Hey you guys! It has been an extremely long time since I've given you guys a proper update. I have no excuse really, but with the 100 Year Quest being out, I have been inspired to revisit this story and give it a serious redo.

I would just like to remind everyone who reads this story to leave constructive criticism (not that I've had any problems at all; you guys have been sweet in your comments) and that I will be following the English Dub. If you are someone who doesn't wanna read because of this, then don't. I'm not offended by it because it's your preference.

Anyone, I hope you guys enjoy!

It was a cold night, but that didn't stop the seventeen-year-old brunette from sitting on the roof of the building in which she lived in.

After the rough day she had, the girl felt relief breathing in the cold night air. The caretaker of the building, which was an orphanage, kept yelling at her at every little thing she had done. It was always 'You're not doing it right, Elaina' or 'Those dishes aren't clean enough'. Sometimes the caretaker would grab her arm roughly, leaving bruises, or even slap her in the face. Then there were days when the violence tended to get worse and Elaina had some scars too because of it.

Elaina couldn't fathom why the caretaker, Miss Riley, even singled her out. Was it because she was jealous of Elaina, of how some of the younger children looked up to the young girl rather than the woman who was supposed to take care of them? Or was it because Miss Riley was jealous of her natural beauty, of Elaina's brown hair and green eyes as the older woman wasn't much of a looker herself? Elaina could only guess because she was never going to stand up for herself.

Elaina lost her parents in a house fire when she was just seven years old. The death of their parents caused Elaina to be even more quiet and shy, and sometimes withdrawn, than she already was at that age. And for that, many of the children growing up teased her, knowing she wouldn't say anything, or just ignore her completely. The only ones who Elaina could be open with were some of the younger children. Despite her age, she had a natural maternal side.

Elaina sighed again, seeing her breath in the night air. She pulled her hoodie closer to her body to keep out the cold. She looked out into the dark, wishing she could be anywhere but at the orphanage. She wished she could be living a life of adventure, much like the anime/manga series, Fairy Tail.

She came across the anime once while she was on the internet when she was at the local library and immediately got hooked on it. Suppose it was the moral of family and friendship prevailing over all that drew her in, she mused.

It wasn't just that, but also the action that was involved and the characters. One of her favorite characters was Natsu. The way he always stood up for his friends made Elaina smile.

Truth is Elaina was a bit jealous of everyone in Fairy Tail, despite how stupid she thought it was considering the show wasn't real. They were orphans, or so it seemed, and they still managed to find people who accepted them and cared for them.

She lost both her parents and landed in a poorly conditioned orphanage where many of the residents were nothing but horrible to her. She didn't really have any friends or anyone to care about her.

Elaina sighed again before standing up from her place on the roof. She stretched before letting out a yawn.

"Time for bed," she said to herself before climbing into her bedroom. If you could call it that. It was about the size of a large storage closet. Suppose that's what you get when you're the caretaker's least favorite.

Elaina quietly changed out of her clothes and into her pajamas, a simple T-shirt and shorts. She crawled into her own bed and took a deep breath while staring at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to come to her.

God, I wish I could live my life in Fairy Tail, she thought. No matter what life throws at them, they still come together as a family. I'd like something like that.

Then she closed her eyes for the night.

Screams and intense heat are what woke her up from her slumber.

Elaina gasped as she shot up in bed before coughing heavily. Looking around, she realized quickly that the orphanage was on fire.

Panicking, Elaina scrambled for the door, grabbing the doorknob before letting go with a yelp. The metal was extremely hot to the touch.

Coughing heavily because of the smoke she was inhaling, Elaina banged on the door, hoping someone—anyone—would hear her.

"Help!" she shouted. "Someone, help! Anyone!" She heard nothing but the crackle of fire and debris falling as the building started to burn to the ground.

Backing away from the door, Elaina huddled in the far corner of her room, gripping onto her old teddy bear, the last thing she had from her parents.

Please, if someone's listening, she whimpered. I don't want to die…

Well, that's it! The new prologue! I hope you guys enjoyed reading!
