But life wanted them together.
Chapter 7: Phone Call
"I just know it was Sasu-chan's fault," Mikoto had said while she was on the phone, Fugaku was dozing off to take a quick afternoon nap and woke up quickly thanks to his wife's outburst.
"I don't think so," Hitomi said on the other side, she was in the study with her husband who was working on some documents, he usually liked to work in silence, and didn't let anyone in, but Hitomi was the exception of that rule. He could never say no to her.
"Hitomi," Mikoto continued. "You don't know how dumb these Uchiha men can be when it comes to feelings."
Fugaku made a face that her wife ignored, not caring that she had married a dumb Uchiha man.
The Hyūga on the other side laughed, her bell-like laugh caught her husband's attention, who briefly wondered what could be so funny.
"I always thought Sasuke was going to be like me." the Uchiha lamented. "Then when he saw something he would go and claim it," she finished her little bravery in a distant memory. "But no, he's all his father, giving up and not doing anything."
Fugaku cleared his throat on purpose. Mikoto looked annoyed. "Oh come on, I was the one that had to ask you out,"
Hitomi laughed on the phone more loudly more or less understanding what must've happened. Hiashi couldn't take his curiosity anymore. "What's so funny?" documents forgotten, his wife told him that she would later explain, to which he didn't look satisfied but let it go trusting her.
"I can talk to Hinata," she said returning on the phone. "Maybe something happened between them, a misunderstanding,"
"Well, he told Itachi that Hinata was dating the Ōtutsuki kid, Toneri," she said. "He realized he had feelings for her too late,"
"Ita-chan told you that?" Hitomi asked surprised. Knowing full well that their siblings' relationship was tight and special
"Obviously not, I had to hear through the door." Fugaku shook his head.
"Oh," Hitomi said, not sure how to proceed, Mikoto always had questionable methods. Lack of privacy was just one of her minor misdemeanors.
"Those Ōtutsuki men always have a thing for Hyūga's..." the Uchiha continued, "Remember when Toneri's father wanted you for himself, he almost dueled with Hiashi," she reminisced.
Hitomi looked at her husband, who was admittedly more focused on his wife's conversation than work. "They'll figure it out Hinata and Sasuke," she said hopeful. "Their friendship is too important to lose over something so trivial,"
Mikoto sighed. "I hope so,"
