"Alright, good morning, everyone!" Blitz said as he walked into the meeting room where Millie, Moxxie, Loona, and Octavia sat. "I've got some great news! Our little business has now gone up to 8 employees! Come on in, new people!"
On queue, Rufo, Wraith, and Vi came into the room, and as they did, the crew clapped for them. Millie was even cheering Wraith's name, which they appreciated. Rufo gave a dramatic bow and even Vi gave a smirk, mainly because they were all being shown off rather than just her. It was also kinda funny how they were now working with the people they almost tried to kill not too long ago.
"Betcha didn't get that welcome with Diago." Blitz said.
"No," Vi said. "We just had a handshake and had to sign a contract saying he wasn't responsible for injuries, death, or cuts to our pay."
"Well, you don't have to worry about that here! We're a fa-... I really need to stop saying that - we respect our workers here. Rufo, you'll be our new demolitions expert. Anything that needs blowing up, we'll trust with you."
"And I'll make sure I do a damn good job!" Rufo said.
"Wraith, you're gonna be our co-stealth expert alongside Octavia. I bet you two'll be teaching each other a bunch of stuff."
Wraith just nodded.
"And Vi, you're gonna be the muscle of our group, when you're not out there smashing heads and shit, you'll be the office bouncer kicking out demons we don't want in here."
"Guess that makes sense. As long as you don't shove it people's faces that I'm a chimera." Vi said.
"If things go well, they won't know you're there! Now all of you pick your seats at the table!"
Wraith immediately took an empty seat to the right of Millie and Moxxie so they could be close to their childhood friends, while Rufo took a seat near the other side to the left of Octavia. With all other options taken, Vi sat at the opposite side of the table facing Blitz.
"Ok," Blitz said. "Now that we're all seated, lets-" Before he could finish, a duck-like demon with orange, curly hair and a blue dress walked into the room. Millie, Moxxie, and even Wraith recognized this demon as Amanda.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything." She said.
"Mom!" Moxxie said as he stood up to give her a hug.
"Wait, I thought you killed your mom." Blitz said.
"No, this is my former mentor who I now consider my mother. It's a long story."
Amanda looked around the room, smiling at Millie as she did. Then she jumped in surprise and fear when she noticed Wraith suddenly appearing next to her. "Hello, Mrs. Amanda." They said. "Nice to know you're still alive."
"A-and you are?" Amanda said, still recovering from the shock.
"You remember Razz, right?" Moxxie said. "This is them, but they go by Wraith now, and they're nonbinary."
"Oh my." Amanda said, starting to recognize Moxxie's friend who would occasionally tag along with him on days she and Jessie would train him. Now that she thought about it, the whole "suddenly appearing out of nowhere and scaring the hellfire out of you" thing was something Razz would do. "Good to see you! You've changed so much since I last saw you!"
"And you haven't changed a bit, which is good, cause you were sweet." Wraith said, which made Amanda smile even more.
"I'd hate to break up your reunion." Blitz said. "But is there a reason why you're here?"
"Oh yes, of course. I've come to hire you."
Blitz grinned, "Oh lady, you are not gonna regret this." He turned to the crew. "I'm going to talk to our new client here. You guys play Truth or Dare or something."
Blitz led Amanda out of the meeting room and into his office, where he sat at his desk, and she sat across from him. "So, you're Mox's new mom." He said.
Amanda shook her head, "Me and my husband have raised that boy for most of his childhood, we did more for him that his actual family."
"Then how come he never told me about you?"
"Because he thought I was dead. Long story short, I was gone for a long time, but now I've returned. And I'm still an overlord, so I plan to rebuild me and Jessie's empire."
"You're an overlord? If that's the case, can't you just get some of your old minions back?"
"No, most of them are either purged or got snatched up by some other overlord. Besides, I want a fresh start, and I figured I would help support the business that helped my son and my daughter-in-law by hiring you to kill my first minion."
Amanda handed him a stack of blurry photos, which revealed what appeared to be a woman covered in a black outfit from head to toe, with green goggles covering her eyes. "They call her, 'El Camaleón Mortal: The Deadly Chameleon.' They say she's the spiritual successor to the Killer Moth."
"Oh fuck yeah," Blitz said, looking over the pictures. "The Killer Moth was a badass!"
