Summary: Harry and his twin sister, Violet, are raised by Amelia Bones-Potter, James Potter's second wife. They grew up with Susan Bones and all three have a Muggle education. None of the Pureblood Supremacists were expecting this.
Violet and Susan both came bounding into Harry's room and began jumping on his bed to wake him up.
"Wake up!" Vi said as she bounced.
With a quick move, Harry tripped his twin sister and she fell to the bed where he immediately pounced on her and began tickling her.
"Susie, help." Vi called laughing.
Susan dropped and began trying to tickle Harry but he managed to tickle Susan under her ribs, her weak point and she rolled away giggling.
"Enough you three." A voice said from the door.
After a few seconds the three children settled and stopped laughing.
"Yes, Mummy Ami." Harry and Vi said together.
"Sorry Auntie." Susan added.
Amelia Bones-Potter looked down at the three children and felt a pang of longing and loss. When James and Lilly Potter had died, it had ripped her world apart. Amelia was the second wife of James Potter and sister-wife to Lily. Her own marriage to James was a political marriage, not a love match, but they had all come to love each other before that fateful Halloween.
The only reason Amelia had been absent from the house on that night was because she was organising the funeral of her brother Edwin, Susan's father. Part of her was glad she had been given the opportunity to raise Harry, Violet and Susan, another part of her had wanted nothing more than to have died alongside her husband and sister-wife.
The time with James, Lily and the twins had been the happiest of Amelia's life, even with being in the middle of a war. She could clearly remember the twins first words. Violet's had been 'mumma Le' and Harry's had been 'mumma Am'. Even though Lily was their biological mother, both considered Amelia to be their mother as well, as willing to run to Amelia for comfort as Lily or James.
The three children were now standing in front of her, eyes lowered slightly. Harry looked much like his father had at that age, apart from the green eyes he had gotten from his mother and the red dyed tips to his hair thanks to the girls' makeover yesterday. At first glance, Susan and Violet seemed to be the siblings, rather than Vi and Harry, as they had similar red hair, with black dyed tips, and they both had brown eyes, though Susan's eyes were darker. In the face though, Susan looked so much like Edwin while Violet looked much more like Lily.
"Downstairs for breakfast, all three of you. You have a big day on today." Amelia said, idly tucking a lock of her dark auburn hair, which now had green tips, behind her ear.
Amelia had joined in the makeover session with the three kids the previous day, but she was debating if she was going to wash the hair dye out before she went back to work the next day. As one of the most experienced First Class Aurors, Amelia had a lot of latitude in both her work hours and little dress code violations like green tips to her hair. Many had said that Amelia could easily have been Director of Magical Law Enforcement by now, but she had other priorities, namely the children, and she had not wanted to put in the 12 to 20 hour days required to get the Directorship. She was senior enough in the department not to get stuck with nightshifts or crap assignments but not high enough to be required to play politics, with either the Minister or the Wizengamont, or be required to consistently do overtime.
The four of them sat down for breakfast at the informal dining room table of the Bones Manor. The family spent most of their time at Bones Manor partly because Amelia was so comfortable there, much more so than she ever had been at Potter Manor, and partly because the children went to a Muggle school nearby. Lily had been adamant that any children of hers were going to get a Muggle primary education, and Susan went to the Muggle School as well so she would not be separated from her 'Siblings'. That was truly how the three children saw each other, with Susan as much as sibling as Harry and Vi.
Part of the summer holidays and a few other times of the year, like the week of Christmas, were spent at Potter Manor, which was kept under stasis wards when not in use. Amelia wanted the twins to know about their Potter heritage. Lily had not wanted to have anything to do with her sister and Lily's parents had died before the twins had even been born in a tragic accident, so there was no tangible heritage from the Evans side of the family.
Once breakfast was finished, the three children went up to their rooms, quickly changing into long sleaved shirts and long trousers in dark colours and grabbing their kit bags before they came back down to the kitchen, while Amelia was preparing some energy drinks and snacks which she put in a travel cooler. The four of them went out to the family sized car parked in front of the Manor, putting their kit bags in the boot before piling in, with Violet sitting in the front seat wile Harry and Susan sat in the back. Lily had taught Amelia how to drive a car, despite James trying to insist he could teach her, to which Lily had glared at James and reminded him he had failed the test five times.
It was a forty minute drive to their destination and Amelia parked in the carpark and they piled out to be met by a number of other families with ten to twelve year old children also dressed in dark clothes.
"Vi! Susie!" A girl just older than they were with bushy brown hair said, running over to them to give them a hug.
"Mione!" the two redheads said, wrapping the girl into a group hug.
"Doctor Granger." Amelia said as Hermione's father came over to the group.
"D.I. Bones." Hector Granger said.
To the Muggle world, Amelia was a Police Detective Inspector in a special counter-terrorist unit. The Grangers were the family that they were closest too, thanks to how close the three girls were, though Harry also got on well with Hermione, as evidenced by Hermione disengaging from the group hug and giving Harry a hug as well. That girl was a real hugger.
It had started three years ago when Vi had come across Hermione being bullied by some older students because she was a bookworm. Between them, Vi, Susan and Harry had set a trap for the bullies that had gotten the bullies caught by the teachers and expelled from the school as they had been bullying numerous other students as well.
While Hermione was still a bookworm, and proud of it, thanks to the other three she had come out of her shell and had joined this school team along with them and had become instrumental to their success.
"Alright everyone. Time to get your gear on." Their school team's coach said.
Hermione ran to grab her own kit bag and then joined Harry, Violet and Susan at the back of their car and they began strapping on and tightening their protective gear. Once all of the pads were on, including their headgear, with the goggles moved up to the top of their heads, all fifteen of the students gathered around their coach.
"Ok, Thompson, Granger, you will have ten minutes with the map." The coach continued. "There are three vital points to hold. Memorise the map and the best route. Everyone else, the opposition has as good a record as we do. Grab your weapons from the van. Bones, get Granger's. Nora, get your brother's. Ammunition will be issued inside. One more win and we are in the regional finals. Let's play some paintball."
The students cheered and went to collect their paintball guns while Hermione and Steve Thompson began looking over the map of the paintball maze and began stratergising.
