They headed back to the dorms, but Kuri and Deku couldn't go rest. All Might had summoned them to his office.
Deku held her hand as they sat down. He was more than a little confused.
"Young Midoriya." All Might gave his usual greeting. "And…young Hikawa. I have a lot of explaining to do to you, don't I?"
Kuri glared up at him. "Why did Grams die for you?"
Deku kept an arm around her just in case. "Why does it….feel like..we are connected somehow?"
All Might sighed, and began. "Long ago, your ancestor young Hikawa, was All for One's…lover."
Kuri immediately stood up, snarling. "Take it back!"
"A-allow me to finish." All Might said quickly.
"Kuri." Deku put a hand on her shoulder. "Let him explain…please."
"When All for One asked her to use her powers to destroy the quirks of his enemies, she betrayed him, falling instead for One for All." All Might continued. "To punish them, he forged a bond. One for All became her master, and his pain was hers."
"That's why…that's why I felt it when you were hurt!" Kuri exclaimed. "That's why I wanted to save you!"
"What?" Deku cried. "But…he didn't really control her did he? I'd never do that!"
"Of course not." All Might assured them. "All For One assumed he would, but instead it drew them closer. When One For All died, she married Watanabe. A man with the inheritence quirk. And sure enough, None for Any passed down. And here we are."
"What is None For Any?" Kuri asked.
"That's your quirk Kuri!" Deku exclaimed, beginning to mutter to himself.
"No." Kuri interrupted him. "My quirk is clairsentience."
"I-I don't think it really is?" Deku said.
"Your quirk is inheritence." All Might explained. "It allows you to have your own quirk and yet access the quirks of your bloodline. None for any is the quirk that can seal or destroy any other quirk."
"Oh. Yes. That." Kuri said with distaste. "That's why grams works at Tartarus. Your saying that now I can…"
Deku gripped her hand tightly, sensing her unease.
"Kaori and I…" All Might sighed. "had a disagreement long ago. She became bitter after All for One killed her husband. She went to Tartarus and began destroying quirks. I…could not abide such a thing. I was born quirkless. To subject even villains to such a fate was…unforgivable. So we cut ties. I apologize for subjecting your family to her wrath. I…should have protected you."
"Deku saved me." Kuri snapped at him. "I don't need anyone else to do so. And Grams…she was the one who was wrong."
Deku shook his head. "I'm glad I got to meet kuri and save her. And I'll continue to do so. And protect her!"
All Might looked at Kuri. "You have always known this day would come, and I apologize that it has come sooner rather than later."
"Y-yeah." Kuri left the room.
Deku ran after her. "Kuri! Wait!"
Kuri stopped. "What."
"I'm sorry….for…" Deku trailed off.
Kuri turned, tears falling. "I…I… -hangs head- what am I supposed to feel? She's dead, yes. But she was horrible to me! Is…is it wrong that I'm…relieved? Happy?"
Deku hugged her tight. "No….it's not wrong. You're allowed to feel how you feel."
Kuri cried into his chest. "What…what am I supposed to do?! I-I can't do what she did! I couldn't protect All Might and I can't protect YOU! "
"It's not your job to protect All Might." Deku said firmly. "And we will protect each other. You're not her. You can only do..what you can do."
"It IS my job! Grams protected him! If I had done something…I…I was supposed to do something! I FELT IT Deku. It HURT! I-I'm not a hero. I'm not even a guardian! I haven't done anything for you at all! " Kuri shouted.
"But you have….you've been there for me…and he…he only had a tiny bit of One For All left…so no…you didn't need to do anything…if you had I…I think All for One would have won…because I would have followed you…" Deku whispered.
Kuri stiffened, the mental picture in her head. "NO!" She screamed. "No deku. No no no. Just no. Don't you ever…just NO! Your…too precious, too important…" She shuddered. "just no."
"And you're just as important. Especially to me."
Suddenly, Kuri kissed him, then stopped, shocked that she just did that.
Deku smiled happily. "I-I got a kiss?!"
Kuri turned red, and her wings covered her.
"Don't hide!" Deku cried.
Kuri peeked a bit.
"There you are!" Deku grinned.
"No!" Kuri hid again.
Deku touched her wings. "Please?"
"Nnh!" Kuri's wings spread in surprise. "Izuku!"
Deku's eyes widened.
"I…that was rude! Sorry de—"
Deku covered her mouth. "Don't…you can say Izuku."
"But it clearly bothered you de— "
"Izuku." Deku glared.
Kuri pouted. "I can't call you that cuz…cuz….it's j-just so intimate…w-we aren't… "
"Yes you can. You can call me Izuku from now on, Kurisuta."
Kuri turned away. "Nope. We a-aren't…"
Deku turned her back around, looking in her eyes."Please….say my name…. I want to be if you'll let me…"
Kuri pouted. "That's not the question. I'm waiting…"
"What question?" Deku asked innocently.
Kuri danced on her feet. "Cmon Izuku."
Deku beamed as she said his name. "Be my girlfriend."