"If the rumors about her are true, you never see her coming. She's killed her fair share of gang leaders, CEOs, and politicians, her only trace being a pile of bodies that were unlucky enough to be in her way. In short, she's the perfect first step to rebuilding my empire."
"You want us to kill this gal so you can have her as a minion, got it. But how are you gonna find her once she's dead? This chameleon chick could be anywhere in Hell once she gets down here."
"Oh, that's the easy part. I'll bribe someone at the Department of Death to tell me where they landed. After that, I just have to hope they accept my offer."
"Good luck with that. While you think of a pitch for your not-yet overlord empire, we'll take care of her. But just because you're Moxxie's kinda Mom, don't think that you get a family discount, we don't do that shit here."
Amanda laughed, "I wouldn't dream of it. Just be careful, she's dangerous."
"Lady, we're even more dangerous."
After some exchanging of details, Blitz went back into the meeting room, where it appeared as if the crew was playing Truth or Dare. At least, that's what he assumed was happening, as there couldn't be any other reason Rufo was pulling the pin on a grenade and holding onto it like a baseball. Also, because he did that exact same dare in college.
"Good news, recruits!" Blitz said as Rufo threw the grenade out the window. "You're going to Tijuana for your first mission!"
An explosion could be heard in the streets below, but the crew stayed focused on Blitz. "This is gonna be a training mission, so I'm assigning one of our veteran employees to be in charge of you." He then turned toward Millie and Moxxie, scratching his chin before pointing his finger back and forth between them. "Eenie meenie miney mo, catch a tiger by the- Millie you're up!"
Millie's eyes widened in shock. "M-me!?"
"Yep, you're gonna be the boss of this mission, and you'll be showing them how we do things at I.M.P. Think you can do that?"
It took a few seconds for her to get over her shock. Meanwhile, Moxxie couldn't help but smile at his wife. "Y-yeah, I can do that!"
Rufo, Wraith, and Vi soon began prepping for the mission. Rufo was sorting through his grenades while Wraith was sharpening their scythe. Vi simply did some stretches and cracked her arms. Meanwhile, Millie was twiddling her thumbs as Moxxie approached her. "Are you ok, Sweetie?" he asked.
"I'm fine, just a little nervous." She said. Millie had always wanted to be in charge of something like this for as long as she could remember, and now that day had come. While she wasn't expecting it to happen today, she was beyond excited for it, but also incredibly nervous.
"You're going to be a great, you deserve this." Moxxie said as he put his hand on her shoulder.
Millie was still apprehensive, but the encouragement from her husband was just what she needed for a confidence boost. "Thanks, sweetie." She then kissed him on the lips before giving him a hug, which Moxxie eagerly returned. A small part of him was disappointed that he didn't get to lead this mission, but the love and pride he felt for Millie overshadowed it. He knew how much she wanted this, he even tried to ask Blitz a couple of times if she could take the lead on a job, which he always responded with "I'll think about it." But now her time to shine had finally come.
"I'm proud of you." Moxxie said.
Once everyone was briefed on the general location of where El Camaleón Mortal was last seen, Downtown Tijuana, Loona summoned the portal to Earth, which Millie jumped into before the recruits did. They all ended up in an alleyway with graffiti on the wall to the right. Millie peaked out of the alley just a bit to check their surroundings. To her left and right were rows of 1 and 2-story buildings, same as across the street, each one marked with the names of some kind of business. She could see a couple of unmarked 8-story buildings, but those were the only ones. It looked and felt just like every other downtown area Millie had been to, the smell of cigarettes included.
There were also quite a few humans walking along the sidewalks both across the street and on their side as well. Even though it looked as if night was coming, they still had to be careful not to be seen with this many people out.
"Alright, recruits!" Millie said facing them. "We gotta look around and find this Chamelon girl. Now, she could be anywhere, and we've got humans out, so we gotta be careful-"
Just then, Vi took a drink of something transformed before her eyes. She went from her demon form to looking like a dark-skinned human with shoulder-length black hair. "Oh," Millie said, surprised at what she saw. "You can disguise yerself too, huh?"
"Yeah." Vi said, holding up a bottle that said Glamour. "I'm the only one that uses this."
