This is going to be a Klaroline fanfiction which will be kind of AU from season 7 of TVD and season 2 of TO. Some events will be from canon and rest will be changed.

Dear Elena,

It has been one months since Jo died and we, that means me Bonnie and Alaric, are here in The Carnival of Venice since 'cause Bonnie thinks here may be we can get a new way to take you out of the magical coma. Also Ric has this new stone he believes can wake the dead. He thinks we don't know about it, but we do. We know he's grasping at straws. Damon and Stefan stayed back in Mystic Falls so that they could control the situation there as Kai freed Lily and all of her friends.

Matt is graduating in a few weeks to become deputy and also he is helping Damon and Stefan with Lily's situation. What else is left ohh yeah I completely broke up with Stefan realising that we are better off being best friends. So that's all. Bye Elena we miss you.

With that, Caroline closed her journal and started to think about that night when Stefan came to express his feelings for her.

Flashback

Caroline was in the living room when she heard knocking on her door. "Coming" she said then she saw Stefan on the door smiling at her.

"Hi Stefan. What are you doing now here? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah everything is okay Caroline i just wanted to talk to you can I come in?"

"Ohhh of course come in"

"Yesterday you told me a list with all the ways loving me has ruined your life and I know I also haven't been easy on you. But I really want to say that I made a list too of how you have changed my life, how you made me dance, made me laugh even though I was at my lowest. You were that light for me when my life was full of darkness when Elena left me. You were always there for me. You told me that I will again fall madly in love. So I know you need time to heal and to live your life without me. I understand if I have to wait for you and I will and when you will be ready for me then I will be there for you."

Caroline gave him a soft smile then replied "You know, I really don't want to bring it up now, but your words are reminding me of a certain maniac hybrid."

At this both of them shared a soft chuckle. Then Caroline became serious and replied "That's really nice of you to say Stefan but I don't want you to wait for me. Cutting straight to the point, I think that it would be better if we remain best friends because I don't think that I can love you again. Here I don't want to hurt you but I know that you will never love as much as you loved or still love Elena. And if she walks through the door right now and says that she loves you and wants to be back with you again then it's doubtful that you will refuse her. I want to feel that epic love, and after seeing all the mayhems of yesterday I know that life is really very short even if you are a vampire. So, in the near future I am probably going to leave Mystic Falls and look for my epic love. That's why I don't want you to wait for me."

"Are you thinking what I am guessing?"

"I don't know what you are guessing but I would suggest that you keep this to yourself and please find someone else whom you will cherish your whole life." After that she gets up and hugs him saying goodbye to him metaphorically.

"Caroline!" Bonnie shouts at her. "Where were you? I was calling you for 5 minutes". "Ohh sorry Bon I kind of drifted off thinking about something. So did you find anything? And where is Ric? Is he again gone to search for that stone which he is hiding from us?" Bonnie replied sadly, "No, I didn't find anything important and Ric has again gone to talk to some 16th psychic I guess." "Don't be so short on yourself Bon. One day we will find a solution. Come on now let's go enjoy the Carnival."

After three hours of enjoying the carnival both of them were sitting in a restaurant when Caroline felt that someone was watching her. She looked around the restaurant but found nothing and thought she must be imagining things."I will be back in a few minutes"she said to Bonnie, who nodded. Caroline went to freshen up, and when she closed the door, she found herself looking into familiar, blue eyes giving her an adorable smile.
