fragmented behind him.

For some time that he could not calculate, Android Seventeen felt he had made no progress in escaping this dimensional prison until he cracked through a particularly thick film with a punch and was greeted by the cold air in the region of the atmosphere of the planet below him. Clouds collided with him as he burst through the sky before the hole in space and time sealed behind him like it had never existed in the first place.

The clouds were blown aside and he found himself finally able to breathe. Up until then in that strange dimension, he had held his breath on instinct, and had found himself quickly depleting the air he had breathed before entering it.

Descending below the clouds, he immediately felt that something was inherently wrong with this planet. He couldn't exactly tell what it was, but he could feel it in the air he breathed, the sounds he heard, and the world he saw. It was as if there was a strange film around everything that was invisible, but sleek like oil and thick like tar. It threatened to overtake his mind and control him, attempting to turn him to a mindless creature. With some trouble he managed to shrug it off and it almost nigh instantly receded like a wave receding back into the sea upon crashing into the shore.

It was clear that something had noticed him and attempted to dominate his mind, yet he managed to shake it off.

Unlike Goku or Vegeta, he couldn't sense energy so he was left none the wiser as to who had attacked his mind. The strange oily feeling that had submerged his mind had left him partially disgusted with a feeling of slight violation. Something was watching him, but he had no idea what it was, or who it was at all.

Wherever this was, it wasn't the earth that he knew. He would have to find out where he was, and how to get back home. If going home was even an option.