"Wait, they sell those? One of us uses magic to change."
"No shit." Vi said with interest. "Well, don't think about borrowing mine. It doesn't work on imps, racist, I know. And for some reason, Rufo won't take it."
"Hey, that shit's expensive!" Rufo said.
"And I told you, you can borrow mine."
"Plus, it tastes like piss."
Vi turned toward Millie. "See what we deal with?"
"Alright, this is good. It means the job'll be easier. Now, Rufo you-"
"I'm gonna scout on the rooftops and see if I can find anything." Rufo said as he climbed up onto the rooftop of the building next to them.
Millie sighed, "That's what I was gonna say. Which means we're-"
"In charge of the ground." Vi said, pointing to a large brown leather bag she was holding. "You hide in here while I ask the locals about our Chameleon."
"Y-yeah, that sounds good." So far, Millie hadn't given a single order, but she still had a chance. "Wraith, you-" But she noticed Wraith was nowhere to be seen. She did a quick look around the alley, but there was no sign of them. "Where'd they go?"
"Don't worry about them." Vi said. "Nobody sees Wraith unless they want to be seen."
Millie gave another sigh of defeat as she climbed into the bag. Once she was inside, Vi lifted the bag over her shoulder like she was a hitchhiker and walked out onto the streets. Even in her disguise, Vi stood out like a sore thumb, as she was taller and more muscular than any of the people on the sidewalk she was walking down. Thankfully, they kept to themselves.
"Now, keep an eye out for anyone-" Millie said through the bag before Vi spoke.
"There's someone that might know something." Vi said as she approached what appeared to be a homeless man sitting on a towel against a building.
"Oh good, I know Spanish." Millie said. "I'll tell you what-"
"Have you seen anyone like this?" Vi said in Spanish as she showed the man a picture of their target. Millie silently groaned, there's no way this random homeless guy could've seen-
"Yeah, I saw them!" The man said, which made Millie facepalm.
"Do you know where she went?"
"I could tell you, but I need something first."
Vi sighed. "How much do you want?"
"I don't want money, I want something else."
"And what do you want?"
The man got onto his knees. "Please, crush me with your arms!"
"... what?" Vi and Millie said in unison.
"I've waited so long for a strong woman like you to hold me in their arms and break every bone in my body. Please, I beg of you, crush me and I'll tell you what you want to know!"
Throughout her entire career, Vi had never been requested to do anything like this. So it took her a bit to process this request. But once she did, Vi decided to take him up on his offer. It's weird, but they would get the information at the expense of this guy's bones, a win-win as far as she was concerned.
"Alright," Vi said. "Follow me."As she led him back to the alley where they came from, the homeless man was giddy with excitement like a child on their way to Disneyland, which only made this more awkward for Vi. As soon as they reached the alley, she put the bag down and led him further into it. Soon enough, Millie started hearing screams of pleasure. Technically, Millie could peek her head out of the bag to see what was going on, but she really didn't want to, she just tried her best to tune out the horny shouting.
After 10 minutes, Vi came back. "That was… something." She said as she picked the bag up. "But he saw her go into some building across the street from where he was."
Vi took Millie to the only 2-story building that didn't have a sign on it. It was white and, judging from the outside, seemed to be a closed grocery store. The front door was locked, but it was no match for Vi's strength as she forced the door open. Once they were inside, she put the bag down so that Millie could get out, since there didn't appear to be anyone inside. "Nice job finding this place, Vi." Millie said.
Vi only replied with a nod.
"Alright, see if ya can contact the rest of the crew and tell them we're here."
"No need!" She heard Rufo say, who was standing next to Vi.
"H-how'd ya know to be here?" Millie said, surprised to see him here.
"I heard the screams of someone getting their bones crushed and enjoying it, so I figured it was Vi causing them and followed you here thinking you found a lead."
"Same for me." Wraith said right behind Millie, which made her jump in shock.
"I'll take point." Vi said as she walked ahead.
"I was gonna say that." Millie said, still annoyed that she wasn't able to get a command in on this mission so far.
They all followed the chimera down one aisle that once had rows of items to purchase, but now laid empty. The darkness wasn't a problem for them, as the light from outside gave them enough to see inside. Or so they thought, for once Vi was halfway through the aisle, she walked through something… a trip wire. This activated some kind of launcher at the end of the aisle, which shot out 3 knives at them, but they simply bounced off of Vi's skin.
"A trap." Vi said.
"Yep," Millie said, "Which means we're close to our target."
They all continued on to the end of the aisle where the launcher was, only to find other knife launchers pointed down each of the aisles, making it clear that each of them was as booby trapped as the one they went down. To their right was the only other door they could see in this building, so Vi took charge and carefully opened it, only to be greeted with a bucket of water falling down on her.
Only this wasn't normal water… this was holy water.
Vi grunted as she backed away, her skin sizzling with pain from the water. The amount that was dropped would've disintegrated any other demon, but thanks to Vi being a Chimera, all it did was sting like a bitch.
"Satan damn it… fucking holy water." Vi said, instinctually rubbing the back of her head and her arms.
"Holy water?" Wraith said. "Does that mean our target knows about us?"
"Only one way to find out." Rufo said as he took the lead and entered the room. All that was inside was a single desk which had a briefcase on top of it. His first instinct was to open it, which thankfully wasn't trapped. Inside the case was an assortment of knives and a silenced pistol on the top and a laptop on the bottom.
"Oh boy," Rufo said as he rubbed his hands together. "Looks like our gal is just like you, Wraith. A preference for up close and personal." He then took the laptop out and opened it, only to find it was password protected, which he told the rest of them. Sadly, none of them knew how to hack it.
"It doesn't matter." Vi said. "This must be a hideout for them. All we gotta do is wait for them to show up and kill them."
The crew celebrated amongst themselves for finding this, all except Millie, who was once again disappointed that they basically did this all by themselves. While the other recruits were beginning to talk about other things to pass the time, Wraith noticed the sad look on Millie and approached her.
"What's wrong?" Wraith asked.
"I-it's nothing." Millie replied.
"Millie, you know you can tell me anything, right? We're friends, aren't we?"
Millie sighed as she walked to the other end of the small room, away from the others. "It's just… all my life I wanted to show that I'm a badass that's worth a damn, but I kept getting upstaged by someone else. And when that happens, it's like I don't exist. Like, what am I, chopped corpse?"
"Didn't realize it meant that much to you. Although, looking back at it, you were very competitive with 'following the leader' when we were kids."
Millie giggled a bit before continuing, "The weird part is, I didn't even mind until now. I know I said I wanted to take charge one day, and Moxxie's been talkin' with Blitz about makin' it happen, but I didn't care too much about it. I was happy enough killing things with my hubbie. But now that I've got this responsibility, I'm still not being taken seriously, and I don't know when I'll get another chance like this."
"Mills," Wraith said as they put their mechanical arm on her shoulder. "I may have just started working here, but even I can tell that they take you seriously. Otherwise, Blitz wouldn't have put you in charge of us semi-rookies. So what that this hasn't gone the way you wanted, it's still going to be a success. And when we get back, you'll still have a boss that respects you, a husband that worships the ground you walk on, and two kids that have the best mom ever."
Millie gave the biggest smile she could muster before bringing her ex in for a hug, which they eagerly returned. "Thanks Wraith." She said.
"What are friends for? And hey, the mission isn't over yet. We still need to figure out how to take the Chameleon down, right?"
Millie's eyes widened as a lightbulb went on in her head. "You're right." She let go of Wraith and approached the other recruits. "Listen up, folks, we might have found her hideout, but our target's a slippery motherfucker. So we need to come up with a plan!"
The recruits all paid attention to Millie as she went over how they were going to spring this trap.
30 Minutes Later
The Deadly Chameleon entered the room with the briefcase, talking into a phone. "It's been one disaster after another here ever since you set up this meeting." The Chameleon said in Spanish as she found her laptop out in the open. "First, people start to see me after spending so much time trying to remain undetected. Now, I find my hideout broken into, my traps missing, and my laptop, which has all of my contracts, out in the fucking open! Why did we have to meet here, of all places!?"
The Chameleon looked at her laptop and gave a sigh of relief as it appeared they never got past the password screen. She waited for the person on the phone to finish speaking before saying anything. "You and your cryptic bullshit… yes, I'll be there, but there better be a good reason for this." The moment she hung up, she logged into her computer to make sure they didn't hack into it and upload anything. It was then that she felt someone, or something, approaching her from behind. So she jumped out of the way as a massive fist came down and destroyed the computer, giving her a good look at Vi.
Recognizing the danger she was in, the Chameleon ran out of the room and down the aisle in front of her, only to be greeted by Rufo holding two of her knife launchers. "Have a taste of yer own medicine, motherfucka!" He said as he fired the launchers at her. But the Chameleon's reflexes were quick, for she jumped on top of the shelf, dodging the knives, and ran across it before flipping off of it and ran toward the exit. Rufo fired off the launchers again, but she was too fast and all of them missed.
Once the Chameleon was outside, Millie jumped out of the alley next to the building and swung her axe at her. But she dodged it with a backflip and rushed in the opposite direction away from the imp. But once she reached the corner of the sidewalk, Wraith came out from the left and slashed at her with their scythe, which the Chameleon was able to dodge. They came in for another attack, but she blocked it with her knife. As she was struggling against them, she once again saw Millie catching up to her, so she pushed her attacker away and ran diagonally across the street. Once the Chameleon reached the sidewalk, she began climbing the building all the way to the rooftop. Millie did the same thing, quickly climbing up to her location. Once she reached the rooftop, she witnessed the Chameleon jumping over to the other building.
"Vi!" She shouted at her coworker running along the sidewalk. "See if ya can cut her off!"
"Got it!" Vi said as she ran past the confused crowd to get ahead.
The Chameleon jumped from rooftop to rooftop, with Millie hot on her heels. This was her favorite part of the jobs, when the target tried to run. It reminded her of her days at the ranch, hunting down runaway boars and rabid hellhounds with her family. Eventually, the series of rooftops ended on top of a cathedral. The Chameleon was about to jump off when Rufo suddenly flew up in front of her from the street below, holding a knife launcher. Recognizing what was about to happen, she preemptively jumped back to dodge all the knives being launched at her. But when she landed and looked up, she saw Vi in front of her throwing a punch right to her ribs.
The Chameleon was too late to dodge the attack, and Vi could feel the target's ribs breaking under her fist. Despite this, the Chameleon was still standing, coughing up blood through her mask. She just held onto her side as she tried to get away, but then she got punched in the face from Wraith's robotic arm, knocking her on the floor and against the dome on top of the Cathedral. Before she could even recover from the concussion she just received, Millie came down and lodged her axe into her forehead, killing her instantly.
Once she was sure the Chameleon was dead, she pulled out the axe from her skull. "'Never see ya coming' my ass." Millie said before turning to face her trainees. "Y'all did great! Wraith, perfect timing with that sneak attack. And that punch, oh man, even I felt it! Vi, great combo with Rufo there! Speaking of, nice work with those launchers, Rufo! Even if they didn't hit, they did take her off guard."
"Aw, shucks." Rufo said with a blush. "It was your plan."
"Yeah, and thanks to you, we got her." Vi said.
Millie gave a heartfelt smile. "Thanks, guys."
"Hey, um… I'm sorry for stealing your thunder today. Wraith told me about how much this meant to you, and I know what it's like to feel like you're less than what you want to be."
"Aw, don't worry about it. Y'know, you make a good leader too."
Vi chuckled. "I've just been babysitting these guys when Diago didn't come with us on missions. But seriously, great job today, Millie."
"Yep," Rufo said. "We couldn't have asked for a better trainer."
Millie got teary-eyed as she pulled in as much of them as she could for a hug. "Dawww, you guys are the best trainees I could've asked for!"
The sweet moment was interrupted by someone clapping above them. Looking toward the sound, which was toward one of the Cathedral's towers to their right with a clock on it, they saw a man standing on top of it giving a slow applause. It was a blonde man who wore a white robe with red edges at the bottom. He also appeared to be wearing a vest that had a wooden stake attached to it, as well as glass bottles of water.
"Well done!" The man said with a sinister grin that made Millie uneasy. "You managed to kill the infamous El Camaleón Mortal! Of course, despite her time with me, she was never a demon hunter."
"And you the hell are you!?" Vi said as the others readied their weapons.
"Who I am is of no importance to you, but what I am is. For you see, I am a hunter. A hunter of your kind." The demon hunter jumped down onto the rooftop where they were, landing perfectly on his feet.
"Do you guys alway fight people that jump around like frogs on crack?" Rufo asked Millie.
"Believe me, this is a new record." She said, still facing the man. "Demon hunter, huh? I fought you guys more than once, yer nothin' but jokes."
"No, no, you haven't. The people you fought were mere children playing dress up, thinking that since they knew about monsters and demons, they could hunt them like they were the stars of some TV show." The hunter pulled out a golden sword with Christian iconography edged onto the hilt. "Me, I'm a REAL demon hunter."
"Look, buddy." Vi said as she approached the man. "Real or not, if you think you can take us on, you've got another-" The man made an upward slash across her chest, and immediately blood began pouring out of her like a fountain. She then fell down to the down in immense pain, making a puddle of blood under her.
"Case in point." The hunter said as he turned back to the other demons, who were frozen in shock due to what they saw. He pointed the blood-soaked blade in his right hand toward them. "Holy weaponry, not as deadly as blessed weaponry, but it's manmade, it can kill a high blood, and as you can see, penetrate a chimera's defenses."
His grin became wider. "So, which one of you is next?"
Wraith broke free of their terror and went in for a strike. But he simply blocked it with his sword as if it were nothing. He then pulled out another sword of the same kind with his left hand and sliced their mechanical arm off clean. Before Wraith could process what happened, the hunter came in from behind and stabbed them through the back with that same sword.
As they fell to the ground, the demon hunter looked toward Rufo and charged at him while dual-wielding his swords. He didn't know what to do, his launcher was out of knives, and he didn't want to risk killing his friends with one of his grenades. The hunter raised his swords up and was about to strike, but Millie got in front of him and blocked the attack with her axe.
"Rufo… call Blitz!" Millie said, struggling against the hunter. "Get us… outta here!"
Rufo didn't waste any time as he ran away and pulled out his phone. The demon hunter backed away from Millie, pulled out two x-shaped objects, and threw them at Rufo. The objects pierced through his shoulder and below his neck, pinning him against the same dome where the Chameleon's body was, and dropping his phone.
Now it was just Millie against the hunter, and he still kept his grin. It reminded her of the same one Striker would give her, only this one was much more haunting. Millie swung at him, but he blocked it with his right sword before spinning around and attacking with his left one. Seeing this coming, Millie jumped back to dodge his blade. She then jumped in the air, about to go for an overhead swing, which the hunter blocked with both of his swords.
However, this is exactly what Millie wanted. It left his lower half exposed, so she swung on the blades with her axe and kicked him in the stomach with both her legs, which was enough to knock him back a bit. Once he regained his balance, the hunter suddenly started laughing.
"Not bad!" He said. "I can see how you were able to kill Striker! But I must warn you, I am NOT Striker!"
"How the hell do you know who he is!?"
"I know lots of things about you, little imp. Enough to know that it's about time I start taking you seriously!"
"Oh, so yer holdin' back!? Whatever, yer gonna die for hurting my trainees!" Millie ran toward the hunter at full speed, intending to cut him to pieces. But the hunter simply stepped aside to her right and gave a downward slash with his left sword.
As she ran past him, something felt off. The right side of her body felt oddly light, and she was starting to feel woozy. Looking to her right, she noticed something absolutely terrifying: Her right arm was gone.
… Her right arm was gone.
An immense wave of pain washed over her as she screamed and covered the bleeding stump with her only remaining arm, dropping her axe. She looked back toward the hunter and saw him standing over her decapitated arm, making her heart beat even faster than it already was. To make matters worse, he still had that same damn grin.
"What's wrong, little imp?" He said, laughing as he stepped on her detached arm. "What happened to that tough attitude you had earlier?"
Millie was afraid, and the hunter was clearly enjoying that fact as he walked towards her. There was no way she could face him like this, they had to get out of there. She frantically searched her pockets, fighting through the pain as she dialed up Blitz.
"Hey, Mills!" Blitz said, "How's the-"
"GET A PORTAL HERE, NOW!" She yelled before being hit in the head by the hilt of the hunter's right sword, causing her to fall to the ground and drop her phone.
"What's going on? Mils, you there!? Mils!" Blitz shouted through the phone before the hunter stomped on it, crushing it to pieces under his black boots. He then penetrated her left arm and her upper chest, practically pinning her to the ground.
"You demons think you control fear." The man said, looking down at Millie and enjoying seeing the horror in her eyes. "That you can use it to dominate humans. Let me tell you something, little imp, your kind isn't the only one who can use fear. In fact, as I can see right now, you all can be just as capable of feeling true terror as we can. Trust me, you're not the first."
He pulled the blade was in her chest out and looked as if he was about to stab her again. It was at this moment that Millie truly thought she was going to die. Her life flashed before her eyes, which wasn't a new feeling for her. But this one was different, for she didn't just think about her family, Blitz, and Moxxie, she also thought about… her kids.
Oh Satan, Jessie and Amanda would have to grow up without a mom. And Moxxie would be all alone! Why, why did she risk her life like this!
These types of thoughts rushed into her eyes as tears swelled in her eyes.
But before he could finish her off, a portal suddenly opened next to him, and on the other side was a Moxxie looking pissed beyond hell and pointing an AK-47 toward the man.
"Lucky demon." He said to Millie as he pulled his other blade out. Moxxie unloaded his gun at the hunter, who jumped back and deflected the bullets that came his way with his swords. While he was keeping the hunter occupied, Loona and Octavia rushed out of the portal, the former carrying Rufo back into it and the latter doing the same for Wraith.
Vi, who was finally able to stand despite her wound, picked Millie up and lifted her over her shoulder. As they entered back into Hell, Millie could see the hunter looking at her, his grin returning. The last thing she saw before the portal closed was him pointing towards both of his eyes, then to her.
The injured chimera handed Millie over to Moxxie as soon as she could, who was understandably horrified to see her like this. "Oh Satan, MILLIE!" He shouted as he carried her in his arms. He went over to the couch in the lounge and sat down with her on his lap and pulled out a first aid kit from his jacket, using it to bandage up her wounds and the stump where her right arm would've been.
"M-Moxxie?" Millie said in a daze.
"Yes, it's me, sweetie!"
Hearing and seeing her husband again filled her heart with joy. However, she was still in immense pain. "Everything… hurts."
"I know, but you're gonna be ok! Just hang in there!"
"What the fuck happened out there!?" Blitz shouted as he looked over the hires.
"It was… a fucking demon hunter!" The panting Vi said, who was sitting down as she covered her wound with her arm. "He… he cut through us like we were nothing!"
"Demon hunter? But those guys are pussies!"
"Not this one…" Wraith said, who was patching themselves up with the help of Octavia. "... not this one."
"If it weren't for Millie, we woulda been dead!" Rufo said, who was being attended to by Loona. Blitz suddenly realized the horrible condition Millie was in as Moxxie patched her up.
"Oh crap, Mills!" He said as he kneeled down next to her. "Please tell me she's ok!"
"She's ok!" Moxxie said. "She's hurt real bad, but she'll live!"
Blitz turned to his daughter. "Loona, call Doctor Martha now!" He shouted before turning back to Millie.
"B-Blitz…" Millie said, looking at him. "W-we did it… we killed her."
"Oh, that's great, Mills, that's really great!"
"Martha says she'll be here ASAP!" Loona said.
"Oh, thank Satan." Blitz said.
"I-I was… a good leader, wasn't I?" Millie said.
"Yeah, you were a great leader out there!" Blitz turned to face the trainees. "She was great, right guys!?"
"Damn right!" Vi said.
"She was… incredible." Wraith said.
"She saved our fuckin' lives!" Rufo said.
Hearing all these compliments made Millie smile. Blitz reluctantly left her side to go check up on the injured recruits, leaving her alone with Moxxie.
"I'm… so happy to see ya." She said with tears in her eyes as she touched his chin with her remaining arm.
"I'm so happy to see you, too." Moxxie said, who was crying as well. He held onto Millie's hand, which helped ease her suffering. "Don't worry, you're gonna be ok. Martha's gonna fix you up as much as she can, and then we can go home and see Jessie and Amanda, and they're gonna be so happy to see their mom again!"
"... I love you so fuckin' much."
"I love you too, honey." Moxxie said as he put his forehead against hers. "I love you too."
